  1. Yes Bobbi outlined it pretty well, if you are only going to make Omega appliers, there are also kits you can get for Maitreya, Slink, and Belleza (and TMP but they don't respond to quickly I am still waiting for my kit for almost a year now) . You can get most of the above kits by visiting the stores and either getting the kit there or by going to a web page and applying for one. I was as lost as you are with appliers, but once I got the kits and followed the directions on the note cards, I was soon zipping through them.. I now keep my textures for system layer clothes in a special folder so I can get at them fast when making appliers. The Belleza kit comes with a dummy you can rezz and test the appliers with, very handy. Good Luck!
  2. Afraid I wouldn't be of much help to you; I mainly make women's clothes, I don't do well with men's, except for the odd shirt perhpaps and that is about it. Good luck on your search.
  3. For quality I would recommend Aregrace. Phoenix might have something useful to you they do have multi coloured huds, then there is Amacci, and Calico, Diva, Lala Moon, and Tukinowaguma. Might try those.
  4. Your descrition is a little vague. Do you want this for your role play? And if so what kind of role play, is there a certain style that would be expected to be worn? i.e. Mideaval, or some time period or cetain types of characters. I have my fav stores and some are well known and some are not so well known, but I wouldn't want to steer you to wards some place that I know would not have what you are looking for.
  5. Hmmm, you just gave me some ideas lol... I will have to see what I can come up with, could be a fun project.
  6. Oh yes I see lots of tails around, although I don't wear one myself, I enjoy seeing the different styles people strut! Some of them are quite spectacular! They have come a long way from the first solid prim ones 11 years ago when I started SL.
  7. The Free stuff is always AT THE EVENT, and only at the event, so if you want the free stuff next time go to the fair. I did what you did sccanned the blog then went to the fair and picked up only the two I liked. Usually the free ones are not all that attractive so I generally skip those anyhow I don't collect them. I used to in past years but then I ended up going home and opening them up trying them and deleting them one by one.. Guess I am very picky about hair lol.
  8. For me the bottom line is this: I consider the layer clothing I make for SL to be my art work. Would an artist hand over a painting to be reproduced and perhaps altered to someone else? I doubt it. If and when I want to update my older files I will do it myself and make the appliers. I have already done some that I deem worthy of taking the time to do.. Under NO circumstances will I ever freely give any of my textures to anyone! Yes there are ways to get them illegally anyhow, I am aware of that, but trust me if I ever see any of my work copied and being sold,, there will be a violatioin filed immediatley! Trust is not something I have a lot of when it comes to some folks in SL.. Your long explanatin of scripts etc.. just goes way over my head and does not influence me in my thoughts at all. I am a long time Photoshop user, and digital art creator (not just in SL) and am very familliar with how to use resolution, colour correction, enhancement etc. Sorry to say but this is one creator who won't be involved in what you are propsing..
  9. Whirly Fizzle wrote: Any texture can be downloaded to your computer directly from the CDN if you know the texture UUID, which is pretty trivial to find no matter what the permissions of the texture. For applier systems like Omega, you just need to know the texture UUID to create your own omega applier. Possesion of the actual texture is not required. This is correct, to make any applier the UUID is always used, but I would hope that not just anyone can find the UUID's for my textures. It is my understanding that you have to own the textures before you can copy the UUID. Otherwise there would be a whole lot more content theft going on!
  10. Actually no you cannot download textures from SL to your computer unless they are full perm .. I know because a few years back I bought a pack of textures to use for Halloween items, and all the textures in the pack were full perm except one, and it wa mod, copy, but no transfer .. the no transfer prevented me from uploading it to my computer. And I can't stress enough that as a creator, no I am not about to release any textures for any reason, with one exception.. If an alpha for a mesh outfit doesn't work well and the person who bought it tells me they can fix it to fit in photoshop or gimp themselves then I will as a courtesy send them the alpha textures so they can work on them.. But never my design textures.. Yes Bitsy they are my babies, hours of work .. not about to risk someone messing with my work.
  11. I can see how you have come up with your idea, and I also do not want to be discouraging, but the last thing I am going to include with anything I make are the textures. I take hours and hours getting a texture to work just right on any system clothing I make (and yes I do still make new system clothing) and I do make the appliers for these outfits. I have also began to remake some of my older system clothing, update it and make the appliers for those. I have been making clothes in SL for over 10 years, I am not one of those mega stores but I do take pride in everything I create so of course I prefer not to release or share any textures with anyone. I do howerver, share the frustration of a lot of us when it comes to skins and appliers. Skin appliers for women are a lot easier to find than ones for men. My husband, got a mesh head, but has not got a mesh body yet because there are so few male skin makers who do appliers, and virtually none that do skin appliers and include the head. I love my skin, but don't have a mesh head as my skin maker does not do appliers for heads... and trust me trying to match a mesh head with an existing skin using the colour sliders is pretty much an impossible feat, and even then you end up with facial feature changes which I don't want. If the skin maker did heads this problem would be eliminated. Just so many changes some of which are really good, and some have created headaches for creators lol.
  12. As both a consumer and a designer, I prefer to shop inworld in the store if possible, reason being that MP takes a percentage of the sellers listed price, I would rather have the seller get the full price for the item. Having said that, I do use MP on occasion and I do list my merchandise on MP as well, because I know a lot of folks do prefer to shop there. I am also very aware that many sellers, are giving up their inworld stores in favour of MP alone, because it is expensive to keep the land needed for a main store, and the SL economy is not doing as well as it once did. So on the whole sales are down and for some that means the difference between being able to maintain a main store or not.
  13. All I can say is "OUCH!" You just managed to insult not only those who "attempted" to help you, but also any designers who do design things for use by anyone in SL regardless of age of computer or it's capabilities and a good portion of SL users. I was gonna stay outta this one cause I don't make jewelery, and didn't feel qualified to respond. BUT it is your nasty attitude and snobish arrogance that has caused me to speak. Not about your question and request, but about the way you handled this whole thread.
  14. well, there are so many options it is hard to say ... it also depends on if you are looking for clothes for a mesh body or just a classic avatar.. My suggestion is to go to SL Market Place and type in some key words for what you are looking for i.e ladies ripped jeans, and you should see a load of stuff come up.. do the same for other items you may be looking for. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/
  15. Well, of course it would depend on what kind of mesh top or jacket, some would be easier to cover than others. The only thing I can suggest is to make the scarves large enough to cover the mesh item under them. That can also be an issue for mesh jackets, not all of them will allow for another mesh top underneath the jacket.. This is always going to be an issue, the top garment always has to be larger than the one underneath for it to work.. Otherwise yep, system layers are the only option for the under garnment.
  16. The Ad says: "4 funky little dances made for the breeder's choice line of avatars!" You might try looking for those, and perhaps use the word Unicorn as that is what that horse is.
  17. With all the different mesh bodies, and still the classic avatars, it is getting increasingly difficult to determine sizing period. If mesh makers have the proper weights for each mesh body they can do fit mesh almost perfectly for that body. I use pre made mesh templates for the outfits I texture simply because I do not have a 3Dmesh program that will export in the specific format LL requires. Perhaps one day but for now I have to use the templates. And they can vary a lot in sizing. As for fit mesh, I have an alt I use for modelling sometimes and any fit mesh I make she tests for me on a regular classic body. And so far I have not seen any problems with it. I ususally include 5 sizes of fit mesh and as I said I have not seen any problems. I stopped using the term "standard" sizing quite awhile ago.. Now I just say Sutable for Classic avatars and mesh bodies.. if it is fitmesh I state so and offer a free demo.. and that's it. The more complex the mesh thing gets the less able we are to state any specific sizing.
  18. you don't need templates for photoshop from Maitreya, you make your own textures using the basic clothing/body templates look for Robin Woods UV templates.
  19. There definitely is a kit available for clothing layers to make appliers; just go to the store there is a sign with a link you click, it will get you to a web page, where you can apply for the kit. I have had one for a long time now. And they are pretty quick to respond as I recall.
  20. The only way to get that skin tight look on a mesh body is to make system layer clothing and make appliers for all the different mesh bodies out there. Some designers do that, but I agree there is a lot of mesh out there, seems that is what folks want. However, having said that, I have a whole vendor full of non-mesh clothing with appliers.. so there may be more out there as well. I do make them because sometimes that is just what works. And sometimes I will have partial mesh and partial appliers.. if that works best.
  21. Emma Krokus wrote: wondering if the droopy pants came first, then the frowny women's faces... LOL good one Emma!
  22. And I agree whole heartedly! So does my partner, he got a really nice leather suit, but won't wear the pants to it cause they have that stupid hanging crotch, makes him look deformed lol.. I don't make many men's clothes, but usually if I do it is not pants, because I have to use mesh templates that I buy, (my mesh program won't save in .dae format yet and I am not into messing around in two or three programs just to get mesh into SL) anyhow, most of the templates are those low crotch low waist pants.. so I don't make em. AND NO A LOT of women don't like them and certainly DO NOT think it is attractive AT ALL!
  23. Bobbie Faulds wrote: Check here http://meshbodyaddicts.com/mesh-body-reviews/ for a list of mesh bodies. Then demo, demo, demo to find the one that fits your idea of what you want to look like. Yep that is the only thing to do really. As for faces, the skin has a LOT to do with how the face looks, the right skin with the right shape will make your look unique. From my point of view, I wouldn't want to have a face (mesh head) that looks like every second female avie online lol. So far I have not gotten into mesh heads, as very few skin makers do appliers for them and I like my skin and have no desire to change it.
  24. excellent first attempt:) If I may though, your picture does not do it justice at all, perhaps a model wearing the skirt would give folks a better idea of what it really looks like when worn.. that is quite important. And also if you are going to offer mesh items you need to say a little more about them, like sizes available, if it is fitmesh or just rigged mesh, and a DEMO is always, always, always appreciated by potential customers.. I for one will not buy a mesh product if there is no demo no matter how low the price. All in all a great start! good luck with your clothes making
  25. sighs! I so agree with you in many many ways.. The introduction of mesh has made things way more complicated for the users and the creators! What used to take me a few hours to make a decent system layer outfit now take several more hours, having to make appliers for all those mesh bodies out there. And although I gave in and joined the mesh body thing, I know it is damned near impossible to please everyone. Yep what once was simple is now totally complicated taking way more time to create and to get dressed yourself.. And since there are so many more folks selling clothing out there at rock bottom prices it is even harder. Rolls my eyes, I try to keep up, but in truth I do long for the good old days in some ways.
