  1. A friend of mine uses a clever approach to making huds where it is desirable to have them ready but minimized when not in use, without scaling or moving hud elements within the screen space. You can make a hud from mesh, using mesh parts from which all faces but the -X have been deleted. This mesh hud, when rotated 180°, using a minimize button, and then having no faces presented to the user, will be completely click-through. A small restore button, also with only one face, can be placed on this reverse side and made to restore the hud's original rotation. This creates a hud that, when minimized, presents no risk of accidental clicks or camming obstruction.
  2. Use the Avatar Center attachment point for this. It is unaffected by avatar animations.
  3. For short time after you post something, I think it's an hour or so, you can edit the post. This allows you to change and/or delete any part of the post. Tut tut.... time is passing....
  4. Some mesh clothing demos are set, annoyingly, to self delete after a set time period.
  5. How many threads have you started? Is that what's being counted?
  6. When I shop, I visually check the polygon density of demo clothing/attachment mesh items and do a mental quality vs. render weight ratio evaluation, secondary to budgetary concerns. I learned quickly that much of my favorite flexi-content hair is pretty costly.
  7. It's totally not my fault if your viewer isn't rendering my clothing.
  8. /me crawls up onto the beach, stands up, and casts away the life preserver.
  9. I like that my avatar survived the upgrade, And that I remain logged in now like I want to.
  10. My alts are all pretty much for utility; land holdings, stipend, etc. One was used for a business partnership. None of them are used for any appreciable socialization or relationship building. My first account is actually an alt now. It was something I used to step into these waters and wade about for a bit before deciding to swim. It was Iva who decided to stay. I also have a few alts I had created just to see what kinds of interesting names I could come up with. LL has since put the kibosh on that kind of fun. I don't concern myself with what other people might think of my use of alts. Generally, I don't purchase or create buildings, furniture or other things with alts that don't have to do with avatar customization. This is more from a standpoint of economy and efficiency than from one of privacy.
  11. I can offer another solution based on what I can see of what you want to do. If you make profile cuts on your object, so that the object center and its center of rotation (its end or anchor point) are the same, you would only have rotations to worry about. This is a strategy sometimes used to make doors. This would obviate the need to make any position adjustments. This option would limit the object length to 32 meters.
  12. Because rotations always happen around an objects center, what you want to do involves not only changing the rotation of your object, but its position as well. If your image accurately depicts what you want to do, and the rotation and position of the object will always be one each of the three you illustrate, you can store them in a list, or use another value storage system, and change the object's position/rotation with references to those variables.
  13. I always build my physics models from cubes. I save the PHYS dae, and when uploading, I specify the dae file in the upload window, check that it looks ok in preview, and upload it, without doing an analyze.
  14. Scripts that are running anywhere in SL will not be affected by you doing a clean re-install of your viewer.
  15. Until it sells, land you set for sale stays for sale. Land doesn't automatically become abandonded. It only becomes abandonded if you (or someone else with rights) specifically abandonds it. If you have no land you should be able to change to basic. After changing you account type to basic, your premium benefits stay in effect until your next billing date comes to pass.
  16. I learned a trick a while ago to deal with followers. It's not a catch-all however as it requires build rights and being on a sim with an edge that does not border another sim. I would make a long prim cube and sit on one end of it, then edit/move the prim so that you are effectively put off the edge of the sim. As the follower attempts to follow you, it leaves the world and is presumably returned to its owner.
  17. Surely in all that time there has been somefriends and joy, some fun and a few laughs here and there. Has the journey truly not been worth the negative?
  18. In any case, I don't believe the review system is trustworthy.
  19. I agree with you. Purchasing a gift for someone should allow either you, or the gift recipient, to leave a review. It seems like an oversight this ability isn't included.
  20. I prefer and am a repeat customer to creators who make their clothing, or other items, modifiable. It embraces the magical, imaginative nature of this virtual world in which we live. It emulates the real world, where only your imagination and material limitations can prevent what you can do with what you buy, wear, or sit on. Just because "You can't do much" with a modifiable object doesn't mean there is nothing you can do. I have a pair of shoes made by a well known creator. I bought them before the introduction of the advanced lighting feature, and they are constructed using invisiprims, which now do not function as they once did, are superseded by the avatar alpha layers, and in fact create undesired effects under certain conditions. If I could simply unlink them, take out the invisiprims, and relink them, I would still wear them. But I can't do that. They are no-mod, and thus cemented into historical obsolescence. I have far less motivation to revisit that creator. A creator cannot cater to, or predict the personal preferences of every customer. But they can give their customers more freedom to look as they would like than any real-world creator could ever dream of. Customers who can attend to their own preferences or needs with regard to fit, color, alpha application, alignment, or other aspects, will feel more appreciated, and will be more likely to revisit the vendors who made that possible.
  21. This is not possible. With RLV, it might be, but it wouldn't be a shape file linked to a mesh body, and it would be voluntary. As far as a customer base goes, they can wear a mesh body and wear whatever shape file they want. You cannot restrict that.
  22. If it's happening on both of your computers, it could be a network thing. There is an exchange of information with the server(s) when you log out. How is your network performance otherwise?
  23. Don't we now have the option, in the viewer, to disable rendering anything above a certain complexity?
