  1. No you just to need to know what you are buying.. Q: Could a “conveyor belt” system work? Example: The vendor board selects an item at random and displays it for purchase. That item remains on display and available for purchase until a buyer touches the vendor which locks it to them for purchase. This allowed the buyer to purchase the item and deliver it. The vendor unlocks and then selects another item at random and displays it for purchase and the cycle repeats. Example image here and credit to Nadi Vemo for the approved vendor design. A: Yes, as long as the item currently being purchased is known. Note however that you should discontinue the use of the “gacha” term for these sales.
  2. I haven't seen this yet. The ones I played so far have been no copy/transfer however I've only played them from one merchant so far. edit:typo
  3. I'm kind of surprised LL doesn't have a system in place that flags your account if it is logged into from an IP address in a far off country from where you generally log in from.
  4. There's no law currently. So we are to worry about a possible future law being broadened even further into the future before the initial law has even been legislated and passed? I am going to start driving 55mph in a 75mph zone since because they might one day lower the speed limit. Just in case.
  5. People with gambling addictions aren't coming to SL spending their life savings. They're doing that at casinos and local lotteries or other online gambling methods. They might scratch an itch in SL. Nothing more.
  6. If you can see what you are buying then it is in zero violation of the ToS. I really don't understand why people can't just be happy with what has already been done instead of reaching for anything and everything even slightly similar to a gacha. If you want to talk about gambling go play some no devil and let me know how you feel about "skill gaming" and "loopholes"...
  7. For print ya... for web viewing not really. I generally do 3000x2000 (or whatever proportions within that) @150 for web But generally speaking anything over 72 is kind of overkill. Im just the type of nerd that likes to zoom in on pictures so I go with 150.
  8. I like to do research but I rarely reference it to make a point in a forum since it is pointless (pun intended). You can site all day long in a forum and it still falls on deaf ears. If someone wishes to agree or counter I'd rather them research it themselves and find sources they trust rather than basing it off my citations. It's all in the fun of a discussion board TBH. Win or lose we both learn something.
  9. Hi, I am not sure what the head banging is for. I was agreeing with you for the most part other than the part where you suggest being unrated is only reason. Even in my quote from Twitch itself you highlight the "Unrated" part while ignoring everything after the "and"... Above is a quote from Twitch said during an interview with the blogger quoted previously. It's not my quote or even my opinion. Basically I am just saying being unrated isn't the only reason since Twitch themselves have stated its because they also feel it's sexually explicit. And in my own opinion because there's some saltiness amongst former LL employees who now work for Twitch. When looking at the ban list one can clearly see by their names the other games aren't just banned only for being unrated. https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/list-of-prohibited-games?language=en_US The only way I ever see Twitch allowing SL rated or not is if there's some Streamer Beware clause where the streamer takes full responsibility for the content that's displayed by them or by some random stream sniper spawning (richards) all over the place.
  10. This was Twitch’s response to the blog that they were referring to in the article. Basically it is not only because SL is unrated but also because, at least in their view, often sexually explicit. And if you look at the company SL shares in the banned games list you can pretty much get an idea of how Twitch feels about SL. I won’t even list the names here lol it’s that bad. Granted I get the sense some of this is saltiness from former LL employees who now work for Twitch. Content in this game is unrated and often sexually explicity, which is content we do not allow on our services.
  11. I think it’s a quite a bit more than that. I always thought it was more to do with the likelyhood of stream snipers coming in and spawning (Richards) everywhere. Twitch has officially classified Second Life as Adults-Only on its website, therefore prohibiting anyone from streaming Second Life on its game video sharing service. (The company discussed this with NWN last March.) SL blogger Ciaran Laval is upset: This is all true, but Twitch, which actually has former Linden Lab staff working for it, knows how Second Life actually works. I didn't explain this very well the last time the topic of Adult content in SL came up, and there's still clearly some confusion among the community, so let my try explaining again:
  12. Ha yes I totally understand this. 2 years ago I went from a 780 (which was actually a pretty decent card to have but fried) to a 1660 to the 2080super I have now. MMOs i can play at max settings at over 100fps. GTA is roughly 60-80 fps for me at max I think last time i played it. SL is like 15-30 regularly and 45 or so on my home sim. My little nephew just recently got a 3060ti as part of a pre-build.. No not hating at all....
  13. Yes I totally understand that they are entirely different "games". I was speaking about the manner of which those games operate and are stored and run off your hard drive. I wasn't comparing genres or saying SL should be the same genre as those. The only thing you get off the internet from those are the communication when playing online of where you are and where other players are and the text communication and what not. Otherwise they are all loaded off your hard drive and not constantly being downloaded and redownloaded. I just feel if somehow SL could have more content stored locally than it does now rather than it being completely web-based it would have a higher ceiling in terms of performance than it currently does. Whether or not it's possible now or if it will be ever IDK. I'm not a game designer or anything like that.
  14. Yes I understand that. Most sims don't change that regularly though and if they did they could update in the background or something. I dunno. I was just making a suggestion. Otherwise I feel people should just temper their expectations some on how they feel SL should perform when it is nearly completely reliant on whatever the current speeds are of hardware and the internet.
  15. I didn't mean as to host it. I meant as to have most of where we visit already stored as in how most other games are. When I travel in say GTA or WoW or any other game I am loading them off my harddrive since they are already installed opposed to constantly having to download and load as what happens in SL. I think people have this performance expectation that SL should run like other games when it's currently impossible since the game is completely web based.
  16. I think a nice step forward for SL would be for it to become more local and less web-based. For instance, having your inventory and a handful of specific sims that you regularly visit already stored on your hard drive so they're already stored rather than having to constantly download and redownload them whenever you visit.
  17. Did you notice this on the same device? I ask because when I'm scrolling through on my phone app and liking things then later go to do the same on my PC I notice that some of my likes are gone. Then when I got to relike them I find out they are actually there and I had just actually unliked and reliked the picture. I am pro on Flickr. I think it might have something to do with cookies. The likes are actually there just not visibly showing on whatever device you are using. Just doing a little research it seems to be a common issue amongst pro and free accounts. https://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157718322609166/
  18. I personally like SAU Motors. They have mostly bikes and some cars. They have a demo rezzer and a track outside their store. There's a couple others I like but forget their names.
  19. Q: Is it possible to extend the policy deadline? A: We are sorry that we are not able to further extend the policy deadline. However, we have been able to extend the enforcement of the policy change an additional 30 days. To be clear, starting on September 1 we expect gacha as a sales mechanism to cease. However we will start with warnings, and any enforcement of the policy as it would be applied on an account will not begin until after September 30.
  20. Sometimes the rez box is mod. I usually just make it transparent and phantom (so you dont bump it). You could also save the coordinates in the description of the rez box. That way when you rez it again you'll know where to place it exactly.
