  1. SL's direct sales aren't bound to any of those. Maybe rules but not transparency. They aren't even required to list what in the picture you are buying. Some do say such and such not included or whatever but SL doesn't require it. Some don't even list the permissions anymore. Which I kind of find funny when I get snotty response (if i get a response at all) to "hey is this mod?". Like if you stated such I wouldn't have asked. Edit: I think MP has more strict rules but it's not applied in world for whatever reason.
  2. Hmm I've taken graphic design, never took 3D. 3D is more game design or architectural. 2 fields that pay pretty well. Is why most of the really good original creators in SL do it mostly for fun. Maya is preferred software (I believe) but Blender is good and free and there are tons of Blender guides on Youtube. Also, the learning curve in blender is about the same if not less steep as working with prims in SL. You're building like your normally would in blender or other 3d software rather than trying to wiggle a shape to do what you want using buttons. Edit: Realizing its been 10 years since I took graphic design it's possible there is some crossover with 3D design since 3D print is more prevalent nowadays.
  3. Hmm there's probably some QAnon forum somewhere where this would be more appropriate. Instead of debating its existence maybe try to see where the other side is coming from. Complete utter denial is just absolute blindness to reality.
  4. It's pretty common. Especially with clothing since you cannot get access to popular rigs unless you are an established vendor. Nearly every clothing vendor started off with premade. As for 3rd party there is still a decent amount of work in getting them into secondlife. It's not a simple save as DAE process.
  5. They did try gambling a long time ago. It was allowed for a bit. When I first started playing there were casinos all over the place. It was as popular if not more popular than most things in SL now. It still resides today and regulated in Skill Gaming sims. As for the rigged gachas, I think most who played them realized this. The issue was the only way to find out was the hard way since odds weren't listed. Very few actually listed the odds. I can only recall once to be honest when the odds were listed. Basic math could tell you which ones to play. I tended to play with the ones with no more than 20-25items in it and 1 or 2 rares depending on the creator. Eventually you end with a with a bunch you trusted and ones you likely wouldn't consider playing again.
  6. It's also an analogy you could use for literally any offense minor or not. I'll try saying that to a cop next time I get pulled over for speeding. I don't think it will get me very far.
  7. It's a joke they heard watching Bill Burr (a comedian) say. Now apparently it's a new mansplaination. (2:40ish mark).
  8. I know of one that does this sort of thing for TMD. They release an exclusive that is only for that event and it's never made again. I think it's a good gimmick tbh. I usually buy them even though they aren't really my thing but they're made really well and usually come with a display case or some other bonus item or feature.
  9. I'm guessing 3-5k for the more intricate ones. They generally have a bit more in them than a typical "fatpack" which is sometimes just 1 piece with 50 colors options and not full ensembles or outfits. I kind of think the 10k was an "up yours" to some of the salt being thrown at gacha creators right now.
  10. Yes kind of like telling gacha creators to sell their complete sets at a flat rate. Be careful what you wish for.
  11. Eek yes a bunch of those I wouldn't recommend playing. Cheezu is normally very reasonable ( i have a couple of their gacha sets) and Luas are fun to play if you're into those sort of outfits. Black Nest normally has a flat rate fatpack option. I only have one rare from them. It was the only thing I wanted of the set. So I bought it from the MP rather than play it. Edit: Actually I bought 2 since it was mod and I could "break" one and still have a backup. A few of the others I am a bit disappointed since I like their main stores and they don't seem to use a similar gouging model when selling their usual stuff.
  12. What was insulting? If something I said is insulting, please report it rather than make accusations here.
  13. You didn't have to pay anything. If in your opinion there are other better quality things to spend your Ls on then walking away from a gacha shouldn't be a hard thing to do.
  14. I haven't seen these. I've seen gachas that let you pick which body you want and others that have 2 or 3 bodies in them so you can keep the one you wanted and sell the body you didnt want. And other than 2 occasions from really bad gachas that I shouldn't have played (in hindsight) I've never spent "thousands" more than the cost of a fatpack of equal quality. Usually it ends up about the same.
  15. Not if you're only going for one thing (as I said). But nice try....
  16. Exactly, maybe I should quit shopping in SL. That I can admit is an unnecessary expenditure. Oh wait maybe I don thave a shopping addiction. Great now I'm in denial. I must seek help.
  17. I would? So you didn't like gachas because you feel they exploited you but played them enough anyways to get 12 copies of the same thing on multiple occasions it seems. Ya you should probably stay away from gacha if this is how you play.
  18. I wish we were able to name names because that isn't the experience I've had playing gacha for the past year. I can think of 2 off the top of my head that I wouldn't play again. I just feel a lot of people with so much angst toward gacha actually gambled on it and didnt get the result they liked. And they think everyone who played it was also gambling since thats what they did themselves.
  19. 3 pull limit on an a box that has 20+ items in it? So basically you (or the hypothetical) were only playing for the rare, had no interest in anything else but to sell the rare for some obscene price and had no interest in the set. So ya you were basically gambling. The rest of us were enjoying a different shopping experience. And not all gacha vendors were predatory. Yes of course some were but they weren't the majority.
  20. I think you just fail to understand that other people have a different view than you do.
  21. I understand this just I don't understand how this pertains to what you quoted me on. So you're saying your angst against me or people who play gacha is about parents demanding protection for their children online? I think my angst would be against parents who allow their kids to play secondlife. I've said something similar before, I'd literally hand my phone to my kid and allow them to play video poker all day while drinking rum and coke before I'd let them within 10 feet of playing secondlife.
  22. EH? I'm not sure what you are trying to say here or if you meant to reply to me but whatever it is please try being less unnecessarily condescending. It's not very "adult" of you. PS how adult is it to dump money into the game to dress and house our virtual dolls? Yet we do it anyways.
