  1. This makes me scratch my head, too. I'm now seeing more and more menswear stores rigging only for Jake and Legacy.
  2. I don't think they're Photoshopped, for two reasons: there is a ring showing, which has the same 'spiky fluff' effect you can see that they're add-on bento nails by looking at the thumb, where the model hasn't hidden their body's nails and it's poking through the 'black triangular shadows' around the nails only occur when the partial-alpha 'fluff' is in front of the partial-alpha of the model's hair or of the fur collar/stole, which will give the usual OpenGL alpha glitch. Note the 'fluff' that is in front of the model's skin; that doesn't have those black shadows. The alpha glitch is particularly obvious around the 'fluff' on the thumbnail ETA: the third (ring) finger does appear to be poorly rigged, as you can see the (white) nails of the model's mesh body poking through both at one side and on the front, but then the nails were intended to be worn with the body's nails hidden, and - if that had been done - the rigging would probably have looked just fine These look to be a 'rings and nails' all in one set, and I'm fairly certain I saw them on one of the weekend event galleries a few weeks back. They reminded me very much of the unusual nails sold by Forma Nails. I checked that store and couldn't see these particular ones, but never discount the fact that some creators do make some very unusual items. Examples of some of their products with add-ons are below:
  3. As Nalates mentioned, there is an Employment sub-forum further down the list. You can advertise that you'd like to hire someone in that forum. If you want advice on creating your own mesh, you can post in the Creation sub-forum, either under the Fashion or Mesh categories.
  4. That's down the the creator's rigging. Signature can be (for want of a better phrase) 'double-rigged'. To simplify it: there's the rigging for the bones - which will simply alter the lengths of sleeves and pant legs when you shange your avatar's shape, and then there's secondary rigging for the body's musculature and flesh, which will expand the bulk of the sleeves and pant cuffs when you change the musculature and body fat of your shape. Rigging for both is double the work, so I've seen three types of variant: clothing that's 'double-rigged' and will change to reflect both bone and musculature shape changes clothing that's rigged only to the bones and which the creator has left quite skinny (what you've been seeing) clothing that's rigged only to the bones and which the creator has made to mirror the bulk of Gianni's default musculature (this type of clothing will make your arms and shoulders look 'Gianni-big' even if you've skinnied your shape right down)
  5. With a Bento mesh head like that one you need to wear the shape that's included with the head. Putting it on over your usual shape will result in a very weird look indeed. Most Bento mesh heads - like the Lelutka Alain one you tried - require some very extensive and bizarre underlying shaping in order for them to look correct. If you want to know just how extensive and bizarre, take off the mesh head and just wear the included shape, then take a look at your system avatar wearing that included shape. If - underneath it all - you need to look like that in order for the mesh head to look right, you can understand why wearing a 'normal-looking' older shape will make the mesh head look weird. Lelutka's shapes (at least for the male heads that I own) tend to make the underlying avatar head look like a shrunken skull, which is why - when you wear their mesh head over your normal shape that is not a shrunken skull, your head looks bloated and round like Shrek's. For both head and body? Yes there's at least one I know of, but you'll look like every other guy who is wearing that exact same combination, and the head part of the combo is nothing like the Lelutka head. Signature sell mesh heads that match to their mesh bodies. You could buy the Gianni body and a Signature mesh head, and - aside from using their respective HUDs to choose the same Signature skintone (or setting them both to BoM - Bakes on Mesh - ability and wearing one of the included Signature BoM skins) that's all you'll need to do. But you won't look as attractive as that Alain advert Signature's mesh heads can be somewhat... brutish in look. That's my personal opinion, and obviously some guys like them, but they're nothing like Lelutka's heads. With regard to that advert, as others have mentioned there will be many variables that make it almost impossible to recreate exactly that look. The shape on the ad should be the one included in the head's folder. But the skin may not be the included skin, and they will have shot that image in very specific optimised Windlight settings, as well as treated it in Photoshop afterwards. In short: it's nigh on impossible to "look exactly like the advert". We've seen this previously - have a look at this thread for an example, particularly my comment here. In it, the original poster was asking why their Lelutka Andrea head didn't look like the advert, and I tried to recreate the ad with the included shape and skin, and also tried to recreate the Windlight lighting as best I could. I'm no slouch at this sort of thing (I work for a major mesh head creator myself, and I'm also a blogger who has worked extensively with mesh heads and written tutorials about them) but even I struggled with it. In the end I admitted defeat, so someone who doesn't have the years of experience that I've got under my belt would stand even less of a chance. Settle for looking the best that you can, to your eyes.
  6. Actanon is a great looking, very muscular body, but it has one huge downfall: there is practically zero clothing content being made for it. In all of the event shopping that I've done (which is a lot) I've not seen a single item of clothing being released for that particular body. I'm not fully familiar with Actanon, nor if it's compatible with clothing for the other very muscular body (Aesthetic) that's out there, but it will be a lot of hassle finding any clothing other than what (if any) might be included with the body itself. Of the other main bodies that are currently available, try demos of Signature Gianni and Meshbody Legacy. Those both have a lot of clothing created for them, and both can be shaped to be more muscular (although not as much as Actanon). Gianni more so than Legacy.
  7. For any spam that's being sent through an inworld scripted object, blocking the owner of that object will stop it. Some serial culprits for that kind of thing have multiple scripted objects sending notecards and LMs out, so blocking the objects themselves might take a while, whereas blocking their owner will stop them all in one move. If you have offline IMs sent to email than you might be able to get their name that way; failing that you'll see an 'an object named X gave you Y' message if you're logged in when the spam arrives, so you know to block X. (You may need to click the object name link in the local chat/conversations window in order to find the owner name.) Additionally, I'd suggest redacting the name of the avatar sending these spam items out. 'Naming and shaming' is not permitted on the forum. You can edit your post (three dots in the top right of the post) for 24 hours after you created it.
  8. OK, looking at that list, "full body" appears to mean only the body. All of the applier options are listed as either being for a specific body brand (full body) or a specific head brand (neck section). My guess would be that - for some reason - there is no BoM version of the neck section for any brand of head. While you could try the Omega applier for the neck tattoo section, I'm unsure as to whether it would work. I'm a CSR for Catwa, not Lelutka, but I have a suspicion that Lelutka's Evolution range may not even have a tattoo layer on the neck for it to apply to. I'd suggest trying the Omega applier first (you may need the Omega installer for Lelutka, if you don't already have it; I'd definitely check in the Lelutka support group to find out if it will even work, before you spend additional money on the Omega kit) but if that doesn't work, then judging from the Marketplace reviews for that specific product the creator is very helpful, so I'd reach out to them and ask if they have a BoM version of the neck tattoo section.
  9. Wear only the tattoo layer version. Use your Gianni HUD to clear the applier tattoo. Once you have the BoM tattoo on, you'll be fully BoM and the alpha glitching behind your hair will be gone. This is likely because the creator hasn't included a faded version of the tattoo layer. Quite why they've not done that is a bit of a mystery, however it's a known issue that you can't change the transparency of a BoM layer, so possible that the tattoo creator thought they would include the faded version as an applier only. It's incorrect thinking (they would simply need to create another tattoo layer using the 'faded version' texture, and besides that mesh bodies don't tend to have an option to control transparency on tattoos anyway) but they may have seen that somewhere else (usually related to things like makeup appliers) and assumed the same thing was needed for tattoos. Who knows? The more I read of this, the more confusing the contents of the tattoo's folder appear to be! Without knowing exactly which tattoo it is, and by which store, I've no idea. I wouldn't recommend using part-BoM/part-applier tattoos, though. The BoM layer should have the entire thing all in one, neck included, and it should show up on any BoM-enabled head or body regardless of brand. It sounds as though the tattoo creator has included a very confusing mixture of BoM and applier partial tattoo options, which - if that's the case - is not very user-friendly.
  10. Thanks for giving us the list of what you're wearing, @Dragonlord1269. That's always useful information to work with. I suspect, though, that what's causing the problem is something that you haven't listed. The issue isn't with your hair; it's either with your tattoo or your body hair (if the body hair is an add-on and not part of the skin itself). The alpha you've listed suggests that you're fully BoM for everything except your eyes, so my guess is that the tattoo and/or body hair are appliers. The fact that the tattoo stops very abruptly at the neck join would suggest it's that part, as a BoM (system layer) tattoo would progress further up the neck. If so, then it's a simple fix: Check to see if the tattoo has a BoM option. If it does, add that, and then set the tattoo layer on your Gianni body to not show, and the issue should go away. If the body hair is also an applier, you'll need to check for and add a BoM version of that also (although I'm guessing it's not, otherwise you'd be seeing the same kind of glitching between the body hair and the tattoo). The OpenGL glitch is a persistent one that - visually - can come and go. The fastest and most common way around it is to detach and re-add your hair. That re-sorts the alpha layers for your viewer to understand and render correctly. But as soon as you teleport anywhere the sorting information will get confused again, hence the second workaround that others have given you, which is to change the alpha masking on the hair. Be aware, though, that - even if the hair is modifiable and you are able to change it - the hair might not look great afterwards. The sections of hair that you'd be working with contain some lighter 'feathered' areas, and those usually don't look good when alpha masking is used (they can turn into solid 'blocks').
  11. I once read a quote that rang very true to me: "Children rarely worry, because they don't yet have that big file in their head, called All the Things That Could Go Wrong". People care surprisingly little for what others look like, beyond the superficial glance. Nobody is going to stop in the street, stare, point, and laugh. It may be that you feel uncomfortable because this fashion is one that you associate with youth, so what could be happening here is something far deeper into your subconscious: a feeling of mourning for that past youth, which is causing you to feel uncomfortable about wearing items you feel you're "too old" for. And you've probably not yet reached that blessed age where you don't give a damn what others think about your fashion choices If this fashion has a smaller part, why not try wearing just that smaller part and see how you feel, see what feedback (if any) you get from others. For example: if you wanted to wear Emilio Pucci, start out with a delicate scarf instead of a full shirt. Baby-steps your way into wearing it. I have no idea of your age (and there is no way on this earth I would be rude enough to ask) but if a woman of any age holds her head up and strides out like she was born to wear That Thing and sod those who think otherwise, then she is goddamn beautiful. (And apologies for assuming your gender here.) If you want any inspiration, look no further than the glorious Carmen Dell'Orefice.
  12. Nobody is going to force you to use BoM. However, the market may move that way regardless, based on demand. In the same way that creators stopped making system/sculpty clothes when mesh came about, so they may stop making appliers now that BoM is rising in popularity. Some creators will continue to include appliers, but that extra step of creating applier HUDs may become a hassle that they decide to stop doing, based on what sales they're making. Some creators will simply make the switch to BoM and stop including appliers altogether, some may give UV-mapped BoM and just include a generic Omega applier (dropping head and body specific appliers in favour of Omega) but there will be no 'forcing' of anyone.
  13. There should be no difference in fit between applier skins/makeup and BoM skins/makeup. If there is a difference then it is likely to be down to the fact that you're not using a BoM skin that has been mapped to your specific head and body's UV map. With applier skins you had no choice but to use head- and body-specific mapped skins and makeup, because - Omega aside - the scripting was different for each type of applier HUD. A Catwa applier simply would not even apply to a Lelutka head, for example. With BoM, you're just using a system layer. As long as a head or body has BoM capability you can use any system layer and it will show up, whether it's been correctly UV mapped to your specific brand of mesh head and body, or not. A poor fit when using BoM skins and makeup could be down to: using older system skins and makeups that were created before mesh heads and bodies were a thing. These would be based on the original LL classic avatar UV map, which - while it's the base for every head/body UV map in SL - is 'stretched and pinned' (the best way to describe it in very simple terms) around each head and body brand differently. using newer BoM skins and makeup that have been UV mapped by their creator to fit perfectly well on one head brand (X), maybe checked on another head brand (Y) that they own, and then sold as being compatible with X, Y, and Z brands - based on the principle that "they look okay on X and Y so they'll probably look okay on Z". using newer BoM skins and makeup that have been created for HD type heads when you own a non-HD head (or vice versa). An HD brow may look odd and stretched on a non-HD head, for example, and a non-HD brow may look overly-thin on an HD head. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to things that need to be as detailed as BoM skins and makeup, especially when it comes to things that go on a mesh head. While you may find (for example) a makeup set that contains two options: one set of BoM makeup for Lelutka, and one set for Catwa/Genus, in reality that Catwa/Genus one is trying to cover two different head brands. And while those UV maps may be similar in the way that they're 'stretched and pinned' they are not identical. So you will find that - while they both look okay in general - if you really get up close and examine them in detail they both don't fit perfectly. Usually they will fit perfectly on one head and not quite so perfectly on the other, which indicates which brand the creator was using for the base UV map. As an example of the above (and as a CSR for Catwa) I can point you to the 'Catwa lip line'. The UV map on all of Catwa's pre-HDPRO heads was quite specific regarding the upper lip. On a fairly regular basis we've had to deal with people who complained that their skin or lipstick didn't fit correctly on their upper lip (even in the case of 'Catwa appliers') - which became known as the "I have a white line above my lip" issue. This was always down to the fact that the creator of the skin/lipstick had not followed the actual lip line on the Catwa UV map, which is very clearly marked in the developer kit.
  14. There was no 5K BoM update charge for Legacy, and there never was. What you probably saw was someone volubly stating in one of the "why the hell would anyone buy Legacy?" threads that they would not pay 5k for a Legacy body, because they saw Legacy as "just a BoM update to the old TMP body", when in fact it is an entirely different body. The only thing that could even remotely be classed as a so-called "BoM update to the old TMP body" is the 'Classic' body, (which, incidentally, could also remotely be classed as a so-called "Bento hands update to the old TMP body"), but even that was a re-working of the old TMP body; it wasn't just the old TMP body with BoM and Bento ability slapped onto it. The 'Classic' body is the one that currently costs L$1. This kind of mistaken "X is just an update to Y" insistence is why I have on occasion had to spend upwards of an hour patiently explaining to certain very insistent individuals that no, they cannot have a Bento or HDPRO head for free just because "it's only an update" to their old, completely different non-Bento head purchase from several years ago.
  15. Log into your account at https://my.secondlife.com/ and append the person's username to the end of that URL (for example, JoeBloggs Resident would be at my.secondlife.com/joebloggs). If it returns the same 'this name is unavailable' message then the account has gone from Second Life.
  16. You stated in your original post that you're not using BoM. So the Save Stick option is the simplest one for you to use. It's really very easy, and Maitreya have simple instructions on their website detailing how to use it.
  17. The Maitreya folder contains a Save Stick. Make a copy of that, save the alphas for one outfit on that copy, then include it in the outfit folder. When you re-wear that outfit you can change the alphas with a single click.
  18. Words that are spoken to the wind... The glasses are a fatpack for LS60 this weekend only. Couldn't resist 'em.
  19. Here's a good one. I just bought a fatpack of coats. Added the unpacker HUD and received three folders, labelled thus: [item name] - F/W Pack 1 [item name] - F/W Pack 2 [item name] - F/W Pack 3 Opened up the first of those folders. Oh joy. It contains five more unpacker HUDs, labelled thus: [item name] - F/W 1 - unpack [item name] - F/W 2 - unpack [item name] - F/W 3 - unpack [item name] - F/W 4 - unpack [item name] - F/W 5 - unpack F/W Pack 2 has five more unpacker HUDs, labelled from 6 through 10, and F/W Pack 3 has five more labelled 11 through 15. Bracing myself I add the first one, hoping it might be the black coloured coat, as that's the one I want first from the 15 in the fatpack. What do I get? [item name] - Freya - F/W 1 [item name] - Jake - F/W 1 [item name] - Legacy (F) - F/W 1 [item name] - Maitreya - F/W 1 [item name] - Legacy (M) - F/W 1 Look, dear designer. I know you want to be all fancy-pants-couture and all that with your Fall/Winter collection, but GIVE ME THE BLOODY COLOUR NAMES. I now have to unpack 15 HUDs and try on every single one of these so I can rename the folders with the colour name (and then delete all but the Legacy M and Maitreya sizes (assuming the Maitreya ones don't have too-big built-in boob bumps). To say that I'm not a happy camper right now would be an understatement. Edit: I went back to the store in the hopes that the vendors would be labelled. Luckily, each single vendor was named after the numbers (F/W 1, F/W 2 etc) so I took a screenshot of it, took that screenshot into Photoshop, and wrote the numbers onto the image, before uploading it to SL to go in the folder as a colour reference. The black coat is F/W 4, so I guess I wouldn't have had to unpack many of them until I reached that one...
  20. page dont exist message Possibly because of this:
  21. Check your graphics settings to make sure they're not set to minimal options. Also ensure that you have SL set to use your GPU rather than any onboard basic graphic processor. The last time that I saw this issue happening to someone they were using an old computer with poor graphics, and a new computer with better graphics sorted the issue out. That would be my guess as to where the issue lies.
  22. I'm glad that you confirmed you're using the newer 'Classic' body from that location, since TMP did give away their original old body completely free a couple of years back before it was removed from sale, so my first question would have been to check exactly which one you had! The first store that came to mind before I logged in and searched my inventory was Aitui. They were still rigging for TMP long after practically every other menswear store had stopped doing so. I've just now logged in and run that inventory search, which has brought up a few more stores for you to check out. For most of these you'll probably need to go back through to their earlier releases (more than a year or so ago) but some of them still have recent releases containing TMP rigs: Not So Bad Aitui Ascend Etham (including new releases) Cold Ash As Chic mentioned, nobody really rigs for the TMP body anymore, and they don't rig specifically for the Classic body either. Etham is the only one in that list who is still rigging for TMP. Be aware that many creators also don't have everything on Marketplace, so I strongly recommend visiting the inworld stores for each of the above. Make sure you look out for any discount or outlet areas at the inworld stores, as that's where you may find some older stuff if it's not in the main store area. That said, depending on what sort of clothing you're looking for, it's often not absolutely vital to have a specific body rig. The original TMP male body was always a little bit peculiar around the base of the spine, being offset by much more than other bodies to give a stronger lumbar curve, so if you want to wear pants without a shirt or jacket to cover the front and back of your waist, you will need to source TMP-specific rigs. But if you're going to wear a full three-piece suit then you'll be completely covered and only need to check the fit at the wrists and neck. In that case you can usually get away with a rig for most other bodies (Slink, Jake, Gianni, etc). Try demos and see.
