  1. Just a question regarding the two above things. I'm not sure which viewer you're using, but deliveries from the Second Life Marketplace don't go into the generic folders in your inventory (Objects, Body Parts, Clothing, etc). Instead they go into a special Received Items section of your inventory. I haven't used the stock Linden Lab viewer for a long time, but if you're using that one there's a 'Received Items' section at the bottom of the inventory tab which you need to click to open and access your Marketplace purchases: More info about that can be found here on the Knowledge Base article. And if you're using the Firestorm viewer then you may see the 'Received Items' folder in among the other main inventory folders, rather than at the bottom of the inventory pane. (This is a feature you can toggle in the preferences for Firestorm.) Keep an eye on your inventory count before and after you try a redelivery. If the number increases after the delivery then the items are being delivered; you might just be looking for them in the wrong place. If the number is not going up then there may be one of three things wrong: Marketplace itself has been a bit slow and wonky of late, and there are occasional days when it can be problematic. It could simply be that you're trying to shop on those days when the system is being a bit screwy if you're trying to buy from one specific merchant and nothing you're ordering from them is being received then you may have blocked/muted that merchant (either recently or in the past) if the non-delivery issue is happening from multiple merchants then there may be something wrong with your account that only a support ticket can fix (this is very unlikely to be happening, but it's an outside chance)
  2. UK here, on a 10Mbps down ADSL connection. Average pings for me now we're on AWS are pretty much the same as before: between 150ms and 185ms. I've noticed my packet loss has increased more regularly since uplift, though.
  3. I'm glad that it was helpful to you. Richard looks great! Hopefully I can get some time soon to put together another post. (You're right, btw; those posts do take a hell of a lot of time.) As someone who also helps a lot in SL (CSR for a major brand) all I can do is point to the above and say "This. So much this." There's no one-size-fits-all way of teaching and learning in SL. Some prefer videos, others like step-by-step illustrated blog tutorials. I've even had people ask me why there's no voiceover on a 5-second video showing where to click on a HUD (my answer: because the voiceover would literally just say "click here", so - since I'd made it very obvious in the video where to click - a voiceover was completely unnecessary). The ones that are a joy to help are the ones who work with you. The ones that can be a bloody nightmare are the last ones that Ren lists: the "click everywhere while swearing" type, who - in the middle of you painstakingly explaining how to fix their neck seam - suddenly yell "OMG MY HEAD JUST TURNED PURPLE! I DIDN'T TOUCH ANYTHING!"
  4. Yes, it's coming in for both male and female heads and bodies. Nalates mentioned her GA.EG head update included info on it (not sure, though, if that meant the update itself was to include the neck, or if it mentioned that new releases will have the Universal Neck from now on; could you please clarify, Nalates?) and both the Lelutka Evolution male and female heads and the Catwa HDPRO female heads also have the Universal Neck (as well as the upcoming male HDPRO heads). With regard to bodies, Legacy, Slink, and Maitreya currently have Universal Neck updates for their female bodies. (I just checked, and it looks like the Slink male body has also been updated, so I need to redeliver mine.) As with the Jake body, I would expect Belleza Freya, Isis, and Venus to be behind in updating.
  5. Thanks for the recommendation, Scylla Do you mean this Bloke on a Budget post? I should really do a few more of those, and give them their own special links page so they're easier to find.
  6. Ok, it was worth checking, since Chic mentioned she'd been having issues but her male friend had no problems at all.
  7. Just a hunch on this: is it only female avatars having problems with the gifts? I got them all just fine (except for the couple that had nothing in them) but I was just wondering if the scripts were detecting the base system avatar being worn (if that's even possible).
  8. It was in the v5.2 changelog (at the bottom of this screenshot of the v5.3 version notecard). Setting foot size to 25 ensured that older Maitreya-rigged footwear would still fit.
  9. Yes, the onion skin layers are what people are referring to. HD heads like Lelutka's Evo range and Catwa HDPRO range are sort of 'hybrid' heads: the full additional layers have been removed and replaced with smaller HD areas (usually these tend to be the eye and brow area and the lips) so that BoM is primarily used for skin and makeup, and - if desired - HD appliers (and HD BoM layers) can be used for those specific areas. Bear in mind, though, that for every person who wants onion skin layers removed there are several who complain about their removal, because they now feel 'forced' to switch to BoM because (for example) they can't have an applier skin and then add an applier hairbase, because the hairbase layer has been removed.
  10. Not just newbies, but older and more longstanding residents do that as well, and yes, it does cause us a lot of hassle. However, almost every brand of mesh head and body that I can think of does include a kill scripts or delete scripts option. Lelutka's is below:
  11. Nice dig at me at the end there, pal. Very subtle. Take that axe and grind it elsewhere.
  12. No it wasn't. The free 'Classic' body was billed from the outset as an 'update' to the original TMP body, with Bento hands and BoM capability. It was never considered a demo for the Legacy body, because it's a different rig and a different shape than Legacy.
  13. That 'darker head, lighter body, pale thin band around the neck' issue is commonly seen with Belleza Jake when you have your viewer's graphics preferences set in one particular way: with Advanced Lighting enabled, and Shadows set to 'None'. To fix it, open Preferences, go into the Graphics tab, and set Shadows to a minimum of 'Sun/Moon'. Watch this video to see the difference it makes. You can see what I mean by that 'darker head, lighter body, pale thin band around the neck' description if you look at this composite image. As a CSR for Catwa we were receiving a lot of queries for help to fix the same problem, so I took the time to create a blank white skin and check various head and body combinations in various graphics settings. As you can see from that image, Jake very clearly suffers from that distinctive problem in that particular graphics setting combination. ALM enabled with Shadows set to 'None' is not a kind setting for any head/body combination, but it's especially bad with the Belleza Jake body. (Caveat: I will be re-shooting that image soon, as Signature have updated their body of late. I also want to add Legacy body to the composite.) As Eddy said, above, Belleza Jake has not received an update for a long time (almost two years, in fact; even the BoM activation HUD was made by a third party and then put in the Belleza store). This particular issue is seen with Jake and multiple brands of mesh head (I'm wearing a Catwa head in the linked video). You may also find that - once you've fixed the Shadows setting - you still don't have a perfect fit. That's because the Lelutka Evolution heads (of which Alain is one) feature a new neck fit that's been dubbed the 'Universal Neck'. Several major head and body creators agreed to move to a new standard neck fitting so that - going forward - neck seams like the one you're seeing with Alain/Jake would no longer happen. Legacy is one of the male bodies that has the new neck, and Signature has also updated (their folders include two bodies with different neck options: one for the new Universal Neck, and one for the SL neck that fits older heads). But Belleza - being as slow to update as it is - is not a perfect fit for the Universal Neck. (In fact, it still has fitting issues with some other head brands, although it's a good fit with the older Lelutka Origins heads.) And in all honesty I wouldn't hold your breath for an update to Jake any time soon.
  14. Since this thread has been resurrected I just want to mention that the Peak Suit - while an older item from Deadwool and only containing a specific rig for Slink - works perfectly on Gianni as well. I'm wearing it on Gianni in this image:
  15. You're very welcome Just seeing your friend looking great and knowing that he's happy with his look is thanks enough. In fact, thank you for giving us all the info that we could have needed to help you out, upfront. It's always a pleasure to help someone who is helpful in return!
  16. The image might be rated G, but is it marked as Safe on Flickr? The official SL Flickr will only accept images that are marked 'Safe' - You can check that in the lower right corner of the photo's info: If that particular image is marked as safe, just check your settings to ensure that your account itself has been marked safe by Flickr. Go into Settings > Personal Information, and look under the Profile section. You should see it say something like "Your account has been reviewed as safe by Flickr staff."
  17. Deja poo = the feeling that you've been through this s**t before Back in 2017-2018 this forum was spammed repeatedly by desperate DJs over Progeny vampire 'attacks' on their clubs. The only remaining post I can find on the forum (the shoutiest and most derailed by the weary forum regulars were clearly removed by the moderators) is this one, in which advice was given. OP, I suggest you read it:
  18. First of all... ...never apologise for that! From the point of view of a CSR (or anyone else offering help to someone in SL) clear and detailed pictures are the best things we can have. Given that we deal with many requests for help that can be as vague as "My eyes look weird, how do I fix them?" then having all of this info upfront from you is fantastic With regard to this: Legacy's Edit HUD does have Bakes on Mesh activation, but it's a bit hidden. You won't see the BoM tattoo layers until you've enabled BoM on the Legacy HUD. Please see below for where to find it so you can enable it: Using BoM is infinitely preferable if you can swing it. It eliminates the alpha glitching issues you may have if, for instance, you wanted to wear additional body hair together with a tattoo. If you use a body hair applier and a tattoo applier, one or the other wouldn't show up; the OpenGL alpha sorting glitch that we so often see would kick in. But with BoM you can add both body hair and tattoos as system tattoo layers without any issue at all. As to the body appplier constantly adding that shine, that's indicative of the body applier possibly containing materials (although please see my point below where I check whether you're disabling the shine on the body correctly). It's not unheard of for Clef de Peau to very occasionally add things on their skins that can be a bit annoying. That's not a drag of the brand or creator from me; their skins are top notch and always great quality, but I wish that - when they do offer such things - they would offer them as options rather than adding them by default and then expecting the end user to have to fiddle with the HUDs of their heads/bodies to remove the addition. Case in point: they issued one skin a couple of years ago, before BoM was a thing: a head applier for Catwa that contained an option to have a scar across the lips. The trouble was, the applier HUD had no option to apply the skin without the scar. You had to apply the skin, then add the Catwa HUD, go into both the lips and the blush tab (those were the two sections of the head that the scar automatically went onto) and clear the scar manually so you could wear the unscarred skin. This bit, though - - is puzzling me. Using your Legacy Edit HUD to remove the body's gloss options should not remove your skin applier. Are you clicking one of the body icons (like the ones shown in my above image) to do that? If so, then what you're doing there is replacing the Clef de Peau skin with one of the Legacy default body skins, so that's why you're no longer 'matching'. The shine removal option on the Legacy HUD is on the 'front page' of the HUD. Click the top icon of the three in the sidebar and use the Shine and Bump options there to remove it. The icons on the left of those there are the ones which remove the materials: (That image is a screenshot from the free Legacy 'Classic' body HUD, as it was all I could find quickly on my hard drive, and I can't remember off the top of my head whether the main Legacy body has more Shine options. Nonetheless, the location for disabling shine/bump is the same on both bodies.)
  19. Giraffe-ish I've no idea of my actual height, but I'm one of those horrible, awful, super-tall guys that so many people dislike and ridicule. Yes, I do. I eyeball it from various distances and angles, and then size up the head and ears accordingly. It takes about 15 - 20 seconds to get it fine-tuned to a proportionate size to my shoulders.
  20. I have no connection to Lelutka (in fact, I'm a CSR for Catwa, who is a competitor to Lelutka) but there is nothing 'clunky' about this Lelutka gift head. It's a full-featured HD head from their Evolution range. It could just as easily be full price, since there is no difference in functionality or included items between the gift head and the full price heads.
  21. It takes all of two to three minutes to scribble down the slider numbers from the Body, Torso, and Legs tabs of your regular shape and input them onto the Lelutka shape, then save it. Inputting my usual body sliders is the very first thing I do for the default shape of any new mesh head that I pick up.
  22. I'm going to hazard a guess that you might have enabled BoM (Bakes on Mesh) on your head and are now seeing a big, poufy clear 'halo' shape cutting through your hair, or what looks like large chunks of your hair missing from certain angles. If this is correct, then that's caused by your brow-shaper and you can fix it by editing it. In the stock Linden viewer, the brow-shaper inventory icon looks like a side-on profile - And in the Firestorm viewer it looks like a bent brown 'wig' - Whichever viewer you're using, right-click your avatar and select 'edit outfit'. Find that brow-shaper icon in your Wearing tab, and edit it. When the edit window pops up, go into the Style tab, and pull all the sliders to zero, then click Save on it. See this video for what you should be doing. If that's not the issue, then please let us know what you're actually seeing.
  23. Well, the name did make me wonder, but I'm not one to judge based on that I will, however, caution against logging into someone else's account, even though they've given you permission to. It's not strictly against the ToS, but it's strongly warned against. And I do understand that your friend may feel overwhelmed and confused at all the options and wants someone who knows their way around even just a little bit more than he does to try and fix him up. But, as a CSR for a major mesh brand in SL, I've had to help far too many people who have been set up entirely by someone else, and who have subsequently messed something up, and the friend has left SL etc, and they have no clue how to fix things on their own. It's always preferable to learn how to work with your own mesh head and body wherever possible. Suggest that he regards it the same as he would do his car. It helps to know how to change the oil, check the tyre pressure, and change a tyre himself rather than taking it to a garage to get it done! On to your closing questions first: No, that won't be possible. A copiable item will not be refunded. The vast majority of large purchases like that will only be refunded in the case of an accidental double purchase. A tattoo layer won't fix a difference in the mesh shaping. Something like that would be able to blend the difference between two skins, but a mismatch in the 3D shape of the mesh itself can't be fixed by a tattoo layer. Neck fixes/neck sheaths (such as the one you enabled on Jake) are more of a jury-rig fix, as you'll have noticed when you looked more closely at it. Going back a little way in your post, I can see there's a bit of confusion here between skins and mesh bodies: I've colour-coded certain words in that, to help me explain the confusion. RED is for mesh bodies, and BLUE is for skins. Lara is a mesh body created by Maitreya, not by Belleza. You didn't get your mesh body from the same source as his Jake mesh body. What you purchased for yourself from Belleza was a skin that goes on another brand's (Maitreya's) mesh body. The reason why your Maitreya Lara body works perfectly with your Lelutka head - regardless of whether your head is from the Evolution range or the Origins range - is because Maitreya have included the Universal Neck fit as part of the HUD for Lara, as well as another neck fit option that works with the older head (Origins). That the 'Lara skin' from Belleza also works well is simply down to the fact that you must have purchased both head and body skins from Belleza, in the same tones. I hope that explains it a bit better. It's absolutely not your fault if you got confused; customising an avatar in SL is a bit of a minefield these days with so many brands and options. That's why everyone will always bash you (metaphorically!) over the head with that "demo! demo! demo!" mantra. (Incidentally, Belleza's three female bodies [Freya, Isis, and Venus] have suffered from the same lack of updates as Jake has.) The all caps was mainly me begging rather than yelling I do understand that hopeless tired place. I deal with it day in and day out with others, and it's a horrible and frustrating place to be. If you find yourself there again, please step back and take a breather. Then look up in Search the inworld support groups (assuming there is one; sadly for Belleza there isn't) for the items you're struggling with, join them, and ask in there. Or post here and get some help from us veterans who have been futzing with all this stuff for years. We can usually get you sorted out fairly quickly, and you'll always find someone who can help you here. Addendum: One thing I've just done is gone to the Lelutka website and checked their FAQ for any known issues. The suggestion to mitigate any issues at the neck with Belleza bodies is to set the neck size to 0 on the Belleza HUD. Whether that's for the female Belleza bodies or the male one (or both) I'm not sure. I've never had to adjust the neck on my Jake body (mainly because I never wear it!) but it's worth checking before you consider purchasing the Legacy body. Give it a try and see if it helps at all. As mentioned earlier, I'm a CSR for a completely different brand and I almost never wear my Jake body, so I'm not as thoroughly familiar with its HUD as I am with those of Signature and Legacy, but hopefully that 'neck size 0' might do the trick. I also suggest joining the Lelutka inworld support group, since they know far more about their brand than I do and will be able to give you more accurate and pertinent advice.
  24. Catwa CSR here. While I'm not a CSR for Lelutka, I work with heads and bodies extensively and own most of the major ones available, so I'll help you out to the best of my ability. You have several things going on here, which I'll go into more detail about shortly. But first, to fix that huge colour discrepancy between your head and body when you're wearing the same skintone from the same creator on both, you need to go into your viewer's Preferences > Graphics, and set Shadows to 'Sun/Moon', at the bare minimum. Having them set to 'None' is what's causing that issue. You don't need to be on Ultra if you don't want to; you can have shadows set to Sun/Moon even on Mid graphics. Watch this video to see the difference that one setting makes. Now to the other issue of the neck fit itself. With regard to this - - he is partly correct. The problem does lie with the Jake body, but not because it's old. The issue is because the creator of that body is very very very slow to update when new things come out on the SL grid. Case in point: BoM (Bakes on Mesh) has now been live for over a year (15 months or so) and Jake has still not been updated at all in that time to include BoM capability. Instead, you have to pick up a third party HUD to enable BoM on the body. And this lack of updates has caused your current issue, which is to do with the neck. The Lelutka Evolution heads (of which Connor is one) feature a new neck fit that's been dubbed the 'Universal Neck'. Several major head and body creators agreed to move to a new standard neck fitting so that - going forward - neck seams like the one you're seeing with Connor/Jake would no longer happen. Legacy is one of the bodies that has the new neck, which is why the fit you're seeing with Connor/Legacy is seamless. Signature has also updated (their folders include two bodies with different neck options: one for the new Universal Neck, and one for the SL neck that fits older heads). Next, I want to address this: STOP THAT! Heh, sorry for the all caps. Please don't just buy full priced items to try and fix things. ALWAYS try demos - of heads, bodies, skins, everything. You're getting there with skins, but did you demo the head and body together before buying them? If so, you would have seen the mismatch before you even spent a single L$, and you might have queried it in advance and saved yourself some money. Also, please don't listen to people who tell you something like "it's just the demo that makes it look bad, so buy the full priced version and it'll look fine". The demo should be indicative of the finished product. If the demo looks bad, the finished product will look bad. Yes, in the case of skins you may see some fine white 'contour lines' defacing a demo, but they are not so severe that they detract from a bad mismatch (as you can see from the 'Ultra' screenshots you took, where it's obvious that the skins match perfectly). And that bad mismatch could be because of this: Theo is a head skin by Stray Dog (I can also see that you're at the Stray Dog store in your screenshot). Stray Dog has his own body skins - just inside the door and to the right when you walk in. Body skins by Not Found do not match to Stray Dog skins. Not Found body skins match to their own head skins (and their older head skins match to body skins by Clef de Peau, just to make things doubly confusing!) The general rule of thumb is as follows: always demo when demoing a skin, check the store to see if it sells both head and body skins; if they do then buy both head and body skins from that store if the skin store only sells head skins, look for a notecard in the demo folder which should tell you at which store you can get the matching body skins (and demo both together first!) The long and the short of it is: you will struggle to get a perfect neck fit with Connor/Jake. Enabling that 'Sun/Moon' shadow setting in your viewer's graphics prefs will eliminate the worst of the tone discrepancy between head and body, and making sure that you have a head skin and body skin in the same tone from the same creator will get you to as close a match as possible. After that, there isn't much else you can do, because of the speed (or lack thereof) of the Belleza updates.
