  1. I joined back in 2007 and I missed the boat. SL was done! All those years of fun were just wasted memories. *dabs at his eyes* Sorry, I just get... all emotional about it. *turns the record over* *finds that it's the same song on the b-side*
  2. @Chase01 Indeed. It's been a long time since I bought a pair because he's no longer making anything I'm really interested in buying, but I recall them being at the higher end of what I'd pay for footwear: something along the lines of about L$500-600 per pair. Back then nobody else was really making that style of footwear (which I guess I could liken to what Rick Owens was sending down the RL runway at the time) but others began to move into that style market later. Now, though, a lot of that style has homogenised around the high loose boot look that I'm wearing in this shot.
  3. This is why I never visit any event these days without checking the Seraphim blog first. If - on the offchance - they've not photographed every item at the event (it can take them time to get everything done for a very large fair, for example) then I just wait until the closing days. I simply cannot be arsed to lag-stagger (good phrase that; I'm pinching it!) around trying to find something that I'm not even sure I'll want.
  4. There was a men's shoe store a couple of years back (still in business now) which put out fairly regular new releases. Their signature style was very unusual (and asthetically right up my alley, as it were; hard to find something like that in SL at the time). Every new release was limited to just 100 copies, and the sales always began at a convenient time for US east coast residents (ie: when Europe was mostly fast asleep). The shoes were extremely well-made (I did manage to snag the odd pair here and there, at other events which weren't 100-limited) and they usually sold out within about 5 minutes. I spent a long time alternately bitching about this business practice (mainly because I wanted those shoes, damn it!) and scratching my head about it (because why the hell would you only want 100 sales of an obviously-popular and hard-to-come-by item which could easily have sold thousands?) Eventually I just quit their group because I was so sick of logging on to notices about something that had already sold out. They're now making mostly dime-a-dozen sneakers and no longer limiting sales. Can't think why...

  6. Hey, lady! Good to see you here. Stunning avatar pic, too "Are you busy?" No. I'm just running around like the proverbial blue-arsed fart because I have absolutely nothing to do. What would you like to add to my apparently non-existent workload? You got white ones? Mine were always blue. I was so disappointed. I guess at least the masks were white, and we had rather sporty-looking goggles. Nitrile gloves: always fun until they split and then good luck getting a fresh pair on over swollen, sweaty hands in a hurry on the clean side of the changing room before you legged it back in! Flapping your hands around to dry them never works, although making chicken noises* while you do it can alleviate the desire to curse loudly. I'm no longer working in that sector, but I have fond memories of it. (*I really should edit "It always ends in chickens" back into my signature here... It's kinda traditional.) In other news, poor Skell worked all weekend (chorus of "Awww!", if you please) including nine sodding hours on his feet yesterday, followed by a walk home in the rain. Collapsed on the couch with a beer and fell asleep in front of the telly. Livin' the life, yo. *snores*
  7. Difficult to tell. If it's a Bento head you won't get the same look as this picture without the same underlying shape anyway. Bento makes it much harder to identify mesh heads, given how much you can edit and change them, both by editing your shape and then selecting different skin appliers. Your best bet would be to wait for an answer from the creator of that image.
  8. Oh... my... GAH! That store! I'm screaming at the shoes. (Goddammit, I wish Slink would make heeled feet for men. I swear, I'd commit bad deeds for that.) That is all so much my aesthetic, you have no idea. Thank you! God, my poor wallet is cringing...
  9. I've tried a few Stray Dog demos, yes. The biggest issue for me with most skins is the eyebrows. Skell's brows have always been well-groomed, and so many male applier skins have thick or heavy brows. Yes, some of them include a browless option so I can use applier brows, but that then takes one slot away from my head. I've got my eye on some Avenge demos, actually. This one is sitting in my cart at the moment, waiting for me to log back in again. I'd also love to see KOOQLA creating male skins for Catwa. The difficulty has been in creating androgyny. I've yet to manage something that isn't still very masculine (which, don't get me wrong, is fine) even when I'm using Swallow's appliers. I don't do full-on femboi, but I sometimes like to pair an androgynous face with broad shoulders. It's a look that I really love. The best skin I've found for that is Avi-Glam's "Liam", which I used for this shoot:
  10. Thank you! I'm notoriously lazy when it comes to even writing my blog ("Flickr is quickr" is my excuse) let alone cross-posting anywhere else, but I'll try to post here when I have something new. Aww, thank you! Yeah, I finally dragged Skell (kicking and screaming, mind you) into the 21st Century. It took the advent of Bento to get me a head that I was happy to work with. Everything else just didn't feel like him at all. I've been saying that it won't be a permanent thing, that he'll take it off now and then, but he hasn't taken it off since he got it. I suspect it'll feel very strange when he does. It's a lot more work, I'll admit. I've lost a lot of the customisation options - especially with makeup, even with Catwa's multiple layers - that I had with the system avatar. There are also far fewer applier skins that I'm happy to work with for Skell's aesthetic than there were system skins (as ever, the ladies get a huge number of choices, whereas us guys are mostly assumed to want to look like Mr Normal, when many of us actually don't). But I'm nothing if not a stubborn bastard, so I'll keep working at it.
  11. I can verify that yes, everyone else sees the body with the alpha cuts. I live in the UK, and thus have a higher ping than US residents (can't wait for the CDN update, so that content is served to me from the UK; currently, busy areas can see me with a ping of up to 450ms) and I'm also on an ADSL connection (I get about 10Mb speeds usually). Busy areas for me are a case of rez in, fly up, and wait. Sometimes it can take ten minutes for an area to rez for me, especially if a lot of complex mesh has been used for the build. While I'm waiting I'm always surrounded by naked people. Sometimes their clothing is floating sideways across their body for several minutes until it snaps into place, but I always see the alpha cuts on those naked bodies. Taking into account what you said in your previous post about the better fit of ladies' clothing versus that of us gents, this means I usually see a lot of wholly-nude women around me (because they don't need to use the alpha cuts) while the men are usually partially-invisible (because they do need to use the alpha cuts). It's like going back to the old bakefail days when one had the dilemma of "Do I tell that nude female avatar that she needs to rebake or will she think I'm perving on her?" I don't personally find it titillating (bent as a nine-bob note, for those that don't know me) but I'm surprised there aren't more horny panting men hanging around at landing points when busy events open Ladies, if you're shy you might want to use those nipple alpha cuts, or at least wear applier pasties and/or panties!
  12. That's a gorgeous accessory, Talligurl. Is it rigged or can it be modified to fit a male avatar? If it can, I'd love to know the creator. My LotD. More Swallow appliers for Catwa. I've picked up three in the past week, and I couldn't be happier. For two years my favourite skin designer has been TMP-only and is finally beginning to create for Catwa. Credits Hair: Exile – Tommy (mix 1) – FREE Skin applier: Swallow – Gothic Catwa (ivory) - out at Black Fair until April 21st Glitter: Demonic – Thalani Glitter (black – Omega) Eyes: Avi-Glam – Elysian Eyes (ocean – Omega) Ears: Swallow (included with the Gothic Catwa skin) Head: Catwa – Daniel (Bento viewer required) Body: Slink Physique Male
  13. *pouts* But I kept my 2007 freenis for just this kind of occasion! (These younguns today don't know how good they've got it with their mesh danglies.) Success! The Muse is capricious. So is my wallet, but Skell needs his shopping fix...
  14. *blows one right back!* Hope you had a great day yesterday. Awww, thank you! *scritches behind ear* Possibly your favourite inconsistent blogger, who has only managed to shift his arse towards Wordpress a total of six times this year, mind you. Flickr is quickr, to be honest. I'll try to do better from now on, ma'am It feels odd to be a newb again. Should I run through the forum, spamming gestures and waving my giant prim whanger around... or not? Er, yeah. Maybe not.
  15. Bloody hell, I feel like I'm at a school reunion. I also feel rather odd not wearing white hair... (Happy birthday, Mo!)
  16. Oh well, I've just put everything back by hand. Hopefully that'll all vanish, otherwise the parcel really will be too full :matte-motes-wink:
  17. My sim has already been rolled back, Oskar. I was hovering at the edge of it, watching and waiting for it to come back. The prims weren't returned :-/
  18. The rollback appears to have fixed the script issues (all sit scripts stopped working on one of my two Le Tigre parcels, and door scripts went doolally, too) but the returned prims didn't re-appear in the sim. I'm now in the process of re-placing them all by hand. As I was doing so, I realised that most of the prims that were returned (I had 15 coalesced objects come back to me in a flood) were ones on which I had set prim physics to Convex Hull to save prim count. Buildings were returned, furniture was not. Since all of the returns were because the parcel was ostensibly 'full' (even though, with CH, I still had about 100 prims free) I'm assuming that something rolled out in today's restarts broke the prim-saving of Convex Hull, so my parcel reported as full because - without the CH benefits - there were technically too many prims on it.
