  1. They already did that, way back. Gianni v4.8 included an additional boxed 'v1.0 Bakes on Mesh test' body that was exactly what you're asking about: a single layer 'native BoM' body with no alpha HUD. They also included a native BoM static head called Davis in that box. Geralt received the same native BoM update and static BoM head in v1.3. That was very soon after BoM was released to the grid, and it was Signature's initial foray into BoM. The BoM 'test' status was changed to 'live' with the releases of Gianni v4.8b and Geralt v1.3a. That native BoM body was subsequently withdrawn, on Gianni v4.9 and Geralt v1.4, and the BoM activation button was added to the main Gianni and Geralt body HUDs. Whether a lot of people complained about the native BoM option, or whether it was too much hassle to update two different bodies, or whether the native BoM bodies were genuinely only ever intended for testing purposes is anyone's guess. The changelog simply indicates "a built-in BoM feature you will now be able to use Bakes on Mesh system layers combined with all current Omega and Signature appliers". But it was available for a while.
  2. The other main way to find out is to have an alt or a friend join a group that you're a member of and check your last login date from the group's front page, assuming that said group hasn't hidden its members (and, of course, assuming that you haven't yet logged in for any reason yourself).
  3. We had all three regions restarting every hour (at random times so people couldn't game the system, as it were). It didn't make any difference. People would set their TP hammers going, then go to bed in the hopes that in the morning they'd be in the store. Two of our CSRs even opened up their homes as fourth and fifth locations. As soon as the SLurls for those were known, the CSRs would log in in the morning to find their homes full of AFK people who were asleep IRL. They were summarily booted and some of them subsequently came back into chat to complain once they woke up The reason we didnt restart every 30 minutes was because the regions were so lagged by the TP hammers that people were hanging around just waiting for things to rez so they could see what to click. In the middle of all that - for people on anything but a superfast connection - 15 minutes certainly wouldn't be long enough. Honestly, those three weeks were a bloody nightmare for us in the support group chat. I've never seen rudeness like it before - people coming into the group, yelling, demanding, and insulting - and most likely (and thankfully) I never will again because you can guarantee that Catwa will probably never again give away a free Bento head because of how rudely and poorly we saw thousands of people behaving over those three weeks. It was straight 12- to 15-hour days for most of us CSRs during all that. I wish the Lelutka team luck. Like the Catwa team and the Genus team before them, they're going to need it. It probably won't be quite so manic for them, as this is not a completely free head, but they're still going to be absolutely inundated.
  4. PLEASE don't use TP hammers. One of the reasons why we had three full regions on their knees when Catwa put her Freya head out as a free gift was because hundreds of people had TP hammers aimed at them. That many TP hammers pointing at a single location is like mounting a DDoS attack on the region. Please read what Patch Linden had to say about constant teleport attempts to a single event: 'When you think of a shopping event and all of that coming and going... And even secondarily to what's going on in the region, what's happening *outside* of the region can also have a pretty big impact on the region. So people continuing to try to teleport into a region that's full for like an event can actually hurt the region a bit, because then it has to spend some time dealing with telling people "I'm too full; you can't come here".' (Source) I hope that the Lelutka team are braced for this weekend, and that they have backup options in place, because I would hate for them to go through what we had to go through for those three weeks in May...
  5. Erin is a head from Lelutka's Evolution range, which uses the new Universal Neck fit. Make sure your Maitreya body is updated to v5.3 and - under the neck size - choose either of the Type 1 neck fits. If you use Type 2 (or have an older version of the body with the Body Fat option under neck size) then those won't fit to the Universal Neck.
  6. I'll be right there for mine. GIven that I'm a key worker and potentially come into contact with a lot of people, I'd rather ensure that I'm not at risk of infecting them if I get infected and am walking asymptomatic. There are multiple ways for a virus to gain entry to the body. Primarily it's through mucous membranes. Did you touch your face at all? Not once? Not ever? Didn't rub/touch/put your hands near your eyes having not washed your hands after touching any surface whatsoever? Remember to think back for at least 14 days before you contracted it. On many surfaces a virus can linger for days. Wearing a mask isn't so much to protect you. It's to protect the people around you if you become infected and walking asymptomatic. Also: https://royalsociety.org/-/media/policy/projects/set-c/set-c-facemasks.pdf And ncbi.nlm.nih.gov is available for anyone to search. If you can't sign in then you may only be able to read abstracts, but that should be enough. You can also search PubMed Central. Great. Now what about the other seven billion seven hundred and eighty nine million people in the world? Going to take a little while for the vaunted herd immunity to get around to all of them, right?

  8. Belinda is in the UK, so the 'annual test' is the car's MOT. Which - under current UK COVID-19 regulations - is still compulsory. It was only non-compulsory (existing MOTs were extended by 6 months) under the first lockdown. The only exceptions right now are if: you have (or someone you live with has) coronavirus symptoms you have been contacted by NHS Test and Trace because you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus
  9. You specifically asked for "any". That was all. I know what the definitions are, thank you. I spent 20 years in the medical science discipline.
  10. Smallpox. There are only two tightly-controlled BSL-4 laboratories that now hold limited stocks of Variola vera, and there have been no cases of the disease since 1978 (1977 if you're looking at naturally-occurring instances; the 1978 case was a medical worker). The WHO certified it globally eradicated in 1980.
  11. Make sure you have media enabled in your viewer's preferences Add your Legacy Edit HUD Go into the Styles tab and wait for it to load Click the 'nail' icon at the top Use the arrows at the bottom to page through the nail colours (note: this will colour both fingernails and toenails; I don't think there's a way to colour fingernails and toenails separately)
  12. Check the date that you took the photo, then check your local chat logs (assuming that you keep those) for that date. You should see 'teleport completed from [location]' in the chat log and can then go there to check if it's the right place.
  13. Slink, yes. Signature, no. It was only the first BoM release of Signature bodies that included separate versions for BoM and non-BoM. You can now activate and deactivate BoM on the same Signature body by using its HUD. They* do still contain two versions of the body, but that's for neck fits and not BoM capability. *The male bodies do, anyway. Not sure about the female one.
  14. Ariana is one of Genesis Lab's gacha rare heads. Some time ago I started compiling a list of head brands and names for quick reference, because every so often we get people coming into the Catwa group to ask for help with a head and it turns out it's one with a similar name from a different brand. Example: the recent Dream 'Ciara' freebie head. Catwa released a head called 'Ciara' in January 2018. We've had quite a few requests for help with that head, so when we ask for the head's name and get 'Ciara' back the first thing we check is where they got it from. If they answer "Free Dove" we know it's the free head by Dream and we direct them to that head's creator for support instead.
  15. Catwa does not have a head with that name. Ariana is a head by Genesis Lab.
  16. Congrats, Chic Lindal: for reference, that 'front page' actually pulls from the SL Blogger Network, and several regular forum members have also been featured there on multiple occasions; Chic, Matt, and myself among them. It's always a nice surprise to see your own posts sitting up there! What's really weird, though, is seeing your posts on the SL Facebook page or Twitter feed
  17. Some of us spent a considerable amount of time helping the OP in their last thread, and we had to read through this new thread to find out that they had managed to fix the issues they were having, since they didn't go back to that one to let us know. Some common, reciprocal courtesy there from the OP would have been appreciated.
  18. If you're going to use a BoM (Bakes on Mesh) skin with either of those heads, you could also consider using any skin with brows and then adding this brow-hiding tattoo to cover them, before wearing your preferred brows over the top:
  19. That's why we believe... Zibska for Dubai Event, Insomnia Angel for Necrotize, and Bonbon for Samhain.
  20. Just to check that it's not anything specific you're wearing and may have missed, try a full reset of your avatar to the default. Viewer menu > Avatar > Avatar Health > Reset Default Male Avatar (Character Test). Log out while wearing that avatar, then log back in (this will ensure that your Current Outfit folder is reset), then log out again and see if the spam continues. ETA: In addition, it may not even be something that's genuinely from you; it could be something that's spamming you with text and just inserting your avatar UUID as a 'joke'. It's certainly not the usual 'offline IM' or 'offline inventory offer' message that you get from Second Life itself; it's more like something that a scripted object would send you. An object IM would be something like this: The object <OBJECT NAME HERE> has sent you a message from Second Life And an inworld inventory offer would be something like this: <PERSON> has offered you <ITEM> in Second Life. Log in to accept or decline the offer The only other record I can find of this exact same phrase being spammed to someone is an older forum post by @Emma Krokus here. Emma, did you ever figure out what this was?
  21. You want to make US$2,000 per week? That is not going to happen without some serious investment on your behalf, be that an investment of money, time, or skill. You will indeed have to start small, and probably stay 'small' for some time before you hit that level of income on a regular basis. And you will need to work in order to maintain that level of income. You ask: "What do they pay on average and what do you make?" - The average 'employee' within Second Life makes nowhere near what you want. Even the biggest creators still need to invest months of time and effort into creating something and then that 'something' needs to sell a lot of copies to get that kind of income. A Bento mesh head, for example, takes months to develop, and you'd need to sell 100 of them every month. If you're a Genus or a Catwa or a Lelutka then that's something you can do. But each of those creators have taken years to build up their customer base.
  22. Hi Aluviel. I'm a CSR for Catwa, not Genus, but I deal with this kind of thing every day, so I'll see if I can help you here even though this is not a brand that I represent I can tell from your 'after' photo, above, that Bakes on Mesh is not activated on your head. We're still seeing your system head poking through your mesh head (even though you now have the skin tattoo correctly worn). So the first thing we're going to do is get that sorted out. So, to begin with: when did you get your Genus Baby Face head? If it was a long time ago when the heads were still in beta, then the HUD won't have that Bakes on Mesh button. I've just sent an alt to pick up the demo of Baby Face 001 and it does have that button. The head's name in inventory (at least on the demo) is GENUS Project - Genus Head - Baby Face W001 - v1.7 so if yours doesn't say W001 or the version number isn't as high as that, the first thing I will suggest you do is visit the Genus Project mainstore and get a redelivery by using the terminal on the desk in there. The HUD numbering is a little bit confusing, since the actual texture on the HUD still states that it's v1.1, but its name in your inventory should be v1.3, as per the below: The Bakes on Mesh button will be visible in both the Genetics and Cosmetics tabs, so once you see it click it to activate BoM on your mesh head. What should then happen is that the 'double face' will go away and you will see your skin tattoo baked correctly onto just your mesh head. Next up, let's address the confusion between 'BoM' and 'tattoo layer' and 'applier skin' etc. What I'm seeing in your images is this: And I note that - in your first post - you state the following: Step 4 is where this is all going wrong. If that is the skin you're trying to apply then it's an applier and not a BoM skin. If it's in a HUD that you click to apply, then it will de-activate BoM on your head, and you will see that 'double face' look that you're seeing in your final photo. Skin appliers effectively hide any BoM items that are beneath them, and here is why: The way that most mesh head and body creators have dealt with BoM activation is by means of a special 'skin applier'. Whether that's in the form of a Bakes on Mesh button on their item's HUD, or by means of a separate 'BoM Relay HUD' or 'BoM Activation HUD', it's still the same. The special 'bake' textures (image below) are put onto your head and body by means of compiling them into a skin applier. So the 'head' section of that skin applier will have the red BAKED_HEAD texture on it, etc. When you click to activate BoM that's the skin that applies, and because of how BoM-compatible viewers are coded, what that specially-textured 'skin applier' does is twofold: it renders your system avatar invisible and it also sends the composited textures of whatever system layers you're wearing on your underlying (and now invisible) system avatar onto any mesh parts you're wearing. (You could even, if you wanted to, texture a prim cube with the BAKED_HEAD UUID, add it to your avatar, and you'd see all of the system layers on your avatar's head stretched across it.) So - once you've done this: ... then you've activated BoM on your head. That 'Genus BoM applier' is a 'skin applier' that has those bake textures on it. You then added your 'tattoo layer' (inventory icon: 'pink squiggly dragon tattoo') in Step 3. But then... you did Step 4: You re-applied your original applier skin. And - just like any other applier skin - it will replace the previous applier skin that you were wearing. Since that 'previous applier skin' was the special 'BoM activation' applier skin, that got replaced and the BoM ability of your head stopped. That's why you're seeing the 'double face'. Your system head is no longer being hidden by those 'bake' textures, so it's poking through your mesh head. The way that I summarised it in one of my blog tutorial posts is: To explain why the whole skin and tattoo and BoM thing can be so confusing would take a little while (I've dedicated three whole blog posts to it in an attempt to simplify it for people) but I'll try to summarise it for you below: When system avatars were all that we had, skins were simple. They were a single object (inventory 'skin' icon) and that was that. If we wanted makeup then we would have to buy special skin sets: a full skin with smoky eyeshadow and red lipstick, or a completely different skin with purple eyeshadow and pink lipstick, etc. (Your account is roughly the same age as mine, so I'm pretty sure you remember all that, and what a pain in the backside it was.) Then Linden Lab introduced tattoo layers, so we could mix and match. We'd buy a plain skin then just buy those makeup combinations to wear over the top, but we would still have to buy them as full tattoo makeups: "smoky eyeshadow with red lipstick" or "purple eyeshadow with pink lipstick". Then - quite a bit later - LL introduced the ability to wear more than one tattoo layer by means of using ADD instead of WEAR, so we could then add the smoky eyeshadow followed by the pink lipstick, and we could even layer separate eyeliner and freckles and blush on top of that. This is important to know when it comes to mesh head and bodies. Each mesh head and mesh body uses a slightly (sometimes vastly) different UV map. The map itself is less important; what is important is how the head or body's creator 'wraps' the map around their product. Genus maps differently from* Lelutka, who map differently from Catwa, who map differently from LAQ, and so on. To get around this, skin creators split their appliers up so you had to buy separate head and body skins, each one mapped correctly to a specific brand. That's why - if you had a Genus head and a Maitreya body - you would need to buy a Genus-compatible skin applier for your head and a Maitreya-compatible body applier for your body, in the same skintone and from the same designer. The body appliers would mostly be unchanging, and any new releases from skin creators would comprise just the head appliers. When BoM was introduced, that UV mapping issue didn't go away, so skin creators now use the same 'splitting skins up' option that they did with appliers. This time, though, it can be a bit more complicated, as there are several ways of doing it. For my above example (Genus head and Maitreya body) you might have creators who do any of the following: system skin for the body (body will be fully textured and head will be white or plain and untextured) and tattoo layer for the head separate tattoo layers for both head and body (you can wear any old system skin under them, as it won't show) system skin for the head (head will be fully textured and body will be white or plain and untextured) and tattoo layer for the body So it's become important to note how each skin creator has implemented BoM. I'm less familiar with women's skins, but I know that - among male skin creators - for example, that Birth uses all tattoo layers, and Vendetta uses a system skin for the head and tattoo layers for the body, and so on. To sum up (because I've already written a bloody novel here!) - Find out how your preferred skin creator has made use of BoM, and ensure that you have both a BoM head and a BoM body skin in whatever options they offer. Both of these should be the correct 'maps' for your head and body (Genus for your head, and whichever body you're using) and should also be in the same skintone Update your Genus head by using the redelivery terminal on the desk at the mainstore Ensure that you're not wearing any alpha layers for your head or body Activate BoM on both your head and your body (I have a tutorial here that explains how to activate BoM on most major brands of head and body) ADD the included GENUS Project - Eyes Alpha (because Genus have not yet updated to allow BoM to work on the eyes, so you will still need to use applier eyes; BoM eye activation will come in the next update) If your BoM skin includes a system skin for either head or body, WEAR that and then ADD the tattoo layer that will be for the other part. If it's two separate tattoo layers, ADD both of them one after the other On your Genus HUD, click the eye applier that you want to use (or use a third party eye applier for Genus if you have one that you prefer) If you then want to use any makeup on top of that, you can either ADD more BoM tattoo layers (inventory icon: 'pink squiggly dragon tattoo') or you can also use the makeup in the Genus HUD (most heads will still allow you to use applier makeup; it's only applier skins that will mess up BoM for you) And you should then be done (*Sorry if that word usage annoys any Americans. I'm English, therefore I use 'from' instead of 'than' here!)
  23. I'm at that store right now, to pick up some weekend sale items. I notice that directly under that gacha on the desk there's a clickable box that says "Having issues getting your gacha? Click here". Clicking it gives a notecard that states the following:
