  1. Unless you want to pay tier (and you have to declare that you are willing to add 1024 to your tier costs if that is needed BEFORE getting a new plot) you will need to abandon your house before trying for a houseboat. {Only for mainland NOT if you already have a home. I knew that. Sorry. If you are at the beginning of the houseboat claiming that should work. Personally, if you can afford it, I would make another avatar or use an existing alt and upgrade THAT avatar to premium so that "they" can look for a houseboat. Then you wouldn't lose your existing home. It is all a matter of how much of a gambler you are, really.
  2. COMMUNITY Pool Club at Domingos would be a better place most likely. https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Domingos/187/150/22
  3. I am guilty of double posting this but wanted you guys to see what those octagon buildings were on the new atoll. Pretty much what I expected. LOTS of beachiness in the community areas. It is really quite nice!
  4. I am pretty sure from other threads on this subject that you need a credit care (not a prepaid card) linked to your Paypal account for things to work. You "may" be able to link to your bank account. I have both linked and have had for decades so not an issue for me, but part of the reason for this is about fraud and money laundering. So if you can't link a credit card to your Paypal you are likely out of luck -- again this from many posts on this subject, not my personal experience. So it isn't just having a Paypal account, it is having a VERIFIED Paypal account.
  5. Well you had 24 - 48 hours depending on whether you wanted a houseboat or a house
  6. Directly east of the houseboat area on Farragut Sound :D. THEY FOOLED US! (I thought they might LOL). Still in test mode obviously.
  7. NEWCHURCH has a lot of industrial and some things that would mix with "mid-century". Both Trompe Loeil and {what next} have some mid-century items (I class them all together in a "retro" lump but they are indeed mid-century on a school exam :D. Actually NEWCHURCH has some mid-century also. Good luck.
  8. I haven't seen any kind of official statement that even hints at this. Can you please identify you source on this? Not saying it won't happen; just saying that if someone OFFICIAL said this, we kinda need to know who and where. Thanks.
  9. Along with the other issues mentioned on the street sign thing and I was going to make some as I thought it was a fun idea --- BUT Street signs go on corners of the STREETS and we don't have the ability to put OUR things OUT THERE. So the best we could do would be to have it on the corner of our property which in many cases (I did the whole continent tour recently) would look VERY BAD. :D. So personally I shelved the idea. I am perfectly happy with all the amenities we have now. I think it would be more fair (and I am guessing The Lab does too) for the folks WAITING for places to get theirs rather than expecting LL to add to the perks that the lucky ones already have.
  10. Actually there is an official BLOG POST on the main page that comes out first and then there is a note in the forums showing that there is a blog post. You don't really need to go to the forums at all. https://community.secondlife.com/ This same info ALSO shows up (I am guessing at the same time and automatically) on your dashboard. Being on the forums isn't much of an advantage --- or one at all. You just need to be watching somewhere. I never got an email about the new homes if they sent one out. Possibly they were all taken before the official "newsy" email was scheduled to come out and they didn't do a mailing since they were SO VERY BUSY anyway. Don't know.
  11. First off the most obvious problem would be that your ORIENTATION isn't matching your parcel, so I would go to a sandbox and make sure that you have the longest measurement of the skybox going in the direction of the longest measurement of the lot. You can turn on property lines in World > Show More > Property lines. When you drag your skybox onto the land make sure you are dragging to the CENTER of the parcel. You can rez a big prim there and look at the land measurements if needed to make sure it is in the center. Then aim for THAT prim when you rez. You have only one meter on each side to fit the skybox in so that is pretty close. If the skybox is mod you could size it down and place it in the center of the parcel and then size it back up again (via the STRETCH option in the build menu). Good luck
  12. Patch has stated several times (once at least on the long thread about adding water sims to connect the continents) that servers are NOT an issue. AND they won't be able to vacate the old Linden Homes until there are spots for all the folks there in the new area should they choose to go. So that seems like it will be quite awhile.
  13. Had to smile although it is sad. We are no longer SUPPOSED to have to downgrade in that chart, but I always do. Thanks for verifying that I am NOT the only one "strange things" have happened to.
  14. It actually told me somewhere as I was getting my home that I needed to have sufficient tier. So there is that warning for sure but I don't remember where but in the "rules about Linden Homes" official -- not the forums. IN THEORY -- you can (now) go to the land manager and tell it that you are willing to pay that $4US extra and that should get you a house or houseboat when one comes up. Again, in theory, you should not (now) have to pay that money UNLESS you USE that tier. Many people on these forums have assured us this is the case. That being said, "I" seem to always fall through the cracks on the what should be rules and end up paying extra or not being able to buy a parcel at all etc. Good luck. I see a ton of replies to this while I was typing so hopefully some good info there.
  15. Sorry, I got confused and missed the post the above was in reply to :D. Most are long skinny 16 x 64 "lots" but since over half is water and they have docks on both sides they don't look that skinny except on the map. There ARE 32 x 32 lots for boats but not many. Easy to see on the map. So look at the map and then TP there to see in RL. For example the ones here with red Xs are 32 x 32 plots and all the others to the side are the 16 x 64. Note that the docks don't span the whole length of the plots on both sides. Some of the plot is just empty water but still there
  16. The CURRENT new homes have bigger buffer areas around the parcels. My place (I measured) has a VISUAL plot of larger than a 2048 lot because there are wide buffers on both sides as well as front and back. Sorry, I looked again and there are the same buffers except on the long skinny "rowhouse" looking plots and a few of the 1024s. The extra wide streets DO make it look more commercial - urban though. These plots -- whether commercial or simply "urban" are much closer together and with less buffer zones. There is also the double wide streets with a (possibly) grassy median between and we don't have those in the already filled regions. The commercial idea came from the comment that the wiki (now) states something about "in non-commercial areas" or such leading us to believe that eventually there may BE commercial areas also. This may be a long way down the road however. Scroll back to find that quote from the Linden Home wiki (or maybe knowledge base - I forget). I think it was Rolig that quoted it and hopefully on THIS thread :D.
  17. If you paid monthly (the most expensive of the choices) then that might be fine -- especially if you don't WANT a houseboat. If you paid yearly, it is actually only costing you a bit over a dollar a month US -- so likely not a big deal. Note that the houseboat atoll at SSP appears to be finished and so the houseboats will likely be out next week after the current updates are over.
  18. To be clear, there are no NEW HOMES coming out "soon". There are HOUSEBOATS. Many people assume that some of the folks that didn't get the houseboat that the wanted will "reroll" to get a houseboat leaving a house available for someone that wants it. So, like now, there will be a FEW houses scattered throughout Bellisseria that will come up for grabs. There are approximately 695 (I counted and added twice) houseboats that will be released. Most folks (again supposition) assume that will not happen until at least this Friday now that Network updates are underway. So far as the NEXT release of new styles of homes, there has been no estimate. What The Lab wants to accomplish and what it does are not always on the same timeline. The first batch of homes came out after their scheduled date (this from Ebbe on a NWN video) and other projects are behind their timeline also. Anyone who has been in business knows that estimated dates are indeed just that. I always estimated more time than I thought it would take, coming in ahead of time --- seemingly to the client anyway :D. For awhile, the "general thought" (many comments in the forums) was that the next release would be planned to be a bit after the birthday celebration in late June -- so July. BUT that was before Patch and the Moles took a month out to get all the EXTRA houseboats out for the screaming hoards. Also some of the Moles will be working at SL16B but I suspect that not all Moles work on all projects so that may or may not have any affect. MY best guess would be late summer for the next release -- which will likely be a couple more themes and some choices within those themes. We can see where the first ones will go by watching SSP and it appears that they will be filling in some of the interior areas. Originally Patch said that they planned to take the existing Linden Homes up sometime around the first of the year (could be after certainly) but while The Lab is undoubtedly happy with the success of the homes, I don't think they expected THIS much enthusiasm, so getting enough housing for the folks already in the 512s is going to take time -- likely longer than they expected.
  19. As mentioned on MANY OTHER THREADS here with the same topic, the only way to get a house or houseboat right now is by using the refresh button on the "choose a home" feature on the website. You will only get one if a plot owner has just (JUST) released theirs. There are many folks trying you your chances aren't good, but someone will get the much sought after plot. There are 695ish houseboats seemingly ready to be released on "houseboat atoll" otherwise known as the squishy pickle or whatever. It is unlikely that they will be released until the network updates are made this week --- so maybe Friday, maybe next week. Other than some house rezzers not working, I am unaware and haven't heard any unusual complaints about Bellisseria's performance. It seems to be on par or better than typical SL regions. The Moles are working on new styles of houses but that will take some time --- probably mid summer. You can watch the progress of their endeavors by watching the SSP regions on the map.
  20. Just noting that there WAS --- at least on mainland -- a static price in the beginning. It was called "first land" and the price was one linden per meter. So $512 for a 512 lot. Also, back in the beginning most private lands had a buy-in even though you were actually "leasing" and not buying. It was pretty hefty in most cases. After awhile someone go the idea to "sell" those private lands for one linden (so free). Some history for the folks not here.
  21. Well I hadn't noticed this before but the GREEN areas which I thought were just long rectangular prims seems to have shapes to some of them. So maybe this is just an alternative layout for something more "city" maybe with some long and skinny 1024s and not just all square.
  22. i think she meant an update on the update. Last that I heard was Patch saying in the Is Today the Day forum post (not the official update thread) that it would NOT be before the "weekend" (presumably that mean last weekend :D not this weekend or next weekend LOL) EDIT: You can watch the map of Bellisseria. Until you see the new boat atoll show up, there is no reason to get too excited.
  23. Likely it was all the fist banging from those that didn't get their houseboats that inspired the new houseboat atoll. 695 boats is a LOT in a small area. Agreed that it looks kind of like Sardineland, but many real life areas are like that and folks do just fine -- maybe even like those close quarters. On my every single region tour last week I noticed and noted that there are MANY areas (sometimes congruent) that have no community areas at all (and some houseboat areas that are very much JUST boats and water and sand) so these won't be the first with minimal "perks". There are at least two major large meeting areas in the new area (with what looks like a new style of building from the map) and I can see what appears to be sunbathing areas and such, so it may be more "homey" than the thin land masses hint at. Hopefully the houseboat folks will be happy.
  24. I haven't noted anything about large events, certainly about business though. I certainly could have missed it though. Can you please let is know where that is stated? Thanks.
