Can't you just walk out your door and meet English people?  I had a friend from Sweden ages ago and I asked her why she didn't go to Swedish sims.  She said pretty much the same thing, "I can meet all the Swedes I want if I go outside"  She enjoyed the opportunity to meet people from all over.

Oh believe me I meet plenty of people in the course of my RL lol.

Was just merely an observation about the apparent lack of them in world, but it’s nice to see people speaking up on this thread :)

Perhaps we may all meet in world eventually lol.

As a Swede, I abhor the idea of looking for Swedes or Swedish sims in Second Life. As @RowanMinx said - if I wanted to socialise with Swedes (even if that strikes me as a weird thing to say . . . ), I can just step out the door. And preferably walk a short bit, because socialising with your neighbours is just weird. I've had and have a few Swedish friends in Second Life though, who I've bumped into by chance.

I think that Brits are the second largest chunk after Americans on my contact list though, if I were to start categorising friends by nationality. Huzza?

You can contact me if you want and i will give you a couple of landmarks where there are some British people but those will be skill gaming areas, that's how i usually spend time  in SL. Actually the creator of the skill game is Irish, the region and skill game owner is English and there are players who are English, Irish and Scots. Not sure if you will find any Welsh people though but then again i am not British and have visited only London and Swindon in RL so can't figure out who might be Welsh.

All of them use voice chat while playing so it's easy to socialize.

I too hangout in London City and know there’s many Brits. I rarely wonder—let alone ask—where anyone is from, to the point of frequently and rather happily forgetting when they volunteer that info themselves; even so, I’ve come to know many who are indeed from the UK. Far as I can tell, however, they’re quite like the RL London I know, in that sense: having people from everywhere in the world, and happy about it. One of the several things that makes me like the place.

I'm from way oop north and I've never known a ruder, filthier, place than London itself (the City, not the SL sim).

People who've asked me about London here in RL, I've always advised them to avoid it like the plague.

Just ask if they think Brexit is an atrocity. If they shrug, they're probably not European and certainly not British. If they're enraged, then they're probably from whatever the British equivalent of Alabama or Mississippi or South Carolina is. And if they speak about injustice, demagoguery, atrocity, and deprivation of rights and European citizenship, then they're maybe from London or Scotland or Ireland.

No offense london (rl) is a pile of doodie well that was offensive... i know sorry, no i am not, but i am sorry sort of for those living there.

There are some nice folks there i feel the folks up north are way more pleasant just my experience though when visiting.

I am a proud subject of The Queen, unsullied by contact with France.

London City on SL is more like Milton Keynes, tbh, but possibly with less lag.

I only ever met other Brits at night, when the Americans had woken up and logged in. SL between 10am- 3pm GMT was usually empty clubs and shops, and someone IMing "HOLA" every five minutes.

absolutely agree but sometimes isn't so easy explain your feeling in chat with a not native language, so if i need a fluent conversation I need a to talk to people from my country.

several times it happen to me to be misunderstood  😬

Harsh! And only partially true ;) . Its wonderful and awful in equal measures. There's 9 million people crammed into this city, some are lovely, others less so! But anywhere with that many people is of course going to be less personable and friendly. You can't nod, smile and say hello to the hundreds of people you encounter on the way to work every morning.

Oh but I love trying to work things like that out.  It seems I am always meeting peeps that don't speak/write English well or not at all so there can be a lot of explaining re: slang & acronyms.  Judicious use of a translator & careful choice of words helps, it can require patience for sure ....

to the thread ... not British born but living here many years.  Personally I never concern myself with where people are living tho knowing time zones can be important.
