The second life that wasn't
Bree Giffen replied to ItHadToComeToThis's topic in General Discussion Forum
It's a good article that describes what I've observed in SL since my first login. Excellent prose Mr Hill! -
Duplicate.

Check your body folder for some readme note on how to use the body. I don't have that mesh body but I've had a mesh clothing that was all white/gray and there was a note by the creator on how to fix it.

New sailboat doesn't work for me

That was a pirate who wanted your booty. -
Here is my example of how I think an SL Mobile client should look. You can open up various menus for interaction with objects, chatting, viewing nearby people, changing clothes, etc. Essentially you can only view avatars on this viewer.

The existence of virtual sex within Second Life is quite an achievement. SL has such a huge amount of non-sexual content that it allows people to get into the virtual world with complete plausible deniability. The sexual aspects of SL are also created entirely by residents who are as talented as professional game designers. Linden Lab maintains a completely innocent image as none of the content was created by the company. One could say that sex in SL was immaculately conceived.

The problem is when you listen to music from the past you get the top songs for each period. Listening to the best of all the prior years makes the entire line of current music seem mediocre in comparison. But we have to remember that there were many thousands of one hit wonders and no-hit wonders for every period of music which are practically un-searchable in Google or any search engine. I occasionally think of a song I heard on MTV and try to find it on the internet to no avail. The bands just disappear! You'd think that every single music video ever made would be on the internet but they aren't.

I stay home for Black Friday because it's just not worth it. It's also raining so that's a double turn-off. We usually have turkey for Thanksgiving and roast beef for Christmas but only Thanksgiving has the very specific side-dishes of mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans and cranberry sauce. Christmas just has random side dishes for some reason.

Seriously? is this legal?
Bree Giffen replied to Kardargo Adamczyk's topic in General Discussion Forum
I think the new sim design has too many changes for it to be considered a copy of the Op's work. If you remove everything that is different or composed of prior designs you end up with a basic parcel with water and bridges. Also, buildings should be referred to as "it". -
What is the best method to learn SL?
Bree Giffen replied to Lureo's topic in General Discussion Forum
I think the best way to learn is to do something that requires a lot of time and effort within SL. Like working in a club for several hours a week, or bringing a product to the SL market, building a home and fully furnishing it, creating a very specific looking avatar, etc. Doing these things gives you a purpose and generate lots of questions which you have to answer in order to reach the end. -
The one I remember most was the Adidas shoe sim with this incredibly high prim shoe. I found a link about it. https://www.campaignlive.com/article/adidas-targets-avatars-shop-second-life/592537 All of the corporate styled sims really didn't seem to fit with what SL actually was and they died out. I think Sansar was designed to fulfill that role where you have a professionally created location and people simply visit the place.

Should there be a "SL's Manliest Man" contest?
Bree Giffen replied to Catrie's topic in General Discussion Forum
Maybe it should be a trivia contest where the men have to answer manly questions like, "What is the ideal truck axle ratio for towing?" (had to google for some weird manly question). -
Invisible Socks Investigated by Three Companies
Bree Giffen replied to KathyGables's topic in Your Avatar
It doesn't look like the socks are an applier. If socks are mesh then the shoes are probably not designed to fit over both feet and sock mesh. Same as the problem with mesh underwear showing through clothes. Does the shoe only work with feet invisible? -
Goodnight. Don't let the bed bugs bite.

You hear a knock at your door.

What if this is an elaborate invitation to a threesome? Are the man and woman good looking? -

I'd never play a disc on my computer. It might try to install spyware. I'd look at their website with Firefox using No Script. -
I think there were ads for SL but I ignored them because it didn't interest me. After having some experience with player-housing in MMO games, I started looking for a place where I could create things and found that SL fit the bill. I've talked to new players who have heard about SL on the radio, read about it in the newspaper or were told to go into SL by their college class. I think SL still has some appeal. There is really nothing offering the same thing.

What are your favorite things to do in SL?
Bree Giffen replied to Seicher Rae's topic in General Discussion Forum
Shopping mostly. I like shopping events so Seraphim SL is my go to website. I like to take pics of nicely built objects usually food-related but it could be anything.
