  1. We were curious to see if residents would be able to take the innertube in that little lagoon under the dock and make their way to open water. (Answer: Yes, they can.) So yes, I was "inspecting" 😁
  2. We are making new, individual, unique, and continually improving regions and releasing them as fast as we can. We do not tell anyone the exact time new homes are released and we vary those times as much as possible. No one has any advanced warning or knowledge of when a release is happening, making it the absolute fairest method possible.
  3. Keep in mind objects owned by Lindens and Moles are "spechul", which is why you can return other people's encroaching objects but not ours. Unless "Allow Returning Encroaching Object" had been set to FALSE on the estate, the land owner can still return it. Which means if you turn that off, they won't be able to return other people's encroaching objects either.
  4. Yes. The purpose of a rez zone is to rez your vehicle and move on. The purpose of what you are asking for is "rez your stuff and sit on it so you can avoid autoreturn" (and take up LI we depend upon for something very important.) So let me put it in no certain terms. We are not going to allow residents to rez in the community areas. It was a stretch getting the Lab to allow us to place public rezzing zones at all, and it is still very much an experiment. If that experiment goes awry from too many places people are rezzing things (for the purposes you described) they may decide to go back to their fall back position: No rezzing anywhere except by residents on their own parcels.
  5. Cutting a parcel and deeding it to a different owner so it doesn't share LI with the main parcel means the LI that cut parcel supports is removed from being able to support houses on the main parcel. That is why rez zones for vehicles are being tested in new regions where we can compensate for that in our decorating budget if there are homes there as well. You are likely not going to see rezzing zones being made in older regions, especially if the LI reserve there is already quite limited. To put it in simple terms, if you have 250LI cushion on the main parcel and you cut a parcel that supports 250LI and deed it to the LDPW for use as a vehicle rez zone, you essentially have lost your entire LI cushion. As has been mentioned, there are wearables people often use. Allowing residents to rez their own items in those places is asking for trouble, both from a technical standpoint and an aesthetic, maturity rating or abuse related one (depending on the resident).
  6. You live in one of the first regions that was done. Sinking the pools to take advantage of Linden Water didn't happen until later. Maybe you should try moving.
  7. We can always look at improving the amenities at the community areas and gathering spots. It's one of the reasons those pools were made to take advantage of Linden water, so wearables and swim AOs could work. At the moment though... building more homes has to take top priority.
  8. Keep in mind the Moles have always been advocates for increasing residents' freedom and ability to do things like rezzing. From the early days when we fought to add rezzing zones to the mainland roads all the way to today. Many Lindens in the Lab (especially the ones dealing with governance issues and abuse reports) prefer to lock everything down in public spaces. No Build, No Entry, No Scripts = No problem. They have given us more leeway in these things over the years, but we aren't going to risk a situation that would cause them to lose the trust they've placed in us that has taken many years us to achieve in determining cost and risk vs benefit. The consequences of that would be... stifling.
  9. If we could rely on residents not to abuse the practice, it's not. But that is a very very very big if, and we have to err on the side of caution when it comes to things like houses not rezzing.
  10. For those of you who missed it because it has been a while, the main reason we do not allow everyone to rez their own things on the main parcels in Linden Homes regions is because that parcel must always support everything in the region outside of the resident parcels. That includes the houses. So imagine a scenario where you decide to rez a different house... and instead of the 200LI model you rez the 250LI model... but it never rezzes. Why? Because other residents have used up all the available LI by rezzing things on the parcel and it doesn't have enough left to support the house you are trying to rez. It's full. You don't get the message that it is full. You just don't get a house. The "Good Neighbor" kiosk I made years before we even considered rebuilding Linden Homes was in reference to resident parcels on mainland, not public parcels in Linden Homes where a full parcel could spell disaster. It's not that we wouldn't like to allow people to rez their own things. It's not that we didn't try to find a way it would be possible. The simple fact is allowing rezzing on the main parcel would present a very real and dangerous element that could break the way the system that allows you to have a house that does not count against your land to work.
  11. In this case more like putting the DVD in the player upside down and pressing play so the people who keep insisting it will work just fine can see for themselves. We don't discount ideas out of hand. The simple fact is most of them are ones we already explored months ago and came to the conclusion the benefits were negligible and there were many costs and factors people were not considering. And negative comments about incorrect assumptions are about as helpful as https://gyazo.com/140c60ee89bcc8c6910f7436a31d156f
  12. Moira is correct. Nobody is going to get upset if a driveway extends a bit to the road or a bush overhangs a little. But people using root prims to hang things far outside their parcel (no matter how nice or unobtrusive) can quickly get out of hand if everyone begins doing it... and the first thing they will say is "how come that person can that person do it and not me?"
  13. that region was inspired by an old English trick.
  14. Not all water can be navigable, and not all navigable waterways can be navigated by all boats... but we try to make them reasonable for the size that they are. These waterways are good for small boats, canoes, rowboats, etc. (We once saw a battleship rezzed out in one of the tiny rivers and just sat there for a while thinking, "Really?!?!?")
  15. That's our new experimental theme: "Giant Rat Nest" Complete with droppings of enormous size for added realism.
  16. We considered that... for about half a minute. First we'd have to relocate the residents who still have homes there. Then we'd have to remove all the old houses, parceling, trees and everything else. Then there are all the behind the scenes things complications like removing the parcels from the LH assignment system, scripts that rely on the ssp region naming conventions... the list goes on. All just so we could get to the same starting point of having a new blank region.
  17. Whether we release them as they are done or in a bulk release the time it takes to build them doesn't change. Everyone just ends up waiting longer while completed regions sit there empty and waiting to all go at once, which doesn't make sense if you think about it. Doing them all at once doesn't increase your chances as much as it puts all your chances for an entire month (or more) in one tiny little window you can miss just as easily.
  18. Yes and no... but that is all I'm going to say about that. What I will say is that we are refining and improving our techniques and practices as we go.
  19. I don't owe you an explanation why we are not doing something the way you think we should be doing it. But when you post or say things publicly that seem intent on implying we do not know what we are doing, then I will correct you on that. This isn't an argument. It's not even a conversation. You're not a victim here. We've asked residents to let us work in peace and not be a disruptive influence in the work areas. Nearly everyone has done just that and we appreciate it very much. What isn't appreciated is someone hovering around us to take pictures of us working and posting them in order to lob yet another complaint that we haven't stopped everything we are doing to address their pet issue to their immediate satisfaction. If that is going to become a disruptive influence to our process, we can remove access to those areas. You let us know something has a minor flaw. Good for you. We are aware of it and will take it from here, thank you.
  20. You seem to be pretty certain how and when things should be done for someone basing everything on guesses and assumptions. https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Hanlon's_razor Never assume malice when stupidity will suffice. Never assume stupidity when ignorance will suffice. Never assume ignorance when forgivable error will suffice. Never assume error when information you hadn't adequately accounted for will suffice. Therefore, never assume malice when information you hadn't adequately accounted for will suffice.
  21. The "pickles" may be the same shape on the map (roughly), but that doesn't mean they will look or feel the same by any means when you are actually there. They would if they were a direct clone of each other, but that is exactly what we want to avoid. Seeing an area on the map is very different from experiencing it in world. Elevation, content and terrain makes a world of difference. As far as the name, Evangeline Arcadia, if comes from a discussion when we came up with the idea of using those regions as a basis for more houseboats. Since the beginning people have said they think Bellisseria looks like a baby dragon sitting in a boot eating a pickle (although some think it's a hot dog). So we started calling the regions making up that island "the pickle". Originally we were going to take those blank terraformed regions and cut out the regions in the middle and just "squish" it together. Thus the name "Squishy Pickle" for the project. Instead, I gutted the center and terraformed it so more houseboats would fit inside, but by then the name had already stuck. So when Glam made the gorgeous beach-side concession stand we faux branded it "The Squishy Pickle Bar" to cement the name in SL lore forever. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
