  1. This part of the image is very telling. The simulator is having to spend a vast majority of available resources running the 5000 scripts in the region, leaving nothing left for anything else (Spare Time is 0.001). That may also be why the Scripts Run % is hurting as it tries to keep up with demand. It may not be one or even a handful of scripts causing the problem, but simply far too many scripts overall. It's also a problem I notice in many places across the grid where someone will create a detailed venue but use nearly all the simulator resources in the process. It runs beautifully when it is empty, but performance degrades quickly as soon as more than a handful of people (agents) show up. It is like building a truck with a max vehicle gross weight of 16,000 pounds and a dry vehicle weight of 15,500 pounds. By the time you add a driver and fuel, it has no capacity remaining for any passengers or cargo. That is why a good rule of thumb when building out an entire region is to reserve at least half the simulator time for agents. This is of course only in reference to simulator or server side lag, not client side or viewer lag which is more dependent on your computer and internet connection.
  2. The rules on what is and is not cheating are left somewhat vague on purpose. Otherwise people try to find loopholes and claim they aren't "technically" cheating because nobody said you can't do this or that. They will look for ways to stay within the letter of the law while running roughshod over the spirit of it. Meanwhile, others will weaponize the reporting process to harass people who are doing something they feel is technically not allowed but is completely innocuous. Someone parking their avatar while they go to the bathroom isn't a problem. Someone parking their avatar on a quest item and using movelock so no one else can get to the quest item IS a problem. Cheating is when someone is using or wearing ANYTHING that lets them fly, run faster, teleport, harass other players, go places they normally can't get to or gives them any sort of an advantage they don't have otherwise. If the Lindens witness it or are offered proof that is what the person is doing, then they can be banned from LR. And AFAIK those bans are permanent. So... Leave all of your scripted attachments at home. Don't do or say anything to someone you think is cheating that they could AR you for in response. (two wrongs don't make a right) Lindens need proof, not just someone's say so. The more irrefutable the proof the better. Always give a time and location (including the name of the region) when reporting something. Ignorance of the rules or "everyone else was doing it too" is not a viable defense. Play fair. Be nice. Have fun.
  3. There are two gift boxes that have always been in Winter Wonderland and are NOT the Winter Swaginator prize boxes. They are in the sky (at least they are for now, until the Swaginator event has run it's course). The actual Winter Swaginator prize box should be at ground level.
  4. It sounds like you had quite the adventure. Maybe that could be considered a prize in itself. Or maybe consider it a primer for the RL holidays that are soon to be upon us.
  5. Crystals reappear randomly on a rolling cycle. So X number of minutes after someone picks up a green crystal, that crystal will rerez again someplace within the region among the rest of the crystals. The fact is it random is why there is no point in camping certain spots in Linden Realms anymore. And no, I'm not going to tell you how many minutes. Find an area no one has been in for a while or is hard to get to and you have a better chance of finding the higher value crystals.
  6. If Linden Realms is offline or the portal is closed you can be sure we know there is a problem (because we are the ones who closed it). It seems there might have been a problem communications with the KVP server last night. That would explain why it wasn't registering that you had touched the page. I'll give you all a strategy tip while I'm here. Since green crystals are scarce and you need one in order to complete the first quest, once you finish the quests don't redeem all of your crystals yet. You need to finish the quests again in one week, but that doesn't means you can't *play* the quests again ahead of time to get ready to turn them in next week. So, if you have at least one green crystal you found while running the quests you just finished, play the first quest again BEFORE turning in all your crystals. After that you can also do the remaining quests any time within the next week. You don't have to wait until the week is expired. When the week has expired, turn in the quests and repeat the process. That way you shouldn't be stuck in a situation where you need a green crystal and can't do anything until you find one. Rule of thumb is: Once you have a green, even if you are within the week and can turn it in, do the first quest again so it is completed before the week runs out.
  7. If something becomes broken, let us know and we'll try to fix it as soon as possible and figure out what is causing it and how to keep it from happening. In the meantime, you can go back through the Portal Park and try to get into one of the other instances (there are 6 currently).
  8. I'm sorry you were having lag issues. We load tested the game with as many as 20 players in a region running, bumping into things, dying, collecting crystals and playing the quests. We were using the same computers and internet connections we use as residents in our normal everyday SL lives. They are all your average laptops and desktops. (I wish I could afford a superfast gaming rig and FIOS. I really do.) Locations of people testing varied from multiple parts of Europe, North and South America. I ran as many as 5 instances of the viewer with testing alts accounts all playing simultaneously. We monitored the framerates, simulator resources and time dilation and watched for any noticeable lag during all of our tests. I personally tested the game on both my desktop and my laptop, over cable internet, DSL, a sketchy wifi connection, and even tethered to my phone's wifi hotspot. In some cases I reduced my graphics settings accordingly, but I never found there to be significant lag while playing. It wasn't enough to prevent me from being able to play, anyway. It actually made the lag in many other places more noticeable to me when I would leave and go just about anywhere else in SL. So you shouldn't be having any more lag issues in the new Linden Realms than in the rest of SL. In fact it should be better than most places in that regard. We obviously don't have any control over what other residents wear, but then again we all have the ability to control maximum avatar complexity in the viewer's graphics preferences. Try the game with your graphics at a lower setting and see if that improves performance. We tried to make sure the game looked decent at lower graphics settings too. And yeah, that last jump is a nasty one. It still gets me most of the time too, but that's part of the challenge.
  9. The SL15B gifts were each only available for one week only. There isn't a way to go back and get one if you missed it for that week.
  10. Yes, the law of unintended consequences, which end up having consequences of their own. That's how we get new features like estate tools that prevent people from putting up ban lines.
  11. Linden Homes were always originally intended to only be "starter homes" and provide a means for residents to experience land ownership first hand before diving in and spending L$ on land purchased or rented from other residents. It stands to reason that many people still using a Linden Home aren't yet familiar with buying land because they haven't gotten to that point. Linden Homes also come with many restrictions. Once a resident decides they want something with less or different restrictions they can choose to do that and abandon their Linden Home, making it available for someone else. Most of those restriction are done in region or estate wide settings. This makes it impossible to mix Linden Homes with any other land or estates. They will always be their own separate little community.
  12. I am shocked... SHOCKED that you would think of that before I did. ?
  13. Hi Harley If you press CTRL+M to open your world map and type in "Sandbox" you can rez there and open it. Or just follow this SLURL http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sandbox Cordova/132/199/26 A sandbox is a place where anyone can rez objects and build things. It normally 'cleans' itself after a few hours and deletes anything left behind. It is a place for residents to play and experiment with building things. The region Maturity Ratings limit what type of content is allowed in a region, but it by no means indicates that the content there necessarily *is* for adults only. I can assure you that nothing in that region where the gift box is would be considered adult content. So even if someone changed there settings temporarily just to get into the region to get their gift, they should not be exposed to anything in the immediate area that is inappropriate. And I can attest that Guy is definitely over 18
  14. When building supportive objects on both sides of a region boundary, make sure that the physical box of both objects is on the same level. If you don't, when you cross from one direction your avatar will be standing *in* the support object instead of on top of it, and you will often fall through even though it is not phantom.
  15. SL has been acting funny recently. I've had more than a few occasions in the last week when it would not let me edit objects, L$ balances were not showing, or I had to relog to get items to appear. That may have been part of it.
  16. Much of what the LDPW makes is for games like PaleoQuest, Horizons, etc. We have to be super vigilant not to give out or attach game items with perms that might allow someone to find an exploit and so we have erred on the side of caution. We've probably allowed that to taint our thinking a little when it comes to things like prizes and gifts. We've made a concerted effort with the SL15B gifts to apply perms that make better sense than we have in the past. If something can be modify and there is no pressing reason it can't or shouldn't be we are going to do so. I personally checked all the SL15B gifts myself. Unrigged wearables like the jewelry have no mod scripts in them, but you should be able to edit and resize them manually. And yes, I just used 'taint' in a sentence.
  17. If it's in private hands it is not a public channel. I'm referring to land owned by Governor Linden or the LDPW (most often marked as "Protected Land")
  18. Most of those channels are small or narrow due to the fact they were originally made waaaay back in the day when everything was made from prims and limited to 10m in any axis and 32 prims for a vehicle. Most boats in SL were much smaller back then because of this. You didn't see 60m long and 12m wide 200LI container ships on the Linden Seas the way you do now. And yes, if you see someone blocking the channel please abuse report the encroaching objects.
  19. Hey everyone! Just wanted to pop in and let you know that a few hours ago we added some regions to the north of the shopping regions. They are short extensions of the mall but it gives a place for people to teleport to and cam shop until there is space in the actual shopping region they want to go to. They are brand new regions so they won't show up on the world map yet, but they should show up within the next 24 hours. We hope this helps.
  20. Hey guys! We know the shopping regions have been very VERY full. We just added 4 overflow regions to the north of the shopping regions. They are small extensions of the mall where people can teleport to and then cam around to see what is for sale until space opens on the actual shopping regions. Because they are brand new regions they do not show on the world map yet, but they should in the next 24 hours or so.
