Not sure I want an open floorplan? I guess it will be a boon for add-on creators though!

I would prefer all new houses for the older themes, or 2048 prims on the older themes, lol.

Would be a big improvement in the trads to get rid of the roll blinds and replace with the in the glass blinds like the newer themes....

So, Back to the Future, set in 1950s & 1980s.

This is what they imaged a home of the future would look like, in the 1950s (the round glass one).

Actual home of the 1950s (ranch style home).

1980s home of the future (the third one).

Actual home of the 1980s (multistory home).

But, yeah, it's probably remodeling of Traditionals &/or Victorians.

I don't think the image is referring to a new theme, I think it's perhaps something like the unveiling of the new community regions (which you can see up in the SSP areas on the map), or other additions or updates. I would love to see another theme though before the end of the year. Maybe we'll see something at the Christmas Expo.

The largest Traditional house is the size of the smallest Newbrooke house? I know many want small houses, but the mix of Newbrooke's small and large houses in the mailboxes is very good. It reduces the need to buy add-ons.

"Need"? Well yes, I needed it. It was good for those who makes a business of selling add-ons too. The downside is having to use land impact on add-ons.

It would be fun to have some new models to try out. And it could go both ways. Many said the Log homes is too big. Themes with only 4 options could get more models added to them.

I think it would create a new interest in the older themes.

But I do not have much hope, it would be too much to ask for. Open plan houses, and options to tint walls, is probably what we get - anything more will shock me.

I want smaller houses so I can actually fill it and use decent furniture to make it look nice, personally. So I would love a revisit to traditionals as mine is in a pristine spot and I refuse to move.
Fingers crossed for a couple new houses to go with it, since all the following themes past victorian got way more than we did!

Second Life’s VP of Product, Grumpity Linden, and VP of Product Operations, Patch Linden will be live on Lab Gab on Friday, October 21st at 10am PT. They will make a few announcements about upcoming features and will also take some time to answer any questions from the community.

So I listened to the Lab Gab ... there was an interruption to the stream, which resumed on a new URL.  The LH segment starts around 5:40 on this URL.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jZrWrU6f

Patch spoke of LH time frames in relative terms, so as to avoid people being disappointed if a specific day isn't hit.  There will be improvements to existing homes starting "almost immediately", with more to follow before the end of the year.  The only improvement he specifically mentioned was new floor plans.  To me, the flickr pic he posted was about new Traditional and Vic community regions, which might be the immediate improvements he mentioned.  Then new floorplans will show up, and either before or after that it sounds like there would be other features that were mentioned in other interviews, like 'my colors', before the end of the year.

Patch stated that Premium Plus ranch homes are on track for release right after the existing home improvements.  That puts them RIGHT at the end of the year (at the earliest) or at the start of 2023.   Patch did not mention anything about when they would be introduced, but if they are targeted for release January-ish, an introduction at the Christmas Expo seems quite likely.  [BTW, by "ranch homes" I assume Patch means 1950's/60's ranch style homes in suburban settings, not 'home on the range' decor].

So improvements to existing homes will roll out incrementally between now and the end of the year.  Personally, it seems to me that there are 3 different types of development that could roll out separately.  But this is my own way of thinking about them.

  • New community regions for Traditionals and Vics
  • New floorplans in older theme parcel controllers
  • New features in home control panels, like 'my colors', but Patch did not share anything about those in this interview.

Patch DID say there will be 'more themes', but said nothing about how many or when.

There was a lot of news about cool stuff like puppetry, new avatars, inworld mirrors, and a 'data store' (news to me!), I'm looking forward to Inara Pey's writeup.

I was listening too, some great news there, besides the new floor plans for old themes, new themes (although I didn't catch if the new would be only for P+, but hopefully not).

P+ homes I understood that would be out by early 2023, but I guess we will have a sneak peak around Christmas time
