Is it wrong that I let my dog lick my dirty dish?

Wrong? No.

Efficient? You bet!

This reminds me of an old parenting joke...

When your first child drops her pacifier on the floor, you sterilize it in boiling water and hand it back to her.
When your second child drops her pacifier on the floor, you rinse it under the faucet and hand it back to her.
When your third child drops her pacifier on the floor, you let the dog lick it clean and hand it back to her.

Even though I was an only child, my parents skipped straight to #3.

Reminds me of the joke about hillbillies who didn’t like visitors..after the meal, they called the dog to lick off the plates (which were nailed to the table). The visitors never returned.

Lots of people in the world might say that it is wrong to use perfectly clean water to rinse perfectly good food off your plate, and that letting the dog have it is actually the better choice.

Matthew 15:25-28

The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs."

“Yes it is, Lord," she said. "Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table."

Then Jesus said to her, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed at that moment.
