  1. Actually, Black Dragon is not the viewer to use as a regular viewer. It has a ton of settings done specifically for taking pictures and making machinima, what it was designed for, and is very resource heavy. Better to use the SL standard viewer, Alchemy, UKanDo, Kokua or Catznip. They are all based on the SL Standard viewer. I prefer how things are set up on the Firestorm viewer as well as some of the toys on it that aren't available on the standard viewer. But to the original question, mesh is here to stay, even if you don't use it. You can always lower your rendered complexity and see most people as jelly dolls if you prefer on the up to date viewers. As for complexity, the highest I've seen has been 1.5 MILLION. She had on old flexi hair, bling jewelry, and and old flexi ball gown. Since she was in Catwa and picking up the gifts, I suspect she was one that had been away for a while and was updating her avi. https://gyazo.com/037e31091789b1109aa0db6a1e765c64
  2. They are basic, but, now that the prim count has gone up, you can do a pretty decent job of decorating. It would, however, be nice if they utilized the house rezzer system like they have in the Horizon sims, and let you choose the house. The only problem with that is that the plots the houses are on are actually just big enough for the house footprint so that could be a problem.
  3. Check Immortals. They have petites, some that are probably 1:2, regular size, some that are half again as large and Giants (11.5 meters tall). They may have what you want.
  4. With Casper, the 2 outages in the last few weeks weren't his fault and were beyond his control. The first one was a DDOS. The second was a problem with his server company. They had a bank of servers go down and had to migrate them to another set and that took some time.
  5. What viewer are you using? If you are using Firestorm, install the SL default viewer and see if you still have the same problem. If you don't have a problem with the SL viewer, then you've probably got a corrupted file somewhere. Contact Firestorm support inworld.
  6. Most mesh is fitmesh so is rigged to the SL skeleton. So, they do respond to most of the sliders just like the SL default body does. I have both Tonic bodies, both Slink, Belleza and Maitreya. My current preference is the Tonic Fine. I don't have a serious problem getting clothes to fit, whether they be specific body clothes or standard sizes. In fact, for some clothes that usually use standard sizes or only one other, I make a shape to wear under my body for those clothes. I actually did the same for the default because these particular designers placed the fit for the tush and the breasts in odd places and I didn't feel like redoing my avi every time I wore those clothes. The differences I've noticed between the bodies are length from the breast line to the shoulder, shoulder width/shape, breast shape, tush shape and calf shape.

Display name is ALL you can change. Once you create your account, you can't change your user name. That's set in stone, so to speak.
  8. When I run into a new female resident, the only thing I would suggest a female avi purchase would be Slink feet. There are several reasons. First and foremost, the default feet are UGLY....paddles with line on them. Secondly, Slink has pretty much become the standard for shoes so, if you want to be able to wear shoes and you're a female, you need High and Flat at the very least. Flat for the beach and when you want to be barefoot, and high since that seems to be the most popular shoe height. The feet are also a good way to get into the flow of things and get used to appliers and some of the basics of mesh before plunging into full on mesh bodies and heads. I encourage any new residents to wait at least 4 weeks before investing in a mesh body so they can concentrate on the basics of SL since SL does have a steep learning curve.
  9. You need an AO. There are a LOT on the MP. I would suggest you try them out inworld since most of the makers have an inworld store with pads where you can try out. You can go inexpensive, like Oracul AO, or go really expensive like Vista or Akeyo. Take your time and find one that fits you. I would avoid ones like the male one that has the guy skip around.
  10. It's 5 accounts per email address. They originally had it per IP address but changed that with those in colleges often sharing the same IP as well as those in the same household (we have 3 people living here). I have 3 male and a number of female. They have different skins, hair, heights, ages. I use them for models and for NPC's where I'm an admin for RP.
  11. Be sure you are trying to contact Colorless. That's the hair creator. Good luck
  12. You can send me the link and I'll be happy to answer your questions though.
  13. Try Mesh Body Addicts and Skin Addiction for users that would answer what you are asking about.
  14. Personally, unless you want to work with a bento head, I'd leave your head alone. The head isn't as "important'" as the body was. The original body we all got is old and very low on polygons so you got a body that if you made too much of a change you started getting sharp peaks on it. The new mesh bodies take care of that. The head/face, however, is another story. Although the Bento skeleton has added more bones, it still doesn't have the finesse of the sliders on the default body. If you look at the editing menu for the body, 3 tabs are devoted to the body. The rest are devoted to the head and face. There just isn't any way you can get the fine tuning on a mesh head you can get with the sliders so you are dependent on the head creator for the general look and shape and then tweek it some for a more personalized. look. If I were you, I'd just wait and keep looking as new heads come on the market. It took me a year before I found one that looked like my default face.
  15. If it was a Mamesando, they are no longer inworld.
  16. Yep. Think what you see if you put on a new shirt and new pants on the default bod that you haven't done anything to. Then add, in black capital letters, MISSING TEXTURE, on it. That's what you saw when clothing didn't rez at first.
  17. Might I suggest, as well. At Catwa, if you walk in and straight back, there's a desk with a gift for Catwa users. Grab it. In that is a hud with the additional colors Catwa makes hair in. For a basic hair base, I've not had a problem matching a hair color with that..
  18. If I recall correctly, the 80-90K rate was about the time CSI:NY had an episode that feature machinima, though very unrealisting, of SL. Also had the program Gossip Girl inworld and there are still players with Gossipgirl as their surname. That was also just before gambling was removed and the inworld banks that crashed. Those that were in SL it gamble left so probably accounts for a good chunk of the decrease about that time. The players now don't really care about gambling and are more interesting in socializing, roleplay, and virtual shopping, which a lot cheaper thatn RL shopping and you don't have to get up from your computer.
  19. I'm showing my age in SL. Once upon a time, when textures didn't rez in, like avatar clothing, you got a white replacement that said Missing Textures on it. Some enterprising players got the texture for that and made and sold actual clothes that had the Missing Texture texture on it to mess with other player's minds.
  20. Ok...you have a land, a fly up, a fly down, a flying, a landing, a standard female walk and a swimming. They actually look a lot like the ones from Mamesando. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business. The end with her lying on the pillow is probably an animation in the pillow. If you look around, you can probalby find similar animations. Try Oracula, Gaeline, Tuty, Vista, Medhu, Abranimations to start with. You also had a very old dance near the beginning. You might check Sine Wave for that one since they were the big thing for dances at that time.
  21. I can think of 2 things. And, btw, it's not just you. I've had it happen to me a lot lately. One is you've had what I call a silent disconnect. You appear to be connected to SL but you really aren't. If you can only turn from side to side and can't walk forward, you're partially disconnected and will soon be totally disconnected. The other is...Although your appear to be constantly connected, there is a short window of time, about 10 seconds or so, every 15 minutes or so where you aren't actually connected. If you try to do anything during that time, you'll get disconnected. That window is actually helpful. If you get ghosted, ie you're logged out on your end but other stil see you on the sim, that window of time is vital. Ghosting doesn't happen much anymore but it still does occasionally. If you get ghosted, you need to keep trying to log in in a different sim than where you crashed. It's a good idea to have favorite that you can choose on your login screen just for that purpose. You keep trying to log in as fast as you can. You'll hit that window and be able to log in. At that point, you need to go back to the sim you ghosted on. As soon as you enter it, the ghost will be gone. If you don't, it's possible that when you log out, your ghost will still be there. It's the oddest thing to see someone ghosted in front of you then see them enter from a neighboring sim and the ghost disappear. Hope that helps.
  22. Make sure you've done a clean install. http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_install That's specific to Firestorm but you can locate the appropriate files in the Second Life viewer. Which plug-in, specifically, is it stating isn't working. That would help too. For instance, if you try to log in and it says the voice plugin isn't working, I wouldn't worry about that one since it's an external server that works through SL and there are intermittent problems with that.
  23. That's exactly it. Some of what happens before that is on your computer, then it tries to connect to SL. Try resetting your router. That might help too.
  24. For future reference, when you do a manual tint, you have to take that tint off. You've tinted a different layer than what the skin goes on so when you use the applier, the tint stays. Probably easier to get a redelivery. In fact, today Slink released an update all their bodies so you need to get one anyway. If you've done any building you know about this...Rez a cube then edit it. Go into the color area and add a color to it. Now go to your library and add any texture from it. You'll see that even though you've added a texture, the color is still there. That's what happened with your body.
