  1. You can get the designer kit from the store where the body is. You might also want to get the Omega designer kit as well if you are going to sell your tats so they can be used on most of the other mesh bodies.
  2. I have a question to check my memory. During the 2nd,3rd or 4th year of the Peace on Earth hunt that goes on in December, they set the places up in groups with starting points then you went around to help with the lag with everyone starting at the same place they'd had the year before. Remember, this was before web pages with the landmarks and hints became common. As I recall, there was a section that was in a new shopping area. It was on it's own section mainly because it wasn't quite finished in time for the hunt. I also remember participating in a machinima that was made to advertise for it. It had major shops, at the time, that had satellite stores (Callie Cline, Bax Cohen, Moody, etc.) This logging anyone's memory for the name of it. I'm sure it's long closed but trying to remember the name is annoying. Thanks
  3. Check out the Jenna by Daddy's Choice Design. It comes with Omega already installed. It's a bit basic but works well with 3rd party expression huds. It run 699L so is basic. Basically, demos are your best friend. Hit all the main places and get the demos and try and find what you like. Do be sure it's Omega compatible. So Catwa, Lelutka, LOGO, Mayreal, Jenna, Vista, LAQ, and Tonic is releasing one at the Skin Fair, though I don't know the price ATM. You might want to wait,if you can, until the fair as others may be releasing There are other heads but those are the most popular. Just remember Omega
  4. First, when you can't get in, rather than jumping here to complain, check the grid status at https://status.secondlifegrid.net Any problems will be listed there. You can also subscribe to the feed and get notices. Then you'll know what's going on rather than complaining here. At least it usually only takes a couple of hours for problems to resolve. Used to take the whole grid done at 8am SLT and supposed to come back up 4 hours later. It was usually 6 hours. Sims would still go down randomly. They'd usually get it back to working smoothly the following Monday, just in time for the next update. I can remember one year Halloween fell on a Friday. The merchants and club owners screamed and they held off that week. The worst was one was when they took it down and something in the new code really made a mess. The grid was down for a week.
  5. FWIW, you might inform your client that the only authorized viewers are the standard SL viewer or the ones listed here http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory. Any others, he may find his access to SL blocked until he changes to one of those as SL will disable others since they tend to be hacks around SL security for copybotted.
  6. Helping Hands is the name of the group. They have a sim, I believe, and would be the ones to help you
  7. What you are seeing is an OpenGL glitch that appears in any application on the net that uses it. If the trick above doesn't work, you'll have to live with it. If you are using a mesh head, see if you can change the opacity on the hairbase or try a different hairbase. If you are using a Catwa head, you have 2 hairbase layers. Try putting it on the other one. Also grab the free ones that Catwa has available for her heads. She adds the rest of her hair colors so you can match almost any color. Good luck.
  8. First, you have breakthrough of your default body through the mesh. You should have a full body alpha n the Maitreya folder that you need to wear. Next, you do have to apply a texture for the skin to yours body. The Maitreya hud has skins built in that are Glam Affair skins, so you can use those and then get a Glam Affair skin since you are using your default (standard) head rather than a mesh (FYI if you decide decide to get a mesh head, the Lelutka also comes with the Glam Affair skins). Now if your skins come from any other creator, you will need to get the applier that matches it. The skin you have for your default body won't work on the mesh bodies. Your body is an attachment, just like a skirt or pants so you have to have a separate applier. You can get one specifically for the Maitreya body but many designers are making Omega appliers. Omega is a system that allows the one applier to work on most of the mesh bodies in SL so makes things easier for the designers. You can get the relay for Omega for your body at https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Omega-System-Kit-Maitreya/6709966. That will allow you to use Omega appliers for skin, tattoos and clothing. Demo your skins. Demos are your best friend. Also be sure that you get a system skin so you can wear it with your system head. Some designers include the system body skin, some you have to buy separately. Demo, demo, demo. Now, if you do need to buy a skin, I'd suggest you head over to Lumae. Her group is about 10L but you can get one of the group gifts, which is complete, and get that and wait a few weeks while your demoing. The yearly skin fair, an expo where most of the skin creators put out new stuff, usually discounts some. If you need anymore help, http://meshbodyaddicts.com has a lot of tutorial and info. There is also the Omega Support Group where you can get a lot of help as well. Good Luck and welcome to the world of mesh
  9. Bandwidth really doesn't need to be much above 800 or so. Think of it this way. SL sends out the stream at a set level. It's analogous to the water the water company sends out. If you have a connection that's the same size, you'll generally her the same speed. However, if you have it set higher (larger) you may get slower. Like having a 3/4 inch pipe and you attach a 1 inch pipe. Your water pressure will be lower. If you attach a 5/8 inch pipe, the pressure will be higher since the pipe is smaller.
  10. I use the Akeyo AO and add my own animations to it. I sometimes buy the full AO, even with the silly animations if the animations I want add up to the same or more than the full AO. I take the ones I want and add them to the Akeyo. It's basically like the FS AO with the drop in. I do have a walk, run, fly and 2 stands in the FS AO that I use when I go to events and strip down my avi for lowest complexity and scripts.
  11. Private sims can allow more than 40 but with the vendor scripts and avis, much higher than 40, everything takes forever to work. Most popular events are listed on the Seraphim site with galleries that show you what's available so you know whether there is anything you really want. Also, most events, including popular ones like The Epiphany or the Hair Fair, the second week, the sims are usually just about empty. I always wait until the second week for that reason.
  12. Check out Immortals. They have some that are taller. All their avis are Omega compatible.
  13. Also, check the Library. There are a lot of good hairs, clothes, shoes and shapes in there. The newest round of avi stuff is set for standard avis.
  14. Welcome back. My philosophy in SL is unless you tell me otherwise, you are the gender of your avatar. The only avatars I am pretty sure are G.I.R.L.s are those that are over exaggerated.
  15. Jeremiah Leitner. Store is Daddy's Choice on the MP. He has Jenna and Misty. They also come with Omega preinstalled so you don't have to buy it.
  16. One other thing, and it goes to being a good neighbor. If you decide to place a prim surround on your land to see something you like, you should make it transparent from the side you aren't looking at so they don't have to stare at something they don't like. Also make it phantom so it's not a solid wall that people run into. Funny thing about derendering. I'm an admin for an RP sim. If you rented the skybox had to be in the area of play so you could only go up to 1000 meters. My neighbor put up this ugly skybox she made herself. When she did, we started having a problem with lag. Anyway, I derendered everything but some pieces kept coming back. When I examined them, she'd put them on a temp rez so she could have more than her allowed prims. She's wasn't happy she got caught since she knew they weren't allowed, but you don't break the rules when you live next to an admin.
  17. I've had almost 11 years from my original rez day on my original avi. One thing you need to do when you can't log in is go to your dashboard at secondlife.com and check the grid status. 9 times out of 10 there is a problem. Also see if they are doing rolling restarts. If they are, the sim you are trying to log in on may be offline so try logging somewhere else. At least when they are updating the servers they don't kick everyone out and shut down SL completely like they used to for 4 hours, if we were lucky. Longest it was down that I can remember was 3 days. Whatever was in that update made a mess. To be fair, there is a lot of legacy code in SL that the programmers are long gone and there was no documentation. They have to be careful since they could do something that conflicts with something that no one knew was there. They find stuff all the time. A couple of years ago, suddenly no one could upload anything. Seems the program that assigned UUID's to things had run out of numbers. The original coders had put a number in that they never thought would be reached...it was. Hope your day gets better.
  18. Inverse has some really nice low prim fully furnished homes that are adult. For a body, there is also the Toni's Fine that comes with hands and feet with the Omega already installed. Most of the Maitreya sized clothes will for the Tonic without a problem. For tutorials, I'd suggest http://meshbodyaddicts.com/video-tutorials/ There are a lot there as well as reviews of the various heads and bodies. Remember that demos are you friend. Demo, demo, demo.
  19. For inexpensive heads, Jenna and one other he made are Bento and 999L. Mayreal also has several heads at 1999L though that one is a bit more complicated. The others run between 3 and 5 K Linden. I'd suggest you get demos and look for when the AK group is open and join that and join the LAQ subscribomatic. AK tends to have her new heads for free for one month when she releases one for her group members and LAQ discounts hers to 500L for a few days with a new release. For mesh bods, Slink, Maitreya, Belleza or Tonic. The Belleza doesn't have the Bento hands yet. Slink hands are separate and are Bento ready. Maitreya and the Tonic Fine both come with Bento hands and with feet that adjust to flat, mid and high. The Tonic and Maitreya are very similar. For the most part, the Tonic can easily wear the Maitreya sized clothes. The biggest difference is price. Remember that demos are your best friend and you're going to want to get the Omega applier kit for whichever body and head you get. Omega is a system that allows creators of skins, makeup and clothing based on the system clothing that be applied to the body and head. Good luck and welcome back.
  20. 5 per email address. When I was doing lucky boards/chairs I made one for each letter and one number because at the time it was any number, not a specific one. I use them now to do those last few slots in a Midnight Mania board, NPC's in the sim I role-play in and am an admin and 5 are models in my store. As long as you behave, the don't care.
  21. Keep in mind, no one is going to be camming in like you are. If it really bothers you, you can wear a choker. You can get free "collars" that look nice from Open Collar an rip out the scripts. They have some really pretty ones
  22. How many prims is that couch/table/chair? How much does that hair/dress/etc add to my complexity? Let me rez you so you aren't a jelly doll.
  23. Remember that you can only control how it looks to you. You'll need to use CalWL or Nam's skin and prom for matching. If you want to continue having that look, you can set your windlight so it doesn't change. Different windlight settings will give you different looks because of sun and shadows. No skin and mesh will look good in all windlight settings. You can't control what settings other use, only what yours is set on.
  24. Do you mean a mesh body? Slink, Maitreya or Tonic are your best bets. All are Omega compatible and are supported by creators. Tonic Fine can, for the most part, wear the Maitreya sized clothes if there isn't a Tonic specific size. Demo and find the one you like. All three have bento rigged hands. For a head, you'll need to demo. Most Bento rigged are Omega compatible. Jenna runs 999L. Mayreal runs 1999L. LOGO has several as does AK in the 2500K range. Lelutka, LAQ, Vista and Catwa have quite a few and run 5000L. Again, demo and find the one that you like. They are reactive to the head sliders, to a point but basic shape, like how wide it is at the cheeks, chin shape and lip fullness can't be changed a great deal. Just remember, demos are your friend. Take your time as the body and head as well as the clothes will be a major investment.
  25. You're way too late to get in on making money renting. That time came and went. Most landowners struggle to keep their rentals full. You must have been reading some old articles talking about Anshe Chung and the money she made. Even she has downsized and isn't making that kind of money anymore. You can't charge the kind of rent you used to be able to charge. People aren't willing to pay what they did, especially if they are premium members and get the free Linden homes. With private sims and the huge amount of mainland available, it's very hard to be profitable renting. Good luck
