  1. Wonder why that discussion was removed? As far as I could tell it was very civil and had a lot of good info for new residents in it.....shrugs.
  2. I just read the OP as looking for what's needed to work with the Bento skeleton. If the OP is looking to create the mesh, that's a more appropriate topic for the creation forum since it involves usinge the program, whether it be Blender, Maya or other equivalent as well as Avastar and getting the rigging and weighting to the SL skeleton. That's a topic that's a bit more complicated than can be covered in this forum. I was coming at it from the perspective of a consumer and what was needed to create an avi inworld from things others have created. I wouldn't even know how to start with Blender. I couldn't even make a simple table with it; my brain just doesn't work that way. Unless the OP is into creating from scratch, with all the mesh parts that are already out there competing with each other, why reinvent the wheel.
  3. You don't have to do anything, per se. Bento is just a new skeleton that all avatars have now. If you want something to work with the new skeleton, you'll have to purchase the parts... The main body won't really require any changes. If you want the hands to work with the new animations, you'll have to get hands that are rigged to the new skeleton. I don't think anyone has made male hands yet but Vista has some out in beta for 999L and Tonic for those that own that body has them for free. Mesh is required to make use of the rigging, like wings, tails, ears, etc. More animations using the new skeleton should be coming out, including for the heads points using mesh heads that are rigged to the new points. Your default avi won't work with any of the new animations coming out that utilze the new skeleton, at least not so far.
  4. Only thing you might want to update would be the flexi hair. Flexis generally have a high complexity. Look around,, maybe at the same maker if they are still in SL, and see if you can find something you like in mesh. Also, if you are wearing any jewelry...same thing. Older prim/sculpty jewelry tends to have a higher complexity than newer mesh, but these are minor things.
  5. To qualify, non human mesh avis, and some human for that matter. Any mesh avi that is outside the average default SL body will have a problem unless, even with being out, it conforms to the SLUV and is Omega compatible. Then you can use applier clothing. Human ones, like Sking for instance, can't use mesh clothing because it is sized outside the average default. Don't blame creators of mesh clothing when you choose an avi that the shape or size doesn't conform to what's available. Mesh clothing is an attachment, just like the mesh body. There is no way designers can create clothing that will fit every mesh body on the grid. Your default avi is mesh btw, just not as many polygons to it so it isn't as smooth. Even in real life, if you have body deformity problems, such as dwarfism or other skeletomuscular problems, off the rack clothing isn't going to fit properly.
  6. Demo, demo, demo. It's probably going to vary from designer to designer.
  7. I've used AVG and Avast. Both are highly rated and I've had no problems with either of them. Go to CNET's site Download.com and search there as well. They vet the programs there so you won't pick up any viruses.
  8. Sometimes the communications get borked. I've had it happen with my credit card and my paypal. Try taking it off and then readding the payment method. That's what I've had to do in the past.
  9. Join the KC group and let Klari know what you are looking for. She's always looking for suggestions.
  10. Another option is to look for cars that are worn rather than you sitting in them. I have a motorcycle that I wear and have only the same problems I'd have walking across sim borders. The worn vehicles don't move as fast as those using the regular car scripts but they do tend to cross sims nicely.
  11. One of the problems with the TMP hud is that the appliers don't always end up where you think they would be. If you got the YAY, it's been installed. Check all your different categories. It's in there somewhere, you just have to find where it got put.
  12. You didn't say who the designer is but, with most color change huds, you are presented with a palette that shows the different colors and textures...Something like this https://gyazo.com/f973c5ef361a2174d35f096880dc7e91 or this https://gyazo.com/00fe9b68b8c8401b4486a92b1785ebd3 On the latter, if you look where the buttons the red arrow is pointing to, those indicate the areas that have texture change and shows the options, like this for the button the red arrow was pointing to. https://gyazo.com/e544c59cd4a8eadac120b38d8bd3c3d0 The opening page was just a picture of the item. Hope that helps.
  13. Did you enter the request on the Instant Buy or the Best Rate? Instant, you'll get right away. Best Rate you have to wait until someone wants to buy at the rate you want...It's basically a money exchange rather than a direct buy. If you did the best rate, cancel it. Then redo it on the Instant Buy. If the problem is that you are getting an error message, try removing that payment type the re-add it. I've have that happen a time or two. If neither of those 2 situations apply, please edit your question to give us specifics.
  14. Amethyst answered but you can also add your alt as an owner in the group and, if your land is deeded to your land group, your alt, as an owner, would be able to TP around.
  15. Mesh bodies don't need an alpha mask that you make like you do for the classic SL body. Most mesh clothing for the Aesthetic is made for it and rigged so you don't need an alpha to wear it. Otherwise, you have to use the alpha cuts that are included with the body in the hud. That's an intergral part of the body scripting so won't be available to designers. You'll have to design your mesh clothing to either work with the provided alpha cuts or get the developer kit and rig your mesh clothing to fit the Aesthetic body without alphas.
  16. Personally, I'd advise you to wait a few months before purchasing a mesh body/head until you learn how SL works. SL has a steep learning curve without adding the second mountain that is mesh bodies. The ONLY thing I'd tell you to go ahead and purchase would be the Slink feet. They are pretty much the standard for mesh feet and you're going to need them to get shoes you can wear. You can get appliers for the feet that match your skin easily enough and they are a good way to get the basics of how mesh body part work. Good luck.
  17. Rather than try to match the body to the skin on the default SL head, get the Slink or Omega applier for the body that matches the skin tone. You can, if you're good at it, eventually match the skin tone but you aren't going to have the light reflection look. Most skin makers make the appliers for the bodies that match their skin tones. Usually, unless they release a new line of skin tones, once you get the applier you won't need to purchase that part again. Take a trip to Designer Circle or one of the other events going on right now. You can usually find a discounted set. You could also head over to Lumae and join her group, less than 5L btw. She has several free skins for group members that include all the appliers for the bodies and heads. You don't have to buy anything else. To use the Omega appliers with your skin, you'll need to go to the Omega Solutions store. Join the Omega support group, it's free, and you can purchase the Omega kit for you Slink body for 50L or you can get in on the MP for 99L.
  18. Just an FYI..LL will most probably not get involved as this is a player to player problem. Also, Parcel/sim owners are "gods" second only to LL and can, as long as they don't violate the SL TOS, do as they please. This means they can ban you if they don't like the outfit you have on, the color of your eyes or the way you walk.
  19. Try a different sim. Sometimes it takes a bit for a rerolled sim to stabilize.
  20. Try again now. SL was doing rolling restarts and you probably were trying to log into a sim that was offline. Remember that on Tuesday mornings, you'll run into that a lot.
  21. Necropost much? Original thread is from 2014. It's almost the end of 2016 and still going strong.
  22. If you are talking about the free LInden Home you can have as a premium member, the answer is no. You can choose from those available and then you get the 175 prims to decorate with. If you want to put out a house of your own, you'll have to purchase Mainland land or rent from a private estate.
  23. I'm disabled and SL gives me the chance to wear clothing I can't in RL. I also get to meet people from all over the world that I'd never get the chance to in RL.
