  1. LAQ uses motion capture for theirs and others are going the same way. They're already using it for body animations so adding the head/face is easy enough
  2. Actually, there is a former police officer in New York that was originally convicted because of thoughts http://nymag.com/news/features/cannibal-cop-2014-1/. From what I've read, apparently even his lawyers weren't aware of Dolcett. There's a whole set of comics done by an anonymous artist as well as many short stories on the web. It's not mainstream and you do have to dig a bit for it in SL. I've looked into it on an alt and interestingly, there are more female avis interested in BDSM. Dolcett is an extreme form of BDSM. Unfortunately, most I've run into have no idea how to roleplay; just jump on poseballs. Just my 2L worth
  3. TMP has the problems listed above. My understanding is that the creators had a falling out and there won't be any updates. The appliers problem is because of the Style Hud. Creators have to upload their UUIDs into the database owned by TMP. This would allow the owners to use those in world since the applier scripts use the UUID. That violates the EULA of several of the creators of the templates and textures I use. Technically, since the TMP uses the SLUV map..is the standard map for skins and clothes SL created, there is no reason why TMP couldn't be Omega compatible except that the creators chose not allow it. For mesh, Omega compatibility is a must for skin if nothing else. Bento rigging is for two things. It allows for your hands to move more realistically with the right AO. For the head, 2 things.. The Bento rigging has a mesh head rigged to the sliders that allow you to customize the face like the default head does, for the most part. If you do photography, it allows for facial expressions. Demo, demo, demo
  4. Getting a mesh body is your best bet. Next would be just the feet. For the price of the feet you could get the Tonic body that includes the 3 popular heights of Slink compatible feet. System feet are really bad; they look like flippers with lines on them. Bodies can be resized though, some older mesh still uses standard sizing. Check https://cutesexycool.wordpress.com for info on mesh bodies. They can get complicated. You'll be getting into appliers. There are tutorials on that site.
  5. https://gyazo.com/e33b839f36b81aeb9d55c7e3531ee902. That's what I looked like when I first rezzed, as did everyone at that time. Changed eventually but don't have access to those pictures at the moment
  6. first, be sure you have the matching skin and head skin appliers. Since the Toddledoo is Omega compatible, that's easy enough. Next, be sure you are using something like CalWL or Nam's skin and prim for your windlight setting to be sure you don't have odd shadows. Next, and this is important, compare the colors on the SIDE of the neck, not under the chin. Under the chin you have shading for that chin underside as well as shading on the neck for the trachea. That shading can throw the appearance of the color off. THose things will usually let you match perfectly.
  7. you've not said what kind of glitches. If it;s the body showing through, you use the alpha tab in your hud and turn off the parts showing through.
  8. There are a lot here and I'm not going to read through them all. Here's the thing, I understand you indentifying with your avi. However, Progeny can't hurt you. To those players, you're a non player character in their own little world. You, the real you, isn't involved in their little world. There are rude "roleplayers" all over SL that only care about what they want. Block and move on. If you are identifying that closely with your avi, you need to step back. It's just pixels on the screen. You need to keep in mind that it's not you. If you can't make that separation, Second Life may not be for you.
  9. Sounds like the hud may be borked. Get a redelivery of your body or unpack a new one.
  10. The main reason I suggested the Omega is the support group is there to help and Chellyne has made video tutorials. It may have changed but last I checked, the Maitreya group doesn't allow chat. You can contact the creator of Maitreya and she does get back to you if you need help.
  11. It doesn't, at least not yet. http://slpoweredbyomega.com/supported-meshes/ List of supported meshes. Best you can do is contact the creator.
  12. You become close to people when you roleplay with them. So far I've lost 3 close friends from where I play. One was the person that really taught me how to roleplay. She had a wicked sense of humor and was fearless in her RP. She was diagnosed with cancer and didn't have the strength to play the last couple of years. Another was a big bear of a man in SL and, from his SL/RL significant other, he was like that in real life, even to his looks. He had a massive heart attack and died. The third had hooked up in RL with his SL partner. He passed from a ruptured stomach ulcer. We had a memorial for them. I created a slide show frame with all the pictures I could round up, funny, touching, serious, pictures that remind us of them. We also have stores or streets named for them in our sim. I really miss them. Feel free to contact me in world or use my stories if you like.
  13. Head over to the Maitreya store or the Omega Solutions store. At Maitreya, the kit is where the body is. You want the developer kit. The Omega kit, you go to the Omega Solutions sim and find the blue crystal. Chose developer corner and you'll land in front of it. Just follow the directions for making your applier hud. Omega is a bit easier to make and you can get help at the Omega Support group in world.
  14. That converter is pretty much useless now. It was for very old appliers that used a note card. Siddean at Slink changed the scripting so it no longer has that notecard. You can toss that kit since none of the current appliers use that system anymore.
  15. Eyes, with a mesh head, you have to have one that is Bento rigged. The original mesh heads were created when there were just 2 bones to rig to. With the new Bento skelton there are 30 in the head. Eyes get...complicated. The size, the first slider under the eyes, will make the eye itself larger or smaller. Then the eye opening affect the opening itself. The inside and outside corners you want around 50 as when you tilt them up or down will pull the eye narrower. Eye bags will affect the opening as well. You want a little bit as it makes your eyes bigger. Your upper cheek setting will also affect your eyes. You can play with the bento demos and see what they do. First save a copy of your shape. Then play with it with the demo. When you find one you like, save it as Your name-then the name of the head...For instance Bobbie-LOGO or Bobbie-Lelutka. Play with the different heads to find the one that starts with larger eyes to give you a headstart. Good Luck.
  16. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to have a mesh body and head. I have alts that aren't all decked out. If you are wearing mesh clothing, very little of the standard body is seen. The Free Dove has a lot of really good stuff. As of the writing of this post, 7 Deadly Skins has free join where you can get the group skin as well as Midnight Mania boards. Analog Dog, down on the beach, has free hairs that are really nice. Hit the Linden Realms and gather crystals. In an hour you can get enough to join no_match for 50L. They have a bunch of free hair for group members. Emotions group is free and they have free hair as well. With a bit of running around you can set up a really nice avi. I'd say most players in SL don't have mesh bodies, just a vocal group. We're also coming up on a big hunt time in SL. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Free Dove also has a monthly hunt with name designers. Hunts are a good way to get to know SL and the designers as well. The one thing, if you are female, you'll need feet. Fortunately the Slink feet aren't expensive. Again, a few hours running around in Linden Realms and you'll have enough.
  17. For the SL viewer on your computer, there are some things you can do to improve your power. Go to your preferences then graphics. Now, set to medium for your quality. Unless you are taking pictures, you won't miss the shadows and stuff like that. You can change to ultra when you want to take a picture. Next, set your draw distance to 120 max. You don't need to render stuff n the next sim. Next turn down the avatar complexity you'll render to about 100,000. Go to the second tab in the graphics section and enable the lossy textures. Also, find your cache setting and max it out. The default is about 512. You can max it out to almost 10,000, which will help since you won't have to constantly have to upload the textures around you when you land. Make sure you check where the mesh you buy attaches. The default is the right hand. If you have too much attached to one point, it can make loading really slow. You can move the attachment by right clicking on the item in your inventory and select attach to. You'll get a list of attachment points. Coose one less used like a pex for a top and a hip for pants/skirt. Next, check your download speed. Contrary to what you might think, higher isn't better. Max should be 800. Think of it this way. SL goes out a set speed and no faster, like water in the water main to you house. Most houses generally have a smaller pipe that goes up to the house rather than larger so you get better pressure. If the main is a 6 inch pipe and you attach a 4 inch pipe, your pressure will be great. If you attach an 8 inch pipe, the pressure will be lower. The data stream works the same way. Setting it higher can actually make it slower. Those settings should make things work better. Good luck
  18. Avoid the TMP and save for a male body that is Omega compatible so you don't have a problem finding skins. TMP doesn't have a lot of support since they haven't updated I over a year. Their Style Hud is hard to keep up with and, since it calls for the textures from a server outside of SL, if that server goes down or the store closes, the body is useless. If I recall, the free one doesn't allow demo skins and it doesn't have layers for applier clothing or tats. Signature Gianni, Slink and Belleza male bodies are Omega, a universal applier system, compatible as well as well-supported by mesh designers in SL. Keep an eye out since 7 Deadly Skins has free weekend joins on a regular basis. You get a free skin each month as well a the Midnight Mania boards. For heads, Ganni has one but I'd wait but go ahead and get the 150L to join the AK group. They have a female head for free for group members now and will have a male one when the female offer is done. The 3 bodies I listed are Bento skeleton rigged, which means the hands will move more naturally with animations. Remember that you don't have to have all animations for Bento. I do agree with looking at Tuty and Voir for an AO.Also check the eBento event, Uber, Collabor88, and the Mesh Body Addicts events for discounted things like skins, hair, animations, and clothes. Good luck and remember that demos are your best friend. Demo and use demo skins until you find what you like. You don't have to get everything at one time.
  19. Just an FYI, Tonic Fine and Curvy are growing in popularity. The fine is my body of choice.
  20. The older mesh heads use a different method for animation. It's actually "slides". If you could see the head totally rezzed out, you'd see the main head as well as heads with the expression on them that slide into view when you choose that animations. They are nested like an onion once you wear them. So, the older mesh uses switching to different heads. Think of the slide/pictures in the old nickelodeons or the way hand-drawn animation is done, one slide/cel at a time. At the time they were made you had 2 bones for the head. With the new Bento, you have now have 30 "bones" that the head parts can be rigged to that are attached to the various sliders on the head. Those points can be animated the same way your body is, allowing for a lot more versatility. In order for the old heads to function with the Bento animations, they would have to be completely rerigged to the new Bento skeleton, which would involve a great deal of work for the creator. Some, like AK, have chosen to rerig their heads. Most of the others have decided they'd rather make new heads rather than go back and redo what they've done in the past.
  21. One other thing to consider with hover. Be sure you are setting it on Linden ground, not standing on a prim/mesh/sculpt. Because of the collision boxes, if you stand on anything other than the Linden ground, ie the land with nothing else on it, your hover could be way off. I've had some shoes that when I set up perfectly on Linden land, I'll be a good meter off the floor in some builds. If I adjust it for that build, I'll be up to my calves on regular ground.
  22. FPS is dependent on you...ie your graphics card and connection. Though it sounds counterintuitive, check your speed. I keep mine at 800. Higher isn't necessarily faster. Think of a hose. You connect it to a spigot. Bigger will usually give a slower flow. If you use a smaller hose, you get a more forceful spray. Same thing applies to the data speed.
  23. You don't have to get a full hud to add animations. If you look on the post stands for trying the animations, there is the option to buy individual poses. Just add a few to your current AO. Also, watch for events like eBento and Mesh Body Addicts. Especially the eBento will have discounted AOs. Tuty, Voir, and Oracul all have AO for far less than 1K. You don't need Bento animations for everything, just for stands and a dance or 2. Abrinamations has inexpensive dances and AO animations available. Vista has lovely animations but people forget about some of the less expensive alternatives.

  25. Aditi doesn't always sync up. Do a support ticket. It's usually something SL has to fix from their end.
