  1. I'm sure I have come across boxes containing "anti-rez" scripts which force you to wear them. And I regularly get HUDs with transparent backs which are invisible if we happen to be facing the wrong direction when rezzing them. So my order of preference is: (1) Follow the supplier's instructions (2) Wear the item and wait for a script to give instructions; if there are none then unwear it (3) Rez the item; follow any instructions given, otherwise open the item and copy the contents to inventory Of course, following instructions does not include agreeing to any silly animations.
  2. The Builders' Brewery often run classes in scripting, for levels from beginner up. You can find them listed in the events list, or join the group to receive notifications.
  3. The processor sounds fine, but 4GB of memory is really small for a 64-bit machine. Boosting that to 8 or 16 GB would make SL more stable and faster. The graphics card is quite old; if you can find at least a GTX960 with lots of memory I'm sure it would make a big difference. If you upgrade the graphics card you will most likely draw more power, so check what power rating is recommended by the card's manufacturer and you may need to replace the PSU; a 500W unit would probably be enough.
  4. This is a great excuse to show off my new boat which cost me 4,000 a few weeks ago, the most I have ever spent, but well worth it for the fun it provides: In the background, to the right, is my other favourite boat, a Shields, which is also great fun, for zero cost!
  5. Well, we get fairly close to it on the 22nd of July.
  6. It's really standard practice to include several sizes, maybe 10 or more, in a clothes package, so I would not see that as an indicator of quality. And just because one item fits well doesn't mean that others will too; the item you got could be a recent release while others might be a lot older and not as well made. So no, I would not skip a demo if one is available, but if there is no demo then I might take a chance if the seller has a good reputation.
  7. No, the rigging is to the system avatar's bones; the hair knows nothing about any mesh body parts you might be wearing. Of course if you are wearing non-human-shaped mesh parts, you're on your own! LOL
  8. Hair is typically rigged to the head and the upper body, so it flexes with the body preventing any poke-through and therefore would never need to be repositioned. However some (usually short) hair packages also include an unrigged version which can be repositioned. It sounds like the hair you are trying is rigged to the head but not the body.
  9. Here she is, demo version: Skin: Omega Shoes: Slink fit Dress: standard M (though Maitreya seems to fit OK) Shape: custom Eyes: mesh (system eyes are too far back) Makeup: Altamura
  10. Valentina comes with a very good tintable nails applier with settings for each finger/toe, so we won't be stuck there.
  11. Yes, Omega skin applies to the whole body. Phew.
  12. It seems Omega clothing appliers only go as far as the wrists and ankles on Valentina. I tested it on the demo version and an Altamura rep confirmed it, and if you look on the Layers page of the HUD the Altamura applier icons show the feet and hands while the Omega icons don't. So if you want to wear stockings etc they will have to be Altamura appliers. It's a nice body though, especially the head.
  13. I have been testing the Valentina demo, which the Altamura group sent out. The body is very slim, and I couldn't get it to look good with a curvy shape. It takes Omega skin appliers, but Omega clothing appliers only go as far as the ankles and wrists, so you can only wear Altamura stockings/socks/gloves/nails with it. But the head is really nice and works with all the appliers I tested; I would be very tempted to alpha out everything below the neck and wear it with another mesh body.
  14. According to Mesh Body Addicts, it's at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Belleza/127/78/26
  15. Your only real option is Omega appliers, since I imagine that skins that are available for both Logo and Slink are rare to non-existent. Omega is the better option anyway IMO, since they will still be useful if you ever decide to change any of your body parts. Be sure to demo any skins first, as sometimes the alignment of Omega skins is not perfect on some heads.
  16. You can take the pieces all together - right-click and "edit" the first bit, then either shift-click each of the other bits or draw a rectangle around them all, then right-click and "take". This will take them into your inventory as one coalesced object, which you can then place all together in your new house and position them all together.
  17. Your head is one purchase; the Omega installer/relay is a separate purchase (unless it is already installed in the head). Omega is a compatibility system that allows you to apply any Omega skin/makeup/tattoo/etc to any Omega-compatible head/body. Some heads come with Omega built-in; for some you buy an installer to install Omega in the head; for others you buy an Omega Relay, a HUD which you attach when you want to apply an Omega skin/makeup; and others don't support Omega at all. An Omega installer or relay for a single brand of head/body typically costs 99 L$, or 50 L$ inworld for group members. In my profile picture here I'm wearing the Normie head from Utilizator, which has Omega built-in.
  18. The "system" makeup that we can use on our original heads can not be used on any mesh head/body, but you can certainly use Altamura and Omega makeups with everything you have now. Makeups (and skins, tattoos, etc.) for mesh heads/bodies are supplied in the form of "appliers", which is a little HUD that you click once to apply the makeup. You should find an Altamura applier for several skins and makeups in the Giselle package, and you can easily find Omega makeups in the usual shopping places. Omega makeup adverts almost always have a little purple Ω icon in the corner. Most Altamura heads support the Omega installer (so that you can apply Omega makeup without using a relay), but from my own tests it appears that the Giselle head does not (maybe the Giselle full-body does). So forget about the Omega Installer; you will need the Omega Relay instead. Now, applying makeup to the head. (Step 1) Make sure the Altamura Giselle HUD is attached to your screen. If it is Omega makeup, then you also need to add the Omega Relay for Altamura. (Step 2) Altamura's method of applying makeup is that first it saves the applier in one of the save slots in its HUD then applies it to the head, so you need to make sure you have at least one of the eight save slots free in the relevant panel of your HUD. For example, if you plan to apply lipstick, click the lips icon on the right and check that at least one of the column of eight save slots is empty (i.e. shows the Altamura logo) - you can safely delete any that are already there by clicking the X beside them. (Step 3) Add your makeup applier to the screen. In the case of an Omega applier, you might see three icons labelled D, H, and A (standing for Default, HUD-controlled, and All) - these allow you to select the region(s) to apply the makeup to, but in most cases it doesn't matter which you use; D is simplest. (Step 4) Click the applier. You should see it being added to a save slot in your Giselle HUD and applied to your head. (Step 5) Detach the applier, and the Omega relay if you were using it. (Step 6) You can now customise the makeup using your Giselle HUD, by adding colour to it using the drop-down "Color" panel at the bottom and the Blend slider, and by turning it on and off, and you can quickly change to a different previously-applied makeup by clicking the save slots. You can detach the HUD if you no longer need it on the screen. You can also use Omega appliers (for skins, tattoos, underwear etc.) on your Maitreya body, but you will need to have the Omega Relay (system kit) for Maitreya.
  19. Purchasing an avatar can mean lots of things, so could you tell us what you bought, and what clothes are you trying to wear with it?
  20. You can often wear your old mesh clothes with a mesh body, with a little work adjusting your shape. However, system clothes (painted-on things like underwear and, I guess, your bikini) can't be worn on a mesh body. The equivalent thing for a mesh body is an applier, and sometimes system clothes are often packaged together with appliers for mesh bodies, so you could look in your bikini package, and there might be either an Omega applier or a Belleza applier there too. If it's an Omega applier, then you will need to buy the Omega installer for Belleza, available at the marketplace or inworld (where it's cheaper if you join the group). Once you have Omega installed in your Belleza body, you can then use Omega appliers. To wear a skin on a mesh body and system head, you need to get a skin package that includes both a system skin and a suitable applier (Omega or both Belleza and Slink). For an Omega applier, you would have to have Omega installed in both your Belleza body and Slink limbs.
  21. /me watches my boat disappear into the distance after the SL server booted me out and made me relog. For hours now, I haven't been able to log back in to retrieve it.
  22. Maybe something like this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Virtue-Maggie-Dress-BW/11090466 ? Virtue specialises in modest clothes.
  23. Same here. And often some things just don't render at all no matter how long I wait; the only solution seems to be to TP out and back in. I was wondering was it my fault, some change I made in my graphics settings, but everything there seems normal.
