  1. Hi AS with everything else I know about LSL, I am self taught by looking at other's work and experimenting from there. In this way I've become 'average to good' with LSL, but every now and then I'm completely stuck, so I hope you guys and girls can help - even if I struggle to find the right way to describe the problem. Here goes. I was examining a mesh animal which when it's script runs, appears to move it's legs through about 8 positions, in a cycle. I have seen it done in the past using multiple meshs, each in turn being switched to visibility on or off, to create the effect, and I understand exactly how to do that. However, what new voodoo is this?! Now these mesh objects consict of only one mesh prim and worse, only 2 faces (0 and 1), and yet they have the shape and textures for 8 changes in leg position! So - how on earth would I address them to switch each on and off in turn, when the limit of apparent addressability is (assuming prim number / face number) is just 0,0 and 0,1? How do I switch any 7 of them off and one on, in turn, to create such animated illusions? Thank you for your insights! Frankie.

I'm working on a script but seem to be running into issues when it comes to having multiple requirements without having a specific order to which they are completed or confirmed as met to getting the script to work. For example, I am trying to design a breakable window, but I don't want anything under "x" amount of velocity to be allowed to damage the hit points. [ My knowledge with LSL Scripting is at a beginner level, so please bare with me! :) ] Recently, I purchased a texture changing script from Renderworks, I'm not having trouble with creating a HUD with texture changes. However, I was wondering if it was possible to add to the script an option to control the visibility of a particular face of a mesh and/or combine two faces for one on and off toggle.

  5. Greetings, I have a project in which a Particle is to be emitted showing a bounding box. Desire to have particles emitted from an attached object and give a "range" for the player to set forth upon. Can easily determine the start point as the players getPos but when I begin to emit the particles, they move with the player. Want them to not leave the origin of emission. Would like to know if this is possible. Thank you all the brilliant minds out there that have answered so many of my questions here on these forums ❤️
  6. Hi everyone, I'm a beginner scripter, looking for some advice. I've created a HUD that I am looking to attach to visiting Avatars to my sim, then to detach when they leave the sim. Im wondering how this could be made possible. Any advice welcome, I have experiences set up on my region already just need the attach and detach assist please.

  8. In general, I do not understand why the script does not work. The button (cross) has number 2.   9. If we upload a sound clip, use its uuid in a script and delete the sound from inventory. It will still work in script, right ?
  10. Hi everyone! Total noob here!!! I am trying to make a recipe board, which shows people different recipes (textures) depending on their choice in the menu. Now of cause there are more recipes released all the time, so I need to be able to add "unlimited" textures. That also means that I need to be able to change the main text (describing the buttons) on each page. The way my script is set up now, I run out of characters when adding new recipe names. The best way I learn is by having comments added to changes made in the script. At this point I am still figuring out how things work together and learning operators. What do I have wrong here, I'm trying to do an auto light that people trigger going to the lift and once they leave it turns back off, I using volume detect but while that kinda worked, I have no idea how to make it turn back off lol. I know well the Linden Scripting Language (LSL) and many others (especially web languages like PHP, HTML5, ASP.NET with MVC, JavaScript, NodeJS, Angular). If you need, i can also create projects in: C, C++, C#, Delphi, Perl, Python... I have many customers in SL (since approx 3 years) for custom full permissions LSL scripts mainly.   14. Hi, Is there a need to use SQL Server database functionality in LSL Scripting? I know some poor solutions already exists, but you need to have your own hosting environment. So I'm talking about some kind of cloud provided SQL Server service that LSL developers can use without having any personal infrastructure. Paid service, of course. SQL server hosting doesn't come for free, so it should be something that cost few L$, very affordable, but paid. Developers will receive libraries to use in LSL scripts to access databases. Web UI will be provided for SQL Administrations. Please, opinions, advise, feedback? Thanks!
  15. I'm trying to make a script for a rodeo game, so random movement (rotation wise) on a random timer to stop animation and make the avatar stand, i just dont know where to start on this one as never done a timer let alone a random timer before >.<
  16. First, I will say: This really is not a rant, not at all. I'm being responsible & making a gesture for responsible community interaction & development. I am making & releasing a Composits HUD on the Marketplace, with the OcculTek Store. The scripts will be modifiable. The object will be no transfer. The intention of making the scripts modifiable is so that other developers can use the Composits HUD in their own creations. Note about GPL: A bunch of American attorneys & judges get tripped up & "believe they merely act dumb" about GPL. It's really obvious that's not a legal license, not at all. It doesn't matter whom touches my work before or after me, I have a right to earn a financial reward for my work. We're talking about programming languages & science, & accomplishing a task. It's like folk songs at best: GCD, GCD Chord progressions, & nearly all folk musicians have their own song with a GCD progression. It's like Gravity in truth: You can't tell me that you own Gravity, not at all, & you surely can't tell me that I don't own my own fair share of it!! I will release the scripts for the Composits HUD, along with other comments specific to the Composits HUD itself within this posted column of appended & separate post upon releasing the Composits HUD in my Store. It'll be priced moderately. It's quite a lot of effort to write out details about people acting with common integrity & respect. Really, it's simple: Don't give my stuff away for free, not at all. You can modify it & use it in your own creations, though it's mine & I have a right to earn a financial reward for my work. So do you. Treat me with respect. That's the point.
  17. I am trying to make an object usable by anybody, but only one person at a time. I've seen sales boards that will go to a busy more while one person makes a purchase. How do I set up this busy mode?
  18. Hi, i have a question and hopefully it is easy to fix. I does have a HUD and if i clikc on it, it will scan the people witin 10m. A Dialog menu will popup and shows me all the people. If i click on a name i would like to send the person a message in local chat and some particles to that person. Till now everything went well except the particles. I am not able to get the ID of the avatar i selected from the list, i hope i just making a stupid "beginning" mistake. Can somebody please give me tips how i can solve this.   19. Somewhere along the line, I lost track of what I was doing. My goal is a simple two-way radio. but I'm lost in the Region Say where I want it to send a message containing "user" which is defined by llGetObjectName followed by the message from channel 4.   21. Hi. Want to make a place were people can create and enjoy a peaceful surrounding. I would lean such a concept towards a programming friendly place. Some ideas to what i like the place to have is lsl resources, link to script groups, small sub parcels to control sound and environment setting for a pleasant time, small place to expose they're creations to visitors, sub parcel for ground edit permissions to test lsl code. Why i posted this is in hope that someone would like to setup an adjacent parcel towards inventive atmosphere, not necessary for programming. The parcels will not be joined together but managed by respective owner. My limitations are at the moment maximum 1024m2 that is the premium free land, so the place would need to be on the main land and have an expiration time at the end of April.

  24. Hi so I've never posted here before but I've made a few scripts in the past (though not for about 2 years, so I'm a bit out of practice!) Anyway, I've been trying to update an old HUD of mine which can scan a region as one of its functions, and return a list of names plus how far away the avi is - eg: Emilee Edenflower [96m] What I want to do now is add the group name of the detect avi to that output. I've pieced together a script (from various other topics on this forum, so it probably needs tidying up later!) which can get the group name from someone clicking on an item, which is all good and well if I just want to print out info into chat. But what I can't seem to figure out is how to get the variables made in http_response back into other output. Here's my script so far (for just detecting group names). You'll see at the end, http_response makes a variable called groupname which is output via llSay and llSetText. But I want to be able to use this variable elsewhere in the script.   25. Question for the experts: What is a reasonable amount of total script time for each type of region? Like an amount beyond which you'd start to see noticeable region performance degradation (sim lag) if we assumed each region on a processor is the same region type with the same total script time?
