    Some accounts get compromised when they get a PM for a special item on Marketplace and it's really a phishing link to collect the login info. Sometimes someone impersonating a Linden staff will PM asking to "verify" the account through a special site --- once again a phishing site. All Linden Lab staff people have "Linden" as the last name and Linden Lab Employee in the payment info box. There are some staff that use "Mole" if they're building content in world such as Linden Homes. Also Linden staff that are in world will NOT ask for personnel/account information. That is handled through the official Helpdesk only. The other thread mainly dealt on what method should be used for 2FA.

    Hopefully FB won't attempt to buy Linden Lab/SL. They have been known to buy out others or competitors.

    Linden Lab may have thought of them --- but if they did set up a server and put a couple of Linden staff in the server I think they would get boatloads of PMS "Can you fix that, do this..." like what happens in world sometimes. Some MMOs that have Discord their GMs get bombarded a lot.

    I do Twitter sometimes but avoid FB like the plague. The store did post on FB on how they're stopping "thieves" and mentioned what happened. They have since took the posts down. As for Twitter the lawyer is advising not using social media as things can get twisted around very easy, much worse then how some threads on this mboard derail.

    Update: The store that where the facial recognition got me wrong is still not backing down and was told by our lawyer that their provider of the FR (a major company who's boxes has that smile thing on them) is also backing them up. There is more to that, but those will come up in court since it's not public information. It's going to be interesting battling the big boys.

    We have gotten a lawyer already and waiting for the video from the bystanders so we can give this some meat. Not taking this laying down. Since we're an interracial couple we been through and seen a lot over the decades.

    Caution, this might be a TL;DR to some.... Super big pet peeve that recently happened to me with the re-openings --- stores using facial recognition as part of their security. We went to a market and moments later a store manager type and a security dude approached me saying I was not permitted in the store due for shoplifting. I said WTH and he said the stores FR cam matched me with someone else who stole from the store, but I told him I'm not that person. I was told the FR is 100% accurate but I said it's not as many get mistaken, especially people of colour like me. He said I needed to get off the property immediately or he would need to call the police if I didn't leave. I said please do. He said he could have 2 of his strongest employees physically remove us but I said if he did his business is looking for a lawsuit. He proceeded to call the police and when they got there and we explained what was going on, the cop told the manager my civil rights were being violated and the province does not allow use for FR. The manager got more mad but just went back into the building in disgust. Couple of the bystanders that filmed it will send me the video, which might be use for a possible legal case.

    I remember something like that long ago. Minimized the client to do something and got a similar message. In my case somehow it logged me out. I did disable the Away mode in the client.

    I think the poster didn't catch that. Or Linden Lab might use "Newbie" as a last name! Resident probably should've been listed separately. Although I think maybe offer 5 or so basic last names for new people to sign up with.

    Kinda reminds me of my early days in SL when when visiting clubs. A freshly onboarded avi appear near us ladies dancing and instantly installed a highly engineered device to himself and bugged us in PMs for "special fun." I was in the old AOL AIM chat with the Linden person who told me about SL. He asked for the character's name and asked me to PM the pervert "Goodbye!" Next moment he was gone! The others said "He's gone, thank goodness!" and I just said "he probably crashed." I also learned something new that day as my friend told me how to do ARs and pointed to info on the website.

    And we get a club owner or two that let politics go to their head. They might say not political chat in the club --- but play a certain performer or group or 3 during a DJ set and get a PM from the owner asking not to play them since they didn't support a certain politician. There are some clubs that also go downhill when there's too many manager types around.

    One of my cousins who got vaccinated a couple months ago got the Delta and he's a healthy person too. The virus is not going down easy.....

    One is when a mboard owner puts annoying fireworks/snow/or whatever on the screen and even after many complain the owner pretty much ignores the concerns.

    I remember my man working in his family's restaurant and used the commercial version of that which was a large floor standing model. When his family put him to work there, one of the first jobs was making powdered mash potatoes in that. He didn't realize the speeds and ended up plastering part of the kitchen!
