  1. We got to reopen our bar --- finally. Although on a limited basis. For the first time since Covid my man finally DJed to non-empty bar and even in world at a club he plays now and then.
  2. This year we didn't decorate our RL bar for Canada Day due to that controversy. Couple of staff told history of residential schools and how their grand parents were not treated right. We still have a flag on one of the walls, but that has been hanging there since before dinosaurs came to earth.
  3. I thought it was about the letter O getting stuck in world!
  4. Sometimes SL will mess with the settings. I has happened --- especially if the client crashed and burn and takes me off world.
  5. Seeing those makes me even feel older! Swear Linden Lab needs to come up with Geezer Life!!
  6. Toys: The Lego set me and my man saved up for. We actually would add more parts to them until we had a bucket full of Legos. Believe it or not we still have that and my Doc suggested I dig them out to work my hands out since I have MS. My man would join me and we would remember the old times. Other night we tried making the famous SL logo out of Legos. But my guy got clumsy and dropped it to the floor. TV: We grew up with the likes of Lost in Space, Gomer Pyle, Gilligan's Island and others. Also remember old game shoes like Hollywood Squares, Three on a Match, Match Game, Price is Right, Gambit, Joker's Wild, Concentration, Magnificent Marble Machine and many others from the era. Didn't get color TV until the mid 70s. I remember my man getting a B&W TV in the early 70s and it still works! It's used for an old Pong game. Music: Something that is dear to us. We grew up to that and our music tastes are the same. We collected records and stuff together and still have many of those from our youth. To this day out love of music is strong and it is evident in our bar where we have a server with almost a million songs on it, thanks to use buying inventory of a couple now closed record shops and my daughter loving to rip them to the computer. CB: Before we got our amateur radio licenses, we would talk on the CB radio! Breaker 19, what's the smokey situation on the Grapevine?
  7. I remember in the old amateur radio club group I was in someone there took one of those and put guts in it from a real phone. Was a hoot!!
  8. Never did Freakbook, never will. But have heard other talk about all the drama on it. My man who DJs was fired from a club for a comment he made. He was simulcasting from our bar (mainly playing tunes for the staff while preparing take-away meals) and made a comment about a former US president. The owner is very protective of him and sent him out the door.
  9. Bad doctors or ones that don't hear you. Went to a new one and the idiot would not listen to my concerns and was a total patronizing a**hat. Ended up mid appointment leaving say we'll look for someone else and left.
  10. One question is why so many call SL's parent Linden Labs instead of Linden Lab? I see that all the time. The Linden employee who told me about SL back in 1857 emphasised there was no "s" on the name --- but many still get that wrong decades later!
  11. I remember my man getting banned from a club for having only a system avatar. Even ARed him too as told by the club owner. Sadly the owner's friend invited him to check it out to be a DJ. As for AR --- probably gave a Lab staff person who reads those a good laugh!
  12. experimental Good question. I do think some people have natural immunity to it. I've been exposed more then once and nada. Quarantined and never felt ill. My man same thing except for a light cold type thing. When we went to get our jabs --- he got his but for me I was told since I was taking an experimental MS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) drug they wanted me to do some anti-body tests and told they were strong enough to repel the Covid. They will do tests on a regular basis and if they think I need a boost --- jab time!
  13. Someone was telling me in Teamspeak that the never ending mall was ultra laggy and she was on a high end machine. Always thought that Caspervends were laggy especially if you have a zillions of them. I've seen a shop switch to Casper and the area got more laggy --- like when a mall or club has a Lindo camper thing.
  14. My man was good for that. At our bar we have a DJ booth and it's near the hall to the washrooms. One night we had a guest DJ (who was a frontman of a band) and my man walked by --- tooted on the mic --- and went to the can. The who place busted up and I was chasing him with the largest cast iron frying pan I could find in the kitchen!
  15. Thank you. NOW I feel old! Done that --- although it was with my childhood sweetheart who I'm still married too!
  16. When we had our night club, it had the appropriate licenses for it and the restaurant. We even had licenses for the attached liquor store although it was technically exempt since it was less then 1000 square feet. We ended up closing it since the property value started shooting way up and the place needed some work. We ended up selling it to a developer. This was in the San Francisco area. We moved to my man's home town in Sask to retire, but got bored and bought a small bar.
  17. At our RL bar we belong to a service that we get our music from, the CD or Music Pool. And those are restricted to working DJS or clubs/bars with proof. Also near the front door is a sticker in the window saying we're licenced by SOCAN. In the US when we used to live there and had a night club, there were signs at the door and on the DJ booth saying ASCAP and BMI.
  18. A friend bid on a parcel in a SL auction and got outbid. She went to see it and the winner was putting a house and stuff up. She thought nothing until the winner put the plot up for actually a reasonable price and some land baron bought it, jacked up the price many times over and then plopped breedables on it lagging the region. She and a neighbour did lodge a ticket and the breedables got nuked or something.
  19. In our bar we have a licences to cover both live bands and recorded music. The bar licence also covers any DJs we hire too. We also have a licence for the internet stuff too. Does cost a small fortune but some we can write off. I hate that with a passion. Or when the host/ess gestures like crazy about tipping the host or whatever. Some long time clubs are guilty at that with their hosts (and dancers if they have any) all using the same begging gesture like "░░▒▓█████ Please Help Keep BLAH-BLAH Running By Donating To The Thermometer. █████▓▒░░" When I had my SL club, we had DJs for a special event and half the songs was like "The Lindens - Our Life In SL (HD Complete-with lyrics) which was easy to spot Youtube rips.
  20. Don't get me started on the Jessie's Girl song. Soooooo overplayed in SL and RL radio!
  21. I have an issue that limits my speaking too and made it known in local chat if I filled in for my man for some reason. Also my man let the songs tell their story and didn't talk over them. He did 2 shifts in a different club and when the owner asked why he wasn't greeting the people coming in and promoting the stores --- he said many want to hear the music tell their stories and not blab non-stop. He was let go immediately and banned from the club's parcel. He was told not to play certain songs and the owner got mad when he played someone's request of the Ylvis's "The Fox" song. When someone PMed him the hostess couldn't change the stream, he played the "Take this Job and Shove It" song! About a month earlier another club let him go since they required the song titles to be turned off and he refused as the streaming licence requires the titles to through to get counted.
