  1. So glad those things getting 86ed. They are as bad as loot boxes in MMOs. There were some that didn't give out anything after paying and only said "Sorry, no goodies this time, please try again" or as someone told me --- one played an sound gesture of something like You pay your money, you take your chances.
  2. I rather chuck the Zucc into a large pool of water that has sharks with laser beams attached to them! 🤣
  3. Moose Jaw is the place! Middle of nowhere but we have the front man of the classic Guess Who living in our town!
  4. Just had a evil thought. Another thread there was discussion of "voids" in SL --- Maybe Linden Lab could sell those voids to anyone for a good chunk of change and use the revenue to pay AWS to activate them into a navigational waterway. I should ask the person who told me about SL eons ago since he was on the tech side of things.
  5. Direct link to the help desk if needed: https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ Also I read of some scripts that might fake a payment text on the chat.
  6. Influencers. No use for them and some expect things for free for promoting on social. I had one or 2 come into my bar and said "for some free drinks I can promote your place on social. I told the person to take a hike and everyone pays for drinks. On her way out I heard her tell her friend "stupid boomers."
  7. Only "voids" I'd like filling in is around the mainlands. Some coasts have such a narrow area to navigate your tub or boat around without risk of hitting ban lines or orbs that instantly send you home or offline.
  8. Cell phone carriers are know for the insurance scams. You pay so much per month and if the phone implodes --- got a chance you might get something inferior to the device you had.
  9. One that was told to me by a relative still living in California. He tried to get a new gaming rig and was told they can't ship to him due to new energy rules. For example Dell's Alienware Aurora R12 can't be sent to California or sold there. You can do a search on DuckDuckGo (or your favourite search engine) for California Gaming Computer Ban. At the moment it only affects a few rigs --- but it's ridiculous.
  10. Sometimes your internet between the servers and your computer could have issues or net congestion.
  11. Probably failed. Anything Zuck gets his hands on he want to monetize the bleep out of it. FB can't go poof fast enough.
  12. There's a move in Netflix called The Social Dilemma that should checked out. It talks about the sneaky ways FB uses to keep people on it's platform. I really hope the governments or something can get those big tech under control.
  13. My man plays a MMO and about 2 years ago they changed the accounts so the log in username is not the same as the toon's name in world. Not sure how much it would be for the Lab to implement something like that. They also introduced 2FA for those who wished to opt in, but it relied only on a QR code, nothing else. But for some time they use a 4 digit security code to make purchases in world and the code restricted certain number combos like 1111 or 0000.
  14. It needs to be an opt-in basis. Those who want it --- can have it. Those who don't want it just leave them alone and let them log into SL like they have been doing since it existed. Talking to someone who services the systems at my bar 90% of the "hacks" are people falling for phishing links.
  15. Same here. And an option to just use a 4 or 5 digit security code you put in when buying in world.
  16. Not all MMO's require it. Some require inputting a "Security Code" for doing financial transaction, even inside the game.
  17. A live performer in world that uses a recording during his/her "performance." Before I gave up running a live music club I had a suspicion one was doing that and also a couple PMs from those who thought the same. I recorded 2 of his shows and compared the audio and was exactly the same. Since I did this at the end of my reign of the club, I never confronted the performer on that, but I did tell the new owner about that and was up to her if she wanted to 86 him or not.
  18. One note --- I noticed a game my man was playing uses a "Security Code" which is a 4 digit number that is separate from the log-ins. When he buys gold in world on that game, it will ask to input the code before proceeding. That could probably be incorporated on the SL client. Some assume everyone has a smart phone. There's like 43 of us on the planet that don't have one and chose not to have one. Last year I had to change banks due to 2FA since I don't use a cell. I closed my account and moved on.
  19. The client probably could show a box when buying in world, like for your password.
  20. Sadly it will not stop scams as some people fall for the phishing schemes.
