    I see that several people have noticed that the conversation has been drifting well away from the OP's original comments, which had nothing to do with BDSM or some of the other issues that have come up in the last few pages. Let's see if it's possible to return to the topic.

    Hi, team. In the interest of keeping within the spirit of this impressively long thread, I have just hidden a handful of posts that were starting to get testy. Remember this guideline, which has not changed: No Flaming: "Flames" are hostile or disruptive posts, or messages intended to incite an angry response. Spirited discussion and constructive disagreement are welcome, but name-calling and airing of grievances are not appropriate in our discussion areas. Please try to to maintain an atmosphere of courtesy and respect for others at all times, and do your best to avoid posts that are designed to annoy other people.

    It is healthy to remember both the good times and the uncomfortable times. This is how a community builds on the past. Please remember, though, that our current guidelines about naming and shaming ought to apply to former forum members as well. I think we would expect the same as future forum members in 2030 remember us.

    This is an interesting conversation, but it is not within the guidelines for posting in General Discussion. As a reminder, the Participation Guidelines for this forum say Not Allowed:In addition to adhering to the Community Standards, please refrain from posting content discussing inflammatory content (Politics, Social Justice issues and Interpersonal disputes), anything that doesn’t relate directly to Second Life/Linden Lab, Generic posts (like “Post a random animal picture!” versus an acceptable “Post your Second Life pets!”), etc. These are just guidelines, so please use your best judgment when posting if it is not explicitly stated here!

    Your best guides to what you can put into a report are the Forum Participation Guidelines and the Posting and Participation Guidelines that appear at the top of each subforum. If you believe that someone has violated something in one of the guidelines, you may decide to submit a report that says so, and you may mention relevant information to support your suspicion. A report is a private message, so you are not violating any rules about public disclosure. Please do not take my comment as an invitation to turn on each other by reporting every suspected infraction. Please note also that "frivolous or malicious use of the abuse report feature" is frowned on. This is not a police state where citizens are rewarded for snitching on each other, and the moderators really don't want to be in the business of "catching" people. We're in this together, trying to make the forums a place for good, civil conversation and discussion.

    As we all adjust to the new guidelines, we can expect some uncertainty on the part of both forum participants and moderators. This is new territory that we are exploring together. At the moment, this thread is beginning to drift in directions that may soon be over the line, if we are not there already. Rather than lock it and stop a long and productive discussion, I would prefer to simply remind everyone of the topic it started with: I'd like to know how you use ARs. Do you have a "philosophy" that guides how you wield this tool (if at all)? A "standard operating procedure"? Do you have views on how others should, or shouldn't use it? One important note: please do not use this thread to question or criticize forum moderation. Apart from being against forum rules, this is also not terribly constructive, as we have no say over this. But I think we can learn from each other, which is the real point of this thread. Please do what you can to stay within the spirit of the original post.

    Once again, please stay on the topic of the thread, which the proposition stated by the OP: "I am aware that Linden Lab is an American company and that a rather large part of the user base is American. However, users of Second Life come from all over the world and the world is a very diverse place. This is what i often do not see reflected in discussions about real life topics on this forum."

    This has been a robust discussion and it has been civil, for the most part. However, it is having trouble staying on the OP's topic, which @Quartz Mole paraphrased earlier as "the propriety, or otherwise, of selling, in SL, outfits associated with US paramilitary groups". Please do not wander off into arguments about the RL activities of extremist groups or into making political statements. If the thread wanders off topic one more time, we will close it.

    Thank you, Prok, and thank you on @Ancient Mole's behalf too. I have been pleased and only mildly surprised by how well those elevators have worked out. I have been testing them frequently during SLB to see how they are holding up during busy times. As far as I can see, they have negligible impact on the region's performance. I suspect -- but can't prove -- that the elevators add less load on the servers than teleporting the same number of avatars between the upper and lower levels. They were fun to script.
