  1. It was released as 3 new heads (for 4k each) and started to become popular right away, though. Many (most?) big/popular skin creators didn't release a single SLUV skin since the original EvoX's release. And at first Lelutka weren't sure if previous Evo heads would updated with all EvoX features, especially with the "hd skins". You can dig that information from various sources like flickr, discord, facebook etc. But given such great feedback they've decided to update previous heads completely. So, yes, free updates of such scale are always great, especially for customer's loyality and brand's name, which will eventually bring in profit as well. But if the product is great it's not really required. In fact if the product is half decent and also has a proper promotion behind it, then even previous awful reputation like the ex-TMP team has/had won't stop it from becoming popular (I do mean Legacy bodies, of course).
  2. If it's true, and if the new body won't be compatible with the older clothes, then for a while (and for some people for a really long while) it will make things rather complicated. I've got used to swapping bodies for a needed outfit a long while ago when I've got legacy, but still wanted to wear maitreya for some RP/fantasy outfits. And recently after getting a reborn I still swap to a few legacy based outfits for the same reason. But I know some people just dread the thought of maintaining multiple bodies with different shapes, skins, keeping more than one clothing size and so on. So if it's entirely new body and not just a new UV and some tweaks here and there, then given lack of clothing for the new body at the start and for quite sometime it'll be the game of swapping for many many people.
  3. Given how those new bodies/heads look like, general idea and presentation of them by LL (and Patch) they are very likely thinking it's just a body/head most new (actual new) users will swap for "something better" the moment those people will decide to buy some L$. In a way it reminds me of some F2P mmos, especially mobile ones. Give a new user something not truly awful (like the current starting bodies). Gear/characters etc. Just enough so they'd stick around for a bit, then gently (or not so gently in case of those predatory mobile gacha games) nudge them towards the shop with "way better stuff". And since LL doesn't sell any actual content in SL's case this nudge will be towards the currently popular bodies and heads, which not only do look better, but also will have pretty much unlimited choice of clothing/accessories available to them compared to a very limited and curated pool of releases approved by LL for the Senra. Thus making a new user a part of the ecosystem/SL's economy, or shopping part of it anyway. In a similar way I'm sure those tiny LL homes are also were meant as a starting step giving new land owners a bit of taste in decoration and having a land in general. Except many people are actually totally fine with something as small, so they never got anything else.
  4. I meant the new UV the X update if it's actually a thing in the update. Lelutka, for example of new UVs, are much more "relaxed" about their devkits compared to Maitreya, and even they did share the EvoX permissions with only a few other brands, all of which are pretty tiny and a non factor on the current mesh heads market compared to the top 3. To be fair I'm not sure if other (bigger) ones have asked, though. So given the "history" of how it is/was difficult to get Maitreya's devkit compared to most other bodies I said about them/you not sharing that UV with other body creators, since it's pretty much direct competition. Looks about the same to me, especially if consider the fact it's a perfect angle to showcase the body/skin. You can pose (current) Maitreya in a way it'll look fine as well, but static pictures from the good angle is one thing, real-time and all kinds of animations is another.
  5. Sadly there's no way to update the shoulders without breaking existing content. Even if they'd include some kind of deformers, which anyone can get already, it's still only a partial fix. So it's either a new body with a generous free upgrade for current Maitreya users, or vanity updates that won't really change much. Perhaps a new UV given the X in its name? That would be nice, especially if they'd share it with others like Lelutka did. Although knowing maitreya if it happens they won't share a thing.
  6. In most games with online elements it's a posibility for a long while now. Most people have it off and it's one of the endless complaints of those who have it on if you check related games' forums and/or communities (like on reddit and such). In games that actually show if someone has it on/off I've played, like some kind of UI symbol, from my personal experience I also see it being turned off in almost all cases when it comes to random games with random people. Friends lobbies/parties/teams are another story, of course. Doesn't mean there are no random people using it, some do, just like in SL. So Coffee's message you've quoted is correct.
  7. Pretty sure it's the privacy>logs&transcripts>add date stamp to transcript filenames. It should separate IM logs by month and local chat logs by day. That's on Firestorm, no idea about other viewers. That said if it takes 5 minutes to open a 80mb text file, then you might consider moving them to SSD if you can. If it's already on an SSD, then check its "health". My local chatlog is almost 100mb in size and it opens within ~1 second.
  8. That would be me. My flickr, discord and this forum accounts are detached from my main account. I'm not a very social person, so for me it's just easier to separate the two. So I use my furniture/animations/builds/perms testing account to post in here from time to time when I'm working at PC and don't really have time for SL itself.
  9. With so many bodies/sizes around the unpacked folder is a nightmare for new users, and not just a new ones. One of my recent purchases had over 240 items in its demo folder for the top alone, another 100+ for the bottom. LL really shouldn't implement any of such rules, because it's really up to creators how they want to sell and present their products. But if they are going to suggest/nudge creators, I think the unpacker HUD that allows a user to select the desired body size(s) in case if it's clothing and just unpacker HUDs if it's not clothing are the best. Easier to keep the backups that way, too.
  10. Detach everything aside of the body and head/eyes/teeth, then right click yourself appearance>reset>skel&anims. It's almost surely the part of other avatars you had/have on that has a deformer included, like that AX Fox or something similar.
  11. Based on the pictures in this thread it's better than current classic avatars, but those people who were (some still are?) expecting it to change the "mesh body/head market" and "upset quite a few current mesh body/creators" are going to be upset themselves. As a stepping stone for learning about mesh avatars/heads/bodies it'll be fine, but for anything else... yeah, as expected they are nowhere as good as even quite old bodies/heads. But hey, still better than having those angular sticks that are supposed to be fingers/toes that new avatars have now.
  12. There're no animations in evox heads that move fingers, not even a posestand (3rd buttom from below in its HUD) does that, so it's not the head itself, but probably a side effect. Redelivery for the test purposes won't hurt, but it's most likely won't help. If you're using a body without built-in idle hands animations and not using a bento AO, then something like this might happen. Belleza bodies are like that for example, both old and new Gen X ones. Although in this case everyone, but you see you with sprayed fingers all the time anyway. Which body you're using? Another cause can be gestures, they often do all kind of wonky stuff like that. It's always worth to deactivate them all and see if it helps. And if you're comfortable with using a discord, then join Lelutka there and ask in the help-lobby, their CSRs are pretty good at helping with things like that. 13. Deetalez had something similar for EvoX and the body skins. https://www.flickr.com/photos/deetalez/51391545433/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/deetalez/52440863726/ And Izzie's. https://www.flickr.com/photos/izziebutton/51407168157/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/izziebutton/26243214213/
  14. It does (from the dashboard that is). Feel free to test with an alt. It has been the case since I started SL in 2012. Probably way longer than that. But to clarify, I didn't mean the general online status one can hide from the preferences, but the online status visibility from the friends list where location and objects edit rights are. Edit
  15. If you don't see certain friends on the dashboard at all, i.e. they are missing completely and not just shown as offline, then they have unchecked their online status for you. It's not a bug, but a "feature". If they are there, but shown as offline, then it's related to the still ongoing issue.
  16. Kupra demonstrated that being released at the right moment "works". As it happened when community was starving for a thick body when Freya was abandoned already and HG just didn't made the cut for that look. And the alternatives were super low quality with no support. The moment a better alternative did show up with Reborn it was already over for Kupra, even if it took/takes a while to die completely. In a way it's viable as is it's usable, but it'll only add to the desire to swap to "something better" when actual newbies are going to discover the better options. If anything I feel like NUX will do better for those serial altoholics who keep making new avatars, especially ones who do it on a budget not wanting (or not being able to) to spend a lot on those extra accounts. Even with a bit of clothing it should be not worse than meshbody's classic or those two maitreya sized ones (lucy and something else), and without extra steps to get it.
  17. Getting a dev kit is not as complicated as you think it is. Unless it's Maitreya's and Signature's ones, which is why both are being dropped a lot by many creators as well. So not seeing it changing in any significant way. And as yet another example when numbers do not reflect sales. Check Salt&Pepper flickr where she announced dropping Legacy in favor of Gen X Classic. The former has 23k entries on the Lucia's stats list, while GenX had like 300 then (now 400 with some change), and yet she had more sales for Gen X (she sells by the body size, so it's easy to check that way). To put it in a blunt way, people who shop a lot want to look pretty in what they buy, and those NUX bodies are not going to be as pretty as existing ones (if previews are anything to go by, they are on the same level as bodies from 2014, so Maitreya and original Slink bodies). And that's why no one (almost) makes anything for the Genus heads anymore either, despite their freebie head being on the very top of the most used mesh heads lists, too.
  18. I know a few small/medium creators who dropped maitreya last years despite it being the biggest female body out there. It's what Sammy and Arielle already said pretty much. Their sales dropped only by 10-15% after excluding what is most used body on the grid at the start, and later even increased as they started to release more stuff, because rigging didn't take as long anymore. It and the fact who you see around most popular clothing shopping events on the opening days (hint: it's Reborn and Legacy users in 85% cases) points on a simple thing: not all people shop the same/as much. It'll be even more so for the freebie/default body. Basically having it does not mean shopping for it. It is a free body. The fact it's provided by LL doesn't change anything. Some creators could still provide those "standard sized" XS to L mesh clothing if they wanted to, because there's a number of people who still use default avatars. But most of who do don't really shop for any clothes compared to people who are into shopping. Same for any free body out there. They grab it to not look horrible, pick some freebie outfit and call it done. Those who want more swap to the full'regular mesh bodies later. I don't see NUX changing that, aside of making it easier for new users by not having to find any free options, but having it right away.
  19. No one makes anything good for any current freebie bodies, despite the fact they are pretty widely used and getting a dev kit for some of them is super easy (meshbody's classic is given to anyone pretty much for example, legacy's kits are after one classic's release). One could argue it's because it takes time for a new user to find a new body to replace current classic avatar with, but it will also take time and effort to find stores who might make clothing for those new default avatars, too. That said, I do expect stores who already rig for anything and everything, most of which are present only on the MP ( partially retextured FP gargabe and partially just those who somehow find time and energy to rig even for the long abandoned bodies) will rig for the NUX as well. I mean if someone still rigs for the Slink's Cinnamon and Chai (as a prime example of a failed body with pretty no users even at its peak), and there are some who do, then there's no way they are not going to throw one extra size in. But those nice smaller/niche stores who already dropped all they could, often Maitreya despite it still being on the very top of the most worn/used female mesh bodies, won't. Most of them create either for Reborn only or Reborn+Legacy now.
  20. Considering LL themselves said last year how they are not going to try and compete with existing "retail" mesh bodies/heads, it was quite expected. Those who thought it would be something else/more were far too optimistic for no reason whatsoever. A better starting experience for new users without those sticks that only remotely remind fingers. Hopefully even with some simple bento AO. Something to have and use right away without being lucky with finding someone to direct them to some full body+head freebie combinations (altamura had one I think?). And then, if they'd want something better, they already will have a slightly better understanding that mesh bodies/heads are attachments, the idea behind the fitmesh clothes, bento(?) and so on.
  21. You should stop caring about the complexity as it has been played to death for so many years. Anything rigged can and mostly is as complex as creator wanted it to be shown while not reflecting anything else. I keep using it as a perfect example, but here is an old non bento head by the creator who used to be in the market's lead back then. Pretty sure they even still sell it for over 1k after the recent "price cut". Almost 4m triangles, that's most likely as much as your entire avatar times 4-5, depending on what you're wearing, 43MB VRAM, too. It's impossibly heavy mesh and if you're unlucky to encounter it in the already slow/laggy place, it'll probably show the last, yet it's only 9.2k complexity for the current system. Totally honest and fair. /s And then I have some unrigged bracelets that are maybe not the most new and well made, but nothing bad about them either. And simply because they don't cheat the system they have 35k complexity for the fraction (40k for two) of triangles/vertices and 9mb VRAM. LL were developing new calculation system for the complexity, but last news about it are from a couple of years ago, so it's probably put on hold or abandoned. But yes, it's mostly unrigged stuff that has higher complexity numbers with the current, flexi as already mentioned, too. If you're using Firestorm you can get much better idea how "heavy" nearby avatars are by clicking the world tab on top, then improve graphics speed>avatars nearby. Edit to add own pet peeve: People who keep up with the double/triple/quadruple/etc posting for no reason whatsoever. Sometimes it makes sense if the posts are long and each reply is to a different person and/or has nothing to do with another post. But in most cases it's those who just reply with a "funny picture" or 2-3 words who just keep doing it non stop, then instead of actually reading a forum topic it often turns to scrolling through those kind of posts page after page.
  22. They are the smallest/least curvy when nothing is highlighted there at all, clicking anything there only makes them more curved up and slightly longer. You've been around SL for a while, so you really shouldn't be surprised by that. Often most simple things are the most difficult to find. Took me forever to find some classic pumps for Legacy a few years ago for example. Ones that would be well made (texture and mesh itself), and without any gems, ruffles, bows, weird looking heels and so on. The most basic and simple shoes design ever, right? But nope, it was a whole quest to find a few through hundreds of weird and exaggerated ones. Plus basic demand and supply apply as always. Most female avatars I see that are not using either of built-in eyelashes are going for even bigger/longer eyelashes. You can try to demo guy lashes by Avi Glam, they are probably too short, but perhaps that's where lash length options would be some use.
  23. Works fine for me. 1.69.5 had an issue with nipples and nails autoalpha, so perhaps it did break your copy of waifus. Worth to go grab a redelivery/unpack a fresh copy and not use it with 1.69.5 before checking on the 1.69.6.
  24. Some of those newer names also show exactly same thing (avatar age, account must be older than X years to have it), especially first retired ones like Cloud. Just because they are newer, and it'll be soon 3 years after the first batch of them were replaced with the other ones, they are not any "worse" than those old last names. But if we take a personal approach, then I also don't care if a bunch of those last names from 18 years ago gets recycled either, because I don't have/use it. Not to mention they were free, unlike the new ones. --- On the less personal approach I don't think any of them should be recycled. I agree with Alwin here, LL should add more of the normal names instead of the joke/weird ones. Now some "special ones" like Waifu and Daddy were overly popular, there're hordes of Waifus around now at every single shopping event I check, at the every weekend sale, too. But lots and lots of LL were adding to the list over last 3+ years are just plain terrible and totally not popular. That can be easily checked if use legacy search for avatars, enter needed last name and click through pages with matching first names until last name matching the search will start showing. Some have less than 30 users despite being on the list for a long while, some even less. Popular and already retired ones have between 500 and 1000 entries.
  25. I would consider it, even if there's close to no premium benefits for me aside of the extra group slots and faster events access (I can wait just fine for 2-3 days, so it's a very small benefit). Perhaps I'd even get some "free" mainland parcel to decorate as a cute public cafe or something similar. But on top of a hefty price tag upfront they just had to add a FOMO element. That's a big nope for me. While I could see myself relaxing in SL after a long working week and thinking something like "Why not? I spend a lot of time and money here anyway for over a decade already, might as well have this." The typical FOMO with "Limited quantity for the virtual goods." did kill my possible interest completely. It works on many people, sadly, as the whole gaming/entertainment industry shows, but for me it does completely the opposite. While there might some "natural" situations when one might need to rush, on SL's example it would be last names and getting a wanted combination of first and last name before someone else took it, such enforced "limited accounts" and similar things are terrible.
