  1. Artists come and go, too, and obviously not just in SL. Some retire, some switch genres completely so they are essentially "gone" for those who don't enjoy new style/direction of their work, some pass away. It's okay to be sad when it happens, but it's also not something uncommon in either life.
  2. Big events are more than just hype and long lines over one product, like in your iPhone example. In a way they have some form of a symbiosis. They are popular because a number of high-profile creators join, a few mid-tier ones as well. People check galleries and booths at the event and see it all together. Put singular listings on such shopping HUD and you get what... a slow and likely badly designed version of MP? Well, it already exists, the badly designed MP by LL, that many creators don't even bother with.
  3. Pretty much what I was going to post myself. And given how it affected store's popularity it wasn't just us and a few more people who felt the same way. Back into 2015-2019 a new full priced release of theirs meant the store was impossible to get in for a few days, even worse with free credits or sales. Last 3 years or so it was just a shadow of its former self. And the last couple of years, especially 2023, saw an obvious change of strategy there, that wasn't oriented to provide good experience to their customers, but to maximize the profits. They went as far as retiring all previous TSS packs/releases last Xmas. It wasn't some ancient stuff, most of those were updated (with modern mesh bodies sizes) popular releases in the "value packs", like light/dark denim packs with 10-15 textures and other options for jeans. But the deal was "too good" apparently, so yep, those got retired. Also while it's always creator's free will, but for years she has been generous with store credits for store's bday, Xmas, some shop and hop events, last year and a half had none. Not that she or any other creator had/has to, nor do I really need those free credits from any store, but also points on the change in mindset regarding the store/business.
  4. Plenty of reasons. Not being happy with their choice they've made years or sometimes decades ago. Scripted objects that tend to "announce" the username instead of the display name. Just vanity stuff, because it's not really any different from buying new outfits/avatar pieces. Having display names disabled because many of those "sane people" tend to have gibberish unicode in their display names. 50$ is too much for it (it's 15$ for premium plus users, which is a lot better), but as one-time purchase it's fine really, at least for the actively used avatars. In L$ it would be 12k or so. Depending on how much one shop it's really not too bad for something that is a part of your avatar at all times vs a few fatpacks of clothes that you'd likely to wear a couple of times and forget they exist. That said if it was 10-15$ as is, I would probably swap name on this account as well, even if it's permanently parked in my region and used only for the testing/building purposes.
  5. I have yet to meet anyone who would like those media based shopping/event HUDs. And from what I remember majority of weekly/weekend events that were HUD based all pretty much failed/died. Ones that are still around have their HUDs as an option. So it's not a new thing at all, it's just Seraphim's owners beating the dead horse while trying to squeeze into SL's shopping scene again (outlet was their first attempt, and it was dead from day 1). I wouldn't bother in either case, but thanks to their site promotions and ads spam it seems like most merchants that they managed to get to join that HUD shopping experience are the same(ish) ones they have at their outlets store. And aside of a couple there it's just not where I shop at all. So they can keep their deals, gifts and promos.
  6. Around 3.8k extra li for me or ~13% increase. It's pretty nice, but yeah, I'm going to wait and see for when PBR is in actually usable state to see how much of that free li I want to use on reflection probes and extra lights, if any.
  7. Known issue from last week's RC server update, and now this server version got rolled out for the main channel. https://feedback.secondlife.com/server-bugs/p/hovering-on-log-in
  8. Another year, another terrible idea. That one might actually be worse than the another currency one from a while ago, since it's not just useless, but would likely cause chaos for both creators and customers alike. I'm glad LL are not taking some of those "great ideas" seriously, from forums and various in-world meetings.
  9. The answer is this: #14 : Maitreya - Lara X : 7194 : 1.3% #44 : Maitreya - Lara X Petite Body : 890 : 0.1% #298 : Maitreya - Lara X Flat Body : 41 : <0.1% Same "picture" with daily stats by bonnies. If anyone makes any for this mod/body right now they probably do only because they use/like it themselves, from commercial perspective it's a giant waste of time.
  10. Khara is more like Lara if anything, and just odd looking. Probably as visually unappealing body as Slink's, especially original female one. Obviously a subjective opinion, but given how it didn't do well I'd say it's what most people thought about it. And market really didn't need/want another not pretty take on Lara, so it didn't reach even 200 users detected so far I believe, bonnies didn't detect even a single user of it in last 24h, too. And that's with their non stop giveaways. It's actually a miracle it got any clothes at all with such numbers. It's nothing like a Reborn. Bottom half is literally a legacy/perky, with zero changes, and chest is also nothing close to either original Reborn's or waifus. It's very implant-like, which I dislike a lot.
  11. The less you listen to what random people have to say about it the better. There always will be someone who will have something like this to say about your avarar. Thick/thin, face traits, hairstyle, hair color etc. There are still those giant 2.5m tall classic avatars around, and compared to them anyone is a child. I suggest you utilize the block/mute button on such "suggestions" instead of wasting your time on them. Nothing new either. Places owners also can (and sometimes will) kick you for any reasons they can think of. But it's not a reason to say how people "treat petite bodies as a disease".
  12. You don't, at least most (all?) of them. You use one and forget it exists. I've used a few for some "shady" sites where I didn't want to use my normal payment methods. They are issued with a certain balance on them, which can vary from a very small amount like 5$ to quite large numbers, but no way to add more to them. Just think about them as a giftcards, just not limited to any particular store. --- As for the topic: of course it's not. There's many countries in the world, and not all of them have weird rules/laws like US does regarding this.
  13. I do keep up with that, and I did read/listen to the parts of that last TPV meeting I was curious about. She knows the current complexity formula is useless (and given her remarks in chat it was obvious) there's no way she'd want any limits until it's all redone, and then it would be a whole different story than trying to force it now. The rest of that part of the discussion? Lots of yelling, especially by a certain person in chat, and a lot of "wishful thinking". And yeah, given how it's one of the main sources of income for LL, the whole avatars ecosystems, there's no way they'd shoot themselves in the foot and enforce new limits on the old types of content. "Yesterday you could buy and wear 38 things, and today it's 20, or less." Pretty obvious how much less people would spend on their avatars customization. And that's mainstream stuff, fantasy community would just die as they need a lot more room already. So it can only work with new types of content, e.g. animesh. It was released like this already, 1 only (2 for premiums), and a heavy li "tax" if it's rezzables. I'd argue all that made it far less popular than it would be otherwise, though, especially rezzable ones as some bigger/heavier ones are too much for tiny plots where they'd take half of li. But even then, it's a new content, with its own set of rules, and not quite breaking 21 (soon) years worth of stuff because "complexity purists" can't be bothered to use provided tools to avoid seeing those that don't fit their idea of a "good avatar".
  14. With the gamed complexity formula that is going on for as long as mesh exists? Yeah, it's definitely will be an unpopular idea. It's funny to see some people (like above) still think that ARC matters one bit. There are 4.5m triangle attachments with 3.5k "complexity". Here was Beq (lead developer of Firestorm) had to say about it not too long ago.
  15. Price aside I personally don't like the look of it at all. If I were shopping for a new body now (new account or whatever) I would not buy this one even for 2.5k. I like Reborn these days, but even if it was "too much" for me I'd pick regular Legacy over this one.
  16. Linking is not a panacea, sadly, just a workaround. If it's for the picture purposes, then sure, can link some pieces together, because after the idea and setup are finalized there unlikely any big changed needed anymore. But for everyday usage the negative side of linking is a bit much. For example some fantasy stuff. Any little texture based change that is not simple manual tint will require redoing whole linking process from zero, because HUDs won't work properly anymore. Want to change gems textures, metals, feathers etc? Right, instead of doing it right when and where you want it, you'd have to go back home or any other place with rez tights, putting unlinked copies on, doing changes, rezzing it on the ground, linking, picking back and finally wearing outfit with said changes. Not a very viable solution in my book. And with an ability to link rigged mod pieces together the only possible negative side of having more attachment points is gone for ages. Because anyone already can link a 50m triangles piece together taking just one point, and this piece will likely be more than people would normally wear on the current 38 point. Or 138 points. So having more would really be just more for the convenience purposes, rather than "wearing more triangles".
  17. I'm also happy with Reborn ever since I've swapped to it. Actually not sure what body I'd have to see to actually switch to it. It's certainly not this "new" Legacy waifus edition, nor the LaraX for me as I just don't find it visually appealing. Perhaps a new body by Maitreya or Ebody whenever they would want to make one, actually new body and not the rework/update of existing ones. But because their existing bodies are so popular I can see why they wouldn't really bother to make anything new. And there's no competition around at all, because Belleza being Belleza, and TMP being TMP. P. S. Friend wanted to go grab a demo to check it herself, their mainstore's region now enabled key experience which has to be accepted to even enter, and likely thanks to that it's nearly empty now. TMP REALLY being TMP. At least demo is available around other places like Stealthic's, but yeah, they never learn, do they...
  18. There's gallery on their site with much more, but not too much new stuff from what I've seen. Most are updates. And I've only noticed two exclusives on the list, although I did scroll through quite fast. And the issue that is present on their 1.6 bodies with finger/toenails is also a thing on this one (well, duh, it's the same body really). Only way to restore the nails after hiding hands/feet via HUD is via chat commands. It's a "known issue" since June. They had time to mesh up a new "addon", but absolutely ignored this.
  19. Demo-ed it now. It does look very "off" in my opinion. I've used the shape I had for Legacy and it's just "wrong" proportions. To balance out heavy top I had to add quite a bit on the bottom, and it pretty much became slightly odd looking Reborn+waifus at that point. Yep, it's Legacy Perky all over again, because why make a good system with seamless body mods and materials sync like Reborn did it (or even Maitreya with their initial petite/flat chests), when you can sell what is essentially a body mod priced as a whole body.
  20. Yes, it is possible with any animations and any mod AOs, which Vistas are. Take out the desire animation, rezz other AO where it will go, drop needed animation(s) into AO's content, then edit notecards (should be obvious which ones, in Vista's case ao.default for walks/stands etc, dance.default for dances) and add animation to the correct category.
  21. I'll demo later, because why not, but I really don't think this body will get too popular. I still remember PR campaign with original Legacy release, when bloggers and creators "been talking about it" for weeks prior to release, all the previews and saying what an ultimate body it is. This one was kind of just released, missed skin fair, too. With zero previews and (totally unbiased, of course /s ) reviews. Lelutka and Stealthic collaboration is a good way to get the word going, though, but I'm not sure it's enough. And while I'll demo it when I'll have time for it, I already know that I'm very unlikely to buy it and not even because "Legacy bad" or "but muh complexity" kind of stuff, I was pretty happy with Legacy from 2020 to 2023. But simply because it's only a half of a new body if waist and below fits original Legacy clothing. I also use deformers on Reborn and pretty happy with the result, so why would I really go back to "almost Legacy, but with built-in waifus-like addon"? Similar(ish) deal as with LaraX, although that one I just don't find visually appealing the slighest as it's really just rehashed Lara with long overdue fixes to the most problematic areas (at the cost of nearly entire wardrobe it had). Give me a new body, made from the scratch, that is good looking (subjective, of course), and looks like worth trying/wearing to see if it'll get enough support so it could become my "main body". Well, unless it's Belleza, in this case they can keep their new bodies too. Those reworks/rehashes/half of new bodies really don't appeal to me at all.
  22. A little heads up for those who use/have omega appliers for eyes. 4.0 has omega removed completely as omega's creator/owner is not around for years and whole thing is abandoned, so apparently Lelutka couldn't fix some of bugs with it. That's according to CSR on Discord. Workaround for those with 3.1 heads is to use a style hud. Eyes presets can be saved there, then restored on 4.0 heads/eyes. I suppose people who will only have 4.0 head won't have this option if they'll want to grab some of those older eyes appliers that don't come with Lelutka's option. But everything from early 2020 has Evo/Evox (2021 and later, but they work exactly the same) option, and many older releases got updated too, so it probably won't be a too big issue for the new users.
  23. Nothing for me after checking it all. Not a budget issue in my case, I'd love to throw some money at creators, but there's really nothing I want. Not liking the Billie head on myself at all and given the rig it doesn't shape into anything I like, especially the chin area. Snow Rabbit head actually looks pretty good, and that comes from someone who has been using Lelutka heads from pre-bento days. But it's just not the look I want/need for myself either. Genus morph stuff looks terrible in my opinion. Plus it's Genus, with their so called "4k" rubbish, so a hard pass.
  24. Orwar already has mentioned part about envirnonmental shine on the mesh heads, but I'd also add to it other examples. Terrible shape, and there's a lot of people who sport them, makes those expensive heads look hideous. I don't mean terrible in a sense of aesthetics, but actually broken so eyes poke through the eyelids and teeth show through the lips, such kind of things. Should creators abandon bento and go back to static heads from 2015 now so people can't ruin their work by shapes? Same for the clothing, if you want to use it as an example. No matter how good rigging is the extreme slider values (either minimum or maximum) will break it and make it look awful. No exceptions. There will be everything, from clipping to angular edges and stretched (in case of maxed out sliders) textures. I don't think anyone would look at those and think it's a creator's fault. Now I do agree that copybotting is not something that anyone should do, and as much as I love to mod things there are some items that I don't care about modding wise, like jeans. If I like the fit and texture then it's really all I need from them, so I do buy no-mod things too. That said leaving item mod allows for a lot more fun to be had. And some creators like TURB are totally fine with people ripping off their original textures as long as they don't sell those originals, and even tell to those people who do to show them their take on it. Some others provide the UVs, for the same reason, and I don't mean the FP garbage that has to come with with those, but original mesh creators. I tend to support those creators quite a lot by buying their creations at the full price.
  25. Not arguing about your decision to run viewer at any desired settings, but there will always be "those people". Someone on a potato with possible lowest settings will see your place and your entire avatar in the worst possible way. Always, no exceptions. I don't remember when it was removed, but when one could uncheck basic shaders in preferences it would break others' mesh avatars for this person completely. Can't say it ever should have been a reason to not use mesh, though. It's no one's loss really. Unless it's a commercial kind of place which does try to get people visit, spend their time and there and (hopefully) spend some of their money, then it's most likely made at the expense and for fun of the place's owner. Even if it's kept public some random visitors not coming back (for absolutely any reason, not just LODs related) can hardly be considered a loss. I strongly believe that like with avatars the regions/parcels should be built exactly how their owners want it for themselves. And if other random people don't like it... who really cares?
