  1. Not sure about the official viewer, but on Firestorm you need to enable media from sound & media>sounds tab tab, and then media autoplay from sounds & media>media (at the very top). Don't forget to turn them off after you're done unless you need those for something else. But aside of changing between default nail polish presets you can do everything via chat commands now. And yes, full body alpha is not needed when body is in BoM mode.
  2. That section does, but as of 1.5 (and higher) update it's not needed either as they have chat commands now. Look for the notecard inside the body's folder named [NEW] Local Chat Commands. For the BoM it'll be (type in local chat): /1meshbody bom on
  3. Place matters a lot too. If it's a random spot, then random comments on your or anyone else's appearance are uncalled for. But if you did wander into some RP (roleplay) heavy places then such comments are somewhat expected. People there usually care about two things, and it's their RP experience and visuals. If you're happy with your look you may leave such places, but to answer your question - yes, a well put together mesh avatar is much more desirable in various settings. It's not limited to mesh/not mesh only, though. Before mesh bodies it was about quality skin, well made proportional shape, good AO, good hair and clothes/shoes etc. In many ways it's still is to this day on top of the mesh itself. So there always will be some standards people have for anything. You may agree with them or not, but it's their standards so it's really up to them what/how/why they interact with others. Just remember that people use SL for the very different reasons. Not all want to make friends online, not all want to get to know you behind your avatar either. And it is perfectly fine too. Explore and find places and people that suit your interests and needs, and ignore the rude people as you would elsewhere on the internet as they exist everywhere, not just in SL. P. S. Being an "avatar snob" is one thing. I am one of them myself, and I don't feel sorry for that one bit. I really don't. I like pretty visuals in my SL. But there are polite ways to limit your interactions with people without being rude, it's what most of them tend to forget and why the "avatar snobs" get bad reputation. I personally just tell people I don't want to interact with (and it's not always because of their look either) that I'm not interested. 99.9% of them stop at that. Now the reasons why I told them this are really no one else's business, but being polite costs nothing so there's no reasons not to be polite.
  4. Are you sure you took off absolutely everything? Including the AO (or stopping the FS AO if that's what you use)? Animations can do that. Vista had a full AO like that, and there are many breathing calm/idle animations from various creators that also do all kinds of deforming, from the bottom to breasts.
  5. Get their creator kit script at the mainstore for 1L$ (it'll be refunded anyway), inside there's an object named Autohide (with some extra text, but you'll find it easily). Alpha parts you want to be hidden via HUD, right click>touch this object from the inventory (keep the empty one as a backup), click save alpha on the pop-up. If clothing is mod, you can drag autohide script from inside the box to inventory and drop it into clothing, then alpha parts you want, click the clothing instead of the box and save the alpha the same way.
  6. Jake might suffer from the lack of new content whenever Belleza releases male gen X body, though. Assuming they did learn from the catastrophic release of female gen X bodies and will offer some kind of an upgrade path for the Jake users, then the new releases for Jake will stop shortly after. There's also another factor when it comes to actually buying a body (freebies don't count, can't be too picky about those given the lack of options) - if it's actually appealing to the potential buyer. For example I do not like Jake at all. All Belleza bodies have a "bubble butt" that I'm not very fond of, but it's especially weird looking on the male body in my opinion. Gianni has a weird torso/arms, too. So I personally like Legacy male bodies, except the price. Not sure if they'll have a Spring Fair this year, but last two they did along with 50% sale which makes it close enough to the forever discounted Jake. The difference is there. As much as 1024x1024 allows at least. It also makes working on the makeup/tattoos for the face much easier because default SLUV is plain terrible. Some makeup creators I know are still happy to this day about this fact. Separate layer for the ears makes it possible to have all nice content for them too; tattoos and some fantasy stuff that is not blurry like it is on the default UV. And all EvoX heads come with an option to swap to the default UV, so can't say that conspiracy theory holds up very well.
  7. Classic body by Legacy creators. It's revamped old TMP body with alpha cuts, bom and everything else. Obviously there's nearly zero new content for it, but with the use of alphas/alpha cuts it should fit some free clothes at least. It won't fit female heads, which Genus gift head is, though. And not sure a choker will be enough to mask it as the difference between female and male neck fits is quite large.
  8. It's really up to personal preferences of the place's owner who to allow or not. Maybe they like mermaids and dislike elves, or it can be the other way around in another place. That's it, there's no need for any other reason other than "place's owner does not want avatars looking like this or that at their place". And again, they don't even owe you (me, or anyone else) a reason why they don't want someone around. Even if there would be some rules in place regarding those things, hypothetically speaking of course, then people would just keep the reason to themselves and not even reply to your question why they did it.
  9. You've answered your own question. Their place - their rules. Also they are not obligated to even explain you a reason why either, so unless someone would be dumb enough to actually announce banning people of certain skin colors, there wouldn't be any outcries. Place's owner can eject/ban you even if they don't like your name, or the hair color, and you have zero rights about it. Just move on and find places you enjoy and that are more fitting for your avatar of choice. And as much as I enjoy fantasy looks myself, in some places, for example some history or even just modern days/urban RP regions they are out of place. Most users of said fantasy avatars realize that and don't move past landing area where they can read the rules and adjust avatar if they want to join, but some still jump in using their not fitting (for the place's theme) look. No. See the MP reviews. "I didn't read the product's description, I didn't try the demo, and I don't know how to use SL. Awful product - 1*" and then some creators trying to explain those things to them in replies that most likely remain unread forever.. Not to mention some language barriers. Plus a whole field for leaving fake reviews on a place that someone might dislike for some reason.
  10. There's that, but preferences aside I mostly meant creators that hit top tier events every other month and have built a decent follower base over the years. You can easily tell the effect by the same big events, some rounds that are missing the big names are usually empty on the 2nd-3rd day, and when there's a few of said relevant/big creators events remain busy for quite a while longer, because people flock in to buy their new releases. Mostly those redundant (as well as dying ones, like Kupra now) bodies all suffer the same fate - lack of original mesh creators support when it comes to new releases, and a whole lot of retextures of FP on the MP, which is almost always the bottom tier quality wise even if much cheaper than anything original. Then again some people are happy with those too despite mediocre quality since it's "good value" and often comes with all colors, it's their choice.
  11. Redundant and doa. That's about all I can think of it. Might have some "hype" here on the forums, like about CZ Slim body which currently has 40 entries detected on the mesh bodies/heads stats list, but not seeing any top tier/relevant creators picking it up.
  12. 3 years. BoM (5.0) update was around early 2020, and a few following bug fixes/updates in a few months after that. But yeah, still been a while. Then again like with most other bodies and heads, if there are no obvious issues to fix or something new to add (like Bento and BoM for the previous major updates), then not really much body/head creators can really do. For example Lelutka heads are all on 3.1 version since Summer of 2021, although recent glitter addition for all heads didn't change the version number. Can't say I know what they could have add since that aside of similar bells and whistles like glitter, which is not exactly the head itself anyway and just a little addon. Either way "being up to date" is not always the most important part when it comes to those things. Overall quality is. And I really doubt those Nux avatars will be anywhere near top few bodies/heads now. Nor should they be according to LL themselves, since they are still meant to just give a better start for the new users and not replace current mesh bodies/heads. But even if they'll be 1/3 as good it's still going to be much better compared to the current ancient starter avatars. They were pretty sad to look at even whe I joined and another 10 years along with additions of the mesh bodies, heads, bento etc sure didn't made them any more appealing.
  13. Some viewers have an option to export shapes as .xml. Then you can import the same xml into any new shape which would be mod and fix the big hands/feet there. I wouldn't even call this as "stealing" as it's just the very basic feature, but yeah, that's a good reason to not sell demo for your shapes. Difficult to say how many people do this, though. Because those who make their own shapes don't need others' work, and those who are not capable of creating own pretty look would still need a stylecard like Stephanie mentioned above, so the shape alone is rather worthless. But if you're concerned about it - replace demos with more pictures of those shapes. Perhaps create a flickr account and upload big/high resolution pictures of said shapes there too for those who'd like to see more details.
  14. Lots may come down to personal preferences and styles. I don't really track those things, but I know I buy more on the HW too, mostly because it's just a bigger/longer list compared to the TSS. Some stores I like don't join TSS, but join HW and FLF, but like you said there's still some decent content to grab sometimes. But yeah, preferences. Post above yours mentioned Wanderlust Weekend. Now while I do enjoy fantasy stuff and RP which it's aimed at, it's one Friday - Weekend event that I consider bottom tier. I usually get one thing there per month from one of the stores I like (they join exactly once a month too), and that's it. The rest is too poor quallity even for those prices in my opinion. Also all events are a hit or a miss sometimes. I don't really like special patterns for clothing that are most commonly present at FLF, so if it's "that kind of a week" I sometimes get nothing at all, and sometimes there's 2-3 things to grab despite list being much shorter than weekend sales. Newer/more niche events like Kinky69, Goat 66 and (the most) new Tokyo Weekend are pretty much the same, although general focus of the event usualy helps a lot to either check it more carefully or just scroll through. And my personal least shopped weekend event without some niche would be 99 Sale I think. Lots of stuff, but 9/10 is rather generic, lots of retextured FP meshes that I don't buy even if it's 99 for the "fatpack".
  15. It's the scale and the level of automation that matters, though. Like bots in MMORPGs. You can farm gold yourself just fine, it's meant to be acquired by normal people and put into the game's economy. But when it's done by hundreds or thousands of script controlled accounts that are on 24/7/365 it becomes a problem, crashes the markets and causes inflation (yes, in games too). Same with the data. You may waste your time and collect enough of data on a few places you might be interested in. Maybe for a few days, maybe for a few weeks, depending how curious you are and/or how much free time you have on your hands. But it's the drop in the ocean compared to what a few dozens of bots can do in the same time frame. Buying a little parcel in hundreds of regions is also not a viable alternative. It costs money, and not like all regions have them for sale to begin with, nor do they offer random people to rent some ad boards. But most of them are still open to just about anyone, so bots will do it all, much faster and for free. P. S. I don't really care about bots myself, except in my own region which is access list only since the day I've got it, and not because of the bots. I just don't need random people there.
  16. Lelutka had their last 4 heads 25% off for a limited time. Mainstore's release for 48h for Ubon and Tae, and then skin fair for the even't duration for the Wade and Vivian. They also do random sales for some of their heads for a while now too. Milan was 50% at some event last year, and I think some male head was discounted at the men focused event as well, but I'm not 100% sure on that one. But yeah, we'll see. My personal opinion that with current line of heads Catwa is exactly just a big name from the past. Kinda like Slink was, which made name back into their mesh hands/feet times, but was phased out by better products when it became a mesh body market. If Lelutka decides to keep up their game and makes temporary 50% discount on their new heads it's a win-win for everyone, though.
  17. Price is not everything, though. Opinions, preferences and all, but for my tastes it's roughly 1975L$ more than I'd pay for it. So I don't see it being a war, more like trying to reanimate a corpse via any means, at least temporarily.
  18. It's because of your typo in a search. "Maitraya dress" gives me exactly the same results as you've posted, the proper "maitreya dress" matches DulceDiva's example. And yep, it's still a total mess.
  19. If it's the total stats, and it probably is, but Lucia knows better and might correct me later, than it should be easy to explain. For example there's ~15.5k of entries for Catwa Catya in total, but how many of those entries (read as: avatars) active anymore? Once avatar gets checked it stays on that list forever, and it only updates whenever Lucia's bots encounters it again, so if that avatar is not active anymore the number stays, but it doesn't contribute to the market anymore. And back into 2017 there was a massive clone attack of Catyas and Daniels indeed, so they still sit up there on the list from the older days. I would guess the number of active Catwa/Genus wearers is nowhere near 20% and 11.6%, at least the trending tab on Lucia's list doesn't indicate any growth of any of those heads except free Genus one, but a rather slow decline.
  20. Main culprit for that would the V by Sensations and furniture that triggers related animations. It shows up on Lelutka's Discord at least a few times a day. If you wear one, detach it, reset avatar's skeleton and animation via right clicking yourself and choosing that (might need to click on "more" to find it) and don't wear it unless you actually need to. If it's something less obvious, then you might need to remove everything, but the head/body and then start adding things one by one until you'll find what causes it. Lelutka's animations/moods are among most subtle ones, at least most of them are, so if they are "awful", then you really might check what causes it. Another idea is that you bought Vista's AO with built-in face animations and dropped those into Firestorm's AO, it should be easy to check by finding that AO in your inventory.
  21. Been a while since I saw anything for 50L there, so not sure why they even bother creating an illusion of price range when it was always 75L anyway. Now with 75-100 range it's rather obvious it'll be 100. I usually buy between 0 and 3-5 things on weekend sales in total, sometimes more if it's a neutral week and less if it's all those holiday focused ones, so can't say I care about extra few L$. But if it'll the case when it's some 4 parts outfit that I might wear one time and it gets a pass for 240-300, for 400 it already might not as it's the price of top quality original mesh clothing pieces (in one color) from creators that never do weekend sales. I wonder if that's why there was some new event last weekend, Tokyo 75 or something like that. Some of creators did the Saturday Sale before, not sure if it just aligned like that or they had a heads up and decided to bail ahead of time.
  22. Azure is pretty close to any regular last name. If someone is unfamiliar with whole ACS or just new to SL, they'd never guess it's some "special name" as there's nothing clear about it being a corporate name. So would someone want to invent some corporate name I'm pretty sure LL would't mind too much. Although aside of that I don't think I did bump onto anyone using this feature in all my time in SL. But yeah, with that pricing I don't really see anyone else, but some big SL focused business would want one anyway. P. S. Not sure what is so confusing in the above, but "Azure" is a custom last name used by the Azure Islands part of the ACS, or rather those who operate it. And despite what LL rules say it's not easily distinguished from any other regular last name.
  23. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Custom_Name_Program You won't like the price as it's not quite 100$ and not a one-time fee either.
