  1. The floral tats are part of a project a friend of mine is working on (some clothing experiment) and we were looking if it would even match with my tattooed skin. It came up with quite a nice result actually, but the project isn't finished yet, so no complete pic could be made yet.
  2. Johnny made this pic today (April 18) while I was unaware...
  3. Thank you all for responding. For me it was also interesting to see how people view this issue, even though I do not always per se agree with everyone's idea on it (and some times I do, even though I might not always like the facts myself from my own point of view). Thanks especially to Maitimo, who made the most down to earth comment when comparing it to RL situations with regards to fancy restaurants who ban people in jeans or shorts.
  4. Maybe I should rephrase the bit about fantasy segregation in certain sims. Of course I understand that when certain RP is wanted, they would like a specific look to a sim. I was really aiming at those sims, that do not have that specific aim, but advertise themselves as sims that are lovely to e.g. sail in or enjoy nature - without any other meaning. I am surprised that one would allow a mermaid in (also a fantasy creature), but not a dark elf. In those cases, both are humanoid, but still fiction figures. That was really my question in this case. I am not so unaware to not understand the difference and I am aware, that humans are not always allowed in certain other sims. I was just referring to sims that in a way do not mention the whole RP/reality regulations, but do differentiate between certain fantasy creatures.
  5. I think it is fun to play with the darker side of creatures in Second Life, whether human, elf or otherwise, and make them look nearly believable and/or realistic. So mostly I go around in SL as a dark, horned elf and occasionally as a light blue horned elf, a mermaid or a vixen. The only thing that sometimes makes me sad, is that you aren't always allowed in certain sims when you are not human. For example, I would love to go sailing on the seas in [some] sims such as [redacted], but alas, I am not allowed there, because I do not fit to their rules (although mermaids are okay?). That said, it doesn't make me change my avatar to access those places anymore. My loss or perhaps theirs, depending how you look at it? After all, I am who I am. I realise that every sim owner has the right to decide how to run their own sim, but it does seem odd that you can have fantasy segregation in certain sims where certain creatures next to humans are allowed, but not others (especially when they are made to look as realistic as possible)?
  6. I love Garbage too and you did a great job on matching Shirley Manson from this video. Nice!
  7. Sailing today... (especially for Cirleen, since she asked )
  8. Katherine: when the mermaid is in a "standing pose", you can indeed see the full tail, so it is indeed as looking at a dolphin's tail. Funny is, that in past times some sailors thought that the manatees, dugongs or Steller's sea cows (aquatic mammals which became extinct by the 1760s due to over-hunting) were mermaids. They happened to have human-like eyes, bulbous faces and paddle-like tails and not fish tails. Another fact is, that sharks are fish, but do not have scales, i.e. not every fish does have to have scales. I think the mermaid is quite a nice mixture of both.
  9. This issue with the tail bones overlapping those of the animations is exactly the problem as explained by the creator of the Cove tail. I doubt, however, that the animation creators will take the time to make several dance animations for all the different tails that are out there. That might just be too much work. It is a shame though, that they didn't think of the most sold tails to fit with the dance animations. Alas, we'll probably have to live with that.
  10. Both my husband and I noticed, that when we try the dance animations in mermaid places, our tails go in a bend mode as if we were sitting down on a chair. We both have different tails (he has a Nemissa and I have a Cove tail), but we hit the same problem every time when clicking on a dance pose ball. According to the Cove tail developer, the problem lies in the way how the tail/back bones are used, but after so many years you would expect this issue to be resolved, especially with such popular tails? Has anyone else found a solution for this yet? Looking forward to your replies.
