  1. Actually...No programming needed. Just a minor setting change. We all have opinions on how things should be by default.
  2. I for one would take it a step further and like to see the over the shoulder view be the default view instead of an option. It is a better all around view of things and encourages more realistic scale in buildings.
  3. Hi there. Feel free to give me a shout sometime. I am always looking for new friends to chat and hangout with.
  4. Feel free to give me a shout in second life. Love having New people to chat with.
  5. A little late to the conversation but wanted to add....it is unfortunate that people feel the need to behave this way. It seems you have taken a bit of a shine to SL with the shopping and learning about how it works as that is fantastic. Don't let others keep you from it. There is so much to see and do I suggest finding some like minded friends explore and hang out with. Lots of good info here already. I really just wanted to be another voice to encourage you to stay. ?
  6. I also don't have Alts but have dozens of Kemono mods, many skins in different tones, many shapes (from adult to adolescent). So I guess I have a lot, but I don't role play so much so they are so really just me.
  7. Feel free to look me up. I am online quite often. Love pictures, shopping, exploring.
  8. I can say without any hesitation that Firestorm is definitly not the best SL viewer, not by a long shot, in my opinion. In my opinion Catznip is the best viewer, followed by the current release LL viewer. It is all about opinion though. A few things to keep in mind when it comes to viewer selection: Viewer choice comes down to personal preference and nothing more. Each has its own special features and functions that sets it apart from the others. You should try them out and see what works best for you and not simply go with what someone tells you. Most viewers are simpy derivatives of the LL viewer. Many of the "features" in third party viewers are actually available to everyone, but are simply exposed in an easier to access setting than you might find in the default viewer. Some viewers do seem to perform better of individual machines, so it can be in your interest to try a variety. As to performance. The amount of RAM you have and your CPU make almost as much difference in perfomance as the GPU you have. HD graphics are very problematic for SL. Your RAM is good as I think 8 is really the bare minumum for good performace these days.
  9. You should also try downloading the latest viewer directly from Linden Lab and see if your inventory loads there. If it does not you can contact LL support to have them verfy that you do not have any broader corruption in your inventory. You have to try on the Linden viewer first though not on a third party viewer.
  10. Mesh bodies excel at one thing. Looking good naked. As soon as you start adding clothing and shoes and everything else on top the benefits start to drop away. One other recent benefit is that many of the "top designers" in Second Life no longer make even standard sized mesh, prefering to only support the top 3 mesh bodies. At the end of the day though it is really down to what you like and how you want to look. Want to buy the latest and greatest stuff from the big events? You need a mesh body. Want to get online to chat and hang out, not so much. It is all a question of preference. As to the question of cost. For women, I think that starting from scratch you should be able to get into a high end mesh body, with a mesh head and a top of the line skin for around 8000 L$ including some outfits to get started. It is a lot for sure, but not as expensive as I have heard some people say.
  11. The short answer is that two people cannot watch the same stream in Second Life. Each media stream is separate. Two people watch the same thing but both would need to start it Manually.
  12. So lets look at this by the numbers and see what landlords MUST charge to break even under normal circumstances. For purposes of running the numbers we will assume that a) the region is a full region, b) that the region is not grandfathered or bought down (ie. still costs 295.00 USD per month), c) that the land owner rents 100% of the available prims and d) that the landowner is paid in L$ and converts at a rate of 261 L$ per USD. This nets US$ 295.80 from 80000 L$. So this means that before the prim increase land owner needed to charge at least 1.33 L$ per week per prim to break even. (80000/15000)/4. After the prim increase they need to charge 1 L$ per week per prim to break even. (80000/20000)/4. The prim allotment increase very significantly decreases the weekly cost per prim to break even. If a land owner had their price point at 1.50 per prim per week before (a fairly common price point) and they now increase your cost per week to match your new prim allotment without reducing the price per prim they very much just adding additional money. It has already been pointed out that LL did not actually reduce the price of region tier. They did give, for a limited time, the option to pay a one time fee (of $600) to set your region to the grandfathered pricing (195 per month instead of 295). That pricing has expired so if you didn't do it you cannot now. The truth is that the cost to get regions to begin with is needs to be recouped by land owners. if they spend 300 - 500 on an aftermarket region they need to charge enough per month to cover the 295 for on going tier and then find extra money to recoup that 500. If they did buy the grandfathered and paid 600 thats now 1100 bucks they are in the hole from day 1. If they had 15000 prims before at 1.50 per prim per week that brings in 90000 per month or 10000 L$ in profit or about $37. Keeping that price point at 1.50 extended out to 20000 prims means 40000 in profit per month or a little less than 150 per month. So assuming 100% occupancy, thats at least 4 months to just get back to where you were. Assume you want to build up about a months worth of spare lindens to account for people moving out or paying late, and of course landowners want to make money. In this light... well the prices make more sense. The land game is very, very low margins and I am sure many are seeing this as a way to actually make some money. however, there are bound to be land owners out there that will look at this as a way to price aggressively and help ensure that they are 100% full. There is always a better price.
  13. no date has been given for when pricate estates will get the upgrade. I would be it is after the new year.
  14. On the game....well the first 4 levels were fun, but the 5th challenge is a mind numbing grind of starting from the beginnning. I have all but given up...theree is no pattern to any of the tasks. Without a pattern to follow you are left to guess and cheat your way through by adjusting your cam as best possible. Sadly this game is as poorly designed as the previous. It looks nice and should be fun but it isnt. The homes though are another story. I fear that they will have the prices artifically elevated by land bots sneaking into grab parcels on auction at the last second to turn them for a profit. There are some pretty nice spots especially if you can grab 2 or 3 parcels near each other. 702 prims is nice but finding themed housing that is nice and fits a 32x32 is going to be difficult. having two side byt side would help a lot. I also worry about the lack of deed restrictions somewhat, but perhaps that wont come to pass. I would love to move to Horizons and will be trying my luck at the auction come Friday but I wont be looking to pay many 1000's of lindens for these parcels. I think the idea of mainland comminuty is a great one perhaps this will come to pass in Horizons.
  15. I think I will just be un-helpful and offer this post to say that I am online an awful lot and I really don't have these problems. Sorry it all sucks for you.
  16. I think in general no. Thats not to say it is impossoble, but most regions that rely on tips for income do not make much money. Homesteasd especially are hard to monitize becuase they have a fairly high price per prim as compared to a full region. You cannot have an estate (being a land owner who pays LL directly) without owning a full region so you will need to rent a homestead from someone. IMHO. Do it for fun, and if you manage to make money along the way, or come closer to paying nothing all the better. Plan though to spen the $125 USD per month to pay out of your own pocket.
  17. The parcel windlight option is Firestorm only and as was mentioned is still an optional setting even then. The best choice would be to use experience tools to set the windlight and let people opt into the experience when they arrive.
  18. More samples. Put them on Flickr so you start getting exposure there.
  19. You might also consider using auto replace for some of the default text.doesnt help with the HUD part. But I find it serves a very similar purpose.
  20. There is a known issue with a Windows 10 update that can cause massive lag. If you are Windows 10 you may want to investigate that angle.
  21. It has said, but I will add my voice. Sansar is made by Liden Labs and is a virtual world, bu thats where things grow apart...wildly apart. Sansar is not SL 2.0. It is not a replacment for or even the same sort of tool as SL. I think if anything Sansar could increase the visibility of SL. Anything that encourages virtual worlds and the acceptance of them is a good thing. Plus LL is undoubtedly going to learn things from building Sansar some of which may make their way back to us in SL.
  22. I am not sure how this helps to organize anything. The secret to good inventory management regardless is a system that is easy to use, males sense to you and makes use of lots of well organized folders to provide structure. I don't think it would make much sense to reload some subset of inventory just to accomplish a task. I don't think it would make any noticeable difference in viewer performance. There are already a number of great inventory management tools available that can make keeping large inventories organized.
  23. Welcome back. Perhaps it will be different. If you left before the teen grid merge well, it's a whole new world, with many of the same problems. You will find avatars to be very, very different. Many of the old places will be gone, replaced with a large number less. It's still fun though.
  24. I have looked and note found anywhere. Some of the erotic voice places though will get some very soft, slow sexy voices which triggers my ASMR.
