  1. I am LUCKY on my sys in FS at a sim with 10+ avis at 1920x1080 res and 'everything on' to ever get more than like 15fps, usual it is in 8-12 fps range. and this is with a 4th gen core i7, GTX 1080 and 16g ram
  2. I always set the main subjects to fully render but that is primary should they fall outside the limit of being a jelly doll. ( i do sometimes de render some 'super fat' wedding guests) If everyone is rendering and nobody is becoming jelly dolled, the render fully really don't seem t have much purpose
  3. I gotta say I really don't understand alot this from a technical perspective, but I am getting real frustrated lately in SL I have a fairly robust computer, i7 3.8ghz, a Gtx 1080, 16 GIG RAM, I video wedding so de-rendering people isn't an option, and graphics need to be fully on, and it is often times a complete mess. Its getting harder and harder to get quality footage unfortunately. FS uses a checkbox to 'dynamically adjust level of detail' and often when filming a wedding, that does need to be un-checked so stuff wont un-render. What i would find very useful is a rendering prioritization - that particular avis can be selected full full render, never impostor them, every one else you can impostor. As it is now you can set the max# of non imposer avis, but sometimes a bride or groom or other wedding party member might end up as a imposer even if I select them to always render fully. I guess I'm more of a specialty case so would be pretty unlikely that would ever get implemented
  4. there are a number of tutorials floating around on doing high res photos for SLsearching google or youtube is helpful. strawberry Signh has a blog with tutorials on that to name one The basic to start wih is 1) ctrl+ 0 to zoom in to remove the fisheye lens look of the default camera 2) make sure in prefs you have antistropic filter on and antialsing on 3) a minimum of double your screen resolution for image size when you capture an image here (alot go 5k + pixel size) 4) getting correct lighting in world, and no, you don't always need 'shadows' on 5) in many many cases - PHOTOSHOP - or equivalent. Ive seen amazing pics from SL sans post retouching, but in most case 'perfection' requires post processing 6) on Hair, there are some really good vendors out now, but some of the best SL pics you might see, people will draw the hair in from scratch or enhance the SL hair in post process . Again, lighting and camera angle has alot to do with how well in world hair looks
  5. I used to use the integrated graphics because Premire pro can use that for hardware accelerated rendering but then Premiere no long supports the integrated graphics from Haswell chips in 2020, so, that sucks, and if it is 'activated everytime you start PP it gives you a warning your graphics is unsupported
  6. i still have my gtx 970 but i really don't know how to work that al.. and mostly this set up works fine
  7. As an update, I went to the same place on the BD viewer and had zero issue there. I know its not apples to apples comparison, but still, makes me wonder if not a FS issue maybe something within Win 10 is doing something to FS. I'm getting about 20-30 (or more) fps with shadows on with the BD viewer
  8. I use a 3D mouse and OBS for recording however on this i was just moving the cam with alt+ right click no 3D cam (with FPS that low, it's all herky jerky on a 3D mouse for recording) i plan on going back soon see if i experience the same thing. I also just removed the latest Win10 cumulative update for February, sometimes Win10 updates can really f*** some things up
  9. no not maxed on GPU Mem this is a GTX 1080 with 8g of memory - when this was going on used about 4- 5 gig of memory
  10. this is just the blackout within the viewer not the whole desktop. the viewer framer it self is still there and is flashing 'not responding' at the top left corner. Im not maxed out on RAM and cerianly not maxed out on GPU memory - CPU is at like 50-60% maybe GPU is about 20% the one thing i didnt test is if BD viewer reacts the sane way,,,,,,
  11. has anyone seen this error? this happens in conjunction when the frame rate on a sim drops to like a few frames per sec . CPU usage seems fairly high, GPU usage very low. I am wondering if this might be a FS issue, a Win10 issue or even a hardware issue. Sys specs below. I am including a video so you can visually see what I am seeing. I should add this isn't everywhere in SL but in certain sims this happens. others are fine - even crowded ones CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz (3707.26 MHz) Memory: 16326 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 18363.592) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1080/PCIe/SSE2 Windows Graphics Driver Version: 26.21.14.4250 OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 442.50
  12. all the more reason to go premium so yoou never have to visit the toilet bowls called sandboxes... 😄
  13. Ctrl + S in FS. resynch animations. If you are trying to video people dancing or such, super useful. Non existent in BD "edit' a objection you are wearing via inventory, only in FS. If you have on a facelite to make a photo, super useful. In BD have to use the old fashioned method turn on transparencies and hope you can find the face light Refresh textures in FS. Cannot do that in BD But alot of what BD does that FS doesn't do outweighs alot of those minor things. Also, tone mapping super awesome specially making dark images when using BD
  14. EVERYBODY is a 'photographer' in SL. You can just have fun with it and make lots of nice photos and some people are still willing to pay a small amount for a 'processional' photo or focus on an area where you will find paid photo work, namely being weddings. Good, I mean really good, wedding photographers are often sought, and if you find the right venue or clients, you can charge decent amounts for your efforts
  15. IMO SL will never be 'fast' or free of lag. Regardless of the coding, it still requires to 'live process' all the graphics, the lighting, shadows, mesh, avatars, textures etc... They 'kinda' figured it out in Sansar pretty much as each new scene (or in SL a sim) was downloaded onto the local client, but I think a user generated virtual world, I really don't think anything can make SL operate like say, any game you might play on your computer
  16. follow up to this post, It was great to work with Brooke and her husband on their wedding. Thank you brooke!
  17. "misogynistic" could easily describe the entire RLV system in Sl - but , all or the participants are consensual, so what does that say?
  18. well. Ok then. Man, it was much easier in school when we were taught we were either boys or girls!
  19. What I have never understood is some sims the GPU ramps up and is at 90-100% and FPS is generally pretty good. Other sims given the same settings and WL, it is choking on higher CPU and very little on the GPU with lower FPS. I know of course it is not apples to apples, but what gets a sim to run more GPU and one run more CPU? I don't know if it is just different servers or different code or what. Some sims you enter and everything is choking the CPU is high and the FPS is super low until the scene gets more processed, then GPU comes up along with FPS. Other sims right off the GPU is cooking and FPS is great. I really have no idea what is running 'under the hood'
  20. this is easy. #1 the ability to move open windows off onto another monitor
