Madi Melodious Posted March 3 Share Posted March 3 I need some advice. What is the best way to deal with a harasser and possible stalker? There is the is this user has been coming in to our estate and videoing our events without permission. We have it clearly stated in our covenant clearly states video is not allowed without permission. He has particularly taken an interest in me as I've been featured in several of his videos, with out permission. Then he posts these videos to youtube and makes unflattering comments about people in the video. We have reached out and ask him to stop and pointed out his actions violate the TOS and LL community standards. He has been banned from our estate but makes alts to get round the ban. We have AR'ed his primary avatar based on the video's but nothing has been done. Advice on this issue please. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Chic Aeon Posted March 3 Share Posted March 3 You have done all the correct things. Only LL can help and sometimes they are slow (very slow) and sometimes nothing happens at all. I suggest ARing each new account and maybe LL will get tired of your complaints and do something. You ight also contack Youtube explaining that this is against the grid policy. Most of us have been ignored on our complaints over the years and LL has much bigger problems at the moment. Hence things may take longer than usual --- if they are addressed. The OP states that this troll is breaking the rules clearly stated on their land and making them personally uncomfortable. Yes she has rules but they are unenforsable. All she is doing is advertising the situation and making it more widely know. Free advertising for her venue perhaps? LL will do nothing about Second Life content that appears on other platforms, including sacred text logs. Best advise, which I gave, was to simply ignore and move on. WereBeast Alpha Posted March 3 Share Posted March 3 When i had my own sim i had an orb that only allowed alts under certain days to not be on my sim. i did the 90 day thing its an orb from casper system which is a good one. I also Reccomend if you own the sims or rent it to put payment info on file for those who can enter the sim. We ban him and he creates a new avatar to get around it and come to video us more. We can't put a ban on new avatars because it looks like the last one he hit us with is a 10 year old alt. Evah Baxton Posted March 5 Share Posted March 5 If it's an amateur troll then LL might be able to do something. If the troll is a pro then they are going to have a hard time tracking every alt. It will take YouTube a long time to work it out. Aside from security orbs and blocks, you can try taking no offense to anything they say or do. Trolls feed on it. They will test you. It could take days or weeks, but it's the best you can do on your own. They might even get explicit. Be ready for that. Remember that whatever they do is just pixels. They can't destroy your work or steal your IP. Don't state anything about your intention to ignore them. Don't tell them that you know they are a troll. Don't tell them you are reporting them to LL. Don't talk about TOS violations. It's all hilarious to them. If you are using voice, you might try moving into chat during that time. Communicating in chat will make it harder for them to create YouTube content. I hope that they will move on quickly and you find some peace. Not only do most people who like that kind of videos prefer voice, because noise is somehow fun for them, but also most of their viewers won't have the patience to sit there and watch the local chat, and their views will drop off. Takes all of two seconds to kick and ban someone. Don’t ignore him, but don’t engage him. I’ve seen troll videos on youtube where the invaded homeowner actually argues with the troll spending minutes over what should take a few seconds to resolve. I personally take pictures whereever i go in SL, I don’t recall ever checking to see if it was permitted. LL won’t do anything about someone taking a video where its “not allowed”. I’m pretty sure thats a personal dispute LL will not get involved in. I doubt that youtube will remove the video of a bunch of cartoons doing whatever, unless its porn. We banned him left and right and he just kept coming back on alts. They'd walk in, go to the exact same spot, and just camp. I started walking up and saying hello to him and asking him how the view was, etc. He got annoyed. I haven't seen him in a while. Of course, I was also dressed like this... And always greeted his alts as if we were old friends. For some reason, guys who like spying on others hate it when others stand there and look at them doing it. People are silly. Maybe if he has a thing for a pretty lady or something, she could try a Yithian avatar as well. It was obviously too sexy for my stalky friend. I'm always down to meet people from the forums. And I wish I could do more to help people inworld who are dealing with poopy people, too. This is really only 100% effective if you own an entire region, though. File it under something like that as a copyright strike on YouTube. Hist channel could get demonetized or even removed.
