  1. The hand full of times I attempted to watch it (I believe it was the really old stuff), I considered my friends at the time who proclaimed that it was the greatest thing ever, and came to the conclusion the show was meant for stoners.
  2. My two guesses: 1. The good old "try clearing your viewer's cache" 2. Power off the DSL modem/router for a couple of minutes to reboot it, more then a couple of times this has cleared up network weirdness for me.
  3. You can definitely add my vote for this, and I don't much care for the mods sweeping this off to a less visible place.
  4. Cool! 16 is back! Ah, damn it, just another necropost.
  5. Have several of their cars, use to drive pretty well on mainland with the car in "economy mode". Lately though sim crossings have been terrible in whatever vehicle or whatever make I try.
  6. Only suggestion I have is try cam'ing out away from yourself, if someone has made their avatar invisible you should still be able to see their name tag as they can't hide that.

What about it do you think is so great? In my opinion what makes CHUI so easy to hate is that by default it comes up fully expanded with a mind boggling amount of bells and whistles when all you want to do is say something like "Hello, why did you sit in my lap?" If instead they created it to look almost like the old simple chat bar by default with an added button to start expanding to show its fancy features, then I think it would have been much better received. Kind of like being permitted to unwrap a gift when you feel like it instead of it blowing up in your face.
  8. A lot of these new features look like they could actually be useful, like being able to set up chat groups on the fly. But I think they could have been done as well, if not better, without a whole new interface. Looks like they gave up on the built in language translator?
  9. The day when I finally went out and bought a 512 sq.m mainland parcel, then soon another then another. Terraformed and rebuilt several times till I managed a halfway decent build without just dropping a large block on the parcel. Had a killer view, as long as I was looking west, and I hardly noticed the ugly neighbors on the other sides. Though the whole experience was clearly more then one day, being that I can't recall exactly how many days it took I feel the whole time classifies as my best time in SL. Can't recall how many different places I've purchased and built on since then, some are almost as fun as this one was but this one will always be my first. I do miss the place sometimes, but the last time I revisited the neighborhood had actually gotten uglier.
  10. In FireStorm you can right click on a button then select "remove button", or select "Toolbar buttons" and be able to drag a button to the left side or right side or bottom. Or just remove all toolbar buttons and enjoy the extra screen space.
  11. I was heavily into TinyMUDs and related worlds when someone told me about SL, but with my cranky old computer with cranky old dialup I knew it wasn't going to happen so I gave them my cranky old response "Those with real imagination do it in text!" But over the years I frequently read what I could find about SL and when I finally got a decent internet connection I scraped together a better computer and logged in for the first time, and I've pretty much forgotten about the text based worlds.

  13. I checked 19", however .... My system uses two monitors, a 19" and a 17", and both are the old 4:3 aspect ration instead of the wide-screen 16:9. A 19" wide-screen actually looks small to me because the screen height is so much shorter. And yes, they are both LCD monitors, NOT the old space hogging space heater CRTs (which my cat misses)
  14. Great pic. Reminds me of sim crossings for some reason. :smileywink:
  15. Sculpties are just a really messed up subset of mesh that you'll only find here on SL and OpenSims, and thus to do them in Blender at least somewhat easily you'll need to install a plug in for Blender, most common is PrimStar which you can find here. You can also read the wiki on sculpties here. Or ..... You could skip sculpties, and be able to use Blender without the addon, and use mesh instead. A good starting point for that is here
  16. Arielle Simondsen wrote: as I said it *wasn't* labeled as a vendor, I bought what appeared to be a skin/shape. It was NOT a vendor as far as I know but when I clicked on it to open, a vendor like script popped up and began taking all my money. Probably not many of us find it surprising when someone finds and exploits a loophole in something LL set up, disheartening but not surprising. Lesson that can be taken from this is be VERY careful who you buy from and don't keep too much L$ on your primary avatar, transfer the extra to an alt and use that alt for nothing else.
  17. Wish I could say I was joking, but yes it took about a week. Hopefully the attention from these posts will bring enough ARs for this case that it will bump you up on their priority list, but then again .... :smileyfrustrated:
  18. Last time I AR'd to have griefer objects removed it took close to a week. Only other suggestion I have is IM the land owner and maybe get them to return the objects AND set a autoreturn.
  19. Often when I come across an abandoned parcel owned by the Lindens with junk on it I file a support case Open a support case to request the junk be cleared away and autoreturn set. Typically in no more then two days things are cleaned up.

  21. It all makes so much sense now! The other day I noticed what looked like frosting on my front door and bits of cake all over the front courtyard, but autoreturn cleaned it all up before I had a chance to look more closely at it. Looking back now I believe that was on my last rez day. Guess I was sent a rez day cake and it crashed on delivery, partly my fault for living so close to a sim crossing. Or something I said really touched a nerve and my next rez day is going to be a doozy.
  22. Captivitas wrote: Hmm how do you see where a sim ends and another start? I try to look at the minimap but cant see it On the mini-map the sim you are on has a different shade of blue then the surrounding sims. If you have Property Lines on (World->Show->Property Lines) you'll see lines around the parcels an sims. Practice makes it easier to see the sim borders, I still often get caught by surprise.
  23. Just renaming "busy" to "do not disturb" would have been a win by itself. Being able to set up conferences will be handy. Other then that it looks like someone spent way too much time playing around with interfaces, and it looks likely to be yet another nest of bugs.
  24. Only thing I can add is that it depends a lot on what's been done in the latest server updates. Sometimes I can travel all night with little trouble, but lately I've been giving up after having to relog the third or forth time. :smileyfrustrated:

Yikes! You should consider your OP a Public Service Announcement—if I ever happened to be someplace and that program was on I might have said, "Hmmm. Wonder what this is about?". Having seen your post I'll just move right along instead, and probably save myself yelling, "Gaahhh!" Sounds like 'Jerry Springer Meets the Metaverse'. Ick.:smileyhappy: Being that MTV pioneered such trash as Real World and JackAss I can imagine what sort of trash Catfish is. Never seen an episode of Catfish and likely never will, the spread of their drama driven reality television to other stations made my decision to drop cable TV easy, and since then I've enjoyed the extra money and time I've had for other things.
