  1. The file size of a 512x512 texture is about a quarter of a 1024x1024, so if you can do it with less then four 512x512 textures that'd be the way to go.
  2. First time I heard about Second Life I was on a MUCK (an old text only virtual world) when a guy came around like he was on a recruiting drive. At that time my internet connection was dialup and my cranky computer was capable of something like 32 colors (yes, colors, not color bits), so he didn't waste much time with me. But he, and later conversations I overheard about Second Life, got me curious and I read up on Second Life over the years. About early 2010 I finally got access to DSL, scrounged up a better though still wimpy computer from forgotten parts at work, and rez'd in world for the first time. As all the grey forms slowly materialized and their textures rez'd even slower I figured 'great, I'm a JAFO (Just Another F***ing Observer)'. But I stuck with it, sighed and muttered as I waited for things to rez, and was impressed enough with what I saw then I soon upgraded the computer several times then replaced it all together. Up till my first rez day what I had heard and read of about Second Life had painted a pretty rosy picture of easy socializing, amazing sites, and easy money for those willing to make a little effort. I've always been skeptical of "easy money" so wasn't surprised to find that to be a great exaggeration, after a couple pick-on-the-noob experiences I rediscovered my thick skin, and though a lot of what I saw was just trash I have seen a lot of amazing sites.

Give you an idea if he just purchased it or had it for a while. That number isn't entirely reliable though. I've seen it be set days in the past on land that has been in the hands of the owner for years. Could that be due to the owner merging a newer purchased parcel with their older one?
  4. More interested in creating then socializing, and tend to spend more L$'s on cars then my own avatar.
  5. Sure. In this day and age it's not too difficult to find people who are practically vegetables. :matte-motes-evil:

  7. Stayed at Lionheart a while back and very much recommend them. Very well landscaped, many of the lots are double prim, reasonable prices. Only reason I didn't stay is because I actually missed some of the chaos on mainland. :smileylol:
  8. Wow! Hard turn into forum Lifestyles and Relationships

  10. I much prefer warmer climates so when in the snow regions I'm typically just passing through, however there are a few places that caught my attention. 1. On the west coast is a six region grouping that appears to be winter Olympics themed, at Cross Check there is an ice hockey arena with a sort of virtual hockey league with about a dozen teams. Just happened across there while a game was in progress, and though I'm not much into any winter sports I could tell they were having a blast and a lot of effort had gone into developing it. 2. At Loveland there's a pretty impressive castle I think is worth checking out. 3. There is a railroad starting at Smithers Bluff going all the way to an info hud at Wengen, have had fun riding this. 4. Most, if not all, of Orelle is an oriental themed build that I think is worth checking out. Happy exploring.
  11. From my relatively short three years on SL it has definitely been better. From Second Life Grid Survey, both concurrency and number of regions have been on a steady decline for quite a while. You might see land being sold and bought but I'm seeing an increasing amount of mainland go abandoned. No I don't have sources and figures to back that up, but as I check out empty looking plots and seeing a good number of them owned by the Lindens, seeing plots being abandoned and not going up for sale, and seeing abandoned land being taken off of the for sale list but still owned by the Lindens, I can't see how the amount of abandoned land is doing anything other then growing.

I did not get asked to use a script and neither has it happened before. Details, details, details. Like what color and flavor was it? Was it a quick high pitched squeak? Or more like a long low rumble? Could you cut it with a knife or did it just melt like butter in a frying pan? We are going to need a little more information if we are to diagnosis this malodorous infestation. LOL! The most details I usually get is did it clear the room, and was I able to blame it on the dog.
  13. This is one of those times I wish we had buttons like "Agree" and "Like" to click on. Of all the times I've searched for a solution for an issue in SL, the vast majority of time it is in these forums where I have found the solution.
  14. For me it's mostly the creativity. I can spend most of the evening wandering around admiring what others have created and making a try at it myself. Though my creations are far from the greatest it gives me satisfaction to have them out in public view.
  15. I've had my answering machine on 24/7 for years now, I can recognize the numbers of the few people I want to talk to and pick up. Of the rest some leave messages, some I can hear sigh and sometimes mutter something like "fuc..." before hanging up.
  16. Another possibility is a female avatar that looks like she enjoys collecting trophies :smileywink:
  17. I've made alts for various reasons and over time I've collected quite a few of them, though I think it's still less then a dozen. I've made them when I needed a crash test dummy, when I needed another member in a private land group, or when LL has created yet another newbie introduction program. They current one where all the newbs get is a hand full of doors that sends them out into the merciless general population, not one of the lab's brightest ideas. My most memorable experiences with anti-alt attitude was at an info hub. Someone wanted to drag me off shopping to get the newbness off of me and I immediately told her I was just an alt and didn't really need her offer. She then went off accusing me of being a griefer, or rigging contests, or being some stalker after her. Her paranoid accusations came so quickly and numerously the only response I could manage was "Pfft .... muted" and teleported the hell away from her.
  18. I initially read the title as "Nipple hider remover" and thought yet another perfect application for de-render (need a dirty old fart smiley)
  19. I have changed my group donation to 9568, so that isn't getting in the way. Might try changing your group donation to 8704, can't log in to verify but it seems the way the group bonus was figured was counterintuitive.
  20. Not much more you can do unfortunately, other then mention this on the questionnaire when you downgrade to basic.
  21. My last request took seven days, but I seen it happen as quickly as the next day. And keep in mind that they may set it for sell to the public instead of just to you, so you'll want to check for responses to your ticket fairly frequently and be ready to pounce.
  22. ImaTest wrote: You can try to manually clear cache, if you know where you have it stored, but not everyone does. Typically-in windows-it's stored in the application folder under second life(or your viewer of choice). I store mine elsewhere tho. You can safely manually delete anything in that cache folder and it won't harm your viewer, or pc. But sometimes even that isn't very effective. For a problem like yours, I wouldn't opt for this fix, because I don't think it would work. My SL viewer stores its cache in C:\Documents and Settings\work\Local Settings\Application Data\SecondLife (substitute your windows login for "work")
  23. I've used Imprudence to import/export my own builds, not the newest version of Imprudence but next to newest (1.3.2?). Sometimes I see the process stall and I abort it, move my avatar a couple of meters, then retry. Once with a larger build I had to set the texture of the entire build to default-plywood before it would work.
