  1. A tack ball mouse might work for you, you would still need a place to set it but don't need to move the whole thing around like a normal mouse. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/mice-keyboards/trackball-mouse/abcat0513007.c?id=abcat0513007
  2. never buy from any one that can't be found in search
  3. They don't post much here or on the marketplace, but have made 11 post to the blog in the last year, would be nice if blog post got automaticly linked to from the other 2 locations.
  4. I don't know the answer, but it's a good question and not just for .dae files but all so for .raw, .psd, .oar It's been a long time since I got a file from a SL merchant but normally it was by email or thought a website they owned, where you payed inworld and got a pass word to use on the web site to down load. I think you would need a vendor inworld or a rezable object to be delivered from the market place that when rezzed would generate the pass word and then IM it to the customer and forward it to the web site.
  5. you could set up a mesh plane with up to 8 faces laid out any way you need for a vendor, I've seen several for sale on the marketplace with different layouts, or there easy to make.
  6. Try removing the hud and every thing it controls and reattach them this might reset the scripts, Note some items need to have the hud and attachments put on is the correct order. Is there an on/off button that might turn the other scripts in the objects off? If none of that helps contact the creator
  7. There's lot of types of lag could be your computer, your inter connection, the sim your in if it's resources are used up, this frequently happens in large crowds. Knowing what viewer your using, and the other infromation listed above will help others help you. There's nothing in the graphics preferences that should prevent you from using chat.
  8. Found some more resources about vitural currencies in an artical at hypergridbusiness one has a large list of international reffrenes http://www.virtualcurrencyreport.com/files/2014/03/Virtual-Currencies_International-Chart.pdf http://www.virtualcurrencyreport.com/ http://www.virtualcurrencyreport.com/2014/03/irs-clarifies-tax-treatment-of-bitcoin-and-other-convertible-currencies/
  9. I've found a few articles recently that are saying that the IRS is now going to treat convertible currencies as capital gains? http://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipserb/2014/03/15/taxes-from-a-to-z-2014-h-is-for-holding-period/ http://www.forbes.com/sites/peterjreilly/2014/03/26/bitcoins-not-tax-fairy-dust-second-life-still-a-tax-haven/
  10. I've started going to steampunk conventions in RL to help promote my SL business in RL right now I'm just giving out business cards to people I meet , but I'm looking at doing some panels on SL to help grow the steampunk community in SL. On the marketplace, if your images are listed right they end up on google image searches, which can be an other way people from out side SL might discover SL. From time to time I see adds for SL all over the web. My guess those are adds target at me, as I do lots of web searches for SL issues. So in a way those are wasted advertisements because I'm getting targeted because I'm all ready an SL user.
  11. Bots are avatars ran by a progran. some are good some are bad. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bot http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Bot_policy
  12. Great idea, but even real lindens don't communicate in world much, or at all any more. Govner Linden is not likely to ever respond to any one as it's a manintece account for land management not attached to any one Linden, referied to by LL as mythical and as elusive as Bigfoot . http://secondlife.com/destination/governor-linden-s-mansion
  13. I've never seen one of my Homepage listing enhancements, you can see how many views and clicks you get that's really the only way I know my adds are there, but I think you have to wait 24 hours before that info starts to show.
  14. I started in SL knowing ZERO about 3D building and programming. After about 3 years of building in SL I was able to use those skills to get a RL full time 3D design job, unfortunately that company went out of business. In SL I'm lucky to make 20$ a week, so I just look at SL as a fun way to learn new skills. The other big impact SL has had on my RL life it that it saves me lots of $ in RL. I buy or make what I want in SL, and buy only what I need in RL. To avoid spending too much time working in SL I like to research what ever I'm building in RL. I've ended up on the beach swimming with sea lions or riding an old steam trains because of SL projects.
  15. I think SL is a GREAT tool for being creative, not so great at a tool for making creative profits as a content creator. SL isn't a creative content based economy it's a land based economy. Both LL and giant land barons benefit form free and stolen content, why would they want there renters to waste money on content when they can spend it on rent and buying land. I just finished a custom home for a customer and with a day or 2 a well known freebee maker (alt of the land owner) stopped by their new house and offered to furnish it for free. Largest freebee hunt in SL is all so ran by a land owner. Tools in SL have progressed very slowly for content creators, the marketplace is a joke, in world search, lack of decent sales reporting, new we own it all TOS, the list goes on... sims with only 15,000 prims are old news inworldz 30,000 to 45,000 prims, kitley sims are 100,000 prims, what to increase the demand for sales of rezable inworld content just increase the prim count of a sim, every one would add more content to max out their new prim limit, which would lead to more shopping, and more prims to build more complex creative items. Not such such a good thing for LL and land owners which want to rent you more land if you need more prims.. Top 10 estates own 13.8% of private islands in SL, LL gets paid from them if their land is rented or not. LL not going to mess with those kind of land owning customers. SL differently benefits form all of the creative content (made, stolen, or given away) by others, LL doesn't need content creators to succeed, they just need people to try. I'm not saying that all land owners are bad , just that this is how the economy in SL works.
  16. you can see how many people are in SL here http://gridsurvey.com/economy.php where they are, might be a better question, for that I don't have an answer.
  17. Most people in SL won't trust a 3 day old avatar with a blank profile, specially when requesting to be contacted in RL. You might want to give a better explanation of what your wanting to learn, and provide some kind of of verifiable RL business contact info for your self, if expecting people to be contacted in RL. You could all so just use inworld voice which might go over better with SL users that don't want to give there RL contact info out. Mean while can un-novice your self here for much less $ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Main_Page If your looking at starting a business in SL or educational project in SL it's HIGHLY recommended to just get inworld and explore for a few days/weeks to see how things work.
  18. If your accounts been hacked you need to report it to linden Lab. Your more likely to have some one hack your account to give you $ then have LL see your post here.
  19. I've never worked on a train script so can't help with that part, but I have spent many hours testing trains with some train developers. What problems are you having that make you think some thing is 180 degrees off, depending on what they are it could be the alignment of the root prim, or your rotation of your sit target, or other setting in your script likely in the controls section. Bucking bronco is that happening at sim crossing? Or same place on the track ever time? How complex is your over all physic shape, Whats the physics shape of your wheels, and what physics material type ? If your train has variable speeds, are the problems more frequent at higher speeds?
  20. I've noticed some times when I edit an associated object it takes the marketplace several minutes to see the new objects in the items edit page even though I can see it on the manage listing page. Normally closing and reopening the items edit page a few times seams to work, not sure if that is refreshing the page, or just taking up time to let the marketplace update it's self.
  21. I've never had this happen to me, but I all so don't keep L$ in my account for them to take, I use an alt as a bank for this. Use the distribution option on the marketplace to automate the transfers.
  22. AgEnTHuskey wrote: Gotta be honest being a beginning scripter I cant tell you why it works, thats just how I learned to do it from looking at some friends scripts thats the message it looks for so if I did /3larion The script would activate. I started learning LSL the same way as you and had no experance with any other launage. One thing that realy help me out was a friend that showed me the LSL wiki. To learn how to edit scripts in LSL you don't have to know every thing about LSL, but you do need to know how to reference it. Functions | Events | Types | Operators | Constants | Flow Control
  23. To avoid this problem I just don't keep L$ in my main account they get passed to an alt I use as bank, you can set up distributions on the marketplace to automate that. Would be nice if they would fix problem.
  24. If your just using that script to set the particle on once, you can just delete the script or remove that function once the particle is set. Particles once set are part of the prims properties and won't turn off unless you use and other script to turn it off. I doubt that particle function is causing you an extra laggy time by it's self.

One way to get an idea of what LL is up to is to see what jobs they have posted. http://lindenlab.com/careers The marketplace could fall under the job of the web development manger, if that job is currently vacant could suggest no one is currently managing the development of the marketplace.
