  2. I'll take marketplace sales over inworld, inworld sales don't increase your search placement like marketplace sales do. All most all my items are copy/mod so marketplace makes for easy gifting. Inworld sales records only last 30 days so create more record keeping. Good customer service for a failed market place deliver or an accidental double purchase is the single best way to get reviews. With the exception of one item (a demo would likely fix that) lost inworld sales are way less then the L$ I save not having an inworld shop. Biggest advantage I had with an inworld shop was that it attracted request for custom work, largely because of my shop building it's self, lol may be I should have taken that as a hint and made building instead of attachments. The one other advantage I found with an inworld shop was customers were more likely to buy more then one thing at a time, but still my sales were still 80% marketplace. I use to do the steam hunt it really helped inworld sales, but funny thing is the last 2 I didn't have an inworld shop so wasn't in the hunt, but my sales were still way up that month.

Have you tried: select object-Editt-Texture-Mapping-change from Default to Planar-Select all the faces you want to aline, then check Aline planar faces. I think the openAline script may have been written before this feature was added to the viewer.
  4. It's a great goal, if you want to do this your self, I'd start by reading a few books on programing, first a book on beginning programming, then a book on database or game programming. Then start on some smaller projects and work your way up to your goal. If you decide to look for some one to do it for you, keep in mind a project like this could take 6 month to over a year.

I had a look at the boat she loves and I just realised that these stolen boats are nowhere near as nice as mine. And they weren't made or meant for use in SL. My low prim boats are much prettier, and they're driveable. Quality will all ways stand out, but only if the customer gets a chance to compare items, I have to wonder how many new residents get frustrated and leave SL after buying or even just trying free items that are stolen and are useless in SL. I know There's a huge amount of first time new residents log ins each day but only a few that ever stay, would be interesting to see how many first time residents even shop inworld or on the marketplace before not returning, that might give some idea on how content, or the quality of content effects early retention.

It's far from dead, while the number of islands and concurrency have been declining for the last few years, one of the few things constantly growing in SL is user created content, there's around 20,000 new items listed on the marketplace each week. I think there's a critical mass of free items that has built up for 10 years, and some of the new trends with free items have had an even bigger impact, besides stolen mesh content form the web. There are professional creators who are sell everything they make free and full perm, and make a full time living doing so, not sure how you compeat with that.
  7. Personally I don't think of a Big Mac as food, but if your cat is all ready dead and your trying to embalm it then a Big Mac might help.
  8. I like this story. Sad beginning, though. Those with queasy stomachs might not want to read it. ETA: Now I've read it, the sad part isn't in there. (The story I had read was on another site and this one is more discreet.) Just don't click on the link to see what happened to the kitten, if you don't want to know. The upside is the kitten is getting well.

My question is when renting out a piece of land to someone should we still be going off prim limits ie: 50ls a week for 35 prims or off the land impact of the objects they place down? I know it's relativley simple to check both but I know some people won't open that more info tab for the breakdown of things. First off - there is a Land Forum/General Discussion which could be a good location. However, no one really cares. It still shows a number of prims when you check About Land/Objects to see what you have. So unless you provide a rental tool that counts "Land Impacts" against a rental limit I'd stay with prims. I just checket both firestorm and the LL viewer, both in about land call it Land impact, and both show reduced count for a group of boxes set to convex hull.
  10. I find direct delivery very easy, once you get use to it, it should only take a few minutes to list an item. May be if posted some of the bizarre messages you got, some one here could help you out. All so knowing what operating system your using and and what viewer your on would help.
  11. your more likely to get an answer if you post this in the merchants forum section. all so more info would be helpful, I'm not sure what step of the listing process your at.
  12. You can use PRIM_POINT_LIGHT in a llSetLinkPrimitiveParams to turn a light projector on/off by turning the point light on/off. For each variation in setting you just have to use a different prim, which may work if you only need a few variations.
  13. The only thing you can do is file a DMCA with linden labs, nothing will happen by posting here. You may all so want to remove the link to the store before LL removes it for you, it's ether a violation of the TOS or the fourms rules can't rember which.
  14. Just tested for this with the updated linden premium airplane and the passengers view was still laggy, so may be this is how it should work ?
  15. Yesterday I noticed that he camera view of passengers in every vehicles I tested had what looked like jumpy camera lag, while the operators camera was fine. I've been looking on line and in the forums but haven't been able to find any thing about this. Not sure if this is what LL might call a feature lol or if there's some thing I'm missing. So far I've tried removing all camera controls to see if both the operator and passenger had lag, but still only the passenger had lag, next I tried moving all the passenger controls and permissions to a separate sit script, but still the same lag for the passenger and the camera controls didn't take for the passenger. integer REQUEST_PERMS; list CAMERA_PARAMS = [ CAMERA_ACTIVE, TRUE, CAMERA_PITCH, 15.0, CAMERA_DISTANCE, 4.0, CAMERA_POSITION_LAG, 0.35, CAMERA_POSITION_LOCKED, FALSE, CAMERA_POSITION_THRESHOLD, .1, CAMERA_BEHINDNESS_ANGLE, 5.0, CAMERA_BEHINDNESS_LAG, 0.1, CAMERA_FOCUS_LAG, 0.2 , CAMERA_FOCUS_LOCKED, FALSE, CAMERA_FOCUS_THRESHOLD, .1, CAMERA_FOCUS_OFFSET, <1.0, 0.0, 0.0> ]; default { state_entry() { llLinkSitTarget(4,<-0.29559, -0.01699, 0.13394>, <0.00626, 0.64981, -0.00716, -0.76004>); llSetCameraEyeOffset(ZERO_VECTOR); llSetCameraAtOffset(ZERO_VECTOR); REQUEST_PERMS = (PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION | PERMISSION_CONTROL_CAMERA); } changed(integer change) { if (llAvatarOnLinkSitTarget(4) != NULL_KEY) llRequestPermissions(llAvatarOnLinkSitTarget(4), REQUEST_PERMS); } run_time_permissions(integer perms) { string anim = llGetInventoryName(INVENTORY_ANIMATION, 0); if (anim != "") { llStopAnimation("sit"); llStartAnimation(anim); if ( perms & PERMISSION_CONTROL_CAMERA ) llSetCameraParams( CAMERA_PARAMS ); } } } Not sure what to try or where to look next, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
  16. Thanks Czari, good to be back. Looks like I missed the roll out of the new listing catagories too, the mix of my items the sell and don't sell has compleatly changed, all so noticed that the over all number of listing on the marketplace is down by over 200,000 items
  17. Just got a review notification in my email. I've been away from SL for several months so probably missed the announcement of that feature, but a good surprise to come back to:) Hopefully theres other good news about the marketplace.
  18. Can you preview the item, to the right of the listing (actions-preview)
  19. are you using DD or MB, and at what poin of making the listing do you get that message. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Selling-in-the-Marketplace/ta-p/700193
  20. I found a web site that had some useful example forms for creating content license and custom contact work agreements. http://contentcreatorsunion.org/example-forms There's all so some interesting info on how to provide evidence to prove your the original creator in case of a dispute. http://contentcreatorsunion.org/sample-page/charter-articles I havent had to file a DMCA in SL, for those of you that have, what info or evdence is LL wanting as proof.

Their online webstore for virtual goods is doing well. listings and participation by both suppliers and customers is growing while their revenues from it are nowhere near the tiers revenues yet. They are tracking upwards The number of items listed on the marketplace is growing and at a fast pase that hasn't changed in over a year, which show my point that people come here to try to make a business, but the number of private islands is down 12% in the last year, and the concurrency over all is down, all though up recently which is normal this time of year but still over all down. Merchants listed in the last 3 steamhunts have declined each event by 20 to 40 merchants. Things my still be good for LL but for merchants how do you call this good, http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Merchants/Sellers-get-ripped-off-by-Market-Place-and-Lindens-won-t-help/td-p/1818609 The point being is that the only thing growing in SL is the number of items for sale which shows people trying to run businesses in SL, and LL still doesn't even recognize content creators as RL businesses that people use to feed their families with.

There's a very simple way to prove that, just stop letting people cash out of SL and see how many estate owners and content creators keep paying tier after 30 days, or close their shops. can look at this another way. entrepreneurs need retail customers. that's us. people with money to spend. who willing and able to put it into the game and no need or desire to take it out ourselves. If not then there is no money to cash out linden need us for the same reason. without us retail customers then there are no entrepreneurs or linden. even when their is a cashout facility available add: we need a reason to stay. the retail customers. apart from buy clothes and chat and socialise. like what is our deeper purpose for being here? who are we? what are we? who do we think we are? stuff like that On Ebay there's more customers then merchants but what would be left to shop for if the merchants couldn't cash out on Ebay, Ebay wasen't built by shoppers, I was built by people hoping to make $ and became successful because there were customers interested in what people were selling, a lot of people selling on Ebay never get rich or even make a full time living at it, but because so many people try there's more to chose from, which helps Ebay become successful, just like in SL, but Ebay treats their merchants far better then LL dose and Ebay has worked to create a better business platform for them, In SL LL wont even communicate with merchants. This doesn't mean SL wouldn't exist if it went back to not being able to cash out, just that there would be a LOT less land and a lot less to shop for, and there's much cheaper places then SL to build for fun, to express who and what we are, or just socialize.
  24. First and for most the success of SL, is that SL is business platform for entrepreneurs. There's a very simple way to prove that, just stop letting people cash out of SL and see how many estate owners and content creators keep paying tier after 30 days, or close their shops. As long as LL is making $ from SL then he's doing his job according to the people that pay him, as for the rest of us it's up to each of us to fire him or keep paying LL $ for the services provided, as we each see fit. I decided to fire LL as my service provider for my business, I have closed all my shops, and moved to places you can't talk about in this forum.
  25. New prims I rez are acting as if they are set to phantom but phantom is not checked I can't get them to return to a solid state. This is happening on magnum, is working fine on the main channel.
