There is no actual transfer of items. An avatar by its very definition is the virtual representation of the person driving it. I think a very good legal case could be made that there IS a transfer of the items - from one driver of the avatar to another. A transfer isn't just physically giving one item to another avatar, it is switching the items ownership from one person to another, which would be exactly what happens when an avatar is transferred, the inventory AS A WHOLE is transferred too. A license is given to a person not an avatar. An avatar is not recognized as a separate entity of the person it represents and has no legal rights in and of itself.
  2. It is possible, but you have to cooperate to some extent and wear a scripted item that tracks you. This is the only sure fire way it can be done. Do you wear something this person gave you? You may not have been informed that it is a tracker when they gave it to you.. If you are, don't wear it and see if it continues. Other than a scripted tracker , there is no sure way. However if the person knows you well they may be able to figure out where you are on their own, particularly if you frequent the same places all the time or are a creature of habit. You can get gadgets that will tell you when someone is online , even if they are 'hiding' it or not on your friends list.
  3. If you want a custom version of it that is for personal use you may find someone to do it. But if your looking to get it full perm and sell it I doubt you'll have any luck. I create things, just not clothes, and have been approached by people offering similar deals. But I just don't see the point in bring in another party that has really nothing more to offer than what I can do myself. A creator can sell things directly and doesn't need anyone to do that. So, why would they make it and not sell it for the full profit instead of only receiving a commission? If you have something of Real Value to offer they may agree to work with you, but you need to say what your offering in return. Also the creator who agrees to this will probably want the spit to be in their favor with you receiving a commission only on the ones you actually sell, not all that sell.
  4. It is against the TOS to do this and that's why you don't see it done. The only way you can transfer an avatar to another person is by getting written permission from LL.
  5. SOPA is a bad law period - that's why. It turns what has always been a civil law into a criminal law and then It gives power to private companies to enforce the law.
  6. Thanks so much for the heads up. I checked mine and everyone of them was set to the most liberal setting and notifications were set for inworld messages AND email. I too have a lot of 'trending' crap showing up that I don't want as well as I seem to have gained a lot of followers and signed up to follow a lot of people I don't care about. /me curses as I clean all the spam out of my email in box and feed
  7. Why not offer some of each? Say a basic pack of skins with three options, no make up, daytime makeup, and a dramatic evening makeup. Then sell tattoo layer makeup for eyes and others for lips that can be mixed or matched and sell them as individual tattoos as well as fat packs and maybe a "everything" pack with the three skins and all makeup. That way people can buy what they want. You can also get repeat sales by offering different makeup by the season, or even as new trends appear. When I bought my skin, I opted to buy all the variations in a pack, which was quite a few. Even so, I'd love it if the creator would also offer tattoos of other makeup.
  8. No thanks, I'm already a goddess! :smileywink:
  9. Avatars only die temporarily in SL. If you go to a roleplay, combat, weapons allowed sim, you can expect this type of thing. Entering such places is a tacit agreement to be fair game. Some places have a special tag or titler you can wear to indicate your an observer but not all. If you want to avoid this, be sure to check out the place before going to it in search. It will generally indicate that this is the case. Alternatively, some areas have 'safe zones' where you can land and get the information and leave unharmed if you wish to. If you have any other question, please edit your post and explain. You click on the options button on the top right of your post to do this.
  10. You can go to your forum/answers account page to find them. Click your name at the top right on yours screen, and it will take you there.
  11. Unfortunately mesh viewers need a good computer to run smoothly. You may want to check the minimum specs for the veiwer you have and compare it to yours. I understand you can't afford an upgrade, but at least you'll konw if your wasting your time trying to run it. Sorry i don't know much about Mac's so can't help you much. You should try the inworld phoenix/firestorm group though, They can probably help you.
  12. Actually the TOS specifically forbids you to do this. You may take pictures or machinima IN WORLD and use them outside, but may not export your avatar to use outside of SL and do as your asking: FROM TOS:Section 7.7 Linden Lab provides access to Linden In-World Content and hereby grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, limited, revocable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the Linden In-World Content solely In-World as permitted through the normal functionality of the Service and under these Terms of Service, except that photographs, images, films, and videos of Linden In-World Content may be used in other areas of and outside the Service as provided in our Snapshot and Machinima Policy. To be clear, and without limiting the foregoing, you may not use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display or perform any Linden In-World Content, whether modified by you or not, outside the virtual world environment of the Service except as provided in the Snapshot and Machinima Policy or as expressly agreed upon in a written agreement with Linden Lab. The foregoing license is referred to as a "Linden In-World Content License."
  13. You make a lot of assumptions that aren't true imho. I didn't come to SL to play a massively multiplayer online game and interact with anyone that just pops in. I came and I stay for other reasons entirely. Along the way, I've met people that I like, who have become my friends and that I choose to interact with. My friends and neighbors are welcome on my property. But they are not likely to drop in unannounced any more than they'd do that in RL. I like my privacy at home or in my work area for lots of reasons other than your assumptions that its sex. I know a lot of people that feel this way also. My own frequent experience is that if someone I don't know, other than a newb, drops/barges in without invitation or permission then 99% of the time they are a squatter, a griefer, rude and/or up to no good. If someone comes by and asks politely if its OK, then I'll generally say yes. If a newb stumbles in, then I take the time to explain its private and that they should not go onto private property without being invited. I may even chat with them awhile. I don't agree that you can't figure out the difference between public and private property. If there is a sign indicating its a shop or other public venue or it is in search , then its public. If there is no sign and its not in search, then I for one would assume its private property It makes no difference if its a 'home' or any other kind of build. Its still private. I also don't agree that it is up to the landowner to put up ban lines or put up with any drop-ins. Lots of estates and landlords forbid the use of ban lines or even security, but also say in their covenant that you can't wander where you please anytime you please. No one has an absolute right to go onto property that is not their own other than by invitation or because it is a public venue. Even then, the owner has a right to boot you if they want to, for any reason they feel like it. Common sense includes common courtesy. Check before you go on property that you are not familiar with, If people are there, IM them and ask them if they'd mind the company. If its private, and you didn't have the courtesy to ask, then don't be upset if you get the boot.
  14. Linden Lab will not enforce a contract if you break it and they report you. This is a matter between residents and LL does not get involved in resident disputes as long as no TOS has been broken. As far as RL, they probably wouldn't hold any water with a court and even if they did, what are they going to do? Spend hundreds of RL dollars to sue you over a few hundred linden? Don't think so. Generally these are used to emphasis to a potential employee that they want them to take the job seriously and not just part of a game. They want you to commit to showing up when your supposed to and giving them plenty of notice if you can't, so they can find a replacement. It can be hard to find employees with a good work ethic. Most will blow you off if they get a hot date without even notifying you because a SL is just a game to them.
  15. the sim you are trying to log into is probably down. Just log into another sim. If that doesn't work, reboot your computer and reset your modem and try again, But i bet its just the sim is down. There are a number of issues today with down sims.
  16. You don't say how 'new' your friend is. Accounts under 28 days old have a lower limit than older accounts. However there is a procedurel for increasing the limit: From the LindeX™ Exchange: Billing and Trading LimitsWeb Page: How to request review of your limits You may request a review of your account to increase your limits. Please visit the support system and submit a ticket. Premium account holders should select the Billing and L$ -> LindeX™ Tier Review ticket options. Basic account holders should select "Special Questions - Basic account or Guest Login" -> LindeX™ Tier Review. We'll review your request and get back to you within 5 business days.
  17. The more you pay for an ad, the higher your placement in the listing will be. If you want to be in the "top" classifieds, it will cost you a lot of L's. All you need to do is look at how much people paid for these ads and pay as much if not more. Right now to be on the first page of the overall classifieds on the web, you'll need to pay more than 80,001L. To be in the top five, more than 201,000L. That being said, no matter how much you pay, there is no guarantee you'll stay there. Anyone can come along at any time and pay more than you did for your ad, knocking you out of it.
  18. I've seen on various forums and heard people in world complain about going to store that is essentially on big room and having to stand around for a long time while things rez. Personally this drives me more nuts than navigating rooms. As other posters have said, limiting sight lines by using rooms makes for faster rezzing. In my opinion, it is not the rooms that are the problem, but the way the merchandise is laid out. If a merchant has a lot of smaller rooms and displays products in no particular order, then that is frustrating, particularly when you are there to find a specific type of item. To be laid out properly, each room should be a department with like items displayed in it. Also essential in a large store with rooms is a floor plan map at the entrance to give you an overview of the store, clear directional signs and an efficient teleport system. A well designed system eliminates the feeling of being trapped in a maze. The TP should be not only at the main entrance to take you to the departments, but in each department to take you to other departments. Smaller rooms also are good for keeping people looking. In a large hall layout, after the long rez, people stand in one place and do a quick cam around, then go. Smaller rooms keep people in your store and looking because psychologically people are drawn to see what is 'around the corner' or 'through that door'.
  19. There is already a JIRA for this and people have been voting on it. Here is an earlier post on the forums about this with a link to the existing JIRA: Previous Post on Subject
  20. It looks Egyptian to me. You may want to check out shops selling Egyptian clothing and accessories.
  21. You want to adjust your mouse sensitivity, If its set too high this happens sometimes. As far as refunds for the extra purchases, yes, you will need to contact each merchant and send them the transaction records to prove it was a multiple purchase of the same item. Its best to do this by notecard. Note that you will not get an instant reply most likely as not all merchants are available every day. It will depend on the policy of each merchant as to how they handle your request. You may want to check the store policy on refunds to see what it is. If the item is copy only, most merchants will have no problem giving your money back. If the item is transfer, at the least you will need to return the item to the seller to get your money back. If you can't do that, its highly unlikely you will receive a refund because people sometimes buy multiple copies of things to give as gifts and there is no way you can prove that you did not give the items away except by returning them to the seller.
  22. No, when you set audio or video media it applies to all the land in the same lot, as well as the space above it.
  23. Contact the seller and explain what happened and ask for a redelivery. When you contact them be sure to send the transaction informtion from your order history. Be patient waiting for a reply as not all merchants are on line every day. It will depend on their policy about this. If the item had copy/no transfer permissions then they will probably redliver it again. If the items were no copy/transfer, the merchant may not replace them as there is no way to verify if you gave it away. However some may, its worth a shot.
  24. Yes, you can change anything about your listing when ever you choose to.
  25. Prices for homes such as this vary widely from next to nothing to several thousand lindens or more. Check out the marketplace for similiar homes to get an idea of what's competative price wise. You should also look at similiar homes in world. Where this house falls in the range depends on what you are comfortable accepting for your work, the quality of the build, the originality of the design, what features it has besides the standard lockable doors, privacy windows etc.. A lot of this is subjective so by asking for opionions, you will probably get a wide variety of answers.
