  1. Be sure you are logged in and that your user name shows at the top of your screen. Then Click My Settings next to your name. You can then edit your profile. To change your picture, do that under the 'Avatar' tag. You can choose to upload a picture from your hard drive. To do that choose From Uploaded Images on the top right side under the tab. It will take you to a page where all pics you have uploaded are shown to choose from. If you have none or want to use one on your hard drive, click My Image Page then Add Images.
  2. You can make yourself appear offline to people on your friends list and elect not to have your profile show in a websearch by setting that in your profile, but that is the extent of it. People inworld will still see you if you are near them. Be aware though that If you make yourself show as offline to a friend they may be able to tell that you are doing that. Some viewers your friends may use will show them you have done that. There are also devices that are sold that will tell people you are on line no matter what you do. Some people that are your friends may get upset when you "hide" from them that way. There are even people that will drop you as a friend if you do that. So if you have good friends, you may just want to IM them and ask them not to disturb you and put yourself in busy mode rather than go off line.
  3. If you own the land as an individual, look under the World menu at the top of your viewer screen and click Owned Land. If land is in your name as owner it will show here and give you the region name & the parcel name . If you deeded the land to your group, then you can look under your group profile's Land tab for the region and parcel name. Once you have this information you can search your inventory for a landmark if you had made one, or use the map to teleport to the sim and then find the parcel. If this is residential land, once you find it and go there set you home to there. If it is commercial or investment land, be sure to take a landmark. You can rename the landmark to something you will remember such as 'my shop' , 'my rentals' etc.
  4. It depends on the viewer you use. First open the texture on your screen and make sure that window is selected. Then look for the command. What you are looking for is 'save file' 'save preview' or save file as (tga, png, etc). or some variation depending on the viewer. Sometimes it is in the file menu on (V1 based viewers) or avatar menu newer viewers. It could also be on the box that displays the texture you've opened. If you still can't find it after reading the above, post the name of the viewer and version you use for additional help. You can do this by editing your post. No need to start a new one unless this post was 'cleared' as answered.
  5. LL will not do anything unless this was mainland. If you are on a private estate contact the estate owner. They can repossess the land and then return it to your bf. Since groups don't pay tier, they should have his name as the landowner in their records. When creating a group you must send invitations out and at least one person has to accept and become a member within 48 hours. This is also true if everyone but the owner leaves a group. If he doesn't recruit new members, it is disbanded automatically.
  6. First, who does the email say its from Linden Lab or the party that sold the lindens? DId you in fact buy Lindens anywhere but on the Second Life website, or in world? Who does it claim used a stolen PayPal account or credit card? You? Are they saying that the account info you gave them to make your purchase was stolen from them by another person who used it? Or are they saying that the person you bought the linden's through used stolen account info to buy them to sell to you? When you buy linden from a third party money exchange the information has to go to LL so that the amount in your account is updated. So yes, they know how much you bought and who you bought it from. Do not under ANY circumstance "confirm' any personal information, account numbers, names or passwords over the internet because of unsolicited email. Do not go to any websites that are not official second life or LL, websites. If you buy from LL or have payment info on file, Linden Lab has the information already and so does anyone that you gave it to in order to purchase something. Such confirmations are unnecessary and almost certainly scams. When in doubt about anything concerning charges for or against your SL account or your account balance, call Billing yourself. .
  7. I've seen this before. I've seen the land tools show incorrect prim counts this way and also show that you have tons more available than you really do and a total prim count higher than the land supports. Look at the land tools objects tab, it will tell you who the owners of any prims rezzed on your land are. If nothing shows there no objects are present. No objects means no prims Sometimes when I TP from one place to another and look at my land stats, they partly or entirely show the information from my previous location. A clear cache relog usually takes care of this. If this is not the case, I'd contact an estate manager and ask for a sim restart. If that doesn't fix it, the estate owner needs to file a support ticket.
  8. This is a very bad idea. Why should someone receive for free what the rest of us pay for? This is NOT RL. You don't need to play SL to survive. I don't buy your argument that if you got free land you'd spend money in stores. Your mindset is to get free stuff. People that expect free land are not people that will pay for houses and furniture. They will go to freebie stores, or get there things through hunts or giveaways. If you don't want to pay for private land, use a free sandbox. Put your home in a rez box and just rez it out in a sandbox when you want to play house. Then when your done pick it up before you leave. There is absolutely no reason you should have the privledge of leaving it out for free. If you pay $10,000L for furniture that you lose when you are caught squatting, which could be anytime after you set it out. If you have money to throw away this way, then you can pay to rent land. Small parcels inside of large ones DO NOT prevent land from being sold. The other land can always be divided into lots around the small parcel, or the Lindens can join the parcels anytime they want to. Smaller parcels are in higher demand than mega parcels. And the biggest argument against your idea is that if you are squatting you are using server resources that should be available to the people who pay tier. Doing this at best contributes to lag, at worst it prevents paying customers from having their possesions function propertly. You are not only robbing LL, but your neighbors. If I find squatters on any land I own or manage, I return it all and ban the items owner from the land.
  9. OOO This is one of my pet peeves. I'd love to see all gadgets that talk in local chat stifled, not just flight assists. Other than spamming a product (very tacky imho), what is the point? People that use these things are polluting local chat making it more difficult to follow conversations and forcing me to see inane chatter I have no interest in. Anything these things say in local can easily be said only to the owner instead. If they are saying something others may want to hear, then it should have an off button and people that go out to public places should use it to be polite. They can then turn it on when they are in private and among people that don't mind it. I for one refuse to buy anything that spams public chat.
  10. If you truly want to have your avatar act in a unique manner, don't buy a preloaded AO. Your avi will just move like thousands of others. Buy each animation separately and only those that express 'yourself' then buy a empty HUD or get a free Zhao to put them in to use. Personally I use a Huddles that I set up with several 'sets' of animations I bought separately and choose which set to use that reflects my mood or what I'm doing. I have a set for business, once for casual socializing, a flirty set and some specialized ones for certain roleplay or avatars. All these are in one HUD that I can just click a button to tell it which set to load and play. The HUD also holds all my dances, which can also set up by musical genre or mood.
  11. You and thousands and thousands of others.......:LOL Unless you want to go into the sex trade or have some extraordinary high demand skill to offer, the only way you have a chance of making that kind of money is by creating content that sells or buying land that you can rent out to others at a good rate and keep it full. Most SL jobs involve working for tips or free clothes. Rarely do they pay like they used to. Even when they did pay a while back, making 100L an hour was a good rate. So if you have a high demand extraordinary skill, put that in your post. Otherwise you need to adjust your expectations. I wish you luck.
  12. I've had this happen with textures that I created and uploaded as a permanent texture, that the asset server subsequently loses or gets accidently deleted too. If that's the case, the creator will have to upload it again and retexture the skirt and send another one to you.
  13. Unless all the sims are connected, to my knowledge, the only way to teleport between regions or sims is using a map teleporter. All map teleporters just open the map to the programed destination and the user uses the tp button on the map to go there or put a slurl in chat to click on. There is one multi region telporter that I've seen that will work differently IF the sims all touch each other. It uses a N, S, E, or W path that you set up on a notecard telling it the direction to travel to the destination with final destination sim coordinates as the last entry in the path. You sit on a scripted ball , which i imagine receives the info from the dataserver as to how to travel. However this is not a copy/transfer commercial version tp.
  14. I finally had some time to go shopping to look at mesh clothing. And although I really didn't see anything that excited me style wise enough to buy any of it, I did try some demos on. None of them fit my avi properly Even when sizes were available they were either too small or two large. If I wanted to wear any of them I'd have to alter my shape, which I'm not going to do. I was also disappointed in the long skirts. They didn't move as gracefully as I'd hoped they would based on mesh I've seen in machinimas not made in SL, and all seemed to be made of thin foam rubber in how they did move. It was nice that they moved with my avi and no glitch pants were needed. I tried sitting in them and conventional sits were OK and better than prim skirts, but some poses made them look wierd. I will however check out pencil skirts, which I haven't gotten to yet. Hate system skirts so I'm hoping a mesh pencil skirt will be a big improvement. Also going to check out over the knee and thigh high boots which may be better in mesh. Bottom line for me is I am not going to invest much in mesh at the is point with the exception of one or two things, until the fit issue is resolved and most people use mesh enabled viewers. I also hope designs improve as clothing creators become more comfortable with mesh as the shorter dresses I saw and tried on were sorta dowdy looking on my avi.
  15. Linden Lab will not involve themselves in disputes between residents unless one of them commits a Terms of Service violation. If they do, you may file an abuse report. You should familiarize yourself with the TOS provisions regarding behavior, invasion of privacy, griefing, etc.. Griefers only want attention. Do not give it to them. Mute them and ban them from any land you have. If you see them while out and about and they try to start something, ignore them completely, no matter what they may say in public chat. If they attack your avatar in a non combat zone, AR them. TP away if you have to. If you are in a club, sometimes the host will have the authority to eject them and/or ban them if you bring it to their attention. Some venue or sim owners will also ban the person from their venue or estate if their behavior is disruptive. So you may wish to report it to them in as factual a manner as you can. You may copy and paste any public chat on a notecard to send to them but may not share private chat logs, as that is a TOS violation regardless of any disclaimers you may have in your profile about it.
  16. In addition to posting it in the land forum, you can Join a group in world for people that are buying and selling sims and send a notice in the group. Join the whole sim together as one lot and put it for 'sale' for the price you want plus the transfer fee. Put in the description of the land that the sale is a full estate transfer.
  17. Go to the Intan Eksotics website. They have all the dances are already configured on notecards that you need only drop into the Intan. The notecards are sorted by the brand name of the dance. Even if you don't have all the animations on the card you can still use it without making any changes to it. If your dances are new an not listed on the notecard then you can contact the creator and she will add the dance or make a new notecard if required. If you don't already have one, you must register for an account on the website at the in world Intan Eksotics shop so that the notecards you need can be delivered directly to your avatar in world.
  18. I agree that it will be a while before mesh clothing is widely adapted. Not only for the above reasons, but if you wear mesh people without mesh viewers can't see your clothes. Not everyone can afford to upgrade their machine to run mesh viewers. Of course, eventually, with enough time the majority of people will run them. It just remains to be seen what improvements will be made to mesh by that time to make it more flexible in fitting the wide variety of avatars in SL without them having to alter their shape. Until that time mesh will only slowly integrate into most peoples wardrobes, in my opinion, and tradtionally constructed clothing will still be worn either entirely or mixed with mesh. It may even be that people continue to prefer traditional clothing for certain outfits or pieces of clothing.
  19. First, check your marketplace transaction history to be sure its showing as delivered. It sometimes takes up to 8 hours. If it isn't delivered you will automatically receive a refund. If it was delivered, clear your cache and relog then look in your objects folder for a box with he name of the product. If you still can't find it you have two choices. File a support ticket or contact the creator. If you elect to contact he creator its best to do so by notecard in world and past the transaction information on the notecard. Most merchants will be most cooperative in redelivering under the circumstances. You must be patient as tickets take time to work and merchants are not always logged in every day. You will probably not be able to receive a refund unless the merchant has a refund policy and the item is transfer and you can return it. Note that most delivery problems are NOT the merchants fault but due to the website or the sim where the magic box is located is not functioning.
  20. There is. However estate owner may freeze the cycle at any particular period of the cycle so that it is perpetually day or night or sunset or sunrise. It also could be that you have used the environment tools to freeze it for yourself and forgot to unfreeze or froze it inadvertently. Go to the world menu and environment settings and click on Revert to region default see if this is the problem.
  21. New sims from LL can come with limited access. The estate owner has to go to the region tools and set the access to allow others to come on the sim. Setting it up in land tools only doesn't work as the settings in the region tools always override the land tools.
  22. You must currently own a full sim in order to purchase a homestead. No exceptions. Sorry. This is something a lot of people would love to see change.
  23. That's a great show! Nice to see POSITIVE media attention on SL. It really showed how SL is way more than a game and has such a huge potential to make a big impact in peoples lives. Thanks so much for posting it.
  24. You may need to clear your cache and relog, then reload your inventory. Things have a way of showing up after you do that.
  25. A sim on the mainland IS 195US a month. However you do not get estate rights. You buy the land only and the lindens still own the estate. Private islands are 295US a month with full estate rights. If you buy a sim on the secondary market, even if its grandfathered, starting this year the tier goes to the current level of 295US. However if the sim stays with the owner and they owned it when it was grandfathered they still pay the 195US a month.
