  1. It's not going to happen. Because it already has. A couple years ago Linden lab asked for beta testers for some new phone app they wanted to try. I was on the beta test and I figure since it's been a couple years I can talk about it now (it was all non-disclosure at the time). And full disclosure: I haven't read this thread, so apologies if any of this has been mentioned already. It was horrible. The way it worked was that the SL world was actually created through a proxy then streamed to your phone. It was sluggish and laggy - not the world itself, but the interaction through the phone. But here's why it really failed: take the entire viewer interface that you see on your PC or Mac, and shrink it down to the size of a phone screen. That's what you got. It was near impossible o interact with, buttons and menus were so tiny they were hard to read and don't get me started on anything HUD. There are some good text-based clients for SL (on iPhone, at least) - very functional and allows you to do just about anything, except you don't see a 3D world. Better to look into something like that. Edit to add: OH, I just realized @CoffeeDujour is mentioning the very app I was talking about! LOL ~facepalms~
  2. Yup, I have that one, too. But it's a pig-in-a-poke; it's over-complicated. Though I know you are simply hoping to contribute, and it's a good contribution: an RLV Outfit Manager. Don't get me wrong, it's excellent (and old, so now the price is down to like L$600, down from the original L$6k when it first appeared) - but it has a ridiculous learning curve - not in how to use it, but rather in how to set it up properly. It's great if you're an SL tech-head (been here long enough to build stuff and generally know all the SL tricks that it takes a few years to learn). The one I mentioned is easy to use and set up. If you use the viewer Outfits Picker - all you need do is copy all the links from an outfit folder into the RLV outfit folder, done. It also doesn't require anything to be rezzed in the world, either and neither does it rely on an outside website and database (read about how Creators using Hippo got burned, and then there's the TMP Mesh Body fiasco, etc). But I digress.
  3. The one I wear most often is "Self-Important Title"
  4. The latest I've read is that Mojave will continue to support OpenGL and CL (and 32 Bit apps), though will be the last macOS to do so. It's possible any crashing of SL Viewer on the beta version of it isn't related to the Open GL aspect itself (it is just this side of Alpha, after all). I'm willing to bet that Linden Lab (and other devs) will still have at least a year to find whatever solution there is (including abandoning the macOS). Apple has always been controversial with their chopping block, for example: eliminating floppy drives (now the industry has followed), dropping OEM support for Flash (now all but dead, save for Adobe's pathetic attempt to hang onto it), etc. The biggest difference between the Microsoft and Apple paradigms are basically that Microsoft tries hard to keep everything backward-compatible forever and Apple tends to cut the cord and move forward at an uncomfortable rate. Both approaches have their pros and cons, I suppose. I'm sure LL will find a solution, whatever it is.
  5. Thank you, I concur. Back to the topic: as Grumpity Linden states: stay away from the beta versions for now if you plan to run SL on that machine (since most of us don't have or cannot afford a separate "test machine"). I'm sure LL is working on a plan and will come up with a solution of some sort. Hopefully before the final version of the new OS ships because there will be many Mac users unaware of this scenario, forum-thread, etc.
  6. @Monti Messmer I concur. "ports" are never the same as "native". I suppose like most other upcoming features and whizbang stuffs LL plans we'll just have to take the ol' wait-and-see approach. @Klytyna [/me rolls eyes] You know what: all diatribe like this is really moot. Windows is a good OS. macOS is a good OS, they each have their own pros and cons. I've discovered that when people choose to debate the merits of one over the other and take sides, it's often because they've used one and not the other - and I don't mean dabbling, I mean actually used them in a productivity sense, hence they are often misinformed. And if I didn't make it clear enough for you in my previous post: I was speaking for myself and stand by it: my PC is only useful for gaming. I do all my real work on my 5k Mac - because it's easier, faster, less expensive (yes, really: it is) and a lot more pleasurable to do so. Your mileage may vary, of course. (And I've been computing since the Timex Sinclaire and Vic-20, you? Rhetorical question, nevermind.)
  7. I'm sure Linden Lab will end up implementing Metal into the viewer, which is probably a good thing as far as Mac viewer is concerned (when bits of code is cross-platform, devs tend to just 'port' code over, making that code a Jack of all and master of none). Implementing Meta would definitely improve performance on Macs. I am fortunate that I have both: PC and Mac. My personal approach (seriously) is: Mac is for real work, PC is only useful for games (including SL). @germ0742 - comments like yours are typical uninformed nonsense. "God" tools? Maybe. Pick your project - you do it on a PC and I'll do it on a Mac. I'm willing to bet real world money I'll finish in half the time you do and have a lot more pleasure doing it. If you want to word-process or do spreadsheet accounting then PC is your tool. If you want to do media, well... ~Snickers~
  8. This is actually pretty simple-simon stuff, no Photoshop required. For anyone interested ($60) https://www.on1.com/products/effects/ It's the best-kept secret of photographers (RL and SL) the world over. (Well, Photo RAW is, but I digress)
  9. Your answer is here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/EF-3-Mesh-Outfitter/9924463 Relatively easy to set-up with a short learning curve and amazingly flexible.
  10. It's mostly that your are still using the old shortcut, etc - but for SIMPLIFICATION - here is the "sure fire" fix it: If you use a MAC: Delete the Second Life Viewer, empty trash. If you use Windows - delete the desktop shortcut to Second Life viewer (and also from shortcut bar if it's pinned there) - empty trash. Go to Second Life web site and download a fresh Viewer installer file - Mac version is always 64 bit. If you use Windows then get the correct version: 64 bit version if you have Windows 10. After download - install the viewer afresh. The only caveat to this "method" is that you will have to redo many of your settings (like graphic setting, etc).
  11. I always like to answer these IMs. My typical answer to this one has always been: "Absolutely. Send me a 5000L$ security deposit and I'll have your 100L$ loan ready in a jiffy!" "IR GR8, HRU?" "Thanks, but not the *MOST* beautiful, huh? I am epic fail, then." (Usually leads to some fun, generally innocent conversation from there) "Are you presuming I'm not already having fun?" "Let me check my profile so I can give you an accurate age" "I like to dance, fly, swim, sail... but how do you *do* voice?" "Easy: you jump on some furniture and do naughty things, looking like a fool and I'll bring friends to watch and laugh as you do it." I actually got BOTH of these! LOL To the first one I replied "Is there a reason I wouldn't be?" And the second one I laughed (I was on my boat "tanning" at the time) - So I replied, "Well, your helicopter is blocking my sun!" - then I told him how funny his line was and it was actually a nice, albeit short, conversation from there.
  12. I apologize if my point wasn't clearly stated: The OP made the partner part of the contract, so the failure isn't on the part of the creator, it's on the part of the client. THIS. Perfectly-stated and the way it often works even in RL.
  13. Your business partner had no reason to be part of it at all; you paid for it then you should have received it in full perms. Then you can pass it to your business partner, etc. Wait, you paid for them BEFORE they were delivered to YOU? These are the two fatal flaws of your interaction with work-for-hire. Live and learn.
  14. Yes, premium tiers are here also (so free 1024 if not already used). I know this area, I had 2048 m2 at the south border of the sim to the north - this is a great, clean, quiet area with very VERY little visual pollution (if any at all). I've actually been keeping my eye on these sims with the consideration of moving back there.
  15. I R GR8, How RU, 2? ((That's my usual response.))
  16. It would be an ACCOUNT issue. And some of the Lindens do read the forums, though it should never be thought of as a means to communicate with them (other than responding to anything they may post).
  17. I don't use it, but amazed a lot of people still use Imagur when far better replacements are available like JumpShare and CloudApp. ~snorts~
  18. Search Market Place for any AO that is Fae or Faerie-related. Those are usually some version of floating (rather than walking) on the ground.
  19. This is very true. Though the Supreme Court has also determined "freedom of association" to be part of the First Amendment (Boys Scouts vs LGBT (paraphrased)). Taking this into consideration, the first part of the "racist" statement says this person has been "called" these things and takes pride in being called such, but doesn't go as far as to proclaim they are actually that, the end part of the statement falls under this aspect of the first amendment. But now we are just splitting hairs for the sake of splitting hairs. To which I think the following applies: You go, girl! SHOOT 'EM ALL AND LET LL SORT 'EM OUT! Hahahaha
  20. It was just an example and you make my point (and mainframe punch machines were built to order. hey: Discovery Channel can be your friend LOL): do you look at the profile of every creator you purchase from? I'm not saying you should or shouldn't, just saying that people who buy this person's stuff don't know any better for worse or wear.
  21. This. In the U.S. (which is where LL is and, presumably this person is) the First Amendment to the Constitution affords the Freedom of Speech. That also means as much as we dislike what other's say or are offended by it is when that amendment comes into full force. I generally take the side of most people here in denouncing all this. However, let us also be realists here: There is no actual racism being expressed unless you insert it by innuendo Proclaiming to be part of a group only indicates your support of that groups ideals, whether you share them or not Calling together one particular ethnic group is not attacking another And furthermore, it appears to be some kind of poem. I'm not making excuses or intending to defend this person, I am saying that in the U.S. what this person plops into their profile is protected speech (in the United Staes, at least) and is likely intended to get very discussions, such as this one, rolling (Well, actually intended to offend, but there is no TOS or other laws in any respectable country that give you the "freedom from being offended"). In short, this person appears to just be a troll. As for deleting what I purchased? That's is context-based - what it actually is and such, though would likely never buy from them again. Here's an example: Have you ever owned anything created by IBM, ever? Did you know they produced the machines that helped the Nazi's manage their extermination efforts during the Holocaust? Just saying, folks.
  22. In Firestorm: WORLD menu->ENVIRONMENT EDITOR->DAY PRESETS-> NEW PRESET However, when you create this it will only work for you unless you share the Preset files with others (via web download - cannot do it inside SL until the new EEP comes available as that is supposed to be one of the new features also)
  23. Ahah, I misunderstood. I thought the issue was listing in viewer, which got me into the "in viewer" mode of thinking. Thanks for clarifying!
  24. Always test with the official LL viewer when all else fails. Then if you get the same (undesired) results in the LL viewer, you can contact support. If you do not have the official LL viewer installed, even if you are a Firestorm (or another viewer) die-hard, then U R Doing it RONG.
  25. Unless the alleged slanderer is revealing RL information then what's the big deal? I believe any reasonable person will feel as I do when I see comments like those you complain of in someone else's profile: "Oh, this person is a drama-queen and has real issues and surely the reason they have for hating this person they mention was instigated or created by themselves." I see this type of comments every now and again in people's profiles. I usually roll my eyes and laugh. The people who feel the need to "warn others" are usually the trouble-makers or have personal issues. The only possible way that slander (or malice, in general) can possibly happen in SL is when RL information of any kind is shared and that's against TOS and, in some cases, can be a bannable offense. Ans now that I've made my own thoughts on the subject known, you can imagine my thoughts on a very thread such as this. ~snorts~
