  1. Amazing how you're "buying 300US..." turned into "buying 500US" in a single thread. Looks a lot like overemphasizing to make your molehill seem like a bigger mountain than it really is. The way real silent auctions work is simple: You the pay the money of your bid into the pot through escrow. If you are outbid then your money is refunded. /me breaks out double-sized super-duty micro-violin and starts jamming "B.S. Exaggeration!" Which sounds a lot like the Rolling Stones tune "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction".
  2. /me finishes the violin tune "Entitlement Boo-Hoo for the Snowflakes" and begins on "The best way to show a fool is to shut-up and let them speak" in a C-Flat arrangement.
  3. Paragraphs are your friend. It is absolutely an okay change. You raise your voice in rant rather than make your case. Cest la Vie. /me breaks out micro-violin and begins playing "Entitlement Boo-Hoo for the Snowflakes".
  4. See below. See above. I recently switched to Catznip from Firestorm myself and I am so loving it: everything is rezzing twice as fast, the indicator light of CPU load isn't giving the colors Firestorm did, and the extra features it does have are ten times more useful to me (and most users, I imagine) than most of the Firestorm features (because they actually make *using SL* easier.). That's MY OWN impression of Catznip compared to Firestorm. I've looked ar Singularity, but I get the impression development has been abandoned (though I could be wrong about that).
  5. UM, it's BETA and it's an EARLY beta. @Diva Barcelos : Even if it's a new MacBook, you *chose* to install Mojave beta onto it. Which you should only ever install on a test system, never, EVER your working (real-life every day) system. You need to go back to High Sierra version of macOS, then wait until Mojave Release Candidate and Golden Master are released before trying any viewer on it. SL Viewers almost always never work on early betas. EVER. people have reported this since macOS Tiger (like 5 generations ago). And I have no doubt that Linden Lab is currently, or very shortly will be testing their viewer on Mojave and making whatever necessary updates to it so it will work just fine when that version of macOS is officially released (likely before that, actually).
  6. The "Duck Face" was in reference to so many heads in general, especially Catwa - not in reference to the OP or anyone specifically.
  7. I believe *most* mesh heads in SL are good quality work, even the L$500 Utilizator Normie head. It just comes down to what you're looking for - in the general face (duck-face included LOL) and then the 'features" in terms of animations, customizability, etc. I do concur: the shopping (a.k.a. hunt) is definitely a large part of the fun.
  8. Sheesh, I have so many: Catwa (three), LOGO (my first), even the inexpensive Utilizator Normie head. As for Genesis Lab: they always sucked, feature-wise and regarding consistency and quality. However, The new Genesis Lab Bento heads are great and, the way I see it, offer the most flexibility during purchase, though they aren't;t cheap. I mention this because it was a learning process for me and I think it would be helpful for any shopper to know: With Genesis Lab, you need to shop in-world; their Market Place is abysmal. Grab a demo of every head (and they come BLANK; no skin) Grab a demo of each skin (this will be your initial starting face) Take these demos and follow this process: Wear the first demo head, apply the same shade color of each face (skin) to it - take a MUG shot and profile to compare (save to disk, obviously) Wear the second head, Apply the same shade color of each face (skin) to it... Rinse and repeat! With this process, you can get the perfect look before you even buy (or decide it's not for you) - then tweak it to make it "you". The head is L$4,000. the Face (skin) is L$500, and the mesh body appliers are L$200. So, on-par with the cost of a Catwa, though far more variety in faces (it's amazing how those skins can change the look of the head, I suspect it also uses depth-maps to help with that. AND because of this: you will be limited to the skins compatible (which are mostly at GL shop). As for Catwa, I am so tired of the Duck-Face look they all have, except for the new Steffi head, which seems to me to be a badly-needed departure for Catwa. Just my own thought on it. Oh, and my Profile picture is with the Genesis "Lena" head with the "Fei" face in "Milk" shade. And I am loving it!
  9. Decisions, decisions. And men wonder why women change clothes so often!
  10. This has always happened, since 2006 and before. As stated below, you need to reconnoiter the entire coastline before committing. Definitely this. When land-hunting to buy or rent, always trace the coastline on the world map, look for any blockages next to void areas (classic example: look at the southwest corner of Blake Sea: https://jumpshare.com/v/PUG66JoASsWXyP49x3s9 Yet, a lot of people buy land south of that impassable area thinking they have sailing access to the Blake Sea. Ummm, not so much. This. So much this.
  11. Like @Cindy Evanier mentioned, there is Firestorm (which I've used for years), though there also is Catznip (which I recently switched to and LOVE.) It is lightweight like the LL Viewer and (for me) rezzes everything considerably faster than LL viewer or Firestorm. Catznip doesn't have all the spy on others/hide from others features, but it does have amazing inventory-management features that all the others badly need. Anyway, the Firestorm link is above, the Catznip link is here: https://get.catznip.com/downloads Here's a video that shows what I'm talking about:
  12. The "best" setting are those you like the most. For myself, I find the default angle (up-and-down) to be just fine, though I also prefer to be a little farther (distance) back so I can always see my feet (to be sure I'm wearing shoes, etc.). The best thing to do is to experiment with the sliders until you have it where you like it. Beyond that, it's difficult to help better as your initial post is a bit too ambiguous without any detail about your difficulty.
  13. @Yasuhiroi - your angst is obvious, and intellect or lack thereof is amazing. I back-paddle from nothing and stand by every single word I've ever written in these forums and neither do I so easily resort to name-calling or petty accusations. Linden Lab gave everyone great discounts on land-use fees only a month or so ago and you want more. The simple fact is that you present the purview of an entitlement-minded little snowflake. Your reply is the kettle calling the pot black, and if it looks and smells like dog feces, it must be dog feces. PRO TIP: Life isn't fair. No one, including Linden Lab, owes you anything. As they say: "pay-up or shut-up." You have my permission to take the last word on it against me (because you will, as you cannot resist it.)
  14. Itashi mash-ite! (Sorry for the hyphen, these forums dunnaknow Nihongo, so it flags that middle part. Bahahaha!
  15. I see what you did there. Bish. (You DO know I love you, right? Hahaha!)
  16. You *DO* know those figures were an intentional joke, right? ~Snorts~ The point is that all prices of anything are fair when the perceived value matches. In other words: the word "fair" is a single-word oxymoron. What's "fair" to me, may not be to you.
  17. Hey, the regular price is an annual premium subscription is $144, but they discount it 50%! For the three month subscription, it's usually $124 and it's deeply discounted, too! So what are you asking about, again? //sarcastic-response FACT: They could just proclaim any price and state that the existing price is a discount. Price does not matter. What matters is your perceived value of the service for the asking price. Apparently, for you (OP) it's not there, yet. Though they are saying they are intended to add additional value to premium subscriptions. We'll just have to wait and see.
  18. That is a really good idea. WAY back when all there was was the old SLX website (and almost no one used it) I had a gadget that would sell a "redemption voucher" that was no=copy/no-modify. That way you could give it as a gift to anyone. Then you just rez it and it delivered that actual no-transfer box from an in-world server and then it put hover text over the redeemer that said "Redeemed by {name of person) - which also acted as proof of purchase. I loved that system, though not much need for it now - though in a scenario like this it could be useful.
  19. It depends how it's made. This one puts a 5 second "wait" between attempts.
  20. This is because they don't understand what "exclusive" is supposed to mean and how it's done in RL. If they plop it into their store after the event then it is not "exclusive". Becuase something that is technically "exclusive" then made non-exclusive really wasn't exclusive in th first place. But, I digress: SL will always be SL. LOL
  21. This issue has been happing for the last few years with OBJECTS. However, if you check non-objects (scripts, notecards, etc) the Creator always shows. Since *most* things you acquire come in a folder that often includes a notecard or other things besides objects: get info on one of those other things instead. It's almost always the same creator of the objects (or seller, whatever).
  22. It would be helpful if you gave a little more information, like: What time (in SL time) do you usually login? What is the sim name (or venue) that you usually hang out in? What are your general interests (keep anything religious or political to yourself - that's the fastest way to make enemies LOL) I'll give you this about me: I am usually in-world Fridays through Mondays. I often login between 4 A.M. and 6 A.M. SL Time (even though I am in the West coast of the U.S.) - U often hang out for a large chunk of the day (logging out between noon and sometimes as late as 3 or 4 P.M. SL time). I like to sim-hop a LOT. I go to all kinds of places: G, PG, NAUGHTY, but pretty much to people-watch, because I like doing that. I also love to go sailing and flying all the time, too. Amusement parks and automated tours can fun, also. I don't "hide" my online status (which is kind of silly because it's too easy to see if you're online or not) - so my profile always shows when I'm in-world. So, there you go.
  23. OR just tick the "Copy" filter then "Refine search" button and get double-bonus: No more Gatcha junk AND no-copy stuff. I, myself - of course, never buy no-copy stuff if I can help it. Evar! LOL
  24. It's a rant in sarcasm. You know, like this: Mesh Creator Best Practices: Always ensure your items are no-copy and no-modify. Always charge a minimum of L$2400 for FatPacks. Always put a 2-minute time-limit on your demo items Never, EVER offer a demo, stupid people will buy it anyway. Ensure you have an LLDie script in all versions so it POOFS if rezzed. Never use a color-change HUD, but rather include an object for each of your 60 different colors for maximum annoyance of customers. Always flag each and every review in an attempt to have it removed. Always insta-delete (Decline) notecards dropped to you. Never reply to offline IMs. Always set online status to BUSY. See how that works? LOL
