  1. If it's a private region then download the baked geometry into a TIFF file, rotate the TIFF file, then re-upload the TIFF file to redo the region geometry. All-in-all about 5 minutes work. For those who own a private region: you know what I'm talking about. For those who don't and don't, it's a moot point. @Sciffer Mortenwold - if you rent these regions then ask the estate owner to do this for you.
  2. Then there's this creator who has been doing this stuff for years: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/124513
  3. FYI: Updated info: https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/premium-membership-r346/#Section__3_2_1 Which includes this information about grandfathered Stipends: Stipends for old accounts The stipend amount for older accounts depends on what type of account you have and its age. Premium accounts created or upgraded from basic: On or after November 1, 2006 receive L$300 per week. Between July 21, 2006 and November 1, 2006 receive L$400 per week. Before July 21, 2006 receive L$500 per week. Certain old basic accounts get a stipend; basic accounts created Before June 6, 2006 receive a stipend of L$50 per week, if they log in that week. After June 6, 2006 do not receive a weekly stipend. *** As for the OP Question: If OP get a pure (basic or premium) 50L/week stipend, what happens if they upgrade to premium: Do they get the 300L + 50L? DO they only get the 300L and NOT the original 50L (they lose 50L) I do believe that is the question at hand. Or is that already answered? LOL
  4. I'm willing to bet your friend is misremembering which account is which. THAT, or there is a glitch in my account that is grandfathering my stipend. I signed-up to SL literally the day they dropped from 500L$ to 400L$ (the web page still said 500L$) - I even put in a ticket to complain. I'll not bother with the canned status-quo answer I got. LOL BUT, in any case, I re-upped this account back to Premium and I am back to my 400L$/week right now. ~Does happy dance~ (I know: 100L$ is pffft, but still...)
  5. I am grandfathered at 400L$ a week. That's what it was back on '06 when I first signed up. I kept premium for a few years then downgraded back to basic to have an alt take over (after it switched to 300L$/week). Only a few weeks ago I had decided to put this account back on Premium and expected the current 300L$/week. To my surprise: I received my old amount of 400L$ a week and still do. Apparently, whatever your stipend was when you *signed up* is what you will get, even after downgrading to basic and waiting several years to return back to Premium. So the question is: if your stipend was 50L$ a week, will it (at least) be raised to the current 300L$? It sounds like time for a support ticket to find out (which is better than just experimenting.) EDIT: OH! I misread OP - I didn't realize it's a lifetime stipend! Yes, definitely do the alt thing! LOL
  6. I know you're asking about avatars, so I'm going to say SLOW DOWN, THERE. Let's take a short, simple detour first, okay? My personal recommendation: Explore. Meet people. Find the nice ones, find the friendly ones, find the helpful ones. If you're itching to change your look, try another Free Linden-Provided Avatar - there is a large variety now. Window-shop as you go, but don't buy anything just yet. Get to know how to move around the world. Learn how to find things; in a dancing mood? Learn how to search for dance clubs, for example. Play with editing your shape. A lot. It's freebie LL avatar so no worries about breaking anything. Learn the system. Do not lay a lot of weight to other people's suggestions if it relates to *buying* anything - especially a body, head, clothes. There, after you've spent a few weeks just learning this stuff, you'll feel a lot more comfortable about things and no, it won;t actually take three weeks. As you meet people you'll learn the ethics, etiquette, and general customs and traditions of SL; the "SL Culture". Thos you find most helpful will be your guide. They are the ones to trust more than just anyone. Ask them questions, be curious, most people in SL want to help. Also, understand SL has a real economy, Linden Dollars (L$) is real money - never give it away and your best bet to get some is to just buy it through the exchange. The silliness of finding an "SL" job is a waste of time (you'll spend more money on RL electricity running your computer and Internet than you can earn in L$ per hour). I could write a novel about all of this, so let's just keep it short and simple: SLOW DOWN, smell the flowers as you walk by, take the time to enjoy the world through the eyes of a "newbie" because if you ask anyone in SL: most will tell you that was the absolute best time in SL: Discovery.
  7. Ugh - got suckered into a necro'd thread. -DELETED-
  8. Wow. Not sure where your shopping or what you're shopping for, but either way it sounds like a personal issue.*Smart* shoppers interested in anything costing more than L$25-L$100 will not buy it unless they can demo it/see it in world. As for being able to gift demos: important. I'm logged into MP on one account and see something my alt may like. Easier to just gift that demo to my alt, rather than logout, login, search for that demo all over again, buy the demo, logout, login back into the first account, continue shopping. There. Can you now see how closed-minded you are? That because you don't do something a certain way you cannot fathom another way it can be done that is useful, therefore you are correct then the rest of the world is wrong? It's okay if you do not see that about yourself; everyone else does.
  9. Gifting is the reason for it. I also concur that the word "free" shouldn't be used."Complimentary" would be more appropriate, I think. Heck, even "Almost free!" would be better! LOL
  10. If it's a head do it. You could look AMAZINGLY metro. Acus GLAM is wham!
  11. 10 minutes MINIMUM. I have a friend who sells a couple time-limited demo boats and his clock is set to 30 Minutes. He gets it. I mean there's a gigantic "THIS IS A DEMO" sign stuck to it LOL. The *worst* are clothing time-limited demos. 5 minutes, seriously? I want at least 15 minutes because what you, dear creator, may not be aware of is that I have three or four different outfits of yours I want to demo and plan to purchase only one or two - so I will compare them, wear each over and over again. Then there's the texture-rezzing time. I've actually had demos EXPIRE *before* the textures fully rezzed. Time-limited demos should be for rezzables only and even then I think a minimum of 10 minutes should be offered. Time-limited demos for clothing!? Seriously!? Are you THAT paranoid?
  12. If I hold an event and send one penny ($0.01) out of every $1000 I make I can legally say "Portion of proceeds go to charity." This, along with all the other cheating, hoodwinking, fraud, and all the rest that happens so often in SL: most people are very wary. SO, if you want to set it up, be legitimate, AND show people that you put your money where your mouth is, then do it this way: The tip jar does not take any money, but rather that Tip Jar opens a web browser to the very donation page of the official website of your chosen charity. THAT will impress people.
  13. Yes, exactly and my entire comment, in its entirety, still applies and is still accurate. So I'm not sure what your point is? There are still licensing fees that are supposed to be paid, if not "public display" as RL DJs must, then as "rebroadcast" as radio stations and *streaming systems* do. The *question* that was asked by the OP is *who* is responsible to pay these: Answer: if your DJ or Streamer (hey, if they don't voice while they DJ they are NOT a DJ, folks) is your employee, officially of your club then the owner of the club is responsible. If the DL freelances and goes to other clubs and venues, then it is a contract for hire and so the DJ is responsible. /me chuckles.
  14. Different countries have different laws. In the U.S. it's pretty simple: if the DJ is officially part of your club; an "employee" then you, the club owner, are responsible for any and all licensing. If the DJ is a freelancer and on-hire, then they are a contractor or subcontractor, and therefore they are responsible for all licensing and fees. Oh, and as for which laws apply? I believe it would be the laws that apply to the DJ typist and where they are located; where are the running their SL Viewer.
  15. https://secondlife.com/destinations You're welcome.
  16. Though it is true that you don't have many limitations, there are a lot more things that come with premium than stated by Syo and they may be of interest to you, but not now. Do as the others have suggested - take your time, explore, meet people, make friends. Now, that doesn't mean to ask everyone to "be your friend" from the menus - but rather get to know people, it's pretty easy to do. There also are a lot of things to do in SL, swimming, sailing, flying, amusement parks, etc. And sure, it may sound eye-rollingly-funny to imagine a cartoon character on your screen dancing or sailing, but it really is fun to do, even though you're stuck behind your keyboard Definitely, use the "Destinations" guide inside your viewer. And if that's not enough, I'll overwhelm you with this: Ready? Sure? Sure you're sure? Okay, here it is: https://secondlife.com/destinations Now you should be able to find just about anything that piques your interest.
  17. Thanks! This is good to know. Perhaps it happens when staying in the same sim / location for too long. Things that make you go hmm. Well - I *do* know that what you see is only what &you& see, others often may not see it. Though Whirly Fizzle seems to have found the real answer! oooOOOooo Thanks for this! Spaghetti code is just so spaghetti!
  18. @RavynHunterDefinitely, do a clean install. They even "strongly recommend it". And they also mention that this is a *major* update, so I'm not surprised you may be experiencing difficulties. Note: I am not in any official capacity related to Firestorm, just an experienced user. So if this doesn't work you may want to contact their support people. It's important to note that to do a "clean install" of Firestorm, you need to do some manually uninstalling part of it. Here are the Firestorm "Clean Install" instructions: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_install
  19. I've had that issue also.... long time ago. I think the only way I fixed it was a fresh install of the viewer - it's not just cache, but also how fragmented stuff gets over time. Maybe try that - disk tools and optimize the disk?
  20. Only you see this. I'll presume you're using Firestorm, which has some kind of memory leak and things slow-down and eventually just stop working over time until you have to relog. That's my theory, anyway (that's it's a memory leak, it really does slow to a crawl over time).
  21. You can buy Abandoned: Either wait for it to appear in Land Auctions or put in a ticket requesting to buy it.
  22. Yes, yes, I know exactly what you mean. I want to add: that is a REALLY nice skin. I see a lot of "extra-dark" skins (my own description) and they are simply not done right. In anything other than "optimized skin and prim" windlight setting they turn into silhouettes. Your picture appears to be a dark environment, yet the color and detail are still amazingly clear. Awesome choice, you! *HI-5's*
  23. You can pay with L$. Go to your web dashoard and SELL L$ - you need to sell enough to earn that cash amount to cover the cost (e.g. $72 annual) Once you have the $ U.S. credit, you can now buy (upgrade to) Premium. Select your payment method (PayPal, Visa, whatever) When the charge/order page appears, on the left side is the option "Use Credit" and "Do not use credit" - be sure "Use Credit" is selected and the price being charged will say $0.00 TADA!
  24. Open world map. Turn on "Land For Sale" checkbox. Land for sale turns yellow. Inside each yellow block is a price tag icon click price tag to see size and cost to buy. /// Open search, go to Land Sales tab.
  25. I concur with this. I imagine the lower tier prmeium will include the basics, like 512m2 LL Home, access to the premium zones (sandboxes and experiences) maybe a 150L stipend, basically "consuming" type stuff. Current becoming the middle tier - all features and benefits remain in-tact. Top tier being what we have now plus some new features we can only imagine - stuff I would think would be of interest to creators and business owners that most in SL wouldn;t care about much for themselves.
