  1. They already have: it's called HORIZONS. Exactly what you are describing, OP.
  2. Oh YES! Hahaha. I think this started this way: an OP was asking about the Relinker script permissions and how to say yes to them (a commercial linker/relinker script that sells for like 350L$. Others mentioned they'd never heard of the script, others said what it was, others balked at the very idea. That's when I said, OH, but you can do this manually! And as is status quo I didn't even get it right hahaha! HOWEVER: Now it is here for posterity and also as a little something the pro-scripters and builders, such as yourself, will now know. Right? Say "YES!" so I can feel good about being able to share something that is, at least, semi-useful.
  3. No, no - it's fine; press me! :0 I will look for the original instructions notecard I have when I am in world next - a creator sent it out a while ago when they gave their customers an add-on gift. And ever since I learned that 'trick" it's usually worked for me with other stuff even from other creators. I'll be sure to post an update when I dig it up! Because I will be first to admit OMG I R RONG! UPDATE: I found the notecard where I learned this from. Apparently I missed a step hahaha. here it is (with proper credit, of course) +++++ As I've said - it doesn't always work - and it will surely depend on how the scripter worked their scripts. Perhaps it could be they used the same method you do with object names, rather than relying on numbers, I don't know as these instructions for hacking something you own, but not the creator of.
  4. Yes, In my example of adding say a hood ornament to a car: Rez the car, rez the ornament - position the ornament where you want it. Edit the car, unlink the root - you should now have the ornament, linkset and old root. Select ornament, then linkset, then (old root - so it becomes root again) - link. ********** Now for everyone experimenting, I *did* say it doesn't always work. It has worked about 95% of the time for myself - but I also don't do this every day and part of that may also be in how the scripter scripted the original linkset. LOL. @Innula Zenovka to which I concur with the method you describe. I am not a high-end scripter, though I can manage some ambitious projects. I have known about how linkeset numbers can change when adding to an existing linkset, etc. I've already tried to name all parts for the reason you describe (whether I'll need that or not). Mostly because I just find the name "Object" annoying hahaha! EDIT to add: I didn't realize you have posted a step-by step, I may be misremembering the order of selection (SL is always such an adventure, right?): after unlinking the root, try it the other way around - select linkset, then add-on object, then root before linking. I admit it's been a couple months since I did this last.
  5. If you set your mind to an "available" date of December 31, 2018 you'll be closer to the mark than not and also not agonize in anticipation for this feature. I'm only being half-sarcastic here. It really will be very late in the year before this becomes a real deal, the good news is that LL has committed to it becoming a real deal. As for the costs: I'm willing the bet real money the price will be between $5 and $10 U.S. - because they've already said they want people to use the feature and the cost is primarily to prevent abuse. I'm even going to pin my bet on $5 U.S. per name-change. LL isn't stupid. They think these things through carefully and know the backlash they'd get if they tried to charge too much, yet they want to be sure the surcharge does what it is intended to do. $5 seems reasonable to me. One thing they *could* decide to do, though I am doubtful right now, is to make it a Premium-only feature. Or perhaps some other value-add, like "one free name-change per month for Premium accounts" or whatever. LL never lets the full cat out of the bag when they design this stuff, so (hopefully) there will be some pleasant surprises. Though there still will be the shrill screams about something being "UNFAIR!!!!!11!" Hhahahaha
  6. This. Real example: I have me a nice sailboat = 115 objects (prims/mesh) - lots of tiny bits like lights and gauges, etc. AND: I am not the creator (but it is modify). So now I want to add something to my boat. By unlinking the root prim the rest remain intact. Now by selecting the items in that order and relinking - the original stuff should maintain the same link order with the add-on being just that: added-on.
  7. But wait... to some people you are 1% - so why should your suggested changes allow YOU to upgrade tier in your budget, but not those people? I reiterate that you center the world around your point of view. The tier breaks are just fine the way they are. As for tier pricing, well, LL has already addressed that, now haven't they? As for people's budgets, all are different. I've owned up to four private sims and two entire mainland sims *simultaneously* at one point. Because all these tiers and land fees fit within my budget just fine. My budget matters only to me, not you, right? Well, turn that table and what do you get? Your suggestion (read: self-serving idea) only serves to benefit you and others in the same budget levels as you. So I say again, what about all those people whose budgets are not as large as yours?
  8. The way it is now is the way it will stay for the simple reason that the calculation to determine the tier for each and every person owning land in SL is simple: Each tier is simply twice the size of the previous tier. Anything else just complicates things for the user and for the company. To create tier levels in any other way means a lot more mathematical formula under the hood and I really doubt LL would spend the money, time, and effort to scour through all that server and viewer code to update formulas, not to mention conjuring up the correct formulas, to begin with. @greek Wingtips "Budget" is an ambiguous word. If your budget doesn't allow you to a higher tier, it doesn't mean someone else's budget does not. This is the thing: we all see the world from the perspective of our own wallets. What is "cheap" to me may be ridiculously expensive to you. It's all about value.
  9. I am familiar with the "relink" script the OP speaks of. Though here's the "manual" way to do it and it works for me 95% of the time: Edit the linkset, unlink the root prim. Position the add-on to where you want it linked to. Select, in this order: Add-on, Linkset, Root Prim Link. This *usually* keeps all link numbers of the linkset in their proper order.
  10. I already have the script. Had the response been more like (It sounds like you know what I need can you help me?" - I'd do it for free. Takes 5 minutes. But when that person is a defeatist what else can one do. If you cannot figure out that my 15k L$ offer is anything other than a sarcastic rebuke then you have issues. You may want to see a professional about that. Some people choose to make a fair attempt at positive thoughts and take positive actions. Your replies that I have seen, every one of them, speaks volumes about you. No need to respond as you are an open book with regard to attitude. Though you have my permission to be allowed to take the last word regarding my comments. I'll save you the time: "Alyona Su you are an idiot! PLONK". There. I'm not. Though I'm not sure it's intended to be this way, this thread is the definition of a troll-thread. Ces-la vie. The best way to avoid a toxic environment is to remove one's self from it, which I am now in the process of. To all the other nay-sayers (the very few of you, you know who you are, including OP): Good luck with that. And to reiterate my entertainment, excuse my BAHAHAHA! as I run fast enough that the thread door doesn't hit me in the booty on my way out. BAHAHAHA!
  11. Nice spin, I see what you did there. Premium fee is not a tax and there is no 'representation', so phrasing it as "your premium money used to create" is an obvious side-step. Well-played! You already proclaim the other benefits of Premium (in your words: "The rest has kind of a funky, laggy aftertaste") - yet you simply (by innuendo) choose not to partake in them. Yet you also do not complain that your Premium money is being spent on Premium Sandbox sims, either. Therefore, any reasonable person will draw the conclusion that you have some particular disdain for the premium "gifts" and felt a need to rant about them as though such rant may be influential to others, even in the slightest way, because we all think our own opinions carry more weight and are far more important to others than they can ever be, myself included. Though I continue to try, as such with this post. lol To which my, intentionally light-hearted with humor, response was: well: no one is holding a gun to your head to go get and use those Premium gifts. Because I try to speak plainly, it also may not be clear that this response is meant in a light-hearted hardy-har-har way. I am smiling wide with entertainment here. Because these forums need a lot more smiles and laughter than what they get on a regular basis. *HIGH-FIVES*
  12. Actually, I do believe this is against MP TOS. Precisely. @AdamZadig : I have a friend who does it this way: The problem, he believes, is that people literally forget about leaving reviews. You don't go review something five minutes after opening it up. But then, you forget all about doing so. At the top of all his instructions notecards he always puts this (and I paraphrase): If you have a few moments to take the time, leaving a review always helps. Positive or negative, as long as it's honest and truthful. http://marketplace.secondlife.com/xxxx/yyyy/1234 Please remember a good review (positive or negative) will answer these questions for others: Is the product value what you expected? Is the documentation clear and complete? Is the price a fair one for what you received? Is the creator responsive to you? Then he goes into the instructions of whatever it is. Oh, and the MP link goes straight to THAT PRODUCT (not just his store). This way anytime someone opens those instructions there it is, with a link. He says reviews are still not as often as he'd like, but a definite boost since he started doing this.
  13. You know that little box in the top-right of your screen that appears when someone wants to hug you can you have to say YES. Or when you buy something and it says you've spent xxL$ and you click OK? That's what you will see: the same little box asking permissions. Just say YES and you're good to go.
  14. ... So... based on the thread title this is a 'goodbye' post, but item 3/ jints that it's not a goodbye thread, so it's really just a rant thread. If I'm mistaken in this, please elaborate, because if it looks like, smells like, walks like, and sounds like a rant... #justasking
  15. Yes, exactly. I SO HATE IT that they twist our arms to manually TP to the location and click those vendors for those premium gifts. I hate being force-fed that stuff, too.
  16. Then you're doing it wrong. Seriously. You are. Solutions that are proven to work and already in-use in-world have been provided, yet you either put up a wall against them or proclaim something doesn't work (because you aren't doing it right). So I'll tell you what: You contact me in-world and for the nominal surcharge of only L$15,000 I will come and do it for you. Since you cannot do it on your own and have asked how to do it and received many working answers and still cannot do it on your own then your only recourse is to hire someone who can do it. Many great people here, shop around, you may be able to find someone to do it for less.
  17. What the OP is asking to do is actually really super-simple. I already have a script that can do it and it works this way via a rezzer: Set the rezzer (perhaps a carpet) under the chair. Set the range of the sensor to 6 meters or so. The set-up would be to place an invisible cube over the chair that basically blocks any clicks on the chair (clicking on the cube, not the chair) - when sensor kicks in that an avatar is within range: derez the cube. Or vice-versa: place a dummy (scriptless) chair there and have the rezzer then rez a scripted chair in it's place. Either solution can work with no-modify stuff. The main complaint is, obviously enough, the extra LI/prims required. But that is the cost for such functionality, right? In the end, what the OP needs is to create an *EXPERIENCE* - that is the ONLY way to have total control of another user's inputs and movement, etc. GLWT.
  18. @Ernesto Perez , @Elijah Pyrithea There is actually a FREE security script that will auto-unsit avatars and gently PUSH them off your parcel. No need for an ORB. Sure, it's not perfect, but it does work 95% of the time. If land is group-owned then deed the box this is into the land. Remember that for guest names you must include full first and last names - (Resident for example). //GENTLE SECURITY integer warnrange = 90; integer pushrange = 75; integer power = 25000; string warning = "You are approaching a restricted area. If you enter the area you will be pushed out."; string guest1 = "Alyona Su"; string guest2 = "JohnDoe Resident"; string guest3 = ""; string guest4 = ""; string guest5 = ""; string guest6 = ""; string guest7 = ""; string guest8 = ""; string guest9 = ""; string guest10 = ""; integer numdone; vector dist; integer dist2; float dist3; integer active; default //Basic security system, warns within a certain radius, pushes away within another, and only pushes over your land for legal reasons. Also a good demonstration of how to avoid lists if you're so inclined { on_rez(integer start_param) { llResetScript(); } touch_start(integer num) { if (active == 0) { llSay(0, "Activated!"); active = 1; llSensorRepeat("", NULL_KEY, AGENT, warnrange, PI, 0.1); } else if (active == 1) { llSay(0, "Deactivated!"); active = 0; llSensorRemove(); } } sensor(integer num_detected) { while (numdone != num_detected) { if (llOverMyLand(llDetectedKey(numdone)) == TRUE && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest1 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest2 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest3 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest4 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest5 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest6 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest7 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest8 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest9 && llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(numdone)) != guest10 && llDetectedKey(numdone) != llGetOwner()) { vector mpos = llGetPos(); vector dpos = llDetectedPos(numdone); integer distx = (integer)dpos.x - (integer)mpos.x; integer disty = (integer)dpos.y - (integer)mpos.y; integer distz = (integer)dpos.z - (integer)mpos.z; dist = <distx, disty, distz>; dist2 = (integer)llVecDist(mpos, dpos) * (integer)llVecDist(mpos, dpos); dist3 = llSqrt(dist2); if (dist3 < pushrange) { llUnSit(llDetectedKey(numdone)); llPushObject(llDetectedKey(numdone), dist * dist2 * power, ZERO_VECTOR, FALSE); } else if (dist3 < warnrange) { llInstantMessage(llDetectedKey(numdone), warning); } } numdone = numdone + 1; } if (numdone == num_detected) { numdone = 0; } } no_sensor() { numdone = 0; } }
  19. I should also clarify that my response is to the THREAD TITLE and references people actually starting RL business with their avatar names. based on the replies I see I was a touch off-mark with the intended target-answer of the question at hand. lol
  20. If you mean parcel access the answer should be YES: Acces roles stack: Allow Group Only Sell passes ...should both work. However, in options for Allow Building (rezzing), Scripting, Flying, etc - if you set those to group-only then only the group can do them. So if you want to allow those who buy-into your parcel to be allowed to do them then set those to Everyone. You won't have to be concerned about it as others still cannot get into your parcel to rez anything... unless they pay the entrance fee first. Edit to add: Note that sell passes allow a buyer into the parcel. it's a once-off thing. They can stay as long as they want. But once they leave, logout, or even crash - they must pay again to gain access. So keep this in mind.
  21. A video DOES help, if the product can be helped by it. For example gadgets of any kind (magic HUD, Particle Generator HUD, etc). When I was on the hunt to fill my Dancer HUD and looking for dance animations - there were a few creators who included video as well as in-store poser-demos. The videos helped me to decide the general quality of the animations. In the case of a vehicle, for example (boat, aircraft, etc.) - gotta have a demo as, for me, how it feels to drive is more important than how it looks or any whiz-bang features like spinning this or turning that, etc. I guess the main point being that I want to get the feel of what it is, what it does, and will it fill my wants or needs and I want to know this as much as possible before I plunk down 5000L$. So, if it's time-limited demo in world, a demo I can "buy" in MP, a video - if it can show me what it does and that it will fill my need: then yes: you will have a sale. If it comes close, but still not sure, then I will IM the creator and ask "Hey, looking your product and I really need it to do this or work this way, does yours?"
  22. Oh, good point. I am usually able to navigate my way through the ambiguous descriptions LL uses to find the true meaning. This may be one of those times I have failed.
  23. It says *CREATED* or upgraded. So even if you have never upgraded to premium until now, you should still get the grandfathered tier.
  24. Haha - yes, it is RAW - sorry. I've owned a lot of regions, but that was a LONG TIME AGO.
  25. YES you can. There have been many over the years who have created RL business based on their avatar name and even LOOK. They have even Trademarked them.
