  1. well there's nothing that can be done about "unscheduled maintenance" things break, it's a part of life.
  2. Understanding that sl is unoptimized and will run horrid if cranked up to the max, even if they claim to have this Uber system, they have to learn first hand and with help how to optimize their system for sl.
  3. No lol! it still does live though, it's turned into a plex server now lol. but that 8800 gts died many moons ago. Current system CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU @ 4.10GHz (4100 MHz) Memory: 32679 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 18362.418) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 980/PCIe/SSE2 is what I run now, it's a good beasty.
  4. I know when I joined in 07, I was running a barton core 2.03ghz single core, 256mb ram and a 64mb mx440 nvidia card, I used that until late 2009 when I started getting "upgrades" from hand me downs, so that system went away, ended up with a 775 lga e7400 with 8gb ram and a 8800 gts 640mb video card. then now I have this monster that lol, will be ages before it gets another upgrade
  5. Topic ended over a year ago.
  6. The only part I can think of that I read in the past, was LL only keeps chat logs for 2 weeks and then they get dev/nulled, while I think it would be cool to pull 12 years worth of chat logs, I'm going go out on a limb and say they do not have it at all.
  7. it's gonna take lots of work to accomplish this task, it's just not as easy as flipping a switch, believe it's a whole new backend coding solution that works with their current code and backend.
  8. Mac address (not apple product) and hardware ban, both of those have a unique serial number attached to them, LL has the ability to place bans on both. IP banning in this day and age is never going to work, I can change mine with restarting my modem or restarting my router (bridged mode on the modem).
  9. Hi, SL is not dying and that's all anybody ever has to really read and go "okay" because if it was dying it would of been dead several times over by now. we've had some serious things in the 12 years I've been here. it dips, but always recovers and it's really been stable and nice for ages, those social islands, ugh, I am not visiting them again, The types that people ban easily from their sims and parcels tend to gather there.
  10. If you have a RLV enabled viewer, such as one of the 3rd party ones then yes, a rlv relay that is triggered or a collar thats set can do that.
  11. My gpu is set to use 2gb of ram, much as you can use on firestorm, I think the other viewers LL and such only allow 512mb, it's not going to use more than that, and SL uses the cpu more than it will ever use the gpu.
  12. as a rule of thumb, since it's mainland you are connecting to all those sims, if you can see into the next sim you are also downloading that sims items too, if you can just see forever, you are seeing those items too, means downloading, which means bottlenecking the hardware/viewer. I have a RIG built for it all, my draw is 32m with no shadows and you know what, even if I get 40+ people there I maintain 30+ fps easily.
  13. Cross talk problem between hosts, it used to happen way way to often in 2008/2009ish. would have to logout to get out of one sim.
  14. 12 years ago, I loved the simpsons, I saw CNN has an SL segment, and knew I kinda had a pc that would run it, so I went and signed up, Some one had taken mostly all the moe names, and none of the last names where standing out, until I found whitfield, I tried moe whitfield at first, the name was taken (the account looks to have never been used either) so I ended up with bigmoe whitfield, now with displays names, I am just moe :3 so yes, I got my first name from moe off the simpsons lol.
  15. First make sure they allow you to use this as a personal device that you can do as you wish, do not want to violate any of their company policies, typically what applies in office, applies for home users too. Now i3, not to bad persay, but 8gb ram, can tell right off the bat it's a business machine, since they never order enough ram for the machines to be useful. I'm going to bet it has an igpu too, so that's also eating up the system ram.
  16. Not sure what to make of it yet prok, I'm gonna keep watching.
  17. Best place to find out what is happening is here https://status.secondlifegrid.net/ Be patient as sometimes it takes a bit before they update it when issues happen. sometimes they are up to their neck and do not have time to post instantly what is going on.
  18. I've only found 3 hairs that fit my head (my forum image), I really really wish people would leave them unrigged, Since adjusting takes so much work, not everyone plays humans.
  19. 0.2% and 177mb. which is nothing, well nothing if you have a system that has a ton of ram, and playing SL people need to have a ton of ram. but heh this is SL, I see people trying to play it with vista still.
  20. There are no tools or sites you can use for this, LL is not going to give it to you. it's disclouser and is against the Terms of Services you agreed upon when signing up for the service.
  21. Blocking an ip address in todays times is not a wise solution, ip addresses are recycled and if some one that uses SL get's that ip that you have used or had, they will be blocked from using the service, as mentioned block it using the windows hosts file.
