  1. I know this all to well, running the hosting company I have since 98, which I think you know about, not 100% but think you do, and I can tell you, some one comes to me wanting this, they best have a chunk of change ready, I do not have an unmetered connection at the datacenter. 50gb a month, is what we get, it's the cheapest we can get still, but it's what we have. 1500 sites, 4 remote desktop rentals and trust me, 150 bucks extra every month comes out, all because of that limitation. people think "oh you are hosted a data center you have all the bandwidth" yeah tell that to my upstream provider lol.
  2. SLgo will never return, Sony killed onlive to use the technology in one of their projects, everything onlive had, sony took control of, so no viewer or such exists from that.
  3. Having known ardy for many upon many years, I can 100% tell you, ardy uses the official viewer and was even building them for a time.
  4. you can only set your friends to not see you, you will be visible in groups and the server will show you online, there are no ways to turn the groups and server side off.
  5. Sound idea, but I think free is a bad idea, asset storage costs, these are on aws, last time I heard they have over 300+ PETABYTES of space used. free uploads would make the price go up for their storage.
  6. I tweeted at the ebbster. and Kristin says they are working on it. Don't panic, LL has not been hacked or attacked. it's a legit issue with their certificates, it takes lots to remember to renew them and most do not auto renew. as a webhosting provider, I have 1500 domains with 855 that need valid certificates and all that expire on different days, trust me, some slip through the cracks, but like people have done they notified the lindens and the lindens go forth and fix thee problem!
  7. Use the Lindex, it's the only legit way, you risk the account if you do it other ways.
  8. what are the specs of the new machine, we need to know what all "under the hood" to speak so we can try and see how we can diagnose the issue.
  9. I'm here serveral times through out the day. but I visit each day and do try to help people as much as I can and I give a real world view to those that come yelling at LL about certain items, like "downtime" processing fee's and such. I try to help people understand and see from another point of view that helps them understand sometimes why the lab does what it does when we are consumers of their products. I'm a people person that loves helping when and how ever I can.
  10. If the user wants to get the hosting for that, it's not a cheap option.
  11. it was happening and my isp was having issues at the same time, so I suspect there was a flood of something happening on a pipe/backhaul some place that got several issues.
  12. make sure to keep the text white, otherwise, anything else on the black theme makes the text hard to read.
  13. I wish I could see the underlying workings of this whole setup you guys have running. 12 year I've been around and I've just learned as much as I can, wish I knew more.
  14. LL will not take appeals from 3rd party's aka friends, the person in question, if they are allowed to appeal in the first place, needs to open a support ticket through the sl website and take it from there.
  15. what do you expect? nobody in the whole industry has a full SLA uptime, things happen, things break, nobody can predict such things in advanced.
  16. LL is required by law, you are not going to be able to skirt the legal requirements enacted by the us government.
  17. " So that we may assist you, please submit a new ticket with the email address that you used to create the account. " You need to create the ticket just as it say's, it's going to be the only way of resolving the issue.
  18. I have said this before, but I work grave yards, 12 hours a night, I have no social life, so basically 12 years I've been in SL, active in SL, I'm going to remain in SL. it's my only social outlet. nothing tends to be open and nobody is really around this town when I'm up normally.
  19. Windows profiles are easily accessible if the drive is not bitlocked. if that drive gets stuck in another pc, it's very easy for say me to take a tool that gives me full ownership of the whole user/profiles, that lets me do what ever then. Best bet is to keep them in something like keepass that's encrypted and without, the keyfile, it does nobody no good as it's not crackable or able to be reverse engineered. plus the drive I have the key on is bitlocked in a container on a partition that does not show up without a piece of software I wrote lol.
  20. I'm going to guess whom ever put the cancelled note into the status on IO, they did not cancell the other one from running.?
  21. I keep each account with information for it, in keepass, which uses a very very good keyfile that's only in a certain place that is not where anyone but me would look, each account, is there saved. it's worth looking into.
