The page shown is the new default page at secondlife.com for signups. All new avatars are also available (in Firestorm, at least), via the 'Choose an Avatar' option. Additionally, they can all be found in the Library, under Clothing / Initial Outfits: Males: Ashton (dude carrying a dog), Leonard (old dude), Monty (dude with guitar), Greg (dude from the 70s) Females: Bitsy (lady with the hat), Gretchen (lady in the formal), Trixie (rocker chic), Monique (given the bell bottoms and platform shoes, I think she's from the 70s also). Nice to have a new set of things in the Library to dig through - I want that hat/hair combo.

We've already seen where some SL creators have claimed their mesh was original and been proven wrong. I'm not about to take the time to scour the internet for everything I buy to try and determine if it really is 'original'. Thus the 'original' claim doesn't mean anything to me anymore. If I like something, I'll buy it.

Confirmed - and it also happens with items in your cart. Basically, if you get all the way to the final Buy page, then all applicable items that you are buying get flagged as 'previously purchased' for this message. Weather forecasting is so comical sometimes. I'm looking at 4-5 inches of fresh snow on the ground. It is still snowing hard and not expected to quit for at least another 2-3 hours. Yet all forecast sites still say we will get either less than an inch or 1-3 inches.

If you return to page 1 you will see that I already responded with a comment that was directly related to the original post - about Facebook accounts and commenting on Destination pages. However, as is often the case with forum threads, various semi-related comments will get made and my response was directly towards one of those comments. You also responded to that same MP comment, saying you had not seen such and even requested a screen grab showing it. Thus my comment about actually trying to prove it one way or the other is just as related as your own comment on the MP stuff. As much as you might like to control the direction of a thread that you start, there will always be tangent comments, some more related than others, but you can't really control it and not all of said comments are "trolling".

Nothing is jumping out from that info. Given that you could log in yesterday, I'd probably try a modem and router reboot first. If you are wireless, try wired if that is an option. Also, go ahead and start up the Firestorm viewer, but do not try to log in. Instead, click Help / About Firestorm. Click the 'Copy to Clipboard' button at the bottom of the window that pops up and then paste that into a reply here. There may be something in your settings that are causing an issue.

You're very welcome - and thanks for coming back to give us an update. It is good when any fixes can be acknowledged here for others to make note of.

I have absolutely no reason to doubt your RL skin color. I'm responding because of the two phrases I've quoted. Since people can pretend to be anyone they want on the internet, including within virtual worlds, I want to at least warn you on assuming that if someone gives you a picture of them, that it is definitely a picture of "them". You will likely run across all sorts of folks inworld, claiming all kinds of things that may or may not really be true. The guy talking sweet to you may not really be single, in RL or in SL. The person claiming to be recovering from some terrible disease, may or may not actually be doing so in RL. The gal chatting you up and trying to be friends may really be a guy behind the avatar. The person portraying an Asian in SL may or may not really be Asian in RL. There are plenty of POC inworld that actually have their avatar in a white skin, for various reasons - and vice versa. In addition to claiming falsehoods in SL, many of those folks will follow it up by offering pictures as proof. However, pictures are easy to pull of the internet and claim as your own. As I said, this post is not because of any doubt about you, but as a cautionary message to you since you admit to being new to the virtual scene.

Typically this happen when you have too many items attached to the same point. Put all your items on normally and then check what each is attached to. Likely there are multiple items attached to the same location as the head. Things that are rigged will automatically go to the area they are rigged to, so you can detach items and re-attach them to other locations. The only thing you need to be careful of is that some attachment points can cause some items to move funny, so you might have to experiment a bit to find the best attach spots for some things.

While the thread is definitely ancient and a vast majority of the Residents have moved to mesh body / body parts, there are still plenty of new folks that don't jump right into the mesh bodies (and heck, even a few older folks still using the classic system body), so the basic info here is still somewhat relevant. When I first came back to SL a couple of years ago, before I even picked up some mesh feet, I used some of the 'shoes with feet' thus had to deal with matching the skin. The 'show info' trick does help in those cases, but, as Rolig mentioned in her first post back in 2012, it will not provide a good match under all the different viewpoints and lighting possibilities in SL. That is why so many of those 'shoe/feet' combos had some sort of strap at the ankle where the foot connected to the body. As long as you could get close with your coloring, the strap would help hide minor differences. Using mesh feet on a system body can give the same type of issues, though there you usually can at least buy a system skin from someone that also makes a mesh foot 'applier'. However, while that will provide a much better match, there will often still be slight issues at the seam line - similar to using a system head with a mesh body. In those case, anklets and / or chokers will become your close friends.
