  1. Crikey has it already been more than a year since Unklebob posted? I miss Tolya too. His dry wit used to make me truly LOL, and he doesn't know it but it's probably thru him I got together with Janelle. I get a good fix of Pep over on the feeds, which I said I wouldn't touch with a bargepole. It was thru Pep's wise posts over there that I found out that a would-be stuffy conservative politician is giving it all up to go and live with her husband and ex-manager of Def Leppard, Peter Mensch. Heck, I have to go back to feeds now and click 'love' on his post. I keep forgetting all the different 'etiquette' .
  2. Have you updated your graphics card drivers recently? If not, see if you need to by visiting the manufacturers website for your specific graphics card, although it sounds more like a problem with how the information is relaying from the servers to your computer, ie a break up with the connection. Are you using wireless by any chance?
  3. Hello, sectoid, how are you today? We're still waiting here on the forums for a bit more detail from you, such as the type of system you are using. Please post your full system specifications, including graphics card, and also the viewer you are using. The loss of inventory and other information is down to the server losing connection with your computer, but you have not lost it forever. All of your information is stored on the servers, and in all my years of being in Second Life, I have never known anyone (except the permabanned) to lose everything. You might need to update your graphics card drivers, or if your computer is very old, or has had a lot of wear, you might need a new graphics card. The modem might need unplugging and the connection resetting BUT I am loathe to recommend trying anything until we are sure of what system you are running, then we can be much more specific and get you back up and running properly again. Hoping to hear from you soon.
  4. Just for the duration of the event, is it possible for an Estate Manager to change the settings for the sandbox so that only people older than 30 days can attend? Also, rotate the people you can trust, to have one keeping an eye on the proceedings for 30 minutes each, so that the moment anyone does attempt to grief, that person can be frozen while their griefer object(s) is/are returned via the land details list, then the griefer can be ARd, ejected and banned. Some good organisation will minimise the need for Linden Lab intervention. Being a sandbox, I appreciate that it is usual for people with no payment information on file, and from Day 0 age are more than welcome, so after the event, just remember to change the settings back, and again, ensure Estate Managers are to hand to deal swiftly with any griefers.
  5. Welcome to Second Life Answers, koran999 Your avatar name tells us that you are not a newbie in Second Life, and so I am wondering if perhaps your computer is just getting full to the brim with programs and clutter. However, as Peggy says, we do need more to go on, or all we can do is guess why Second Life no longer loads for you.

I agree it is very creepy to think that someone might be listening in to local chat, but then I've long got out of the habit of talking in local chat whenever I can avoid it. If I want to talk to one or two specific people, either IM or Conference Call work better, and then there is much less risk of the conversation ending up on a public blog site.
  8. If the problem of Zerango being out of action gets reported, via Support/Live Chat, I'm sure LL will be on the case to find out what's gone wrong.
  9. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Gaspar Only your friend can sort this one out, and it looks like Linden Lab are absolutely sure of their decision, and their decision is final.
  10. Deja Letov wrote: hahah I never realized I could get *bleeped* on the forum. For those paying attention my bleep was a good word for a mean nasty woman that starts with a B Did you mean "b1tch"? I wasn't allowed to say n1p, in the context of n1p across to (location). Odd forum censorship sometimes, eh?! I like your option of putting them in the backyard. My brother (whose computer I use to access Second Life) understands perfectly the attraction of it, knows it's not a game in the usual sense of the word, and has ensured the room the computer sits in has access to plenty of daylight and fresh air, but he has noticed that I have got something of a 'Tefal head' since become an SL-geek :matte-motes-confused: as he calls me. I don't bother even trying to explain to the friends who don't get the attraction to SL. If they somehow think I would rather be shoe shopping when they have the stinkiest feet in the universe, and cannot see why being in SL is preferable, there is no way of explaining really.
  11. Iam Runningbear wrote: I am not sure how this thread got off on how foolish someone is or is not on investing money into something that can go poof in a split second. It did so because this is a resident to resident forum, and it was assumed you were asking for opinions, or generally trying to drum up some back-up from other residents to go and storm the bastille that is Linden Lab. I for one can afford it. Sl is my relaxation. I have chosen to invest a lot of money here but this is no different than those that gamble away a large amount of money at Vegas or donate to the cause at their local Bar. That's good then. It's good to have a relaxing hobby, although you do not seem to be very relaxed at all, quite the opposite in fact. People who gamble away large amount of money at Vegas or spend on drinks that they are only going to p*ss up a wall later tend to accept their lot, and don't complain of poor customer services, although they may feel bad the morning after when they wake up with an empty wallet and/or a hangover, and the smell of vomit and stale beer all around them. This thread was intended to point out the lack of customer service. Whether or not my clubs or businesses in SL generate enough funds to pay for themselves is irrelevant. I will pay the tier amount not covered. As I stated. I can afford it and I know all to well it is all at Risk. Some of us don't find such a lack of customer service. Some of us read and took notice of the Terms of Service when we signed up for Second Life. Some of us don't expect Linden Lab to owe us anything, regardless of how much we invest in Second Life (and as time is money, and a lot of people invest their time in testing things for free, it could be argued a lot of people are investing plenty in Second Life). There have been some dumb decisions made as of late that has literally crushed the SL economy. One does not need to be a genius to see and understand this. It just seems that LL would have enough business sense to also see what is taking place. "Stupid is as stupid does, Forrest"! All business have dips in profits and customers from time to time. Sometimes it is best to get back to the basics. Stop all the special interest improvements that waist resources and improve situation of just a choice few. I agree that too much time is being spent on things I am not personally interested in, such as mesh and pathfinding. However, there are plenty of people who are interested, and these people are investing already in these areas. These people are no more or less special interest groups than club owners. Can LL actually survive with only its special interest groups? There is room for everyone in this world. No one group has the right to say how it is fun. Linden Lab has the final say. As per Terms of Service. And round and round we go again. Specific complaints, and constructive criticism, are/is always welcome, for sure. Regarding other people in this thread who say they have had snail mail returned from LL, I personally have experienced only positive outcomes from snail mail sent from the UK to the Head Office at Battery Street. There have not been replies in the form of letters in return, but action speaks louder than words. And of course I can only speak from my own experience.
  12. When something has gone so far into a real life situation, real life beatings, real life taking refuge in a shelter for abused citizens/women, then the police have to be involved, and all that goes with it. A real life restraining order should be set in place against this person, and part of that restraining order has to be no contact, no defamation, and your legal team would also be able to place in such restraining order documentation a clause that includes your lives in any form, via internet, virtual reality or otherwise. I urge you to seek full legal backing, if you have not already done so. As soon as possible.

  14. Is it possible something has got embedded inside something else? I used to arrive at a certain place in my house and be spammed by something, which turned out to be in the floor of my house! I somehow had slid whatever it was into the floor, it was there inside the 'contents' tab when I clicked around at the location the spammy thing gave me. If the location this thing is giving you is up in mid-air with nothing there, use highlight objects (press "ctrl" "alt" "t" at the same time), see if something invisible shows up. Other answers may follow.
  15. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Shandra This is a resident to resident help area, and so we can't really be sure why you're unable to log in on your main account. Click the "help" button at the top of this screen and submit a support ticket to Linden Lab directly. They will be able to clear this up for you. ***** Edited to add direct link to Second Life Support https://support.secondlife.com/contact-support/ Also to add, as this Answers section has no "reply" button, you can add more to your thread by clicking "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  16. Maybe your (ex)-fiance has always fantasised about being a single father! Looks like you may have granted him his wish. Ensure you don't rush into your next relationship, and be careful who you give permissions to.

  18. Now I am in the mood to sit on the sea front wall, swinging my legs while eating fish and chips out of the wrapping paper. Lashings of vinegar, a little bit of salt.
  19. As Lucinda no longer .... .... yes... ... I miss Lucinda's lively chat. :matte-motes-wink-tongue:
  20. Hugs you back ! Yes, we were both there.
  21. Great stuff. Does this mean that my landlocked home town in the middle of Yorkshire might end up being a seaside town after all? :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  22. Waif LittleBoots wrote: Would a peacful, non-distruptive protest at the OOC landing point of a sim (to protest changes in the sim's policies) be considered griefing? Activites would be limited to holding signs and perhaps handing out notecards. Yes, in Second Life, it would be considered griefing. Not only would you and your co-protesters be banned from the sim, but you run the risk of a suspension from Second Life. Sim owners reserve the right to change policies at their will and on any whim. Best to just walk away and find another sim to hang out.
  23. Just because you can afford it, does not mean you are not stupid! "A fool and his money is soon parted." :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  24. Are you just stirring up mischief today? It's just that you've necroposted a thread that should have been left to die in January of this year. :matte-motes-bored:
  25. Do you know what? Maybe I just don't care enough either. Selfishly Linden Lab does all they need to do for me. Being without much money, I'd say I am lucky that I don't have the choice of investing more than I have in something that could go 'poof' at any moment (imagine - heaven forbid - if there was a massive earthquake in SF for example). I just don't see the need for everyone to be so wound up to the top about virtual reality when there is far more to be concerned with out in real life. People can argue the toss with me or the others who allegedly defend LL, they can voice all their frustrations, it's a forum after all. But really and truly, any real concerns about Linden Lab's policies and how Linden Lab choose to work, should be directed straight at Linden Lab themselves, via snail mail, or by knocking on the door at SF, not groaning and grumbling and being mardy on a resident-in-the-main forum. I'm well aware how much land is for sale. I've always had my SL home on the mainland, and the mainland is where I explore. The people who tend to be the mardiest on these forums, are those who think the world owes them a living because they've been stupid enough to waste more money than they can afford. It shows to me that money does not bring happiness, it just brings mardiness. As for Linden Lab having no business sense, I won't defend them there. It's totally up to them what they want to do. It is, after all, THEIR business.
