  1. I get the strong impression that Linden Lab support staff can often be as baffled as us regular residents when certain error messages persist. Clearing cache and checking your internet connection is stable should have been enough to enable your main avatar to be able to access Second Life successfully, and indeed any of the subsequent avatars with which you have been having the same problem. To my mind, it is ridiculous if Linden Lab are only giving limited help to accounts that are not premium members (I have even sent a snail mail to Linden Lab Head Office in the past showing graphically how there are plenty of non-premium residents who actually spend a lot more inworld - as you have done - than many premium members do). Better customer relations would be developed if there was more goodwill from Linden Lab, and more residents would be retained, but it is what it is, and who am I to criticise the policies of the people who own and run Second Life? :matte-motes-not-entertained: I cannot be 100% sure what is going on with the avatars that you are having problems with, but its interesting that there is a repeating pattern, and it is something that LL could easily advise on, but they do expect residents to help each other here on the Forums/Answers. When an avatar is newly created, if a new resident finds themselves unable to log into Second Life at all, it is usually because their system is not adequate either in graphics capabilities or with sufficient RAM. Of course we can rule this out in your case as you have been able to log in with all your avatars for at least the first few months of their existence. Over time, though, we all accumulate things. Our avatars' inventories become very full, and occasionally we may need to clear cache to bring everything together again. Also, we are back to the internet connection issue too. Anyone who has a less-than-stable internet connection may encounter many more problems than other residents. If you find you can only remain logged in for short periods of time and then are logged out, it is usually because there has been an interruption in the internet connection. And so it is vital that you are able to have stability,, hence why you have already received the advice in this thread to be on a wired connection rather than on wireless. Going back to the point once again that you made about LL's attitude towards non-premium members, if they don't realise by now the value of ALL the residents, then it is unlikely they ever will. They have in the past asked residents to complete surveys, asked for suggestions how they can retain new users, and have tried different things such as having a basic viewer (failed miserably) and two sims that were dedicated to, and accessed via, a button that would teleport people directly to a set of volunteer helpers (failed miserably), but the one thing that always seems to fall on deaf ears is this lack of proper support for non-premium members who may be paying many hundreds of US dollars per year. We here on the forums give advice based on our own experiences and what we have learned. We are not privy to what goes on behind the scenes, and I personally often feel that it would not be so hard for LL to deal with some queries that go through via support tickets quite quickly and professionally rather than bounce people back here, or simply shut a virtual door in their faces. I hope some of the advice given in this thread will help you. Once you have checked your internet connection is as stable as can be, do ensure you have plenty of RAM available. Check your graphics card drivers are up-to-date. Do a disk cleanup of your computer and defragment to tidy everything up as much as possible. Physically clean inside and outside if you are able using air duster spray (video how to do this if you've never done it before is no doubt available via Google or youtube). Wishing you loads of luck and a more successful future in SL.
  2. Welcome to Second Life Answers, ChristmasMagic15. Unlike in real life, in Second Life you can 100% decide if and when you want to be pregnant. In real life and in Second Life, your boyfriend is probably unlikely to know when you will get pregnant, and so he cannot tell you when this will happen. There are devices/HUDs/pregnancy kits available in Second Life. You can find these by using the in-world Search feature, enter the keywords of pregnancy or baby or maternity. You can also go to the Second Life Marketplace and read up on what is available too. Having a baby in Second Life is no big deal, and is more about how good your imagination and roleplay skills are. It is much more complicated in Real Life to have a baby, and should not be entered into without a lot of thought and consideration.
  3. It might be wholly unrelated to you using Firestorm viewer. Have you tried logging into a different location? Change the log in start location on the log in screen to Quarrel or Furball, and see if you are able to log in. Or please add more information to your original post and see if other ideas come forth.
  4. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Johnathan2013 I agree with Rolig, that it does sound likely that you are having connection issues, and these are probably not connected to, but have coincidentally happened at around the time of a rolling restart. If you were suddenly logged out, because of the rolling restart, there is a chance you may need to clear your cache and do a relog. Please report back with any more information you have that you think we'll find useful so that we can try and help you some more. Use "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post to "edit".
  5. Welcome to Second Life Forums, ErAAlvaros. I was under the impression that all sim owners actually could restart their own regions at their own discretion already. However, there are times when Linden Lab need to maintain servers, which involves restarting regions. Other responses will follow, please keep checking back. Edited to add: Please remember also that as a sim owner, you have Concierge status and can call up Live Help/Linden Lab support directly with particular concerns. More about this is on this link... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Accounts-overview/ta-p/700019#Section_.2.3
  6. /me hurriedly takes a photograph of the lesser spotted Linden and bookmarks the information to pass on to those less fortunate than myself. /me goes away singing "... and I still ... haven't found... what I'm looking for." Nice to see you Monty

I couldn't care less for your advice to block/mute/ignore me, but food for thought are not just cupcakes, mind you. I couldn't care less if you couldn't care less, and did I mention you specifically? Guilty conscience much? No. ok

  9. Something very different, and quite marvellous. Well done
  10. I do love lighthouses, especially in the bad weather. Very nice photograph. Congratulations on being Pic of the Day

Plus, moving a fully kitted out skybox is a pain in the a**. She could have moved her empty box much easier. Reminds me of the people buying a house in the approach vector of a busy runway and then complaining about the noise. This made me smile wryly, thinking about some people who moved into a town where I lived, bought a cute little cottage on Church Street, and then began a campaign to get the church bells quietened, saying they disturbed the peace! There's nowt so queer as folks. :matte-motes-not-entertained:

I have it so no one can see avatars on the parcel but residents can see what's inside the house. Whats with your attitude in thinking your being cute in attempting to put me down? Hello, MissNessy. I just need to point something out to you. Just because someone has been in world for five years, or longer than yourself, it does not necessarily mean they know everything, or are automatically right. If your skybox was there first, if you have content that adheres to the G, M, A ratings as set out in the Community Standards/Terms of Service documentation, then you have no reason to move the skybox or the contents, and in the future I would suggest simply taking on board what someone says, but do not rush to respond. Instead, seek, as you have done here, advice, and read the Terms of Service and Community Standards to be fully conversant with it. Also, as you have discovered already in this thread, there are certain people on the forums who will pick up on your seeming naivety. They do not know it all either, and are covering up for their own insecurities. The best action you can take in these cases is inaction. Block/mute/ignore. I wish you a happier future in your Second Life. Most people are fabulous, considerate and fun. You have just been a little unlucky to encounter some people who are not.

Each request takes 5-10 minutes to process. See some of the below samples of the Peek360 service." This is ridicules. You should have to opt in to allow them to visit not some B$ like this. I also think LL should require all scripted agents to have the name of their owner in their profile. I fully agree with this. If they're not being sneaky sneaky then they have nothing to worry about by having owner name in their profile. We've got this 'curiouser and curiouser' thread running on the forums also, where there is another enigma regarding scripted agents. One person, or maybe an organisation consisting of several people have got hundreds of individual bots running, and at first it was a bit of a concern that they were scanning something, could even have been copybots for all we knew. Seems they are some kind of advertising spam bot. But back to Teagan's issue, and that of all of us who don't really desire a 360 degree view of whatever's going on in our house/land/skybox appearing on a website, these spy bots do seem a total invasion of privacy, and are indeed a stalking tool.
  14. I'm sure there must be more than one website set up for the same purpose, but this is one such example of an organisation who send out bots to photograph specific locations and then display a 360 degree of the area. http://www.avatrian.com/Peek360/index.php Whenever I've tried to test it (using my own home location I hasten to add), I always get told there is a high demand, and get shown some alternative places. I cannot think how you could stop this from happening on your own sim, apart from giving access only to group members or to people with payment information on file, and that would seem to be a bad idea.
  15. This is what is says in the Second Life Community Standards: Alternate Accounts While Residents may choose to play Second Life with more than one account, specifically or consistently using an alternate account to harass other Residents or violate the Community Standards is not acceptable. Alternate accounts are generally treated as separate from a Resident's principal account, but misuse of alternate accounts can and will result in disciplinary action on the principal account. (taken from: http://secondlife.com/corporate/cs.php ) Therefore, if you believe someone is repeatedly causing offence or disturbance to residents, you are at liberty to not only inform the sim owner, but you can also submit an Abuse Report inworld via the Help option you will see at the top of your viewer's screen.
  16. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Trixy. If you registered your account to your own details, birth date, real life name, and a security question, as long as you know the password for it, and your boyfriend does not also know all of these details, it should be a straightforward case of going to your dashboard, and changing the details on your account. If there is a chance your boyfriend knows your password, then the first thing you should do is change it NOW. https://secondlife.com/my/account/password.php?lang=en-US https://secondlife.com/my/account/?lang=en-US https://secondlife.com/my/account/contact.php?lang=en-US Should you require more assistance/information, please click on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  17. WOW! That really is quite the most beautiful photo. Well done!
  18. In real life I like to just wash my hair and go - that is to say, I like to get on with more important or fun things in my day than faffing about with my fine detail. As long as I'm clean and paid for, that's all that matters to me. And so, in my Second Life, I rarely can be arsed fannying about with my feet. Getting the colour of fake feet to match perfectly with my legs makes my OCD start up with avengeance, change the lighting, arggghhh! got to change the colour of the feet too. Time in Second Life goes way too fast, and I don't want to be spending the first half an hour getting my feet just so. In real life I rarely wear toeless footwear. Feet are not the prettiest of body parts in my opinion. In Second Life I prefer to wear my jammies with the novelty slippers, ie these are pretty foxy.
  19. @ eyeye and Hrdtop Spamming group chats? Hmmm in the groups I'm joined to that would get them kicked from the group at least. So is this mystery solved then? They hang around on Linden-owned chunks of abandoned or protected land doing no real harm? Something still does not sit right about this to me. /me goes off to sharpen shovel, even if its to dig my own hole!
  20. Oooo I am so out of practice. You were too fast for me
  21. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Corky31. Bots can perform a multitude of tasks, from following their owner and creating art, to picking up land at the lowest prices, to sending out messages to groups, ie spam, to monitoring whatever the owner wants to monitor. Bots are not all out to get you, but some may be. My advice would be to read all about Second Life bots (Google is your friend, and also there are tutorials and information on youtube too - look for Second Life bots). And continue banning any avatars - bots or otherwise - that make you feel unhappy or uncomfortable. I'm sure you have a ton more questions, which you can add to this thread either by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit" or use the "permalink" option at the bottom left of an individual's post that you wish to respond to.
  22. Merry Christmas to you too and thanks, Stormee. :matte-motes-smile: The photo was a sheer fluke. I actually 'broke' Santa by clicking on him, he and the reindeer got stuck in that tree, giving me time to fanny about with the windlight settings.
  23. Just to add to Rolig's great thread, and the great Answers already provided here, I'd like to add special Christmas wishes to absent friends, especially to those who may still lurk, you are missed on these forums/answers. And to those in the UK who are already in their beds waiting for the arrival of Santa's sack (!), wait for meeeeeee !!!!
  24. If it doesn't show up as an object, then it has possibly been cast as a spell by stealth, or via a weapons HUD, so have a look in your "bumps and pushes", see if it shows a name there, and see who else is currently in your sim or adjoining sims.
