  1. Welcome to Second Life Answers. You can do just about anything you want to in Second Life, at Premium level membership or not. Pay nothing and expect nothing, and anything you get will surely be a bonus. You can pick up a lot of free outfits, skins, shapes, etc., to make your avatar look appealing to any would be BDSM master either from the Second Life Marketplace, or by searching inworld. Then go and hang around at BDSM sims (again to be found by using the inworld Search option), and just play things by ear. Use your profile to put a little bit about yourself as a partial introduction.
  2. Hello again, Sasha You don't transfer photos directly from Second Life to Facebook. Your options are: You can send a photo from inworld to your email address. You can save a photo from inworld directly to your computer. If using certain viewers, you can upload your photos directly to Flickr or your my.secondlife.com web feed. Facebook is not affiliated with Second Life, so there is no direct transfer facility avaiable at this time. What you CAN do though, is upload photos from your computer to Facebook. Instructions how to do this are on Facebook. Log in to your Facebook account, click on your own name and you'll see "photos", and from then on read the screen to work out how to upload your photos.
  3. Happy Un-Halloween !! :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: This is my contribution to your thread. I decorated a man who went afk in my presence with a very pretty pink box. He was sooooo macho.

And I've returned it to the grid several times over the years, but never for long. The problem is the prices. It's so darn expensive just to have my own little creative space on the grid. This isn't very attractive anymore, not like it used to be. Especially when there are literally dozens of other games these days that allow creative freedom, and usually for much cheaper and on a huge scale. http://i.imgur.com/fGqCQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/U9PRO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/doiVX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JYvjM.jpg http://i.imgur.com/INVn1.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7pJmr.jpg It might not look like much but Griffins Paradise holds a special place in my heart. It just frustrates me to no end that I can not experience it when I want to, and when I do I can't afford it for long. It frustrates me that I am unable to play the piano well in real life, in spite of having lessons when I was a child, and it frustrates me that I am really clumsy and totally inept at carrying out the most simple of DIY tasks in my RL home, and that it costs a lot of money to employ people to do these little jobs for me. And I fully understand your frustration about your leisure and pleasure being too expensive to fully enjoy, but such is life for most people. Most people are frustrated and disappointed about at least one aspect of their lives. Regarding Second Life though, and your urge to be creative, without having to fork out for a whole sim or a large parcel of land, maybe there is a compromise. I know of hundreds of very creative people in Second Life who have had to downsize their land, but get their creative jollies from exploring more, and setting up photo shoots either in sandboxes with a bit of photoshop jiggery pokery afterwards. They focus on the positive aspects rather than the negatives and seem to derive as much personal satisfaction from their end product too, and some have said to me that it's rather nice not to be worrying about what's going on with their land while they're out in real life. Try to cut your cloth according to your pocket, you can still create paradise within small spaces (thinking particularly of that place that people flock to over in Shinda off the top of my head - can't remember the name of it right now). And remember that frustration is all part of being a human being.
  6. Welcome to Second Life Forums/Answers, Neil Group members, regardless of their contribution, get an equal share of any proceeds made when group land is sold. Tier fees are calculated and charged at the MAXIMUM holding you have at any time during your charging period. For example, if your charging period runs from 5th of each month, if you get rid of land today, even if it takes you to a lower tier level, you will still be charged as though you owned the land for the whole of the month. There is much more to read up on regarding land, group land (which is tremendously complicated), tier fees, etc., on the official Knowledge Base. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Group-owned-land/ta-p/700079 http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-land/ta-p/700043#Section_.3.2

Although, all growth in SL is in-breadth and from raw-material I am curious as to who the elite class is. I am assuming there is an elite class like in our society today because Second Life is a mirrored world. Can someone please give me a few explainations on this upper class and how they culturally relate? Are they approachable? What do they own? What do they control? The only people who truly have any control over Second Life are the ones who actually own it, who have the ability at any moment to push the master switch and plunge us all into darkness. They are God Of The World as far as Second Life goes. No one else really matters in the big scheme of things, although there are the would-be-wanna-bees, and those who we as individuals perceive as celebrities. There is only hierarchy within different groups, and outside of their groups they are not relevant status-wise, and are just another resident, another stranger. The deluded believe they must have some more worth than the average resident when they are spending thousands of US dollars on sim ownership, but they really don't. Anshe is kind of a celebrity, simply because she was in the right place at the right time, was able to purchase sims right from the beginning, and that set her on the road to being a millionaire, and good on her. The average resident still would not know her if they fell over her though, so not a celebrity in the truest sense.
  13. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Sasha. Are you talking about photographs that you took while you were inworld and that are sitting in your inventory? If so, it's a while since I did so, and there might be an easier way, but as there is/was no direct way to save a photo from inventory to hard drive, I would normally open up the photo I wanted to save, and press "ctrl" and "prtscn" (print screen) and save it to Paint, crop it and save it. There must though be a much easier way to do it than that, and I have no doubt made myself look a right noob! However, in lieu of other answers, this is what I've done in the past. Currently, I use Firestorm, rarely save photos inworld, either upload them directly to Flickr or my web feed on my.secondlife.com profile feed. Please remember to check back here for other replies, and if you need to add more to your thread, you can do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit" (or use the "permalink" option at the bottom left of any post you wish to respond to). Edited to add: If you want to transfer them to your email account, you can opt to "show interface" when you take a snapshot from inworld, while having the photo open on your screen, but as the opacity tends to change on the photo border when you do this, and you'd still get some of the background showing up, you wouldn't be able to just directly upload it to Facebook without a bit of saving and cropping first. Easier to do the "ctrl" "prtscn" option as earlier in my post.
  14. You have many beautiful photographs in your Flickr. I enjoy looking at them. Well done on being the Second Life Pic of the Day :catvery-happy:
  15. Ooooh Linden Lab are onto us. I've checked the link again just now and am getting the 404 error message. Maybe they're just removing all the names from the Incident Reports so that they don't have to AR themselves for divulging avatar names in a public place.
  16. I am sorry your experience of the abuse reporting system has not been positive over the years. Going on comments that have come up in the past on these forums, I'd say there was a 50/50 split between residents who were happy with the way abuse reports were dealt with and those who were not. I am luckily one of the happier ones, although not every abuse report I have submitted has been acted upon. Most have, but it has greatly depended on the time of the day, the day of the week, and the subject matter. With 56,000 residents logged in some of the time, and it being a 24 hour world, there must be a lot of abuse reports and support issues to deal with, and when you've got griefers acting like arsonists setting fires all over the place, I think some days the AR team must be feeling like they are chasing their own tails. I hope you are able to get in touch with your neighbours, and one way or another those offensive photos are removed. I can imagine if I uploaded a screenshot here, I would be suspended from the forums! So they should not be allowed to remain inworld, even though it is a M-rated sim.
  17. It was a fleeting thought, and would be quite strange to have something in a skydome emitting something quite that explicit and offensive. Have a wander around the surrounding land parcels and see who it is that has got no auto return set as it's most likely their land that has the spawners on it. Unfortunately, I don't think it's that Linden Lab don't care enough, but they don't have enough manpower to chase around the grid removing all of this type of clutter. It wouldn't ever happen if we all set auto return on our lands too. Me and Amethyst have submitted ARs too now, so until/unless your neighbours can be contacted and/or LL remove the offending spawners, sadly all you can do is turn off particles. I feel for you, I really do.
  18. There is a nagging little voice in my head that might be saying something or nothing, but I'll share it with you, just to be thorough/crazy (delete where applicable :matte-motes-wink-tongue: ) Can you recall purchasing any kind of fun item recently - a picture, an ornament, a scripted adult-themed item, that could possibly be spawning these crazy adult pictures? They do look more like something a griefer would leave behind, BUT I've never seen anything quite like them before, and I have known of some items having an extra feature, and at this point, in lieu of extra objects showing up on your land's object list, and with the proximity of the photos that are bouncing around above your skydome, it does suggest something may have been activated from an object within your sky dome.
  19. I am at the location now, but I cannot find the root prim. If you or surrounding land owners can look at the land details you can return any objects belonging to people you do not know, and someone needs to be reminded to have an auto return set on their land. I will submit an AR while I am there, in the name of Governor Linden.

A forum is designed to inspire conversation. This topic, however thought provoking, did just that, regardless of how some may have perceived it. This thread has brought the creator of the avatar into the discussion and I, for one, am grateful. Strawberry and I are connected on many social media outlets advancing SL awareness. The avatar is very well done creatively and some people have gained knowledge from the conversation. I truly hope the creator benefits from the public awareness. How often do people know who creates the avatars on the SL home page? The end result is a thread that, with a few exceptions, served the greater good. I see that as a positive. PS The plethora of clairvoyance on this forum is prodigious. How often? Well, in nearly 100% of the cases since LL has been posting such photos, the name(s) of the avatar(s) featured in the photo is on the bottom of the photo. One instance where this was not the case is when my photo appeared on the home page. That brought back such a memory. The old home page did used to have a long row of unnamed avatars, none of whom were credited, but were all meant to show prospective new residents the diversity of our community. Linden Lab, if you remember, were calling out for videos from the community last year or maybe even the year before that, and they still feature (I think) somewhere on the website, just to give prospective residents even more inspiration. I like that they credited people for their efforts. It gave me the impression that Linden Lab did actually consider us to be individuals who all had the ability to contribute to Second Life in some way, or to enjoy the fruits of other people's labours at least.
  21. There are many incidences of this happening. Please see answer in another thread made today about Goonsquad griefing. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/qanda/questionpage/blog-id/sla_abuse_and_griefing/article-id/5516/comment-id/5518#M5518 Please note: If the spawning prim is on your own land, you can return it. Also, remember, if you own land, to have an auto return set, so that griefers are not able to leave griefing prims on your land. If you can, speak with neighbours and also ask them to have auto return set. Linden Lab will expect us all to take care of our land, to discourage griefers by having auto return set - this is often why there may be a delay to abuse reports submitted about this sort of griefer attack. However, if you feel you have done all you can do yourself, then I certainly would repeat the process of submitting an abuse report to Linden Lab and explain briefly this is spoiling your enjoyment of Second Life. Wishing you luck.

  23. Hello, Nuala, I am not familiar with this problem, and to me it does sound like one of the glitches that can occur after the weekly updates. Linden Lab add something to fix or improve one aspect of Second Life, and this can sometimes put something else out of kilter. As you say other people around the grid are also experiencing this, I think it would be appropriate for you to report it as a bug via the Jira system, where Maestro Linden and his people can take a closer look and try to replicate the problem. And of course, if you are in contact with other people who are experiencing this on other sims, it would be useful for them also to create a new Jira. Patterns can then be identified, and hopefully a fix rolled out. https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa
  24. Welcome to Second Life Answes, Rebound Anything that impairs the enjoyment of your Second Life, particularly things that slow down performance, or impedes movement, can be reported to Linden Lab via the "help" button at the top of your viewer screen inworld. Ensure to check the box to "include screenshot" so LL can see clearly the problem. If you can find the source prim that is spawning the stuff, then right click on it to locate the name to put on the abuse report form. Otherwise use the name of Governor Linden, and explain you cannot find the source prim. Be brief, and precise about what is the problem. Please note that Linden Lab act on abuse reports in order of priority, and so may not be able to come out immediately to clear up the problem. ***** Edited to add: If you wish to add more to this thread, please do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit" (please do not start a new thread, as it can cause extra confusion)
