  1. I believe it was Thinkerer who mentioned Firestorm, or gave a link to Firestorm/Phoenix. Firestorm and Phoenix are just alternative viewers. Approved Third Party Viewers. Because we all have different computer set-ups, or take part in different activities in Second Life, we sometimes try out different viewers. If you are happy with the Second Life official viewer, there is no reason to diversify. Over the years, as more features have been added, some graphics cards have struggled, hence why some viewers will work ok, while some viewers, including the Second Life official viewer, will struggle or not work at all.
  2. Hello again, Cindy. Thank you for providing a screenshot. I am thinking more and more it is your graphics card. Going back to my earliest months in Second Life, I used to get textures not loading, and sudden crashes, with the very same crash logger message you are getting. Please add your system specifications to your thread, and we'll take a look and see what we can do to get you running properly. I smiled when I read your last comment - about coming on here to enjoy Second Life - that's how it should be. I wrote someting similar on a JIRA (bug report), got very frustrated at not being able to log in at one time, because of a bug in the system. Maybe you just need to update your graphics drivers, maybe it is the card itself that is struggling with SL, but the system specifications will give us more to go on.
  3. Hello again, Cindy I don't really understand why you decided to uninstall the viewer at all. It would have been far simpler to have at least tested what I suggested, to unplug your modem for a few minutes. Also, it probably would be useful if you would post your computer specifications here. If it isn't your connection, then it could well be your type of graphics card. I would always recommend starting with the simpler, more common fixes to common problems, and work up to major things like uninstalling and reinstalling.

We meet at a different persons place every week. It is a good way to meet new people and to see new places. If you are interested in joining the group, search out The Breakfast Group in world or go to this link. http://world.secondlife.com/group/aaeaf8d3-ae7b-491d-cb62-4d4315c562ed I look forward to seeing you at breakfast! Peace! I'm laughing, Hippie, as I had such a wonderful time over at valerie's a few weeks ago, but no way would all of you fit into my little 512m housey, and it would surely frighten my cockatiel :matte-motes-oh-rly: I still feel rather bad at squishing one of valerie's squirrels while I was dancing (actually I think it was Maddie who squished it really, but she kicked it under my feet). I fashioned it into a purse (recycle and reuse is my motto). LOL Marigold. We do have fun huh. If you are space inhibited, no worries. I can find a place for you to host. Woot! Peace! Ohhh, I'm never really "space inhibited", Hippie, - after all the whole of SL belongs to MEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEE :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: (she says, sitting firmly, claiming squatters rights)
  5. Carl is right, run the character test. If you are using the Second Life official viewer it might be in a slightly different place to the 1.23 viewer or Phoenix, but it is in one of the menus that drop down from the top of the screen. (look for Test Character, and then when you click on that you get sub-menus with Test Female - this takes your avatar back to a basic starter one). You cannot delete things that are in the "library" section of your inventory. They are the core elements of everybody's inventory. You can, however, always delete the components of an outfit that you do not wear, ie a jacket layer if you always wear the vest layer.
  6. girl, when you buy a camera, you get a small built-in memory. When you buy a phone, you get a small built-in memory. Part of these contain a component that allows you to run certain graphics. It's much the same with a computer. When you change a graphics card in a computer, you still need to be able to see the screen, so that you can follow instructions on a website to get the up-to-date drivers for it. So, I am thinking that you are able to currently run low-level graphics type games (such as solitaire or minesweepers) without having a graphics card installed, but no way will you be able to run Second Life. You need to have a proper graphics card of some description installed in your computer in order for you to be able to run Second Life. System specifications required for running Second Life are over on this web page ... https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/

CindyWho183 wrote: This seems extreamly odd... when I sign into Second Life, minutes or seconds later it signs me out and it goes to mini pop-up window with "second life crash launcher" I keep crashing and this has been going on for around 2 to maybe 3 days. I don't know if I should unistall my second life viewer then re install? or maybe it's the game. But is anyone else expierencing these problems? Check your connection, as it sounds like this may be your problem. Unplug your modem for a few minutes to reset it. Uninstalling and reinstalling is something I rarely feel the need to do, and do not advise it in your situation.
  9. This really does sound like a connection issue. Unplug your modem for a few minutes to reset the connection.
  10. Sometimes things do get stuck. Relog into a different sim and try again to detach the skirt.
  11. Things you can try: Unplug your modem for a few minutes, to reset your connection. Update your graphics card drivers. Click on "options" in the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit" to add your full computer specifications to this thread. More replies are sure to follow - please keep checking back (and also let us know when you get your solution). Wishing you luck.
  12. There is nothing stopping you from submitting a support ticket to Linden Lab to ask if you could possibly buy that parcel of abandoned land. The general rule is that you should already own a parcel of land that surrounds the parcel you want on three sides, and should measure less than 512m, but I always say, if you don't ask, then you don't get. They might sell it to you, or they might just advise you to keep an eye on the auctions. The official answer to your enquiry is over on the official Second Life Knowledge Base. Here is the link to that ... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Abandoned-land/ta-p/846143 I wish you loads of luck.
  13. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Rock I would actually guess it's your internet connection, and would advise you to unplug your modem for a few minutes to reset the connection. It sounds like the connection is being interrupted in the middle of Second Life loading.
  14. Out of curiosity, how loudly are these flaws screaming? (upload a photo so we can see please). In your shoes I would check I'd got the latest graphics drivers installed, and adjust my screen resolution. I rarely fanny about with the settings inworld, because it tends to get a bit like asking a cat to unwind a ball of wool.
  15. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Brownsugar2 Check in your Received Items folder in your inworld inventory. If you cannot find the item, then you need to click on the Second Life icon at the top left hand side of this screen, which will take you to your Dashboard/the home page. Down the left hand side is a link to your Account details, and transactions history. Cut and paste the details of the above item, and send it in a polite notecard to the seller, asking if he could redeliver it to you.
  16. I only realised we were into August, because my brother turned over the page of his girly calendar and I grumbled at yet another skinny beauty with perfect boobies who I have got to tolerate for the next month. (Actually, I think, while he is out today, I will doctor the photo and give the girl a moustache and a **bleep**!)
  17. I'm afraid you're unlucky this time, Luckystarcute :matte-motes-frown: the competition closed at midnight on 31st July, after running for around a month. People are, however, allowed to vote on one entry by giving kudos until 8th August. Please keep an eye open though for the next contest. Hopefully Linden Lab will run another one in the near future. In the meantime, if you haven't already done so, you can create a Flickr account and maybe have the chance of making the SL Flickr Picture of the Day - no prizes, just fun, and fame for the day. More information is given in the following link ... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Inworld/SL-Flickr-Pic-of-the-Day/bc-p/1486943#M3138

Janelle Darkstone wrote: "Bangy" wasn't there when I checked earlier or Mari and I would've snuck over and taken another picture. :smileysad: But hopefully it's the best way to kickstart another torrent of silly pics, since the parcel with the plywood building to the west(?) is a build zone and you can rez a pose stand and drag it over to where she's sitting....... I'm guessing it's like 'Invasion of the Bodysnatchers' - they start off as pods, get placed on Abandoned parcels, and waterlands, and anywhere Gov Linden won't be looking - then they turn into similar-looking beings. This babe was under the water 3 or 4 days ago; doing yoga or something.
  20. "Boring people don't like creating their own experiences." Although this person is doing something that is interesting to them, it may be boring to someone else looking in. That is not to say they are a boring person, rather that they bore other people. Being boring is one thing, being bored is another. And finding something tedious is something else altogether. But there are these people - the ones who complain "I am bored", when in fact, if they could just apply themselves, they would realise they are very lucky, able-bodied people with a good brain, who need to use all these wonderful gifts and actually bother to do something. They are boring people, because they do not apply themselves, and realise they are very lucky, able-bodied people with a good brain, who do not appreciate all there is around them. They have no reason to be bored or boring.
  21. Tamara Artis wrote: For me it was some kind of a rule, that only boring people can get bored. But now I'm rethinking it 'cause it can't be so much boring people... Anyway, how people can feel bored in SL, and if they do, what keeps them staying logged in or coming back? I'm hearing it from random people that IM me, its like there are tons of avatars standing around and waiting for someone to amuse them! There are many threads here too, people saying they are bored in SL and don't know what to do. Or they left SL ages ago (because it was boring!) and now they are back and have nothing to do, its boring again so they ask someone to come and waste time trying to make them feel less bored? Some basic logic tells us that if one thing is boring, go and find some other. So what keeps people stuck? What keeps them waiting for things to happen instead of doing something on their own? Am going to start and blame boring people for lag! they are just standing in their SL homes and wasting resources. I still believe only boring people are truly bored. Others may feel they are bored, when in fact they have just reached a block/ a wall, where they probably have so many things they have wanted to do for a long time, but have forgotten how to move forwards. I hate myself for going to bed last night and having to sleep, for while I slept, my lovely partner was having a fab time in her time zone (several hours behind me), and I was missing out. Bored never. And sleeeeep is for those with nothing better to do. :matte-motes-impatient:
  22. Some would disagree - but thank you, for your kind words, valerie. I love you too. Big Huggssss :-)
