  1. Whether a certain age is old or not is relative. I was talking with someone and mentioned grandchildren and he said I must be OLD! I literally laughed, though he turned out to be younger than my children... I think I will always think of my children as young, no matter how old they are. My mom who will be 81 next month thinks it's funny when newscasters call people only in their 60's "senior citizens". I will be 61 this summer - I'm thinking she's having problems seeing me and my husband as senior citizens. The only thing that really made me feel old and despondent was finding out a couple of years ago when I was still in my 50's that I have cataracts - something in MY mind that only old people get.
  2. Thanks! I have a lot of folders of poses, but it's a bit daunting to find one to use. Poses are something that I haven't figured out how to organize in a useful way at all in my inventory. I've been thinking I should start trying them out though, and at least organize them by whether they're sitting or standing, and ones I like or don't like.
  3. Looks like it was a lot of fun! I'll keep an eye out for future dates and times, and see if I can make it one of these times.
  4. There are some issues with their wiki and download page - apparently more now than when I downloaded the version I'm running. The version I'm using is 6.3.5.46556 and it DOES support BOM. I can't tell you right now how I accessed the download, as I don't see the version I'm using on the download page that is currently accessible. I originally downloaded it in October, and then in January downloaded it again, switching to the No RLV version. Very odd. I hope it's not discontinued, as I like it best of the viewers I've tried so far.
  5. Does the viewer display the log-in screen before getting that message? If you can get the viewer screen up - and before logging in - go to "Help" -> "About <viewername>" and then copy and paste the information from that here. That will help others here figure out why you might be getting that message, and also if there is a work around that might work for you.
  6. This is the first I've heard of more than 8 themes. That is good. When I was listening to Ebbe last week and he talked about less new features while working on internal/infrastructure (moving to cloud, etc) work, I wondered if that was going to impact the work on the new homes, but apparently not I've haven't listened to today's Lab Gab yet - I've got two pre-schoolers running amok in the living room, and after they leave, a gym workout with my mom - and then finally, after that, time to relax, listen to the Lab Gab and try to get into the log cabin reveal area
  7. Just from the pictures above, the Overlook and the Mountaineer look interesting. I'll wait until late tonight, and hopefully the reveal area will be quiet enough that I can get a good look in all of them at that time.
  8. Buying abandoned land is what I have usually done, myself. For someone new to purchasing land in general the following Knowledge Base articles are worth taking a look over: The one about Abandoned Land has a section that describes how to put in a support ticket for purchasing abandoned land. Just be aware that not all requests for buying abandoned land are approved - in some situations/circumstances, they put the parcel up for auction instead - but it's usually worth a try.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if the windows had some type of built-in shutters or blinds - all the other themes of home have had that feature for the windows.
  10. There are a lot of variables for land prices. For a rocky uneven parcel out in the middle of a continent perhaps you could find one for sale for .5L or 1L per sqm, though many people probably just abandon parcels rather than selling them for such a little amount. On the other extreme, parcels in Bay City which have double the standard amount of prims (and a unique location/ambiance) are outrageously expensive. I believe that you can put a sky platform over a new Linden Home parcel at 2000 meters or higher. Garnet's suggestion about premium sandboxes is a good suggestion for builders as well - you don't have the LI restrictions or spatial restrictions that you would have with a 1024 sqm parcel. If you open up the map in the viewer and look at the mainland areas (large land masses in the middle of the map) and tick the box to show parcels for sale, you can hover over the $ symbol displayed for the parcel for sale, and you should be able to see the price and size info. You can also teleport to the parcel and see the info in the About Land info.
  11. The premium subscription comes with a 1024 sqm free tier allotment. That can be used in one of 2 ways: a Linden home parcel - which always comes with a house which cannot be removed from the parcel, or for mainland tier you need to pay a one-time purchase cost for a 1024 sqm mainland parcel purchase price varies, depending on what the person selling thinks they can get for the parcel depending on terrain, location, neighbors, etc parcel generally is vacant, though some may come with a house or other landscaping still on them which you can return if you don't want them you will not pay any additional monthly tier as long as you do not own larger than a 1024 sqm parcel There is a good class about buying and selling mainland at Caledon Oxbridge University in-world on Saturdays at noon SLT. It is a free class, and one I suggest people attend before buying land for the first time.
  12. SKING is the one I was thinking of, I think. The relay for it (and the picture of it) would have been in the same general area as Slink at the Omega solutions store in-world.
  13. Whenever I've had to go to the Omega System store to get an Omega Relay, I'm always surprised by how many different female bodies are out there. and at some of the body shapes they have. I'm pretty sure that I've seen one at the Omega System store that may have a look similar to what the OP is looking for in a body. The name is not coming to me, and I'm not inworld at the moment, but perhaps I can take a look this evening.
  14. Did you try clicking the box for "Share" in the edit menu first? It seems like I had to do that in order to get the "Deed" box un-greyed for an item I wanted to deed to the land group.
  15. I've been using Kokua since last Fall, and there are a couple of things on your list which are available in Kokua: If by "ability to right click and edit items in inventory" you are referring to being able to get the "edit" option from right clicking on an item that is being worn by your avatar, and then bring up the edit window, yes, it appears you can do that in Kokua The mini-map has a preference to check for showing temp-rez objects There are preference check boxes for "Do not reveal to others where I am looking" and for "Do not reveal to others where I point (click)" It does not look like the camera controls box can be re-sized, but compared to the one in the LL viewer, it is small and I don't think that I would make it much smaller if I was able to resize it I do not recall getting a popup asking if I want to allow a new audio or media to play, so it looks like that is not available The movement related items I'm not sure about - I think there may be some nuances about what you do that I am not aware of. For the ways that I use movement, I did not see a difference between Firestorm and Kokua. In preference, you can set the single-click on land to have your avatar move to the clicked spot, though that is something I haven't used. I don't know about previewing local textures when building, because using local textures is something that I have not tried. Other things not on your list, but things I looked for when trying out different viewers: preference check box to enable chatbar commands (like tph, tp2cam, etc) preference check box to rez objects under the land group if possible choice between using the legacy search or the web search window displays legacy profile window mini-map shows parcel outlines ability in group window to turn off receiving group notices and/or group IM's This isn't meant to be an exhaustive list of capabilities - I'm not a power-user - but trying to address things you had mentioned, and that I tend to look for in a viewer.
  16. Given the situation, I think the school acted appropriately. Even in virtual worlds, actions have consequences.
  17. ah.... that's in Zindra, it looks like from the map. According to ChinRey's comment above, most of Zindra does not allow terraforming. (I wasn't aware of that about Zindra, until I saw her comment. That's one area where I haven't owned any land).
  18. I didn't mean a literal sending of a message, but just the act of being suspended (or whatever) by LL being seen as a message. I don't know how to explain it better.
  19. If they received some action by LL, and even though LL does not release any info about who filed the AR, the person could put 2 + 2 together if you had been the only person they had been harassing. However, it should also send a message to them that you are not going to be intimidated and that you will take action through the system. If they should come back at you afterwords, then I would certainly file an AR about that to keep the pressure on them. I really hope that this situation lessens and disappears, or is able to be mitigated in some way, so that your time in SL can remain pleasurable for you.
  20. I don't think that the initial name selection will be limited to just those 8 names that won the contest. I think that they will be included in a larger set of available names. I do kind of like Ravenhurst I'm just not sure yet about whether I want to change my name, and if I did whether I should change the first name also.
  21. Yes, it was announced back in mid-December. There was a Linden blog post about it.
  22. This is a resident-to-resident help area, so none of us are able to take care of account related issues. Your best bet would be to create a case with Support: https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/
